P2V of Red Hat Linux 7.2

Hello-

I have a client with a Red Hat Linux 7.2 Server old. The free Converter Standalone will allow me to do this server of VMware Server (free version) P2V conversion?

The physical server that will be converted is extremely low, lack of space, in the case of questions.

Thank you...

No, it won't work, for 2 reasons: RedHat 7.2 is not supported (it is an older distribution running on the 2.4.x kernel and we do not support that, except for RHEL 2.1).   Also, Linux P2Vs need to be oriented to ESX, VMware Server is not supported.  However, please keep in mind that ESXi is also free.

  • How to create the dual boot with Red Hat Linux and Vista on Satellite A200

    Hi all!

I have a Satellite A200 pre-installed with vista home premium and I would install another OS that is Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 7.
Can someone advice me how do? I'll be very grateful to receive your answers. Thanks again!

Well, I put t use this Linux distro on my laptop but I used the Knoppix Live CD and it was very easy.
It was not necessary to install anything. I simply booted from the Live CD and I could use the full Linux operating system.

So, it might be better to use this Linux live CD instead of the complete installation.
I think that the main problem would be available to the driver.
The fact is that Toshiba does not support Linux on laptops and so Linux drivers are not available.

Based on this, HP does not support, this does not prevent you. You must use another source to get all the drivers for it.

    Good luck.

The RPM of samba must exist in the CD of RHEL itself. in any case, you can use winSCP tool to your windows host.

  • How to configure the private network interface between two VMS os invited using red hat linux

    Hello:

I'm trying to set up a Real Application Cluster on my home office so that I can install Oracle 11 g RAC which is a facility where you have two servers accessing the same shared of storage (chipboard).

In addition they will have a network interface private and a public network interface, so it will be for public interface eth0 and eth1 for interconnection of private networks.

I read that I can set up using VMWare server, create Virtual Machines and install the operating system invited to them.

I intend to install Red Hat Linux guest OS.

My question is basically, how can I do for the establishment of the private network eth1, will be the guest OS to automatically install the sense (do I need to have 2 NIC cards for this), or where and how can this be configured?

Also, how these two speeches of Virtual Machines to another on the private interconnect?

And is it possible to use DHCP or do I need to add the IP addresses manually?

Very grateful for your contribution to this topic, thank you.

    Kind regards

    Sam

You can have network private without assigning a NIC cards (adapt).

    Hope this helps

Developer 6i is no longer available for download (at least not that I can find: it is not available in the usual places [e-Delivery, OTN, My Oracle Support]). The only way I can think of that you can get the version you need for Red Hat is to contact the Oracle Support and submit a special request to the software or if you know someone who has a copy of the software - ask them to make you a copy.

@BelMan, your link to http://www.cedet.dk/ours/otndownloads.html is no longer valid.

    Hope this helps,

  • Installation on Red Hat Linux 7.2 vmware tools

I am in Workstation 8 and I'm having some trouble to the VMware tools to install.

This problem occurs when you run vmware-config - tools.pl. He can not find the GCC binary. I provide the path/usr/bin, but it returns an error saying that is is not a valid path.

A similar problem occurs with the path to the kernel header. I suppied the /lib/modules/2.4.7-10 path, but I received an error message indicating that this was not the right path.

My skills with linux are newbient so I might very well do something ignorant.

    Welcome to communities,

-How you configure the network settings of the virtual machine?

-The VM does not map network?

-You use DHCP or IP settings set in the virtual machine?

I recommend the following to the test:

-Configure the virtual computer to use DHCP (in the virtual machine itself)

-Configure the virtual machine for the custom virtual network adapter settings: VMnet1 (host only)

After the virtual machine restarts, it should have a DHCP IP address and be able to communicate (ping) to 192.168.56.1
