  According to two different documents from HP, your PC has only SATA II ports.  However, a SATA III hard drive will still work.  In addition, the chipset Intel H61 in your PC doesn't support SATA II.

  Resolution... yours is 1680 x 1050. If you go with a full HD (1920 x 1080) everything will seem smaller but obviously more of the web page or document, or anything you want to be on the screen. I use a 1920 x 1080 as primary monitor and then extend the desktop on a 1680 x 1050 where I just keep my Outlook email open all day. Everything else I do on the full HD monitor. Works fine for me.   The first generation iPad Mini supports the latest version of iOS (9.3.1), if it will support the next major release we won't know until Apple announces that it is compatible with (the speculation is not allowed on these forums). As it has only 512 meg RAM (Mini 2 and 3 have 1 gig; Mini 4 a 2 gig) is probably limited to updates of iOS it is likely to support.
