PALM IIIxe

I came across a Palm IIIxe, which was hardly used. I changed the batteries (that I tested) and click Reset, but nothing happens, it won't turn. I downloaded the software and instructions, manual, but it does not reference this problem.

Suggestions as to how I can get this to work? Thanks in advance.

Check the contrast wheel.  I was fooled several times about an old series III device was dead, but the wheel of contrast was filmed entirely in one direction, making the screen appear as being dead.

Her husband retired and wants to load his Palm IIIxe to our Windows XP Home.  It has a serial port connection.  Already have Palm M125 (mine) on him and it works very well.  M125 is the USB connection.  As far as I can tell, both use the same software.  Mine syncs fine.  Its says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your configuration and try again. "I'm not a computer whiz to the extent where the program installation, etc, but I get.  I spent so much time trying to find what to do - searched the web, etc., even talked to Palm - all to nothing does not.  Currently, I'm reluctantly ready (or fortunately) trash.  This forum is my last resort.  Hope someone can help me through this.  Thank you.

Did you say the Manager HotSync (small red and blue in the lower right corner of your screen Windows icon) to use the parameter "Local"?  I assume that you have a serial port on the computer, right?  If this is not the case, how you connect to the computer?

The "Local" setting will say it looks like the serial port.  Don't forget not "Local" and "Local USB" are checked.

  • Palm IIIxe to USB

    Hello

I have a Palm IIIxe. I just bought a new computer (Vista OS) that is not a connector series. Is there an available adapter so I can attach my docking station to the computer? And the IIIxe will work with Vista?

    Thanks in advance!

    ...
but unfortunately the palm IIIxe does not work with vista...

Palm Desktop 4.1.4e is supposed to be compatible with Vista (32 bit only) to synchronize the base PIM databases.  Installation tool is useless, however.

Oh, that reminds me, the developer of DateBk6, pimlico software, has released a "patch" that allows devices inherited from Palm OS sync with Palm Desktop 6.2.  Read, download, here.

If your computer is Vista 64-bit, you are almost out of luck with the IIIxe because it would require a Bluetooth connection to synchronize.

  • Warm the address book sync from PC to Palm IIIxe

After buying a PC without a serial port, I have a card installed and connected handheld. I tried to Hotsync the device but I get an error message that the program could not open address book database. Clicking ok on this message, another pops up telling me there was an error opening of the contact database and a new empty database is created and the original database file has been renamed to C:\Program Files\Palm\username\address.002.dat.

Whenever I try to hotsync, I get the same messages and it keeps creating a numbered sequence file. No idea of what is happening here and how I can fix this problem? Contact Db is in the PC and I saved on a drive to the case where. I am using Windows XP Pro and I didn't have this problem before.

    I'm naïve here... Please help!

Ok. Looks like you will have to do a 'clean' of Palm desktop and re uninstll - install.

With he data in Palm desktop, export the data for backup purposes. Here are the instructions to do so.

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=28734

Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

Once the data is exported and saved, clean uninstall Palm desktop and re-install. Here are the instructions. Once Palm desktop is re-installed, importing data in Palm desktop, change the ducts to the office replaces handheld and sync.

You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something

A Palm. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy.
Then, go to the desktop of your PC, right-click on a blank spot block and select.

If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step.

For Palm desktop 6.2, look in the following location for folders and files, my documents, desktop PalmOS. You will find the username folder in this place.

Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do
with Palm Desktop on your computer. As the folder above, remove the Palm folder. Once this is done, you need to delete some registry keys
    your registry PC operating system.

Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC
No start, crashing and deleting programs and data. If you feel
you're not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a
PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them all
Should be deleted. To keep your current registry settings, we have a backup of the registry.

On the PC, go to start and run Type "regedit" without the quotes

Select WORKSTATION, browse to the file--> export. Should appear with a save as
box. Current place of residence is very well should be in My Documents, or you can change in a location that you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup [todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
make sure you. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
BUT do not turn off your computer.

The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys won't be here)
    But if they remove them)

    * Installation quick HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm
    * Transfer of files Robotics\PalmOne HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * Robotics\Pilot Office of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.

    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then restart your computer

Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If she asks

  • Data transfer Palm Pilot IIIx for Blackberry 8320 blackBerry smartphones

Thanks to BBSingh for help posting this message. I would really appreciate help from the members of the forum to provide a remedy that is known to work with my Palm and Blackberry.

My problem is changing my old (December 1999 vintage) Palm IIIx data to my new Blackberry 8320. Years, I have used the Palm in conjunction with a Motorola L7089 (April 2000 vintage) and their IR ports for data transfer; Unfortunately, the phone fell in water and after drying carefully, he could make and receive calls again its screen remains empty, so no need to send SMS and most of the functions. Sales team convinced me to buy the Blackberry, but I'm starting to wonder if I've been conned, as usual with sellers once they get your money that they are not prepared to do anything else. New technology has undone me. In the long task of transfer of several thousand items manually I had recourse to the expertise of this forum.

A tip I found has been updated the Blackberry Desk Top Manager to v4.6 and it would list the Palm in its devices to transfer data from. I did, but the resulting Wizard at the point of registration of the Palm, but it wouldn't activate a greyed on the option button. DTM for Windows status options System Tray icon COM1 has been disabled. I could allow it, but as soon as this dialog box has been closed COM1 returned to the disabled state. BTW, this is a non sequitur on COM1 Hotsync of Palm transfers data to the PC via COM1 and the Palm software tools works very well also. I closed all the related applications of Palm and it made no difference. I tried DTM 4.5 with the same result. As an aside how the icon options DTM is deleted from the system tray, Windows Task Manager should be used to close the application.

Another tip say to export data from Palm in Outlook Express, then DTM would need to be OE. I enabled OE reluctantly because it is a questionable product, a favorite oxymoron is "microsoft security", has exported the Palm data in a CSV file, but when they are imported to OE it's garbage. Repeat the exercise but exported as tab delimited and got a worse result. Try to import or the other of these abortions in my Blackberry has been a waste of time.

Another tip say export data from Palm as VCF which can import BlackBerrys, but did not say how they did it. Palm tools allows only the comma or tab files in the delimited export formats.

MY PC is a Dell 4600 with 2 GB of RAM and 300 GB SATA HDD, XP Pro SP3, so that all the relevant fixes SP3 post. Windows Firewall software, the AV and malware have been temporarily disabled, and I logged in as administrator too.

    RESOLVED - 98%

A big thank you to everyone who contributed ideas. Here is the solution to most data transfer: -.

    1. install the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.5

    2. download the latest tools of Palm Desktop Manager which is 4.1.4 (I used 3.6)

    3. perform hotsync of Palm IIIx with Palm tools

    4. disconnect the Palm Pilot from PC

    5. connect the Blackberry to the PC

    6. open Blackberry DTM and check ' device (PIN): "appears

    7. Select the device switch Wizard, grant conditions and the next screen shows active button for Palm devices, click Next

8 calendar, addresses, etc. are read, previews of each appear for approval; with the exception of the calendar. Click OK to finish and get out

    9. close DTM, disconnect Blackberry

10, opening relevant applications on Blackberry to check, all transferred no problem except the grille which was empty

I can live without the old calendar entries and do not have to manually re-create handfull. So the question is settled.

  • Error: Could not open address book database

I use the Palm Desktop software with copyright 1992-2001.  I've initially used a Palm IIIxe, but not used for years. However, I found that the address book was helpful on my desktop computer that is running Windows XP.  I had left my computer over the weekend and had used with LogMeIn on my computer at home, as I often did in the past; However, I did not open the Palm Desktop address book last weekend.  When I went to access yesterday, I got the above error message.  Of course, the manual provided with the software and the Palm IIIxe had no recommendation on how to fix this error.  I don't even know if I still have the original IIIxe Palm and even if I do, I think that it stops working.  Does anyone know how to restore the database?  Help!

Glad you were able to recover at least what you were doing.  The primary data file has been damaged and there is no way to recover that.  The presumption with Palm Desktop, it's that synchronize you with a portable device that would have been able to replace the copy damaged on the desktop with the current version.  Because that has not been done, the .bak file is based on the last synchronization.  At least you have that.

If you hold that current file recreated data, your best bet is to make a copy of occasional backup of it, perhaps on a flash drive.  You can also export a copy of it (check the menu file in Palm Desktop for your export options).

And then, for an amount reasonable, you could probably purchase a device Palm of opportunity on eBay or elsewhere, to Hotsync with.  I suggest you a Palm TX.  My data backup only with Hotsync in my office, but also directly to a SD card installed on the device.  This backup on SD is done automatically every day, and if something happens to your handheld data loss, I'm about 45 seconds a full restore from the SD card.  I like the redundancy.

    Well, I got it fixed.

Due to some system on Vista updates, he canceled several of the patches I had, but the next round of updates fixed the confiect with the patch.

Just by reinstalling PalmHotSyncSetup who is a third-party application, I am able to run the latest version of Palm Desktop for Vista 32.

I put in all my Applications that I used to connect my computer to pocket in a single download called Palm Patches folder.

Well I hope this helps you.

  • Moving Desktop data on network drive

I would like my office data to a network drive location.

The drive letter will appear on the new list of places, but I get an error message when you try to perform the move, claiming in effect that the target location is occupied.

I would be able to move the data to a network drive?

    Palm IIIxe software version 4.1

(I guess you can say that I am not the first...)

    Thank you.

Hello dhlytle and welcome to the forums of Palm.

Palm Desktop does not support to be loaded on a shared network drive or is like having its data files, separated on a shared either drive. Palm Desktop was a single-user application that is installed on a single Mac or Windows PC.  There is no control over the software to see that if a database record is locked before, say, a second user tries to read/write a record that is already connected by someone else.

In short, you could power something Palm Desktop installation on a shared drive or get the data files on a shared network drive, but you will be running the risk of data corruption if more than one computer attempts to use data at the same time.

  • Contact / calendar files to usable Format?

I have an old IIIXe.  I do not use your handheld (although I still have it).  I use the software to manage my calendar and contacts.  My old work laptop computer crashed.  The OS is corrupt and does not start.  I asked for my business help held office to recover the data, so I can put it on my hand.  At that time, the company can't stand Palm mobile society, nor that they will allow me to continue to use the Palm Desktop software.  I need to get the data off the old laptop and my hand until I can find another way to manage my calendar and contacts.  We do not currently use Outlook, but it may in 3rd quarter of 2009.

The help desk has sent the following message:

The problem is the operating system on the old laptop is corrupted and the system does not start. I slaved the drive to one of our demo systems and tried to install the old palm software to see if we can recover the data. Contact files are not in a format usable by the palm software. The software is looking for a .aba, .csv or .txt file to import data to, but the files on the old hard disk are .dat format. We will not be able to recover the data.

Is there a method to retrieve these data (my calendar and contacts for the last 8 years)?

Simple answer or a techno should work, because I have just the techie answer to the Helpdesk.

Hey, I wanted to circle back and let you know that your advice worked.  My helpdesk people could not get the old drive hard back to life, so I thought that I was out of luck.  But I found an old backup to another drive that I have saved on a memory stick.  I copied from the memory stick in my PC at home.  So, thanks for the help.  Have a beer or two on me.

  • Palm TX but want to HotSync with the Outlook calendar Palm NOT!

I have a Palm TX with Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.9 I like to use the calendar and tasks etc that come with the Palm operating system, but from what I can tell I can only synchronize with Outlook!  Outlook does not print all my appointments in the week, I also very much and he will cut them to a print on.

There must be a way I can use the calendar that I love so much of Palm.  I used an old Palm III and IIIx and upgraded to the TX.  It's a deal breaker, I hate Outlook its not functional for me with what I'm doing.  Anyone have any ideas here?  When nothing appears on the Palm calendar or tasks hotsync etc.  I have the Palm Desktop by Access 6.2.2 application.  I went in the HotSync setting Manager but my only options are listed as schedule (Outlook), Contacts (Outlook) etc and I can change if the handheld or desktop computer Replace duplicates.  IT'S HER!  Should I uninstall and reinstall an earlier version?  Palm TX will work with that?  Its my time 04:24 and I'm driving me crazy trying to figure out the fix for this.  Got to sleep but will check for all the answers!

Thanks for any help I can get!

Hello livingny, welcome to the Palm support community.

Try running the 'switch' to sync with Palm Desktop.  Somehow, it seems to be set to synchronize with Outlook now.

On your PC go to: Start Button/All programs/Palm/PIM led Sync / Sync with Palm Desktop.

To redirect the information in Palm Desktop on your next HotSync calendar App.

  • whenever I use my laptop and my palms are based on the laptop and I type all of a sudden... my guard resize bigger or smaller screen size

I try to keep my thumb on the mouse pad Palms when I type, but every now and then my screen resizes more or less until I take my left the base of keyboard sound Palm only when my left hand rests on the base next to the touchpad. I type pretty fast so it becomes boring and yes she also jumps screens or go back to the previous message and I choose ctrl z to cancel and return to my message I was typing... It also switches tabs on me too... don't know why my Palm being to the left of the keyboard on the basis should effect other thing he does after a while. and I have to stop what I'm doing... and go to the firefox menu and change the size of the screen down to 100%, sometimes she's going up to 200-300 other times it comes down to 70-80%, I find this annoying I I wish there was a way to disable the resizing of the screen in the control panel. If it's just to be 100% happy with it I'm I have need it larger or smaller... There should be a way to LOCK... I understand that there are people out there with eye disorders and needs to have the screen size increase by using the + or - but there should be blocked so there's just no matter what is happening on my keyboard or the touchpad or the basis of the cushion... this screen size not will increase or decrease. unless I turn off the lock... maybe this is something that they can be implemented in the next version or do a quick update of the browser

Maybe a support forum for this laptop brand will have some ideas, because that is not strictly a problem with Firefox only.

  • A faulty sensor of Palm rest can be disabled?

I paid £2000 + for my macbook and I now use it to influence the paper.

Long story short, my laptop (macbook pro mid 2012) was playing so I took it in the Apple store and he was diagnosed as having a sensor is defective Palm. The fix required a new logic board (£409). In addition to this the necessary battery change (a new battery requires a new keyboard and back a new apparently box!) for a total of five hundred and something books!

I was told the defective sensor itself could not be replaced and to cough up £400 + to change the Board whole logik. It's not logical for me.

You do not cut the arm because of a nail broke! It does not make sense. It is Apple design and there is clearly a defect in it and this lack of benefits Apple, not me! If you can not solve the nail then give me a new arm and charge me for the only nail (and work)!

    Beggars belief!

I have a feeling that the culprit of this fault was the battery. Not at all satisfied with this new battery. Once it loses its ability to hold % 80 of its initial charge of Apple wants your money.  Don't want to go too.

I'm currently saving up for a Laptop Microsoft I completely lost trust and confidence in Apple designs. As least I can work on it and replace parts without this kind of nonsense!

I was strongly attached to my macbook pro!

Does anyone know a way to bypass/disable rest palm sensor defective? If I disable this probe, I'm happy to take the risk and continue with monitoring software until I get my new laptop to heat.

No has not already post this same question before?  And people have given you answers.  Don't litter the forums with duplicate messages.
