Palm m500 & Vista

I have a Palm M500.  I can't find the drivers so that I can use it with Windows Vista.  I downloaded and installed PalmDesktopWin62.exe.  It appears in my computer Office Vista very well, but even if I try to hot sync and I get a successful message, NO information is passed from my computer to the Palm or Palm computer.

Can you help me please?

You must install the hotsync utility called PalmHotSyncSetup for the M500 3rd party work with windows vista.

This software is made by pimlico software and can be downloaded on this site. http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/

I have a Palm m500.  I recently bought a new computer that is running Windows Vista Edition Home Premium 64-bit.  I downloaded 4.1.4 and 6.2 drivers upgraded, but my Palm and computer will not synchronize.  When you try to load the drivers, it breaks down, can not find them.  Any suggestions?

Hello jperl, welcome to the Palm support community!

Your problem has been reported several times on this forum.  The problem is with the fact that there is no USB driver for Vista 64 - bit Windows and Palm.

Take a look at the many "sticky" posts at the top of this section of the forum for a few suggestions.  You may be able to sync via infrared, as owners Z22.  It will be the purchase of an international registration "dongle" If your computer is not equipped with an IR port.

Palm Inc. does not even have the rights to Palm Desktop more, so don't get your hopes for a fix or a solution anytime soon...

  • HP Pavilion 14 inch laptop: Palm M500 hot sync with 8.1 Windows 64 bit

I have installed my software Palm Pilot M500 (from the original factory CD) on my HP Pavillion Lap Top. However, the hot sync fails and I get the following message: selected The COM7 Port is not available.  Hot Sync Manager will open port when it becomes available. »

Suggestions, how can it clears and the hot sync enabled?

It is a system of exploitation of 64-bit Microsoft Windows 8.1.

    Thank you

    You will need to:

    1. install Palm Desktop 6.2.2 (search for one of Wyrenut sons, where he links to it, a recent reshuffle of the forums by HP removed the stickied thread that kept the top of this forum where it was easy to see);
    2. Install the Aceeca 64 bit drivers (also doing a search here for synchronization with windows 64-bit); and
    3. install PalmHotsyncSetup of www.pimlicosoftware.com , which should make your M500 more compatible with the latest Palm Desktop.

    Good luck.

  • Tungsten E2 - Vista - problems of funds. New Palm and Desktop?

Just moved to a new computer with Vista professional. Discover issues with Palm Desktop 4. Have a Tungsten E2. I'm NOT happy with version 6 of the Office!

I can run the worm old office 4 on the virtual disk in vmware on vista, but wonder how to synchronize?

Or... there at - it a new pda palm on the market that works with Vista and have an office that has more features than version 6? (Oh and also accept the years of files from old palm desktop?)

I am disgusted that I face this in 2009. Reminds me of how I used to have to do things with windows in 1995.

Only, I have solved my problem. I found a good third palm (and vista) compatible desktop software. http://www.iambic.com/Agendus/winpded/default.asp

I loaded it in Vista and it has been able to pull in all the files of the Palm Desktop Ver 6 and even was able to find all the category tags that had been in ver 4 (but were not visible in ver 6). All this happened without any intervention on my part.

It is not free, but it is certainly useful to make my life easier.

  • Hot sync m500... need help

Hi, I just bought an old palm m500 and im having trouble it sync to my computer window xp.

I downloaded 4.1.4 Office and now I'm stuck.  I clicked on hotsync manager to make sure that it is turned on and it does not appear in my windows system tray.  my Palm is connected by USB.

    Please help... Thank you...

You need the 64-bit driver Aceeca wrote. I'll post the link to the driver. Once you download the driver unzip it. I did this right on the desktop. Know go back to Device Manager and select Update driver there will be two choices. Select Browse and locate. You should see the selection select Windows desktop and select the Aceeca driver and install it. You will probably be asked to give permission. It will replace the palm pilot with the Aceeca driver if it works you should be able to hotsync at this stage. I was able. Please post back on this subject he weather is working or not.

  • Vista & Desktop 6.2 & 7.0 Hotsync problem

I just bought a new Vista machine and I've tried to install the versions of Vista (6.2) Desktop and Hotsync (7.0), but when I get to the point where the installation is asking me to press the Sync button on my cable, Vista seems unable to locate the driver. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I am in the same situation as you.  What I found is the there is not a USB driver for the Palm for Vista 64-bit platform.  Without this box, you will be unable to synchronize via USB.

What I've found, is that Bluetooth is supported.  I have a USB Bluetooth adapter (~ $ 20) and used on my computer and set up my Palm to make a Bluetooth Hotsync.  It worked fine under Vista 64-bit.

  • Palm 500

I have a Palm M500 and want to move information stored in it to a Palm Zire 71

In my view, that the older m500 used 'AddressBook' instead of 'Contacts', but to send a contact:

Open the program on the m500, pull down the menu, select 'beam Contact.

Make sure that "Receive IR" is enabled in the E2 - Pref. beam/power/icon of reception.

First try a contact.  If it works, then try "Bundle category" and select "All".

  • HotSync file location

I've recently updated to Windows Vista and Desktop 6.2. Previously, I had put the location of my data files by going to tools | Options and the general tab. I don't see this option now. How can I set the location of my data files of the HotSync.

    Thank you.

This can be done by changing a value in the registry located at the:

    Robotics\Pilot Desktop\Core\Path of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.

Just change the value of 'Path' the full path of where you want the Palm Desktop program to search for your files (for example: "P:\Palm OS Desktop"), and then move all the contents of the "My Documents\Palm OS Desktop" folder at this location. It can be another directory on a local computer, removable usb device, network path or the volume is encrypted.

If you want to make sure that the palm data stored on your computer are protected from the prying eyes of others, then you can use a product like True Crypt.  Its encryption free program that works very well (an Internet search will locate the site of suppliers).  True Crypt allows you to mount a volume that is encrypted so that it looks like another drive; files such as Palm desktop can be moved to and is encrypted on the fly.

Note: If a person (including you) tries to run the Palm Desktop application without connecting to the network drive and/or your encrypted volume is not mounted, then the program will bark at you with an error "Invalid configuration".

If you don't know how to change a value in the registry there are tons of sites out there that will explain how to do this if you don't know how. As always, be very careful when working in the registry!

    Have a great!

  • 'Successful' HotSync, but no data

I recently bought a new laptop and am trying to get my data moved from the former.

New computer laptop OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

    The device is Palm m500.

I downloaded the version 6.2.2 to Palm Desktop software

I followed the instructions on another post on the 64-bit driver.

The installations were successful.  I tried to hotsync and the device connects and says it was successful.  He asked if I wanted to add a new user with my name and I said yes.  He added that, but when I'm looking for my contact information is not there.  Help!

    Thank you

    Janet

Your problem is the version of palm desktop, you used. PIM lines are different on new devices. You have a legacy device. Uninstall the 6.2.2 and download and install palm desktop 4.1.4. You will need to reinstall the driver 64 bit Aceeca after than the 4.1.4 palm desktop instillation.
