Palm Tungsten E2 hotsync with windows 8

I have a palm Tungsten E2 I can't warm to sync using Windows 8. I have it installed, which, according to me, is the latest driver for Palm and the installed program, but it is still impossible hot sync. There is no Bluetooth capabilities either.

HPEnvyRed wrote:

Thank you for your help.  I just downloaded the driver.  What should I do to install?

Yes my E2 HotSynced fine on my old computer, no problem.

The error message, it's that there is no link.

I went to ensure that the program was looking for synchronization via USB because it's what I use, so this isn't the issue.

Please see this post at the beginning of this section regarding the Aceeca of Win8 driver installation.

  • What is the best solution to use a Palm Tungsten 2 on a Windows 7 computer?

Pushed by the end of XP, I bought a workstation HP Z230 running Windows 7 Professional.   I would get my Palm Tungsten 2 work, and I've heard several options here on that.

    Options

Use Palm Desktop 6.2 with Bluetooth for hotsync.  (I've done this with a laptop Win7, but I use the Notepad utility a lot with a few macros, which is unfortunately not supported on Desktop v6.2).

    B. use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 in a virtual Windows XP environment running under Win 7.  I know that I can do, and it's probably my rescue.  However, Microsoft suggests that you disconnect from the Internet when you use the virtual XP, as it can be sensitive to piracy because they support no more than XP.   This will be a further nuisance that I will probably forget to do.

    C. use the USB Aceeca driver to make Desktop 4.1.4 work.  I tried following the instructions here to do, but when Hotsync fails, he never appears as a triangle yellow in the Manager list of devices, even after I followed the tip to make visible hidden devices.  So I could not even try the Aceeca pilot with Palm 4.1.4 again.

    D. install the Aceeca Desktop 4.1 and update their driver.  I might try this (uninstall Palm 4.1.4 and install Aceeca 4.1) but it seems that it depends on the same procedure to update the driver as my option C just above.  So I think I can run in the same c dam.

    Eureka!

I have now received Palm Desktop 4.1 to run on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and showing all the modules with my Tungsten T2 and without locking.

The breakthrough was all the things above (including run them as an administrator) and adding to it, turn off the power of user access control, as suggested in another post unrelated by Dean (aka WyreNut)

Here are the stops to run Palm 4.1 (not 4.1.4) on Windows 7 and synchronize with a T2.

    A. install Palm Desktop 4.1.

    B. when it tries to Hotsync and fails, look in the Device Manager in Control Panel and look for a reference to Palm with a yellow exclamation point in it.  Note: This palm reference appears only during a Hotsync.  Therefore, look right after a failure.  NOTE: If you do not see this device or the yellow exclmation point by it, you will probably need to uninstall Palm Desktop and start again.

    C. follow the instructions to install the driver of Aceeca instead of the Palm pilot.  (This is covered elsewhere on this site.  You must already have the driver downloaded and unpacked Aceeca and on your computer so you can navigate to it).  This should enable Hotsync to work.

    D. right-click on the shortcut to the program Palm Desktop 4.1 and go to the Compatibility tab and click on where it says 'Privilege level' and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator."

E, go to the control panel and disable user access control.  I didn't find this by going to the Control Panel, so I searched help and got the information.   There is a slider control and who slide down.  You will then need to reboot for it to take effect.

After doing all these things, I am fortunately HotSync with my Tungsten T2 with its Palm Desktop 4.1 original.

  • Palm TX - sync Bluetooth with Windows 8

I just bought a HP Envy 6 computer laptop with Windows 8 installed... only to find out that I can't use traditional crib with my Palm TX handheld sync.  I now use Bluetooth for HotSync operations.  I installed a Bluetooth adapter on HP laptop and set up the Bluetooth on the Palm TX handheld and everything looks like it's working in a perspective of Bluetooth.  However, when you try to use the HotSync of Palm... I get the error message "Cannot start the HotSync operation because the port is currently in use by another application".  I tried to configure serial ports Bluetooth on laptop with HotSync Manager, but that does not work either.

    Any suggestions?

The TX can also sync via wifi, or you can use the Aceeca drivers to return to a simple connection of the USB cable.

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Make sure Palm Desktop or your E2 are both set to HotSync via the docking USB cable.   When I open Palm Desktop on my laptop and click the HotSync icon, then connections, I see these options:

    USB

    Network (TCP/IP)

    Serial

If you don't see these, then I suggest that you do a clean uninstall/reinstall of Palm Desktop.

USB for Palm Desktop 6.2.2 version works fine on my x 2 HP spectrum loan.

These instructions are for Vista, but should work for Win7.

You first need to you a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by clicking on start-> Documents-> Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy. Then go to the desktop of your PC, click on a blank spot block and select.

If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step. If you are not concerned about your data at this stage, go to the next step.

Now, you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do with Palm Desktop on your computer. Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below. [C:\Program Files\Palm or C:\Users\[Vista Palm connection name] \appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne C:\Users\[Vista Login Name] \appdata * note you may need to show hidden folders to join appdata. To do than to go into your control panel and open folder options. Go to tab and uncheck hide hidden files.

When you use Palm desktop 6.2, look in my documents or documents and delete the folder Office of PalmOS. It is the location of the PD 6.2 data files.

Once this is done, you will need to remove certain keys in the registry of your PC operating system.

Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC to start, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel that you are not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to remove. To make sure that we have a good copy of the current registry, we make a backup of the registry.

Go to start on your PC in the search box type "regedit.exe" without the quotes.

Point peak COMPUTER, go to file-> Export. Should appear with a save as box. Current place of residence is fine, must be within My Documents, or save to a location that you will remember. In the name of the file in low type "backup [todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. You will be asked, you of course. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.

The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys will not be here, but if they remove them)

    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer * Robotics\Pilot Desktop HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then, restart your computer.

Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD (or a download) and do a hotsync. If request you a user name, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right of the screen to hotsync.

  • Problems with hotsynching my Tungsten E2 with Windows 7

My husband just bought me a labtop and I also have a Palm Tungsten E2.  Here's my problem: my palm don't HotSync and I have years of information on it.  So after weeks of coming to accept the fact that my palm does not work with my new laptop which has Windows 7 (I love my phone and I love my Palm) I decided to attempt more HotSync and obviously it didin't work.  So now that I reluctantly accepted that my palm and the new laptop are not good for them, I am ready to go with another plan of action.  So, does anyone know if there is another computer on Pocket (probably not a Palm product) which is compartive hand held Palm that will work with windows 7? As well as in a way that I can get all my info transferred from the Palm on the new product (whatever it is)?  I would really appreciate any help that anyone can give.    I'm looping at the moment, because I rely on my Palm.  I don't like that people say, it cannot be an up-to-date product, but he did wonders for me to help me keep my schedule together.  I'd really rather NOT go back to the paper version of Franklin Covey, which is where I started.  For those who know the Franklin Covey, is wonderful, but it's on paper.  I don't want to go back to the paper.  Too much stuff to carry and the Palm is so much easier >!

I presume that you have run the troubleshooting tips to: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/tungsten/e2/unlocked/solutions/article/2630_en.html

And the software downloaded and installed the latest:

    http://KB.Palm.com/wps/portal/KB/na/Tungsten/E2/unlocked/solutions/article/37014_en.html

State of Palm, 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Vista will synchronize not via USB so they suggest BlueTooth.  Since you have a new laptop, done with BlueTooth?  (If not, we can always blame your husband for getting the bad!).  It is a solution, you can buy a BlueTooth dongle for not a lot of $s:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&DEPA=0&order=BESTMATCH&description=Bluetooth+dongle

Most of them simply plug into a USB port, so there is no duty open Notepad.

  • HotSync of Windows crashes but Mac Hotsync OK

My centro (verizon) was ok HotSync with windows xp computer Home Office. I wanted to have a double set of data on my mac os x 10.4.11 ibook g4 as well so that when I travel, I can change data on the ibook and synchronize with my centro.

After I activated the conduit for HotSync on Mac iSync, I noticed that I cannot HotSync successfully on my windows machine. Still, it crashes when syncing of calendar on the screen of the centro. I have to force kill HotSync on windows for her to get out.

Affecting the conduct of timetable for the 'status quo' let's me hotysnc everything. While the schedule is the problem.

In addition, it sync on a mac with no problems. I can't get this to hotysnc on my windows machine.

In addition, I did a complete NVBackup on micro-SD card then HotSync worked well on my windows machine.

Funny thing is that even after restoring the centro with NVBackup, he still stops now. I thought that since the NVBackup was made before this problem, a complete restoration of the SD card NVBackup would have solved the problem. But none.

Funny, if the calendar application is corrupt, so why would it still ok hotsync on a mac. And why a NVBackup until this alleged corruption calendar not make support so it can successfully hotsync again?

What all do you propose them?

    Thank you

Solved. If a moderator can mark this as the solution, I would appreciate it.

I solved this problem by using a suggestion by another representative of Palm Tech on this forum who suggested this solution to another user who was having a similar problem.

I used the program dbFixit and he found that one record in my calendar has been tampered. dbFixit told me who he was, and then I open the calendar on the palm centro and deleted this record. Problem solved. Everything is now ok hotsyncs.

My NVBackup works do not as well, I found that the corrupted folder exist in my backup as well, if it was the culprit.

I'm still confused about a part though: why the Mac I would hotysnc ok. If anyone has any ideas, I have to hear it. I think that iSync did something weird to corrupt the recording.

I'm just going to play safe and hotysnc with a single system. I think there are a lot of problems when hotync'ing it between 2 or more computers, and even fewer different operating system.

  • Tungsten E don't hotsync on Windows 7

I run my Palm Tungsten E (bought in 2005) using the HotSync Manager 4 without problem.

I just got a new HP laptop and tried to install the HotSync Manager, the drive did not have software to do the installation.

I downloaded HotSync Manager 7.0.2 to try to resolve the problem. The result is the same - HotSync does not work and NO error no message to tell me what may be the problem!

Did anyone had success turning a successful HotSync the Tungsten E Windows.

I also have an old Tungsten E and now a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. I finally understood how to synchronize so here's my story.
Already said that it works by infrared, so I bought an infrared adapter USB 7780 MOSCHIP (www.conrad.nl) and downloaded driver win7-64 www.moschip.com and installed the infrared adapter.
I downloaded Palmdesktop 6.22 including hotsync 7.02. I also had to download and install additional conduct for Outlook2007 which I am running.
Next: setting up hotsync to my Tungsten E account. First make a user account. It's a little tricky because this isn't the username under network parameter, but the name that appears in the upper right of the screen if you synchronize. I also had to cancel my password I got into serious trouble syncing asked a password, although I never had a password configuration in my Tungesten E. go to prefs - security - and cancel your password.
Then in the hotsync Manager filling out what Sync (contacts, calendar, Outlook etc.). And then connection sto Infarred and network!
Then set up the connection, placing my infrared USB adaptor near the mt Tungesten E IR. Then go to prefs, connection and I thought choose IR for PC/handheld, but the later which proved to be wrong, so I created my own custom "IR Paul" connection and the connection to the PC and via an infrared connection.
Next to the prefs - network - service Untitled, username in my case "psalverd", "password" and connection to the IR Paul. Fact
The Star then tab on the PDA but cancel immediatelt as Tungesten E then well that you put in place to connect with IR tries to connect to usnig a home/cable station. Yo see the Hotsync on your PDA saying menu "hotsync last date-time" with Paul IR. Its the Hotsync icon in the middle of the screen and hotsync tab will now run. On your PC, a window opens showing the progression of your timing, will soon launch a password (no) and then starts the synchronization really.

Hope my story will help someone else. As I'm not a very literate PC users that perhaps not all correct, but it worked for me.

  • Sync problem with Palm Tungsten E2 & PC - Fatal Error Message on the screen of the PDA

Recently my Palm Tungsten E2 will not synchronize with my PC. The following message appears on the screen of my handheld Palm when it tries to sync: "Fatal Error. ' Mgr.c, Line System: 4038, error launching Application. And a "reset" icon under the message that when activated, cause my PDA to reset through the sequence of the display date/time, etc. My PC system is Windows XP Professional. I recently updated my program to sync Palm from 4.2 to 6.2, which does not fix the problem I have. Your suggestions please?

For this type of error, you need to reset hard E2. I hope that you have all your data in Palm Desktop. After the hard reset, change the desktop hotsync conduits replaces handheld and synchronize.

Click on the following link for the Web page of kb.hpwebos.com for the article about reset procedures

    http://KB.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/KB2/common/article/887_en.html

You can export your data for backup purposes, first in case something happens during synchronization.

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

    http://KB.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/KB2/common/article/28734_en.html
Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

For reference purposes, click the following link to the support page for your device on the kb.hpwebos.com Web page.

There are links on the page the user Troubleshooting Guide, how to, downloads, etc.
