Palm TX 32 bit Windows 7 Pro of XP Update: use XP mode? Or Win 7?

I'm really good at making fatal mistakes with technology and my Palm is too critical to risk, so I bought a portable 32-bit, Windows 7 pro and XP mode installed.

I've scoured the forums, but all I can find are problems/solutions with 64 bit (which is what scares me in the first place, of course).

First of all, I should install in XP mode?  Or install Win 7 on a 32-bit computer will go smoothly?

Secondly, can I use my original disc with the 4.2 version of Palm Desktop?

Finally, for my peace of mind, you kindly check my checklist of errors, omissions or dangerous areas.

(1) synch the device from Palm desktop

(2) backup on my SDCard with NVBackup

(3) open the XP mode - or do not open XP mode as you recommend

(4) install Palm desktop (disc or download that recommend)

(5) enter the same username as on the device / xp computers

(6) change in Organizer substitute Office

(7) with the sync cable. Make tea. Be calm.

(8) check data on handheld and the desktop to find errors.

(9) when somewhat confident everything goes well, return led to synchronize except for stays of backup as handheld overrides desktop. (not sure why, but it's the default I guess.)

Thank you

Off the hook

SUCCESS!

Thank you all very much. I danced around the kitchen.

I had a few problems, and that means a question.

After installation I plugged the cable in and upward jumped a box "Installing the driver software" telling me "software device driver was not installed successfully. I thought it was over, and that's my question. What does that mean? Because the next thing that happened, thought I had nothing to lose but hope, I tried a synch, and incredibly, it worked. I made a small change in the calendar and it synchronized at the back of the unit.

He also tells me there is a problem with the quick installation then took me to do nothing.

In addition, in case it might help someone, disable UAC in Win7 is slightly different from that of Vista. Go to "edit your user account settings" and set the cursor to "Don't warn.  At this time, I went on the internet for security. And it's a little annoying, because after that you have to restart the computer. And when HotSync is done, you go back to the control panel and restart and then restart.

WyreNut, I smiled when I saw your post.  I always assumes that the volunteers on the technology forums (which, in a just world, would be paid buckets of moolah for their help) are early and that you would be all Win8 (and the curse, I suppose). But I guess that help you here because if something works (such as Palm) why spend.

I kudo has you all and would buy you champagne if I could.

Confused, but less.

Yes, the product key works independently of the architecture (32- or 64-bit), so you can use the same product key used to activate 32-bit Windows 8 Pro with 64-bit Windows 8 Pro.

  • Impression on RDP 32 bit 64 bit Windows 7 pro host client

Wow, I read about 400 posts on mixed 64/32 bit print DRP and either they cover the desktop remotely on Windows servers or printing on 64-bit clients. I have 2 computers to Windows 7. 1 is a 7 Pro 64-bit and the other is a 7 Home Premium 32-bit. We use the 32-bit as a RDP client. The 64-bit (Win 7 Pro) host, does not show the 32-bit printers as redirected.  Can I add 32-bit drivers in Windows 7 pro and he will then provide the client redirects? If so, how? I thought I might be able to add printers as a local port on the host of the SPR, but the actions of the customer appear not to be available through the network device "tsclient".

    Hello

EU from Toshiba has published a page of information to win 8:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/Windows8-message/

Pilots win 8 are not released for this series. I could not find in the Toshiba compatibility matrix

Now, you have two options: either you will return to Win 7 or you will still keep 8 Win installed on your laptop and are looking for the drivers of your own hands.
You can try Windows 7 drivers for this unit and the other drivers Win 8 out of other models of laptops win 8 supported.

Many different Win 7 drivers are compatible with Win 8

  • 32-bit Windows 8 Pro OEM activation using a 64-bit OEM key activation - is it possible?

I have one still to be put in service oem 64-bit of windows Pro 8 copy and I was eager to install the 32-bit version on an old pc running Windows XP and with only 4 GB of memory. The 64-bit activation key can be used for this installation of 32-bit version?

I downloaded an iso of the equivalent of 32 bits, it installed OK but when I tried to activate it using the 64-bit activation key I got the message "this product key does not work. Is it because the key provided with the 64-bit oem disk is usable only on a 64-bit install (unlike the commercial versions non - oem where the same key works for 64-bit and 32 - bit)- or is the invalid key for some other reason?

    64-bit disc is titled HRM_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5 and the 32-bit version, I downloaded HRM_CCSA_X86FRE_EN-US_DV5

Product keys are not specific architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), the problem is, some keys do not work in some channels.

A touch of detail will not work with OEM media and vice versa OEM key will not work with the media to detail.

  • Palm Centro / 64 bit Windows Vista

Everyone figured out how to sync music to a Palm Centro using Windows Vista 64-bit?  My understanding is that there is not a USB for Vista 64 driver.  I can already my Centro Bluetooth HotSync, which works (although slow) but cannot sync music and like anyone with a Centro knows, it is inconvenient to remove the memory cards.

Even if there is a way to sync music files to your center of the Vista desktop, music files tend to be large and take a long time to synchronize.  The best way to put music files on your card with any OS is drag & made slide/audio selecting folder on your card with a card reader.  Suppression of the Centro SD micro card isn't all the * who * inconvenient.  Is not like you need to do it very often.

  • HP Mini Atom N2600 1104: why the OS 32-bit (Windows 7 Pro)?

I just bought a HP Mini 1104 (Atom N2600 processor).  The architecture is 64-bit capable.  Why it comes with a 32-bit version of Windows 7?  I think that the 64 bit version of Windows 7 would be a more natural match.  Is there some extremely effective in disk space, speed, or power draw using the 32-bit version of Windows 7?

    Thank you

    -Ryan

    Hey, Ryan:

A 64 bit OS requires more disk space and memory to run a 32 bit OS.  Not double, but more.

Unless you have 64-bit programs, there is no advantage in having a 64 bit installed - OS, especially if the maximum memory you can install is only 2 GB.

The processor is capable of 64-bit, but it does that of up to 2 GB of memory.

On your laptop, you're better off sticking to an OS 32-bit for the aforementioned reasons.

I even think that somewhere on this forum someone has tried to install W7 x 64 on their mini with the N2600 and he would not go because of an incompatible hardware error message.

I don't get that because the processor is normally the only keeper there.

    Hello rap.

I understand the inconvenience you encountered.

According to the description, you are facing the high use of the disc after you have reinstalled the operating system.

It is possible that some third-party programs that are installed on your system might be in conflict and the origin of the problem.

I suggest you perform the clean boot and check.

    Perform a clean boot.

I have two accounts set up on win xp pro user.  Sometimes I can disconnect one but not the other, and it seems to flip flop that connects first.  It will change user but will not register.  Most recent he won't close the session.  I use task mgr to close the session and he still hesitates to do.

Shutdown problems (or logoff) are usually caused by a program or process that won't come out gracefully. The program or process may be against malware, or may be legitimate (for example a pervasive like Norton or McAfee antivirus). If you use Norton or McAfee product, uninstall it and replace it with a better program like NOD32, Kasperksy or Avast (free). The Windows Firewall is enough for most people. Shutdown problems can also be caused by old/badly written drivers so make sure that all drivers are updated, especially on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

A.the first step should always ensure that your computer is free of viruses/malware.

    B. If the computer is free of viruses/malware, the drivers are current, and no program Norton or McAfee is installed, then do boot minimum troubleshooting to see what program/process is the culprit:

  • Printer has stopped printing on 64-bit Windows 7 HP Probook computer laptop using the USB connection.

I recently bought a HP Probook and connected the laptop to an old but very faithful computer HP Laserjet 5 p. The HP Probook uses a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. The printer is connected to one of the USB ports on the laptop.

Printing worked fine until yesterday. To my knowledge, no update of the operating system took place. I tried change usb port, remove and reinstall the driver package, start and stop of the spool printing, deleting the temporary files in spool it print without result. When I click on print a Test Page, it seems to go to the printer, but is located in the coil. I also ran Print Microsoft FixIt which can't find any problem apart from the removal of the queue.

To check the cable, I plugged the printer on an old Vista HP Pavilion laptop and no problem printing.

I'm at a loss what to try next and would therefore appreciate all thoughts.

    Thank you.

How have you tried to uninstall the printer?

Here are some ways you can do it.

    1. go to the Start Menu

    2. all programs

    3 file HP

    4. choose the name of the printer

    5 down to uninstall.

Another way to check if it is deleted.

    1. click on Start Menu

    2. type in the Device Manager in the search bar

    3. in devices, look under the tabs, IMAGE Manager and DEVICES, PRINTERS and another tab that could involve the printer.

    4. If he's there, RIGHT CLICK and uninstall.
