• What is the difference between the PANTONE and spot colors

  I need help understanding a concept. In Illustrator, when I double click a nuance I get shade options. In this example, let's say it's one of the default witnesses. When I change the type of color in "Tones" and click OK, I've created a spot color, Yes? Nuance now has the white border with the triangle in the corner indicating. When I send to a printer they tell me that they need a pantone. I was under the impression that a printer would ink custom of my place and that would be printed as a color. Isn't this true? If spot colors must be Pantone, why the color type drop-down open PANTONE books?

  You cannot arbitrarily mix most of the inks in the real world, and so any custom mix formula is mostly meaningless. It is largely the point here.

  (a) it is much easier for main stores order just the premixed colors

  (b) if they mix custom colors, they still need to use specific base inks which are not only CMYK, since there is no way to obtain certain colors in other

  (c) only using correct formulae can ensure the appropriate density / saturation / brightness

  (d) you need to check against a reference color book / strip

  (e) simple chemical and physical factors prevent some mixes of color work

  This might be explained away constantly, but suffice it to say that, in all my years, I have not met a single printing could have mixed colors custom outside Pantone or here in Germany HKS and other systems. Not to say that it is impossible for some colors, but nobody does anymore.

• OfficeJet Pro 8100: Officejet Pro 8100 won't print color after update software on Mac

  I have a MacBook Air with OS X (Yosemite 10.10.3)-.

  When I connect the printer via USB, I was able to print by using the generic drivers on the machine. However, as expected, update software detected an update for HP drivers - I installed.

  And now the printer does not print in color. I checked every setting I can think, but it is still printing in black and white.

  Any help would be appreciated!

  I have read your current position and the previous thread on how you were not and are not able to print in color from your Mac running 10.10. I saw that already test pages were color printing and would like to know if the test always pages print in color. If they do, a matter for the Mac somewhere, and I have some suggestions for you to do below. If the test pages no longer print in color, please let me know! If the printer is not printing in color when you print test pages, there is probably a problem of cartridge or printer hardware problem.

  2. If you still do not have the ability to select the color printing on your Mac, try the procedure described in this post from wisgirl64: Re: won't print in color from my Mac or iPhoto for HP photosmart D110

  If you find that the color print test pages, and the Mac does not give you the options to choose color printing, I suggest getting in touch with Apple support experts to see if they can help fix the problem of the OS X.

  Why CMYK/RGB to Pantone in Illustrator CC values match the values given in the book of most Pantone color bridge?

  I understand the other threads that the game of RGB values is predetermined by society and not be replaced by something that (same Pantone).

  In addition, when you have the color of a Pantone ink and need to replace it with a set of CMYK or RGB values, it will always out one way or another. And if you need to combine several colors of replacement, they may well be out of different ways with the conversions provided by Pantone, which mean that they are inferior to the Pantone inks as necessary. Something similar may apply to cases with combinations of colors of substituted Pantone ink and CMYK/RGB of origin.

  Thus, at least in some cases it may be a better choice of retraining provided by Pantone CMYK/RGB values.

  In other words: who said that you agree, or should agree with the transformation (latest version) provided by Pantone in each case?

  It may be interesting to note that Pantone themselves have changed their minds about the best conversions more than once.

• LaserJet 200 color M251MW: driver software cannot find printer wireless HP Laserjet 200

  I have printer HP Laserjet above 200. It's worked great for me and another person in my office. However, I've changed computers, and no matter what I do, the driver cannot find the printer. The other person in my office can always print very well, and my old computer can print always very well. I have disabled the firewall, turn off network security essentials (it is not yet installed antivirus software), provided the IP address, network address, the name of the device, let the software to set up my connection Wireless for HP Direct print. I restarted the printer, restarted my computer, restarted the router wireless, connected the printer directly to my computer via the supplied USB cable. It does not find the printer. I can ping to the IP address of the printer and get a quick response. I can print to other printers on network in the building, I just can't connect using HP. !

HP needs to offer a thin driver that actually works, rather than trying to sell ink, just something that allows you to print would be useful. It's frustrating to spend 6 to 8 hours trying to configure a printer when the problem appears to be with the driver.

  For others with this problem, run the HP print scan doctor, download the driver again through this software, deselect all option provided with the driver software and continue.

  I have a ThinkPad W530 with color sensor and Pantone color standard. It has worked very well since I got the computer brand new for more than a year. Since last week, my color Stallion did not launch when I click on the notification "ThinkPad display must be postponed. I have the rotation icon, but it disappears after a few moments. I tried to do a restore and selected a time point before I think it happened. But the system refuses to return to this restore point, because he "can not find a file." What the? • Folder "Global colors without a name" of Pantone Color Manager ASE

  I'm not sure if this - or something similar - has been answered before, but I couldn't find any suitable thread/message /...

  All first of all system information:

  OSX imac running 10.8.x and macbook OSX 10.9.1 running

  * Illustrator CC

  * Pantone Color Manager

  I try to use the Pantone Fashion and home / color paper library provided by Pantone color Manager, clean for the use of the radiant missawi 18-3224 TPX (color of 2014). I saved the library named in a *.ase file and opened it in artificial intelligence. The number of colors, I guess, that all colors are imported, but I can't find the 18-3224. BUT there are a lot of 'no name Global Colors"with some of them who could be in question. Using 'pantone.ase xxd' in the terminal I can find at least the name "radiant 18-3224 TPX Orchid", which means, it is saved in the given file. Does anyone have an idea where start or - even better - how to solve this problem?

  Dear Scott:

  Your copy of PANTONE Color Manager is seriously out of date, because this problem has been fixed for a long time.

  To correct this, you will need to register at myPANTONE if you have not already done so - it is a free registration and will allow access to the PANTONE Color Manager update installer.  If you need to register you can do it first at https://www.pantone.com/pages/MYP_myPantone/mypMemberProfile.aspx.

  So here are the steps needed to correct this problem:

  1. delete all exported PANTONE FASHION + libraries HOUSE of all Adobe applications.

  2. log into your myPANTONE account and go to tools/downloaded software.

  3. download the PANTONE Color Manager for Mac or Windows Installer as appropriate.  It is the first product on the software downloads page.

  4. run the installer of PANTONE Color Manager directly on your current installation, which will update to version 2.1.

  5. the re-export the PANTONE FASHION + HOME of PANTONE Color Manager libraries for your Adobe products.  All exported PANTONE FASHION + HOME colors will now properly appear in Adobe Illustrator.

  Please note: when you start the PANTONE Color Manager Update, you will be asked to perform a "PantoneLIVE" update on the cotton F & H PANTONE library.  This update will remove the cotton F & H PANTONE and PANTONE F & H cotton - libraries of new colors and replace them with a single cotton F & H PANTONE library with all the colors of 2,100 in chromatic arrangement.

  I read with interest the 'thread' here about latest 336 PANTONE colors and thought I'd take the opportunity to set the record straight.

  PANTONE 336 new colors were introduced in April 2012, subsequent to launch PANTONE PLUS SERIES products in May 2010.

  Adobe CS6 is the first version of the suite Adobe to provide native support for PANTONE libraries MORE SERIES, this includes no 336 April 2012 latest PANTONE colors.  These colors are supported in PANTONE Color Manager software.

  PANTONE Color Manager has been designed in 2010 as a vehicle through which visitors to Pantone could keep their digital PANTONE libraries completely up-to-date.  The software is distributed for free for free with the purchase and registration of up-to-date PANTONE color guides and books.  Each PANTONE publication has a unique serial number which, once registered, it becomes the activation key for non-reusable activation of PANTONE Color Manager.  Thus, Pantone does not charge extra for a customer for libraries, in addition to the cost of PANTONE publications themselves. Customers who choose not to buy updated books, or who may need additional licenses in addition to the amount of books they own, can purchase PANTONE Color Manager for $49.00 per additional user license

  The current version of PANTONE Color Manager, version 2.1, contains support for PANTONE colors more recent 336 separate libraries and allows users to export these to Adobe CS6 and earlier versions.  Buying PANTONE Color Manager is installed, but are missing the colors more recent 336, can auto-updated to the software, or access their myPANTONE account and download the latest installer without charge.  The last installation running on the current installation program updates the software to the latest version.

• Multifunction Color LaserJet Pro 500 570: laserjet pro 500 color mfp software installation error 570dn

  Whenever I try to install my new printer, LaserJet Pro 500 color MFP 570dn software I get an error at 80%.  I tried using the disc that came with the printer and download the full software directly from HP.  I also tried with my anti-virus and firewall disabled.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit.  This is a new computer.  I was able to install it successfully on my old computer with the same OS.  I spent hours trying to solve this problem.  Help, please!  Thank you!

  Most of the time this means that there is something on the computer to interfere with the load.  The disk will be a file called scrubber.exe.  Find and run the program to remove any trace of the software of previous attempts and see if that solved the problem.  You can check in the Add Remove programs on the computer to see if the software of the printer has loaded in the past and if so, remove it before running the routine of the scrubber.

• PANTONE color Mismatch - Please Help!

  I'm sure this is an old topic, but I'm pulling out my hair at this time to try to understand why a color marked as Pantone Orange 021 C poster completely differently in the two files.

  Basically, I was sent a swatch source file to work from (in the form of a PDF document with coloured boxes and their Pantone code written on them), but when I copy and paste a color into my new file or select it from the swatches Pantone, color is completely different and in-depth has different LAB and CMYK colors to the original file.

  I see that my new file displays the color as a color of paper, in which case the source PDF displays colors in CMYK... that means that my source file was made using the non-Pantone book more color?

  If so, could someone please suggest how I could copy and paste these colors in my new files using the original CMYK values? Essentially, it is important that I keep the colors in my new compatible with the source PDF file - tips on how to do this would be greatly appreciated...

  P.S. I use Illustrator CC and made sure that I work in the same evidence in place.

  Yes, your source file was made with old books of color Pantone containing simulation CMYK values.

  Since the CS6 these CMYK values are no longer present in the Pantone libraries +, but Lab values are used to calculate the closest possible CMYK simulation based on your color settings.

  Lab values for this color have not changed.

  If you want to keep the old values CMYK, double click on the nuance in the swatches Panel in your old document and choose: Type color > color

• Displaying incorrectly in Illustrator Pantone colors

  I have an illustration with Pantone Coated colors, to be exact, they are 7459 and 646. Pantone in Illustrator colors are correct. But when the Illustrator EPS file is inserted into a Word document, the colors turn almost fluorescent, very different from the original colors. When the Word document is saved as a PDF using PDFMaker, the colours are fluorescent in the PDF file. In other words, the colors in the document Word and PDF match each other, but they do not match the true Pantone colors, and they don't match they way these true Pantone colors look like in Illustrator.

  If there is a way to keep the precise colors Pantone when you save an Illustrator EPS file and insert into a Word document?

  Have you tried to make a PDF of AI and that place in Word? Also try to use a RGB color mode to generate the PDF or EPS.

  I usually do my work in CMYK, but one of the concepts of my client require two Pantone colors. I use the Pantone swatch library colors and save as pdf print ready file. But, after sending a file to typography, I get my file back with the message that there is no Pantone colors - I have used CMYK. I don't convert all colors to CMYK before save, I googled on this topic and I'm sure I did everything right. I called guy of typography, and he told me how to convert Pantone colors. I did as he told me, but the result is always the same: Pantone colors went to the final pdf format. Is it possible, after registration in pdf format there is somewhere in the checkbox, which converts all colors to CMYK? Because I do other work for this client, I don't want to deal with this problem once again - so if anyone has an idea, what the problem is, I'll be very grateful for your answers.f this issue

• How to script Illustrator to get a library of shades PANTONE color chart

  I've searched high and low, but can't find the answer to this question.  Quite simply, I need a script to convert all spot colors PANTONE an Illustrator file in the PANTONE BRIDGE book CMYK equivalents.

  To do this, however, it seems necessary for the script to search through the various books PANTONE swatch library color to find the one I'm looking for.  I have a string that I need, but I don't see how ExtendScript can perform a search in the libraries of different shades (or even just the a library - 'Coated + PANTONE Color Bridge (UN)'.  I can't just to watch the nuances that are in the main "Swatches" palette using Document.swatches.  Any ideas?

  I'm afraid that code gives me an "MRAP" error in the ESTK.  But, I actually found a way around the problem by using your original suggestion to have a separate file with all color swatches Pantone, added to this, then the script can enter this shade, grasp its getInternalColor, turn it into a CMYKColor, then assign the extracted values of getInternalColor of four properties of the colors of the new shade.

• Mix colors Pantone - like CMYK channels?

  I just registered on the forum and had a look. Hello to all and I'm happy forums like this are around!

  So, my question is I hope that whoever is possible. I looked away but can't find no difinitive answer or maybe I did not write the question right but that's...

  What I want to do [in photoshop], treat 4 colors pantone CMYK channels. I mean by I would like to replace the Cyan, Magenta, yellow and black with my own colors [pantone colors] and ask them mix and act exactly like these channels. As when I open a full color image and my pantone [or any color] channels or color profile is activated, the full color image will react to these colors [with the mixture of colors].

  Instead of 45% yellow Cyan, 55% Magenta, 83% and 2% black in a given location, it would be a mixture of the 4 colors chosen [example: 45% pantone A, 55% Pantone B, 83% Pantone C, 2% Pantone D].

  or to say it another way, if I was to color the background in, say, a blue, I would be able to use the "Info" Panel to see how each pantone color was mixed to create this color. Of course, there would be a limit to the colors that I could create based on the pantone colors, that I select.

  How about using outdated color management settings, pre-profil CCI?

  Enter your color schemes, and select Custom CMYK as your working CMYK space. Under the colors of ink, select custom, defined the four colors by the eye and check the estimate overprints. It won't be very accurate and it would be certainly better done using color profiles, but I suppose you expect not much accuracy. And don't forget to change your settings back to something more appropriate for litho printing, if you don't have any.
