• Why can I not move objects and text boxes in Indesign CS5.5?

  I've recently upgraded to Indesign CS5.5.I have worked on a document and everything was fine, but I suddenly realized I could move is no longer areas of text or objects using the direct Selection tool and dragging. Objects do not just move. I can move them by selecting them and then painstakingly moving with the arrow keys. I can also reshape their dragging points middle and corners.   Hello everyone, I'm doing several States objects in InDesign CS5...  I have two objects multi-state on one page, and I have a few buttons in one of the several state object, when I checked the button actions, I don't see the second name of the multi-State under 'Object' for this button object.

  I created a document in InDesign CS5.5, who had a background image, and in addition to this, a small circle to act as a cutting guide for the printer knew where to drill a hole for the binding.   You can also try setting the object to multiply by transparency. It must ignore the rules of trapping.

  Working in CS6 on Mac OS X 10.7.5: when I double click on an INDD file in the Finder, I get the following error in InDesign:

  "The 'name of the doc' document could not be opened. InDesign can't open files in format 'InDesign CS5.5 Document '. »

  It started recently and I was not able to understand why. I've not updated INDD or OS X. I can't think of anything that has changed, except perhaps an update to Java. Have not updated the latest OS yet.

  The I'm opening the files are files that I created with CS6 - only a few minutes ago.  I can open fine using the file > open command in InDesign, so I can open them, but I can't open them by double clicking it in the Finder or by dragging the INDD icon in the dock.

  The info in the said Finder's "Get Info" window is configurΘ for dΘmarrer in CS6 CS6 files and I have permissions to read and write. They are not locked.

  It is not disabling, but rather annoying and slows me down since it is one of the most common ways I open files.

  Any suggestsion would be appreciated.

  Probably will not work because this looks like a problem of operating system of some sort, but you can try trashing the prefs see replace your preferences

  I'm having a problem with InDesign CS5.5 running on 10.7.5. I have two empty gaps that I need to remove, but every time I try, it asks:

  "The affected pages contain objects. Delete pages anyway? »

  I click OK and InDesign crashes all the time. There is no object on the page, I applied without a master unhid and unlocked everything and he can not know! Does anyone have a solution?

  Altogether. Resave as .indd (preferably with a new name in order to not replace the old file) didn't continue with the new file. Export to .idml has the effect of eliminating a lot of stuf that does not need to open the file (old record data and previews, which is rewritten) then sometimes it removes any minor problem that happens.

  Is anyone aware of a black halo around objects of transparent feathers. The halo occurs when the area full of pic feathers to transparency.

  NOTE: The Image looks fine in Photoshop (CS6), but when it is placed as a TIFF RGB in Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on the page. See Visual explanation below.

  

  This only happens when the image is a RGB Tiff and the layer mask is used to create transparency. If the image is saved as .psd, then it's fine. Also when tiff RGB is converted to CMYK, then it is ok.

  Ideally I might just start using the psd format, but I have to manage a lot of images that are already in tiff RGB and it's tedious to have to open and re-save all these.

• InDesign CS5 file does not open

  At my work, we work on the formatting of a book in InDesign. We use the same basic model for each file. I created a document preliminary pages with a table of contents (TOC), list of figures (LOF), list of tables (LOT), acronyms and glossary using this basic model. Everything worked fine; I was able to generate the TOC, LOF and MANY and could work with the file without problem. Then I saved and closed the file. Later that day, I was unable to open the file.

  The message I get includes the statement, "you might not have permissions or the file can be opened already."

  No one else was open, and there is no file locking. The other person using InDesign also cannot open it. I made a copy of the file and saved in another location and still couldn't open it.

  The files are all on our network. We use InDesign CS5 and Windows7 (64-bit). The only difference between this file and the others are the changes that I made to certain styles of paragraph OCD so two paragraphs could be displayed side-by-side in the table of contents (e.g., Chapter 1 Introduction on a single line, where Chapter1 comes a paragraph and Introduction by another with no leading on the style of a paragraph).

  Can anyone suggest a solution for this? It's quite urgent because the client must book at the end of next week.

  I just had a look at Indesign CS5 color management policies...

  Can someone clarify the following for me?

  From my tests, it looks like

  (1) when the embedded icc profile place an image in an indesign page is ignored and the "profile document' is used, unless it is activated manually by the user in any event (show import options) or (object > Image color Settings). This is despite the fact that the color settings are defined to preserve embedded profiles.

  (2.) by placing an image in an indesign page grayscale profiles are also ignored and and images of mono are simply located in a color space "grey" with no way to assign a particular profile or keep a profile embedded etc. This is despite the fact that the color settings are defined to preserve embedded profiles.

  (3.) by placing an image in an indesign page, there is also no way to manage the color of the illustrator files. Embedded profiles are ignored in the files have. This is despite the fact that the color settings are defined to preserve embedded profiles.

  looks like a bug to me...

  At a glance of your first bid looked like you have three specific objects (image, text, otherObjects) and you want to move all the images a specific layer images and text on another layer objects and rest to another specific layer. If what you wanted then my first code complete final will fill it but in your subsequent post it sounds like you want to move all the objects in your choice on different layers, if that's what you want then try my code below:

  I'm trying to place an image in a series of words in InDesign CS5. I know how and can get the image to be placed in one of the words, but I can't figure out how to get the image to be inserted into multiple words. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  We recently purchased Indesign CS5 EMEA version, and we seem to have put in Middle Eastern text conversion problems.

  When we use the horizontal flip, the text option is returned to a new location, rather than stay in the same place.

  (it seems that Indesing allows to reverse the text on an invisible line at the beginning of the object).

  We used this option before with CS3 without any problems. Are there changes to this option in CS5, or y at - there a guide on how to make the PAO for the languages of the Middle East?

  I have absolutely no experience in ME editions so I can totally wrong, but here's what I'm 99% sure it will be...  At the top left of your screen, you should see something like this:

  

  Put the black dot in the middle of it and you're away!  You probably never used before, if you don't know what it is but it is quite convenient, say if you want the text box to return it.
