Partition MBR SD card unreadable...

My specs:

My problem:

I bought a Sandisk extreme more MicroSDHC 32 GB for my Raspberry Pi 3 new

Then I installed Raspbian on it with this software (http://www.tweaking4all.com/hardware/raspberry-pi/macosx-apple-pi-baker/).

It worked, but I wanted to delete it to install Berryboot (for multi boot my DD, with other os like kali...).

In any case, I went to the disk utility and erase my DD and then...

My micro sd card became invisible!

I can't change its contents or anything... when I plug it to the computer py, it is said: the disk you insert is not readable by the computer.

In the system report, I could see that:

I tried a few commands in the terminal to get the sd card ( sudo TPG recover or sudo diskutil repairDisk )... but it failed: error: device contains a MBR.

I want just to clear the contents of my sd card and be able to 'see' and install a new os!

Please help me that I've waited so long for my raspberry pi 3 and now, I'm not able to play with her (and sorry for my English, I'm french).

Felix

Fix I just erase it with disk utility:

  • Partition GUID
  • MS BACK (FAT32)

  • I can't partition my microSC card.

Hello. I would like to define three partitions on my microSD with sizes de.3,.3 and 7.3 GB. The partition utility gives this error after using these size settings. I'm doing something wrong? The size of the partition is too small for the file type? I use FAT (fat32), I think. Partitioning works with the same default sizes. The micro sd card I have is 8 GB.

Open the Terminal and run the following command

    diskutil partitiondisk/dev/disk2 3 MBR - MS-DOS P1 P2 of ms - dos M 0.3 0.3 M ms - dos P3 R

Please check that the card SDXC has/dev/disk2 as disk identifier. Change it accordingly otherwise.

P1, P2, P3 are the names of the partitions. They must be capitalized.

  • Question about Table of Partition MBR

I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Premium SP2 with processor Dual-Core of AMD Athlon 64 X 2, 1 GB of ram and 150 GB of HARD drive.

My question is about the partition table in MBR. It shows 4 partitions it.

I have the Ultimate Boot CD, so I took a look at the MBR. Here are 4 partitions occupying its table:

    1. (without drive letter)-file system: blank - EISA config partition type code'n - 1.46 GB -: x 27
    2 C: - fs: ntfs - system, boot, primary, active partition - 92,01 GB - code: x 07
    3 D: - fs: ntfs - primary - 5.98 f - code: x 07
    4. (without drive letter)-fs: blank - primary - 5,64 GB - code: x 17

c: is free of 17%, d: is 99% free, the other two are 100% free

Can you explain what the purpose of D:? What about the other two (with no drive letter)? I read somewhere that ' x 17' code means "hidden IFS (ex: HPFS)' & 'x 27' means a rescue partition... true?". Do I need them, or I can remove the part'ns 3 (other than c :) & make use of space?

Looks like the recovery and BIOS utilities. You need to check with Toshiba so one any of them can be deleted.

  • Partition SD card problems

I have a laptop Hp Envy (product number: E1P05AV). Recently, I partitioned a sd card, I had so that I could start a recovery of the disk. It turned out that the start menu has not even listed. I know that I did something with it, but this isn't the problem. I decided to scratch this idea and my sd card back to normal. I used diskpart in the cmd to clean its partitions. It worked and the sd card has been back to the unallocated space, but something wasn't right. Whenever I put the sd card into the slot, it would provide for formatting. When I was going to format, I would say that she was unable to complete the format. I discovered that I could not use the sd card on my computer, unless I Redid the score again. I can't yet use another sd card unless it has the same properties of the partition as the first. It's as if the volume is stuck in the sd card slot. I hope it makes sense because it's hard to explain. Thank you'd know if someone could help me solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

    Good morning cck979,

    Thank you for your patience.

    SD Association

If you go to the above site and type format SD cards in the search bar will locate you a link to a module of formatting designed only for these cards.  This can help alleviate the problem.

If this does not work, try this in the administrator command prompt:

    1 Diskpart
    2. list Disk
    3. select disk 1 (replace 1 number reflecting your SD card)
    4. clean
    5. to create the primary partition
    6 asset
    7. format fs = fat32 quick
    8 assign

Be sure to select the right disc number, you do not want to accidentally clean one of your hard drives.

    I hope this has helped.

My computer is running very slowly - i7 (quad) 266 Mhz and Geforce 9800 GTX graphics card.  I had this computer for about a year.  The problems seemed to start about 3 months when I started to play a game - Empire Total war with Steam.  The computer ran more slow and more slowly, gradually.  I tried all the clean disk, speed up programs, he worked once for a few days and then become very slow.  Finally, I backed up my files and reformat the hard drive and reloaded windows 7.  My computer has nothing loaded except windows 7 and is always very slow! • Omen of HP: How to partition again my SSD 512 HP omen?

I recently bought a HP omen (windows 8.1, i7 processor, clock speed of 2.5 GHz, 512 GB SSD, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 4 GB of VRAM).

I'm having a problem with disk management (partitioning). When I open 'My computer', I noticed that my SSD is partitioned into two parts - CBank (460 GB) and Dshore (14 GB, HP recovery drive).

Previously, I used to partition my HARD drive into two so that I use my Cshore to the files system and Dshore storage and program purposes. I work with many important files and programs that I fear could be lost in the event of a recovery of the system. I'm not even being able to partition my 460 GB CBank now under disk management.

Please advice me in this regard on how to partition my CBank further and it is advisable to do this with SSD recent based computers laptops like mine.

The first thing you need to do is to create a USB stick recovery. You will need a 16 GB flash drive.

Be aware that any chenges in the recovery partitions will result in the loss of the ability to recover start-up or inside windows menu. Do not save anything in the score!

Why do you say that you can not even partition your C: partition in disk management?

Your operating system is partitioned into GPT format with UEFI support.  That means the main four-partition MBR partitions type limit does not apply. If you reduce the C: partition, you should be able to create multiple partitions without problem. Do not use the same drive letter that has the recovery partition.

I highly recommend that you use a cloning software to clone a copy of your SSD, as he is currently in an external hard drive. I recommend using Backup software Paragon & Recovery 15.

WARNING: since I'm a Microsoft MVP, Paragon Software provides copies me of reviewer of their software for me to see and use. I had great results with their backup products. Power completely backup hard drives allows me to really put the loans of HP product through the grinder.

  • Boot of satellite Pro M30 SD card

I have a satellite pro M30 with a 40 GB HDD (and no FDD), which I need to partition (using Partition Magic 8.0).

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THE SYSTEM TO BOOT FROM SD CARD?

Is it possible to put the discs recovery partition on SD cards and be able to perform a recovery from the internal SD card drive partition?

would it not possible to put Windows XP Pro startup disks on SD cards too?

    Hello

It is not possible to change the bootpriority of a Phoenix Bios (-Toshiba) on the SD card.

  • Cannot use the Windows Partition

So, I have seen very similar messages and followed several forums, but I can't yet figure out what to do next.

I have 8.1 Windows on my Mac.  I wanted to repartition the Windows partition and make bigger it because I was running low on space, and the Windows partition is what I use it mostly for graduate studies.  About a year ago, I took an easy youtube video and used Mini Wizard Partition re-partition space and it worked perfectly.  I have found the same video and tried to repartition the Windows partition again, but apparently I royally screwed up.

My BootCamp is not yet visible more in disk utility.  Under the partitions, there is an option called "disk0s4" greyed, but I'm not allowed to do something with it.  I can't verify or repair.  If I go to Applications, BootCamp Assistant is there, but he wants me to start the installation of BootCamp.  It was not an option to restart Windows more, and when I turned on with alt + market, Windows was not an option more.

    I followed this tutorial:

    http://nerdr.com/bootcamp-partition-lost-repairing-Mac-partitions/

and when I restarted my Mac, restart Windows was an option. So I thought that I fixed it! EVIL.  My screen was black and said: 'Missing Operating System '.

I downloaded EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac (because it was another suggestion), and I was able to recover and see the files on the NTFS disk0s4, so I'm quite positive, they have not all been completely erased.  Or at least the part of basic Windows is still there.  I can't recover the drive to anything, because it tells me that I will just be fitness on the same drive, and I honestly don't know how to retrieve these files will help with the side of the partition of things.

I also used TestDisk and it seemed to find my missing partition, but in the middle of analysing it, it says something like "disk too small."  After further research, I went through and took only the most recent score that seemed to be deleted with NTFS, and when you are trying to do, it would allow me to make a 'logic' partition because he said something in red, as 'bad file.'

My Mac still works perfectly, but I'm terribly need to recover my windows.

  • Who shares the style to be used: MBR or GPT?

    Hello

When formatting the SSD on my T440s, I can choose between two stules of partition: MBR and GPT.

    Which one to use?

    Lenovo says:

"Use MBR only when intend to use the image of the cloning tools or third-party disk management tools that require an MBR partition for compatibility purposes.

I don't know what they mean by that?

MBR is the old style boot record that exists for almost always. TPG is the new format design. Some disk utilities, especially the free, have never been updated to deal with GPT disks. Some programs will require upgrades. A year ago, I started using GPT for everything. The only downside I've found is that if you try to modify or to change the tables of partitions by hand, it's more complicated. I needed to update my old versions of Paragon Partition Manager and Acronis (the backup software I use)

  • How to change the drive of the mbr on uefi on want 700-414

    Hello

I just got a 700-414 desire, and there windows 10. It has a configuration partition mbr and I would like to change it to TPG to make use of secure boot.

Can someone help me? I know there are a few tools that will change on the fly without data loss, but I fear that it does not start after I do this.

    Thank you

    Tom

    Hello

I tried to do the exact thing you want using a two third-party tools and details of the versions of the W10 and S8. The HD has been converted to GPT without data loss, but converted HD could not start.  At this point, do not want to spend more time on the effort I have so just install the operating system using the UEFI.  As a practice, I keep my data on the operating system boot drive.

  • How cancel the installation of Win XP after the partition has been implemented

    Hello

I put my pc in place and came to a point when I need to install the operating system. I went with XP because it's what I had at the time. I did the partition and restarted with a GUI screen pc and starts the installation. I came across some problems with drivers associated with SP1 here. I stopped, knowing I could get Win7 within a few days.

Later I am OS Win7 and tried to install it, but the pc would start in the set up mode tries to install the XP. I tried to cancel when you start upward with F3 and ESC, but he would always go together to the top. Is it possible to cancel this be implemented despite the score. How can I access BIOS from here? Any help is very appreciated.

    Thank you!

Proceed with the installation, I can't, I can't cancel it. Any suggestions?

  • SanDisk extreme pro 128 GB cannot create the NTFS partition

    Hello
I have a sandisk extreme pro 128 GB usb and I try to format it to NTFS in windows and it is impossible.
The only way I success for formatting on my MAC but the NTFS partition is not visible in Windows...
Use NTFS or HFS partition without problems, but on Windows the button does not work on my MAC and can...
Does anyone have a solution for me?

PS: I try windows XP, 7 or 8.1 nothing works...
Windows see 2 partitions on my key, but cannot format.

I just fix myself... about here was a good idea LoL

So my problem was when I format the key the first time I use my MAC, and by default the MAC use GUID partition to format the key and on Windows, we should use MBR partition.

Then when I format the USB on my MAC using disk utility, on the score of "variants" tab change when to create an NTFS partition MBR (instead of default GUID) partition

After this, format the key and that's it!

Its working fine now, I'm happy with this beautiful, design USB by Sandisk ;-)

  • How free space on the partition system reserved when the usual FSUTIL USN DELETEJOURNAL command does not work?

When you try to make the system images, I found that the system reserved (100 MB) partition can be a problem if it has less than 50 MB of free space.  In my case it was after execution of FSUTIL USN DELETEJOURNAL/d/n and 34 MB free disk space is only 40 MB.  I also tried without the flag/n.

I had just restored the system from an image so I felt comfortable to make new changes.  I deleted the fonts and directories of different language from the startup directory (the directory of fonts took about 10 MB).

I see a file name {hex 64 bit I think} in the System Volume Information directory, which was 32MB in size.  I tried to remove it but no luck.

After you remove the fonts, and the other languages, I had a lot of free space to perform the system image.  I'm not comfortable actually using this image, go ahead yet, but I'm looking for someone who might know what is and isn't OK to do with this partition.  I would have done it 150 MB when I installed everything first if I had an idea I was going to suffer like that on a meager 18 MB.

    Thank you.
