partitioned for large logs table

Hi, we are looking to use oracle 11g as a newspaper database with partitioned tables.

-The tables will have only a 3-5 columns of size ~ varchar (50)
-We look at a volumn of ~ 33million lines (inserts) per day.

(1) partitioned tables will be able to manage this type of volume?
(2) if so, is a Composite partitioning (last updated the datetime using as range) then subparition with the range will be the best choice?

If this type of volume is too high for 11g, what are some alternative products, we can use.

Thank you

This is to store the history of the price of the stock. History table is a better word than the journal, the table is queried by date/key.

We seek to 30mil a day for conservation of 2 years. It is about 21 billion lines.

can a handful of oracle partitioned table this kind of size with a yield acceptable guess we use partition function Beach and has a cluster on the queried key/date key.

Also curly said: sointenly!

You said the "cluster" key Do you mean the partition key?

So just create a partitioned table INTERVAL partitioned by day.

DROP TABLE SCOTT.PARTITION_DAILY_TEST CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;

CREATE TABLE SCOTT.PARTITION_DAILY_TEST
(
  ID       NUMBER(10),
  MY_DATE  DATE
)
PARTITION BY RANGE (MY_DATE)
INTERVAL( NUMTODSINTERVAL(1,'DAY'))
(
  PARTITION P_EXISTING_20120401 VALUES LESS THAN (TO_DATE(' 2012-04-01 00:00:00', 'SYYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS', 'NLS_CALENDAR=GREGORIAN'))
);

New partitions will be created automatically, and you can easily remove older as you wish.

    Who says that the date is invalid. ? It is a partition of the range - which means that each partition covers a range. And if you bothered to read in the SQL Reference Guide on how the definition of a partition of the range, you will notice that each partition is defined with the value end of the range it covers. There is no starting value - as the end of the previous partition is the "+ border +" between this and the previous partition.

    I suggest that before you use a database feature first become familiar you with it. Another evil to use and making assumptions wrong about it, more than likely outcomes.

  • Find the right Partition for swap Partiton when there are PARTITION and SUBPARTITION

    Hi all

    I have a small problem:

    I want to find the right cause of partitions of the partition key.  I have a partition and a Subpartition (sample - table in annex).

    I leave the database to generate the partition (and name), the name is generated. I need to find for the exchange of partition

    the right of Partition has cause of a given value of the partition key (in this case EVOD_PART_DATE and 20141101 value).

    When I try to find the right partiton name, I would use generally not:

    SELECT DISTINCT dbms_rowid.rowid_object(ROWID) data_object_id
       FROM F_CONTRACT_EVENT
       WHERE  EVOD_PART_DATE = TO_DATE ('20141101','YYYYMMDD')

    Okay, I get 2 rows, I'm expecting one, but cause the result are the subpartions, I get this:

      SELECT *  FROM ALL_OBJECTS WHERE DATA_OBJECT_ID IN ( 155159,155154);

    I see:

    EVO_DM    F_CONTRACT_EVENT    SYS_SUBP4292    155159    155159    TABLE SUBPARTITION
    EVO_DM    F_CONTRACT_EVENT    SYS_SUBP4287    155154    155154    TABLE SUBPARTITION

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for Berlin

    First of all - the DOF you posted is INVALID - you do not specify a delayed segment creation for partitions. Specify you for the table.

    Also, you must remove the DEFAULT value - 1 for the partitioning column. The value '-1' cannot be converted to a valid date for the virtual partitioning column value.» The default value is useless and will give confusion around the year exception err when the exception should actually provide a NULL value for a column not null.

    The documentation explains how to use the EXCHANGE PARTITION and has the code example

    Maintenance of Partitions

    Exchange a Partition of a partitioned Table interval

    You can exchange of range partitions in a partitioned table interval. However, you must make sure that the partition of the interval was created before that you can swap partition. You can leave the database create the partition in the partition of the interval of locking.

    The following example shows an Exchange partition for the interval_sales table, range-partitioned using the monthly from partitions of 1 January 2004. This example shows how to add data to the table using charge Exchange partition for June 2007. Assume there is only a local index on the interval_sales table and equivalent index have been created on the interval_sales_june_2007 table.

    LOCK TABLE interval_sales  PARTITION FOR (TO_DATE('01-JUN-2007','dd-MON-yyyy'))  IN SHARE MODE;    ALTER TABLE interval_sales  EXCHANGE PARTITION FOR (TO_DATE('01-JUN-2007','dd-MON-yyyy'))  WITH TABLE interval_sales_jun_2007  INCLUDING INDEXES;

    Note the use of the FOR syntax to identify a partition that has been generated by the system. The name of the partition can be used by querying the *_TAB_PARTITIONS view of data dictionary to find the partition system-generated name.

    Given that the last paragraph? That's what showed Solomon.

    NOTE:-special attention to the FIRST paragraph. If you use segment carried OVER creating the partition you want to Exchange could NOT have been created yet.

    Make SURE that you lock the partition as the example shows, or you will get an exception if it has not been created.

    Also - we know NOT what PROBLEM you're trying to solve.

    If you exchange a PARTITION of a table subpartitioned your working table should actually be partitioned using the SAME parttioning as the subparts in the source table:

    See my response in this thread:

    https://forums.Oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2482090&TSTART=30

    In this thread I have provide the code example illustrating how the table should be created and made Exchange.

  • Request: Make these more fast screws for large tables

    Hey everybody,

    Did anyone mind take a look at these two screws? They work very well for small data sets, but they are starting to take up to 200ms each for large arrays (~ 5000 rows x 2 columns). The first actually sends data to the 2nd, so the total delay when running these screws may be 400, 500 ms. Too much to use them in real time.

    Reminder of how they are used:

    The user can click or click-and - dragging on a graph of intensity to create a card to die to test. These VI are run to update a list of that die are selected and a list of how the machine will move. In mode click - drag, these VI create a very big delay in the response of the public Service.

    First VI:

    The entrance is a 2D table 1 or 0, indicating the test or not test. The output is a 2D line (Nx2) table, column numbers should be probed.

    Second VI:

    The entrance is a table 2D (Nx2) R, C numbers (from the 1st VI). This VI calculates a relative movement of the current matrix with the following matrix. The output is a table 2D (Nx2) of the relative motions (Y, X). Example: ((2,4), (5.1)) back in ((0,0), (3, -3)).

    I've already cut the running time up to half of what it was, but it is still not fast enough. And Yes, the limits of error are not connected, I know :-)

    Screws (also attached):

    So, what do you think? Is there some Subvi I don't know which completely replaces the 1st VI? Is one of the Subvi I use inherently slow?

    Is it me or does Linksys WRT54GL v1.1, with its v4.30.13, no newspaper "Incoming log Table" firmware? I have a PLP_2001FY partition and I want to share this partition with an empty table (ex: DRB_WHOLE_DATA_TEMP) structured as DRB_WHOLE_DATA (this table already exists).

    Thank you

    Do you mean that you want to fill the empty array with the contents of the partition?

    If so:

  • Move the data from the partitions again tablespace - direct table filled by ETL

    Hello

    We have a large composite table date-range/hash partitioned table (using time partitioning 11.2.0.3 range)

    1 partition for each month and each such partition 4 under separate partitions.

    We want to move some data from most significant storage but also direct table and inserted in all the days as part of the data warehouse and large table want to ensure

    operations below result in errors in the data loading procedure

    Suppose also should not take long to run lines 40 million or more each month.

    Select *.

    Of user_tab_partitions

    Where table_name = 'CUSTOMER_TRANSACTION '.

    And nom_partition like 'SYS % '.

    1. (1) Alter table retailer_transaction and rename partition < nom_partition > CUST_PART_ < YYYYMM >

    1. (2) tablespace create dedicated for the month of the affected partition

    1. ((3) alter table retailer_transaction move tablespace subpartition < sys... > < partition_tablespace > created in 2) above

    ALTER table retailer_transaction change the default attributes for the partition < CUST_PART < YYYYMM > < tablespace in 2 above > tablespace)

    4 global index which would eventually rebuild afterwards due to the transition if movement makes no valid.

    Several local bitmap indexes that belong to partitions.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you

    I agree in a good store of data, everything should be according to the best practices ETL or guideline. I guess it is a FACT table, because it's big enough. A method that I can share (followed in the real world big DW) is "ELP" IE Partition Exchange loading. You can find the basic architecture of the Internet.

    The basic architecture is as

    The source (in your case partitioned) Table--> (unpartitioned) intermediate Table--> Table possible target (partitioned)--> the cleaning activities (and overtime).

    You can use any ETL tool for this (I won't mention any other reasons).

    Later, you can delete the original table and use that new table as your FACT table, your application will be available all the time. There are drawbacks as most uses of double-spaced, other than normal ETL these work will take certain amount of resources so that other ALS etc. In addition, if you load a few current days during these activities you plan / program accordingly.

    Your demo is also fine, but regular ETL may fail because you rename the partitions (some uses of ETL tool partition name, in case you ever ELP) also unusable global indexes can cause failure (you have local too?).

    I'm so confused.  Is log_dttm a TIMESTAMP, you said in the story, or is it a DATE, as you say in the CREATE TABLE statement, or is it a VARCHAR2 as Thur INSERT statements?  I'll assume it's a DATE.

    I left out an important step yesterday.  The computation of the last_start, we need to use a CASE statement so that we record only the time of events STRT.

    Here's the revised query:

    WITH got_last_start AS

    (

    SELECT id, log_type_flg, log_dttm

    LAST_VALUE (CASE

    WHEN log_type_flg = "STRT".

    , SUM (log_dttm - last_start) OVER (PARTITION BY ID.

    ORDER BY log_dttm

    ) * 24 * 60 AS total_elapsed

    OF got_last_start

    WHERE log_type_flg IN ("CMPT", "PAUS")

    ORDER BY id, log_dttm

    ;

    Output of your sample data:

    ID LOG_ ELAPSED TOTAL_ELAPSED LOG_DTTM

    -------------- ---- ------------------- -------- -------------

    1111 PAUS 09-26 - 2013:09:09:58.17.17

    1111 CMPT 09-26 - 2013:10:09:58 1.00.83

    2222 CMPT 09-26 - 2013:12:09:58 180.00 180.00

    3333 CMPT 09-26 - 2013:10:09:42 59.73 59.73

    In Oracle, when you subtract one DATE from another DATE, the result is the NUMBER of days between them.  In the above query, I multiplied the past columns and total_elapsed by the number of minutes per day (24 * 60), to show the time in minutes.

    IMP System/Manager of the user PRD_USER touser = PRD_USER = ignore = file_name = «...» ' log = «...» ».
    Succeeds the import for about 25 tables and indexes and constraints, but it fails for a single table with the error: {I don't remember the error ORA- and I do not have access currently} DEV_TBL tablespace does not exist.

    Of course this tablespace does not exist on production env. But how this problem arises because the default tablespace for the user is not DEV_TBL but PRD_TBL...?

    Do you have any idea what can be the cause and how can I overcome this problem when importing...? {Note: I gave a temporary solution... take the table creation sql script leaving aside the reference of the tablespace "DEV_TBL"}.

    If the table has Partitions, import strives to create the Partitions (in the CREATE TABLE statement) on the original table space.

    OR there is a LOB segment in the table import strives to create on the original table space.

    Welcome to the forums.  Firstly (and this is just my personal opinion) you can actually have a bit more large partition for the operating system.  Just to receive the updates and service packs and other.

    This article will show you how to change the default location of My Documents.  Also when you install programs then ensure you that you change the default installation directory, it will try to go on the C: drive.

  • Partitioning of an existing Table using the EXCHANGE PARTITION

    Hi all

    I have one unpartitioned table I partitioned by Exchange, this table has several indexes and constraints (primary and foreign).

    ALTER TABLE notpart_table ADD (
        CONSTRAINT PK_KCESPITI PRIMARY KEY (K_CESP, TIPORD)
            USING INDEX TABLESPACE TBLS_CONTA,
        CONSTRAINT FK_KCONTO_CE FOREIGN KEY (K_CONTO) REFERENCES xxxx (K_CONTO));

    CREATE INDEX IX_NFATTURA_CE ON notpart_tab (ANNO_FATTURA, K_REGISTRO, K_REGFA, TIPORD)
        TABLESPACE TBLS_CONTA;

    after Create a partitioned Table Destination

    notpart_table2, I created the same constraints and indexes defined in notpart_table

    When I run

    ALTER TABLE notpart_table2
      EXCHANGE PARTITION PART_notpart_table2
      WITH TABLE notpart_table
      WITHOUT VALIDATION
      UPDATE GLOBAL INDEXES;

    I get: ora-02266

    Why?

    Thanks in advance for any help

    It is not exactly what you have. Very probably not partitioned table, you are partitioning is the parent to another table table:

    SQL > create table tbl1 (id number)
    2.

    Table created.

    SQL > alter table tbl1
    2 Add the constraint tbl1_pk
    3 primary key
    4.

    Modified table.

    SQL > create table tbl2 (id number)
    2.

    Table created.

    SQL > alter table tbl2
    2 Add the constraint tbl1_fk1
    3 foreign key
    4 references tbl1
    5.

    Modified table.

    SQL > insert into tbl1 values (1)
    2.

    1 line of creation.

    SQL > insert into tbl2 values (1)
    2.

    1 line of creation.

    SQL > create table tbl1_part (id number)
    2 partition by range (id)
    3 (partition p1 values less than (1000000))
    4.

    Table created.

    SQL >
    SQL > alter table tbl1_part
    Exchange 2 partition p1
    3 with table tbl1
    4 without validation
    5 update global indexes
    6.
    with table tbl1

    If so, of the foreign key and recreate it pointing to the partitioned table as parent after finished partitioning the table.

  • How add us partition on an existing table?

    Hi gurus,

    What would be the best way to add a partition to an existing table?

    Is there a simple documentation for example?

    Thank you

    Was it something you were ask in an interview?

    You cannot add a partition to a table unless this table is a partitioned table.

    The table is already partitioned? If so, after the DDL.

    The Oracle documentation has examples of adding partitions to a table that is already partitioned

    Partition management

    Adding Partitions

    This section explains how to manually add partitions of a partitioned table and explains why partitions can be added specifically for partitioned more indexes.

    Adding a Partition to a partitioned Table range

    Use of the ALTER TABLE ... ADD PARTITION statement to add a new partition at the end 'high' (the point after the last existing partition). To add a partition at the beginning or in the middle of a table, use the SPLIT PARTITION clause.

  • Cannot add the partition to an existing table.

    Hello

    I don't add the partition to an existing table that is not partitioned, get the error as a type of data not valid, then I'm not find syntax errors.

    ALTER TABLE MESSAGEX_XCHANGE

    ADD THE PARTITION OF RANGE (LAST_MODIFY_TIMESTAMP)

    (

    PARTITION old_data VALUES LESS THAN (To_TIMESTAMP('27/02/2014','DD/MM/YYYY')),

    You see for VALUES LESS THAN (To_TIMESTAMP('28/02/2014','DD/MM/YYYY')) of the PARTITION

    );

    Error report:

    SQL error: ORA-00902: invalid data type

    1. 00000 - "invalid data type".

    * Cause:

    * Action:

    Thank you

    Manon...

    You get this error because your edit statement has an invalid syntax. In addition, you cannot partition a table that is not already configured for partitioning!

    You have to physically re-create the partitioned table in order to add new partitions to it.
