• Number of Dimensions of Essbase

  Dimensions of 12 to 13 in Essbase too? (Block or global storage). I have a request for a database, but it seems that they want up to 13 dimensions.
  I was told at one point that the optimal number was 9

  The question is, users will be able to load to the dimensions of the attribute using Excel?

  ^ ^ ^ Not that I know of. How do you see the attributes used against that? Attributes this fact projects and relationship id doc? Who's going to be difficult. I guess you could stick the two dimensions of attribute on the sheet, then remove the lack, then Pierce to zero in two dimensions with delete missing. That's assuming that you already have all the intersections of data defined.

  Maybe it shouldn't be attributes, but rather real dimensions?

  Could come you up with some type of partitioned (can be a partition of Essbase reall or some kind of ETL would be given export and import) approach where you wrote to a smaller cube with less information and wrote for the big one?

  Or you could do something cool with Dodeca where you understand all relations between id doc and project and then this number just as the information on the worksheet. The relationship between the two dimensions, with a view to entry, could be dealt with in a relational back-end and then only the members that you want to appear in a form of input.

• Export of Partitions

  How to export partitioning in Essbase in xml format.
  
  Also I couldn't copy partitions from one application to another because the option is not available in the Regional service console, although the documentation States it is available.
  
  I used the ESSCMD to copy partitions from one application to another and the command executed successfully copy the new .ddb file in the folder of the target application database.
  
  But I'm unable to view partitions copied in the console of Regional service under the application database partition field.
  
  To view the list of the copied partitions, I tried following ways:
  (1) update the list of scores.
  (2) update the list of applications.
  (3) the reconnection to the ESSBASE server.
  (4) by restarting the ESSBASE server.
  
  But nothing has worked.
  
  Any help appreciated.

  Hi Raja,

  In the Regional service console under the application partition right click on the source/target partition and select export partition to NomFichier.xml, after having done that, you can create a new app/cube and import the partition.

• Essbase partitioning problem

  Hi all

  I use the version of the application 11.1.1.3 essbase and trying to create partition using maxl script. I get the error message below. But the score is created successfully.

  Please could you let me know why I get this error even if the partitioning is created.

• Essbase partitioning

  Hello everyone,

  I have been reading up on partitioning and hoped that someone could either point me to the best resources online to understand (I tried especially to the SER60) or perhaps confirm or knock down my thought.  I currently have two applications I built, one that contains our general ledger (cube BSO) for financial services and the other that contains the loan data (cube ASO).

  Hypothetically, if I created a linked partition and was able to associate certain dimensions should not I can (for example) select a ready to Smartview accounting and effectively retrieve information from the cube ready?  If I think about it all wrong please let me know.

  Hmm, not - that can't happen quite the way you want.  At the very least, you need to create different members of your partition "target", for example, "L12345-principal" and then "L12345-discounts.  This could then be mapped to the ready cube through the definition of the partition, which, frankly, would be very complex and painful to maintain.  You cannot "L12345" appear under a parent and show the value of X and appear under a different parent and show the value Y.

  Ironically, since this was just listed as a deprecated feature a couple of weeks, this could be the best deal for a partition bound, where you can enter your financial data cube of a cell and pop up a sheet separated with a recovery in another cube.

  Of the options available, I think relational drill-through may be the best solution, especially if you already have the individual load data in a relational database that is staged.  This would require the construction you cube (or new in engineering backwards) so Essbase Studio.

• How not to create a partition on an essbase server without using the domain name and the port using the MXL script?

  We know that we can create partitions on the SERVER NAME, SERVER. AREA: PORT only and ESSBASECLUSTERN founded through the Regional service CONSOLE.

  Now my question is how to do the same to CREATE or REPLACE the PARTITION script.   By default, it's get created using SERVER. AREA: PORT only.

  Here is my script that I use to create a partion.

  I solved this problem.

  Its very simple all my code and approach was right.

  Everything I did wrong is an active directory account to create the partition and check used a native account on EAS. If you log in with the account active directory - the partition is under the name of SERVER only.

  I was created the transparent partition between the two application on 2009 for the dimension account. I used the function @DESCENDANTS ("Accounts") both source and target for the dimension account.
  
  In 2010 I've updated the Account dimension with two additional members for a single application. If I look at the outline of applications to the title of count of members members are different.
  
  in this case transparent partition will work for the application. If I try to work now.

  No, you should see the data immediately.

  Have a close look if you have set your correct POV. See where the data are in the source cube.

  The problem is that I need to use essbase sever and not easserver. What is the cause of this and is there a way to fix this? @

  Adding entries to host files is a quick fix and I would usually recommend it as if change of IP addresses, then problems may arise, personally, I would update the ODI packet to take the road of cluster that she practices probably better, it could still be done with variables.

  The choice is really yours.

  Thanks to the contributors.

  The contours of the source and the corresponding target, with the exception of 3 members with different names in the source and target.
  My score has 2 spaces for these 3 members. Mapping advanced between the names of source and target members has been set in a field, but it was missing in the other (not detected by the validation of the partition!). I don't set it too and now no more warnings.

  I have a problem with exporting data into Essbase, it works slow veeerz.

  Steps to reproduce->

  1 start export step in order to export/load data into Essbase. Starting export message display processing, please wait... and it hungs here. Export process never ends.

  Thanks for the reply. Problem solved. Problem was in configuration. In Essbase dimension entity adapter has been disabled, and in the script, in addition, there was an inplanted value '-'. When we activated the entity dimension in Essbase adapter, export to Essbase lasts 20 sec.

  Trying to create a transparent wall.

  Source and target on the same server.

  Source is EAL cube - Cube created through link Analytics of HFM

  Source target n - @Idescendents of all Member areas.

  No mappings defined.

  Validation works fine just thinking that it seems to me a message saying "Partition Creation failed."

  -any other partition exists
  -all active connections on two databases if yes to disconnect all users with force

  then create back partition and if still the problem can share you the essbase so logs.

• MaxL partition Load, number EssbaseCluster-1

  I have a transparent partition ASO - BSO I'm loading via the MaxL script editor in the EA. The following works:

  However, by using the actual name of the server causes orphans. I'd rather just use 'EssbaseCluster-1', but it retains the treatment, as if it were a host name of the server/somewhat as the Essbase cluster internal so it says host not found.  Curiously however, if I use MaxL to generate the code, it generates in there as you would expect but then does not accept it. The exact error I get is:

  "Network error: could not detect the server ESSBASE listens on protocols of IPv4 or IPv6 network on hostname - [EssbaseCluster-1].

  I recently had to create a partition via MaxL that referenced the name of the cluster instead of the name of the physical server.  (This is necessary if you are using an active/passive configuration in Essbase).

  Here is my code, with areas, maps, etc. pulled out for simplicity.  I hope this will help.

  Login username password on "http://ServerName:13080/aps/Essbase?" "ClusterName = EssbaseCluster-1';

  create or replace the transparent wall SourceAppName.SourceDBName

  FYI - in this first line, make sure that you reference the server running APS.
