  everything seems to be quite appropriate when cking pc settings, HOWEVER, my HP Support Assistant was correct info to the bottom of the page where it says that I need a new ID for the operating system. I should just close the wizard checks to see if that will work around this info and maybe allow the updates downloaded install OR am I following a false trail?

  I lost hours and hours for months trying to find a solution to this CHALLENGE without talking about money spent on assistance and programs that were supposed to address.

  Has anyone else had such a challenge. Y at - it a solution?

  After you install the update 8.1 Windows for x 64 systems (KB2919355) , there was an error after startup saying that MMdriver load application stopped working or something.

Click on the Windows button and type Device Manager. You must click with the right button in Device Manager and update drivers for graphics that are listed.

  Hello, I'm moving from my laptop to 8.1 64-bit windows windows 7. This laptop was originally 8 win but downgraded because I hated it. So when I have the legacy mode off my boot USB drive will not be displayed. When I allowed legcacy fine appears! However, I get an error when you select my installation disk (windows cannot be installed, the selected disk is of the GPT style). How to format my drive for MSR or no matter what format prefferd is for windows 8? I formatted my C: / containing my old installation win7 so I can't do it in a GUI environment. Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate it :-)

  I'm having the same problem.  HP Pavilion 8 ran windows updates and now every time it starts it goes directly to the screen of failure and never returns.  The laptop is never in the office so none of these suggestions work.  Any other ideas?

  New EVO SSD 840 with the new windows 7 x 32, which replaces the old HARD disk drive and Vista.

  Everything works well and connects every time from the boot, but windows update continues to work forever.

  Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

  Sorry, but HP has shown no sign that it grows some BIOS updates for older machines.  I have a HP DV6 and the update in 2011.

  I came across similar problems with my HP DV6 - it would always block partially through the update, and then I do a factory reset to get it working again.

  What DOES not work for me has been an own-made from a USB key, created installation using the latest version of Win10 obtained by using the tool of creation of MS Media: 10 Windows Installer by using the tool of creation of media - Windows help

  My setting for Windows Update has always been - automatic.  When I realized that the update had done nothing since April, I tried an update manually and repeatedly getting the message: ' Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running.   Paul - the link was not one I wanted to try. I found this fix on the Forum of MS response:

  Go to Control Panel > click on Windows Update

  Click change settings (upper-left)

  under updates, click on the drop down arrow

  Click never check updates

  Press OK

  Close the Control Panel window

  Then the closing session and Re-start Windows fresh.

  When you're ready, go back into the Control Panel > click on Windows Update

  Click on change settings (upper-left)

  under updates, click on the drop down arrow

  Now make the choice you need for automatic updates

  Press OK when done

  Close the Control Panel window

  Then make a fresh visit to Windows Update.

  If you have already tried the fixes that didn't work, the foregoing can at least get a point better, "but with update errors then you can do a system restore.  I did mine to the last point of "automatic system restore" which was 31/05/12.

  It worked for me and I spent 2.5 hours installing all missed updates.  My computer works better when it is new!

  I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 Premium Edition on a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop after changing the hard drive failed. My first attempt at the time. After installing all the drivers I could find on the site of HP, I was up and running, but done Windows Update always looking.
