  DST = disk Fail hard drive has not failed and must be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

  The default ID above refers to the failure of hard drive. You need to replace the hard drive, then reinstall the operating system once the hard drive is replaced.

  I have laptop HP Pavilion G6-1203ey. After installing Windows (7 ultimate, 64-bit) and some drivers on this topic and after several reboots, it hung at the Windows logo and I had to power off with the power button / stop. Then after having turned it on, it gave me the opportunity to fix problems that impede it to start, there let him to restore the computer to a previous restore point and after a reboot, the windows worked again.   The former owner told me that the original HARD drive was defective, reason for which he replaced with this last year. He said that other than that, no problems with the laptop.   I read your post and looked into the ID of failure that you have published on the test runs DST failed. This error indicates a hard disk failure meaning that if it failed there could soon. If everything works I would be given for the backup of your data on a regular basis, just to be sure. You may have a local tech take a look at the hard drive to see how it is at the complete failure.

  This failure code is a disk HARD error 303 "HDD 1 quick test failed." In your case, I would recommend allows you to replace our HARD drive.

  The error code for Long drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that the hard fails / lacks and needs to be replaced.

  Back up the data on external hard drive

  If you have recovery disks, it can be used to reinstall the OS after the replacement.

  Stop using the laptop. Replace the hard drive with a new one. Get a SATA to usb adapter to connect the old drive (which you will eliminate) to another computer to try to save the data. There is a good chance of data is still recoverable this way.
