Pavilion dv6 3010so not start

My laptop does not start correctly. This happened after I had to force close is there a few days after it froze.

When I start it, it almost goes right to the black (I am able to press ESC to switch to the Boot Menu screen). The power light is on, as well as not soun andWiF lights (F11 and F12) and the hard drive and the battery is running

I tried a hard reset, but it does not work. I tried to connect to the TV, but I get no picture

I tried to run a start-up test and a run to here, and the two tests failed

When I enter the start menu and press F11 to perform a system recovery, I get a blue screen with a picture (original startup screen, maybe?), and after about 10-15 minutes, I have the option to format.

Should I format, or even send it in for repair? I would really like to avoid this because I have files, I want to first of all access.

So, it's official. The HARD drive has failed. It's a little depressing, but well, they are easy to replace!

    Hello

Try to remove and re-seating memory module - the procedure is detailed from Page 68 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Failure to correct the problem, as your laptop is still under warranty, your best option is to contact HP and make arrangements for this repaired under warranty - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.

It might be a bug in the BIOS. It could also be a loose contact between the hard disk and the connector. 2 x a year is nothing serious and I'd be worried about this...

  • My HP Pavilion DV6 will not start after replacing the screen

I just replaced a cracked screen by following the instructions in the maintenance manual and now it does not start. The power light turns on and the fan works but nothing else happens. What can I do to trouble shoot this problem?

The most common problem is the connection of the cable to the screen.  Make sure that it is tight. Check the connection to the motherboard as well, but it's usually OK.

  • Pavilion dv6 does not start.

I realize how close to, it is impossible to help someone fix a computer on the Internet, but I thought I should give it a shot.

When I start the computer to the top, volume, power, wifi, the trackpad lights and numlock LEDs and fan turns on, then only the capslock light flashes. Nothing else happens. The screen remains empty and therefore does not allow me to get into the BIOS. No more noises not coming from the laptop. I am unable to do anything to change the lights on the computer. Pressing caps, numlock, winlock or the trackpad button do nothing.

I don't know what caused the problem. The computer worked well the night before and the next morning, when I tried to turn it on, it happened. I think that the symptoms I have outlined point to a hard drive problem, and my warranty has expired. So before I crack this thing open and start playing with it, someone has it any suggestions?

    Hello

As you're laptop is out of warranty, the best advice I can give would be to take it to a local computer repair shop and get an estimate (and to confirm the diagnosis) for the cost of repairs.  At cost less this way you can weigh-up this repair against the cost of a new laptop and then a decision.

    Hi @jaimet1, @Sinister , @stevestock1 , @Kscarlisle , @Abdullah_Ali ,.

Thank you all for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. I looked at your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook and starting problems.  If you have replaced the motherboard and it is always the case - it isn't the graphics as graphics are attached to the motherboard. Here is a link to computer will not start.  I start at the top and work my way down.

Mine has been corrected with the relocation of the HARD drive. Others must have fixed with just reinstalling the memory. Here is a video that shows you how do to remove and reinstall the HARD drive and memory.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

You can Reset the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. Helping others it restores the default settings.

I hope something here helps anyone of you difficulty the laptop.

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option, if you came to laptop with Windows 7, you might consider is to create your own installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version - i.e. Home Premium.) Professional etc. - initially supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • Pavilion dv6: computer HP pavilion laptop does not start and I do not see the screen because it's broken

I have the HP pavilion computer laptop windows 7 and I broke the screen about a year, I can't see the start menus. I have been using an external monitor and it has always worked well, but now I can't see how to fix my computer to boot.  I did a hard boot but nothing happened, and with a broken screen, I can't see any of my options on how to fix it.  It does not start.  Looks like it is, but because I don't see the menu F8 or Boot, I can't call themselves that the screen can be done.  Help, please.

    Hello @SPKaler,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Forums Guide first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I read your post on the issue with the laptop won't start does not and wanted to help you!  I understand that the screen is damaged and you are using the external monitor to view the screen.  However, now that the laptop does not start, you can see is more of the external screen to see what is happening.

From my understanding, you should not be able to see an image on the external monitor, until you start the operating system.  You can try to perform a system restore by using this document:

HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

You may be able to follow along, long enough until the image is displayed on the external monitor.  Otherwise, you can contact HP support by phone, for additional options.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: Wireless Device on HP Pavilion Dv6 does not!

Hello! I'll start with my mobile information system (and please excuse my spelling and language because I am very frustrated at the moment and typing this on a cell phone)

It's a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with product number - B3K21PA #ABG. Serial number is 2CE2201C96. I have a Broadcom 4313GN 1 x 1 adapter Wi - Fi 802.11b/g/n according to my device manager. I recently chanhed my ISP and the wireless router, they provided is the Linksys E1200 model.

Now, on the problem - after the use of an extended internet (Skype call or internet games) my laptop just stops giving me access to the internet. And I say it like that because the internet connection icon shows that I have access to the network and internet connection, but none of my software or browsers are able to connect to the internet. This is the first time, she does. I tried updating the driver (both by checking the driver updates and downloading the drivers manually). I also tried system restore and everything I could think off trying to do a factory reset on the whole thing. And I should mention also - although this problem has happened several times now since I changed ISP (and Yes, I called them on this subject too), this currently seems to be permanent, because it has been hours and it still does not.

Any advice on what may be the problem or that the methods to try to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. I agree to be only moderately enough when it comes to operating a computer that I am not tech savvy kind, but have been using computers for a while now. For now, my current solution is a fall from my window on the 16th floor and see if that fixes anything. I'm not in my own country and the laptop is old a few years for technical support is hard to find.

I might be sounding a little passive aggressuve and I apologize for that (I have, however, do not deny these circumstances).

Thank you for reading through my wall of text of nonsense and condescend to help a poor fellow in his time of need.

    Yours sincerely.

  • HP Pavilion a6040a will not start

    Hi guys,.

My Pavilion a6040a desktop running Vista home, does not start. All I get is a blank screen and a beep code (1 short, 1 long, pause, repeating endlessly). I can't run any recovery CD and I got up to the part where I have to take part in the troubleshooting guides (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07107). However, I do not trust myself to remove, and will send a Tech if there is anything else I can do to solve the problem.

What happened in head upward to the accident:

Was functioning normally, do not try anything too demanding (just updated the client Java but I don't think that it would be the cause?)

Had a BSOD, restarted in safe mode, can't find the cause so restarted in normal mode to connect to the net.

An another BSOD a few hours later, restarted directly in the system recovery to run a diagnostic.

During the tests, the screen locked completely, and I had to force a shutdown.

Following this accident, the computer was unable to restart (see above).

Blue screens came too fast for me to read, and the error code that came after the first BSOD has been saved on the hard disk, which I cannot now access. If there is any other information that might help, I will try and provide them, keeping in mind, I can't have the system running at all to check the news!

Any help is very appreciated. My partner has an assignment for her master's degree due to a week and really needs the computer in place and running

Even if you have the open computer take care of blowing dust around the CPU. Just look at the pictures in the link I sent. It could be that a fan does not spin also. Before you replace the cover, Plug and turn to see if fans turn.

  • Dual-Boot Pavilion dv6 does not work

    Hello

    I bought a Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7 pre-installed. Now I want to dual-boot with Linux (Fedora).

    (1) this laptop has a 500 GB hard drive. So, using diskmgmt.msc, I shrunk the size of the primary partition by about 100 GB. Now, I have that much free space.

    (2) figured out the magic handshake to get the BIOS to run (the F10 hold to power up).

    (3) connected the DVD of the Fedora Installer. He settled in saying that there is not enough space. Tried several options for installation in 'free space' and 'replace existing Linux installation. Same question. Note that I have not yet tried Ubuntu.

    (4) booted back to Windows 7, looked again diskmgmt.msc. I noticed that I have the following partitions. 'System', which is 200 MB (NTFS), player C which is now 351 GB (NTFS), D drive Recovery 13 GB (NTFS), HP tools 103 MB (FAT32). Here are the possible question, all these partitions are listed as "primary". I read somewhere that there may be only 4 primary partitions (it can be extended partitions).

    My questions are:

    (1) is the fact that all primary readers are allocated to preventing me to install a secondary operating system (in this case Linux)?

    (2) if so, what are the disadvantages of the removal of the partition of HP tools (except perhaps less boring tools automatically runs all the time - with no apparent way to stop).

    Thanks for your interest.

I've heard nothing back for 20 days, which raises the question to know if HP support people even read this, much less provide support on this forum. In any case, I managed to run dual-boot on mine. I hope this helps someone out there doing similar things. Here are the steps that I had to do (and some I do not have):

    1. Created the HP recovery discs... Well I tried to anyway. This process is configured to do one time only. Unfortunately burning failed on the first (I put by mistake a double layer DVD-R in the drive, but the drive itself is supported) and burning failed, but the process seems to still consider that he "get". Bottom line, if I ever corrupted hard drive, I'm out of luck (unless a HP support person has other suggestions).
    2. Bought a 1 TB external drive which has an ESATA interface with intention to save the different partitions of Windows.
    3. I bought Nero 9, which is supposed to make backups. However, he seems to have a bug where it said that I could not make a backup disk of an account that does not have administrator rights. The account I was using has Admin rights, so I guess that the program cannot handle permissions Windows 7 style yet.
    4. Defragmented the big drive (351 GB) C.
    5. Using diskmgmt.msc, used the "shrink" option to reduce its size to 351 GB GB 251, who did not assigned 100 GB on the disk.
    6. Using diskmgmt.msc, assigned a drive letter to the partition of HP tools (see the list of partitions in the previous post).
    7. Using Windows Explorer, tools HP Score Watch now upward because he received a drive letter (it was not visible before). I copied the contents of HP tools in a folder on the C drive, just in case I needed to get it back. It's only a few MBs.
    8. Once again using diskmgmt.msc, deleted the partition of HP tools. This frees up a single primary partition on the disk.
    9. Rebooted the laptop from the Fedora 12 installation disc. Now grub / gparted is happy because he is free to use partition.
    10. Chose to install grub on the MBR, definition of Win 7 as the default bootloader on the player option.
    11. Completed the full installation of Fedora.
