Pavilion dv6b: Wifi adapter

Hello great minds of HP!

Ask a question before you go spending money, so I hope someone here can help me.

Planning on upgrading my Centrino wireless-n wifi adapter to an adapter 802.11ac 6150 dual band.

What I want to know, is my adapter on a whitelist? I.e. the upgrade is not an option due to the "standards of the FCC.

If in the white list, is it possible to receive a bios that does not have the current whitelist? I really want to take advantage of the 5 GHz signal, as well as bluetooth connectivity.

We need the exact model number to be sure, but for sure dv6s up to the-6000 series and-7000 series probably has the whitelist. I'm not approve this, but some models have a hacked BIOS that has been reported to work with no whitelist. Still, any use of the hacked BIOS is at your extreme risk.

I tried seriously to all solutions possible and still nothing.  Not only the solution that has been proposed to this topic on the forum like many others in other Web sites, as in the windows and mediatek/ralink and same forum forum on youtube and still nothing, I can't really solve this problem and I'm trying to ruin out of range of patience...

I'll probably go back to 8.1 Windows because all solutions have failed...

If someone knows a solution diferent/news please reply!

My PC is a HP Pavilion G6

My Wi - Fi adapter is a Ralink RT3290 802, and pilots are already updated.

    Kind regards.

    Hello:

Since I know not what you have tried, or one of the hundreds of books of g6 model you have (if they extend over several years), the only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W10 Ralink WLAN driver.

    OPERATING SYSTEM (S):
    Microsoft Windows 10 32
    Microsoft Windows 10 64

    LANGUAGE (S): Global

    SUPPORTED DEVICES:
802.11n wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter
    MediaTek MT7630E 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter
    RALink RT3090 WiFi 802.11b/g/n adapt
    Wi - Fi 802.11b/g/n Ralink RT3290 adapter
    WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n Ralink RT3592 adapter
    RALink WiFi 802.11b/g/n RT5390 adapt
    RALink WiFi 802.11b/g/n RT5390R adapt

    CORRECTIONS:
-Provides the initial version of Windows 10 support WHQL driver.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp71501-72000/sp71571.exe

If the driver above does not work, the most likely problem is the hardware revision RT3090 of the card you have is probably too old to run W10.

Only the last model rt3090 made in the last two years will take place W10.

    Hey @dct1954 ,

I called support and they confirm that even if it shows that it will be compatible, there will be a problem. They recommend using a USB dongle to give you the 5 GHz, you need.

  • Update for hp pavilion g6-1d73us WiFi adapter

I have a HP Pavilion g6-1d73us running Windows 7 Home Premium with Intel Core i3 2.30 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 64-bit OS and want to upgrade my wireless WiFi 802.11ac 802.11n wifi adapter so I can also change my modem & router to the new, faster standard. The current wifi adapter I have is Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapt. I studied the material on the internet and I think I want an Intel Wireless AC 7260 wifi adapter, but I don't know if it is compatible with my laptop. Could you please tell me what 802.11ac wireless card or adapter is compatible with my laptop or if I'm even able to upgrade that component. My computer works fine and has no problem. Thank you.

Sorry no. The computer HP laptop motherboard has a BIOS program that is configured to stop the boot process, if all the wireless but very specific cards is installed. In the case of your laptop, no adapter 802.11ac lies on the 'white list' to boot.

  • HP Pavilion 15-n213TX: the upgrade of my WiFi adapter to acre.

    Hey there,

I am interested upgrading my computer WiFi card laptop 15-n213TX HP Pavilion (Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn) to a Wireless AC in order to enjoy a faster internet.
I have a few questions on a Amazon ad for one and was basically told to check on HP forum to ensure that it works very well in my laptop (some blocked or something?).
    Would this plug for me?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Intel-7260-HMWG-wireless-AC-7260-Bluetooth/DP/B00DMCVKMU

If not what are the options I have / can someone point me in the direction of one who will?

    Thanks in advance

HP abandons the 'white list' that you kept to settle any wifi adapter you want to back a bit: well before your model which is fairly new.  See p. 44 of the manual here:

    Manual

You have an Intel processor and the wifi module that you logged on amazon.com works perfectly once you load the correct driver.

  • Pavilion DV7-3165DX, Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter, communication and incompatibility issues

After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. Rushing home after class, I plugged the new Linksys WRT160N, I had also bought wireless router and configured on my desk. Once completed, I tried to connect using the new Pavilion. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

This certainly isn't the experience I had hoped with my first purchase of HP.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

  • Pavilion 17-e101sv: replacement of HP Pavilion 17-e101sv WiFi adapter

    Hello

I recently had problems with the wifi adapter that comes with my laptop model (Ralink RT3290LE) and found out that it is a problem if your modem/router is a Cisco which is what my ISP provides. In the end, I bought my own router and was able to connect to the internet.

I want o avoid such problems in the future and I would like to know what kind of replacement I can get to my lapto compatible and also if there is a compatible wifi adapter that also has the AC network with b/g/n.

    Thank you in advance!

    This will work:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Intel-wireless-AC-7260-Bluetooth-wireless/DP/B00PDL540W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&QID=1442863054&SR=8-2&keywords=802.11AC+Mini+PCI-e+WiFi

He says is not compatible with the HP, but that applies to the slightly older models who had still a wifi whitelist your BIOS does not work. We had a few experiences here in the Forum and showed that the white list has disappeared since before that your laptop has been made.

That said, you can do the upgrade, you can see how to do it. See page 52 of the manual here:

  • connection Ralink wifi adapter problem, how to fix on a HP Pavilion g seris

My Hp laptop does not connect to internet, it has the following wifi adapter. How can I solve this problem. RalinkRT5390 802. 11 b/g/n

    Hello:

Are the rest of your PC / devices connected to the internet?

If Yes, try to install the latest driver and see if that helps.

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3688868&swItem=VC-91565-1&mode=4&IDX=2

If you have no other wireless devices to test, restart your modem and router, and you must do it in a certain way.

    1. close all PC.

    2. turn off the modem and the router.

    3. turn on the modem only.  Wait about 2 minutes.

    4. turn on the router. Wait about 2 minutes.

If you have a modem/router combo, then you need not step 4.

    5. start the PC and see if you can connect.

  • Qualcomm, atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter problem

Hi, if I can connect to the internet, but after a bit, I'm disconnected from the network. When I have the Troubleshoot, it indicates that there is a problem with my card. It is not a problem with my network as all other devices work correctly.

I use Windows 8; my laptop is a Pavilion dv6 - 3284ca; my wifi adapter is qualcomm, atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n wifi adapt

Let me know if you need more information.

You can try a USB wireless adapter. If it works, which will restrict the cause root. If it doesn't, it will restrict the issue to a conclusion. There is not a lot of troubleshooting on the left that you don't want to, so I think that an adapter is a good idea.

You can use another computer and download it, or you can order the CD from recovery here: http://goo.gl/jTht6 in the section "Support of restoration of order." This will give you all the drivers and the original OS.
