Pavilion DV7 6154ea: dead Touchpad

Hello

The touchpad stopped working after upgrade the drivers updated in preparation to win 10. I typed double logo On / Off in the corner of the touchpad, but light on the edges of the Touchpad is on permanently and there is no answer.

I have re installed the right driver Synaptics worm 15.3.11 HP, uninstalled and then rebooted and re-installed, and also tried hard resets (battery, power turned off, hold the button down for at least one minute).

Nothing seems to restore the Touchpad. The driver is installed without a doubt, but the keyboard does not appear in the devices or the mouse Manager tab in the control panel.

I think that the updates included an update of the BIOS - this could be the problem? Running BIOS Ver F1. B, Oct 2011. All attempts in the BIOS UEFI to find out what the previous version was the result of the error message 'Failed reading BIOS image file' - even after I have re-installed the BIOS to see if it will avoid the error.

The BIOS updates have been conducted using the HP Wizard and seems to work fine, without any difficulty.

Grateful for all the suggestions!

SOLVED!

Under the hard drive is a small black multi connector with a small arrangement of swivel bar.

This bar has increased, and when I pushed down the touchpad started working. The bar must be a kind of connector locking/unlocking and had somehow moved to the release position.

So, just a simple hardware problem, nothing to do with the driver and BIOS upgrades.

Hello. Just got my new pavilion laptop today and I love it! There is one thing to the point where I wonder about.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 6154ea: HP pavilion DV7 6154ea connection keeps losing signal

Experiencing Wifi connection problems where the signal falls systematically after maybe 10 to 15 minutes of use. Is underway for the past 2 months or so. Guess it was my network, but after going through the configuration of the router, check connection on other laptops HP at home that work perfectly I guess something must be set right.

Has been informed by a member of support Paul who was very helpful to help restore me the laptop to windows 8 to 7.

Having recently upgraded to the SSD, perform a new installation of the OS a few days where drivers when installed through the ordered recovery disks, HP support, you are prompted to any update more or less all the drivers using the new assistant support, I would add much like ago.

In any case on the device noticed Control Manager are now 4 cards under network adapters:

    -Intel(r) centrion (R) Wireless-N-1030

-Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port adapater

-Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port adapater #2

    -Realtek PCIe GBE family controller.

#2 of the one is double and maybe causing the problem.

As far as I know I thought that this model only required of these network drivers:

-Intel Wireless driver for microsoft Windows 7

    -realtek LAN Driver

    -intel Pro set bluetooth driver

Would be great for someone could confirm. Don't know how to move forward with this? Download the necessary drivers while that uninstall the old drivers? If so which ones should be deleted, guessing each of them?

Mean time tried to hell be able to save, not much success. To be honest after noticing these adapters, it immediately at odds with what I knew and was informed months ago I wanted so just clear it first with you guys.

    Hello:

I just checked my laptop which also has an Intel wireless card and it has the same features listed.

Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port card

Map Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port #2

So I would say to both of them, because my laptop has no problems with the connection and maintaining a connection to the internet.

Have you tried the latest driver for this model directly from Intel wireless card?

It would be the only suggestion I can offer you.

You want the second pilot on the list for W7 x 64.

  • HP Pavilion Dv7 6154ea: 6154ea HP Pavillion Dv7 SSD install

    Hello

Adding an 840 Samsung 120 GB SSD evo after experiencing blue screen errors quite frequently on the current 500 gb HDD Momentus. Instead of going down the road HDD has decided to invest in a SSD having recently started working with design, software development. Have a black WD 500 GB internal, which is used for external ups back who will now be a secondary internal drive.

Errors, crashes seem to be a common problem with me losing valuable data several times in the past, so don't can afford many more mistakes if you are looking for the most reliable, safe, an effective way to go whether...

At the recovery of windows 7 CD bought a year ago, to restore from windows 8, computer laptop second hand purchase. Make a copy of windows 8 at the time.

s summer absorbing much info as possible.

Decided to clone the HDD to the SDS that seems very simple. I hope to have enough time to clone it sounds really as if it was his breath... strange distorted sounds.

In any case have a special software which I can't find the cd for cloning would save me many things allowing me to go to my work. This will be possible with cloning, or is their something else I am missing to get a program to work.

Have saved most of the files on the external HARD drive that I intend to use later as the secondary. So simply will delete them from the HARD disk as well as the programs files not wanted on the SSD as the 120 GB is not much room I guess.

Will use free software provided free of charge by samsung that seems to be good for the job.

I know the answers are already mentioned here, but if someone could let me know if their anything I'm missing or could be used to improve things, the longevity of the SSD.

    The plan is:

-Insert the SSD for laptop via sata to usb cable

-With the Samsungs software clone disk to SDS

    -Set AHCI in the bios

    -restart the laptop

    -enter in bios

-Select the boot order to SSD first.

    -AHCI box

    -Save and enjoy

-If everything stops correctly, power on, insert hard disk backup into the secondary Bay and it's all good

    sounds good?

Been reading a lot about files which are re-written or modified attribute as a page file of OS which does not have to be registered on the SSD. In any case their links I have for what seem to be simple. Directory for saving files using programs will be on the HARD drive. Can still move after anyway

Nothing else to ensure the sailing smooth completely?

    Hello

It's great that you decided to do a new installation instead of cloning. Cloning of a HDD failure can cause a lot of problems in the long term.

When you install Windows be sure to disconnect your old drive HARD and WD Black drive PC's HARD otherwise, Windows install will place the system partition booked on one of the hard drives.
The drivers, you can just put on a USB stick and install from the USB after Windows is installed. Good luck.

  • Pavilion dv7 programs closing and opening at random, computer stops randomly

I have a Pavilion dv7-6154ea running on Windows 7. I've had it for a year and a half now and I just encountered this problem (it started a few days ago).

The problem is that some programs or files are opening and closing by themselves, randomly without doing me anything. Sometimes even whole computer stops himself. And it's not as if it crashes, it just closes programs in the usual way or stops normally (without any problem).

I scanned the entire computer for viruses and it is clean. If the problem seems not be caused by a virus.

One thing that I was doing at the same time when this problem occurred is switchable graphics mode in the BIOS change, dynamics on fixed, by following the steps in this link to The switchable Graphics Mode

I have a built-in Intel GPU (that to speed up performance) and an AMD Radeon HD 6490 M GPU (that of better graphics) and I wanted to run the PC on the AMD because I think that the dynamic mode has not changed the GPU when I needded, for example for video games.

However, after a day of opening/closing by themselves programs, I decided to return to dynamic mode, and nothing has changed, so maybe it's also not the cause of the problem.

In any case, it seems too convenient that the problem happened right after I introduced the Switchable graphics in the BIOS mode, if I don't think it's a coincidence.

Can someone help me? It becomes very awkward to have a program that I use at the moment of the computer closa.

    Thank you

    sthri,

It doesn't sound like it's a virus, but it could also be the keyboard.

    Go to start

    Type ease.

    Press enter

Go to the bottom and click, facilitate the use of the keyboard.

Check all the boxes and click OK.

The keyboard will not work, but move and open programs as you normally use the computer and see if you get any errors.

It is a shot in the water.

By clicking on the White Star congratulations on the left is a way of saying thanks!

  • HP Pavillion DV7 6154ea Questions on windows 8, driver etc.

Recently bought a laptop HP Pavilion DV7 6154ea.

paid allocate money for her that she was second hand it and without warranty.  After receiving it now looks that the choice was made, great laptop. Just having a few problems with the understanding of the functioning of windows 8.

the laptop on the back label indicates a key of windows 7, meaning that it was sold to the original owner with windows 7.

The laptop was sold to me with the installation of Windows 8 Pre.

The seller just re installed windows 8, wipe the hard drive before.

My problem is that I do not know if I have to download any dirvers for windows 8? asked the seller who has no idea about the drivers. I guess they were already installed by front cd.

Secondly, there is no drivers windows 8 available for this model? is that going to be a problem?

need to know your thoughts as soon as possible, as I might be able to return the item for a refund if I act fast enough!

try to put in place the laptop properly before putting it to use.

I also would like to access the BIOS under windows 8 to change the graphics card options that the laptop comes with the 2 graphics card. I read that if it's done auto instead of permenantly on less heat is produced. However, these instructions are for users of windows 7.

need help, advice on the use of this laptop. Really don't want to damage anything so scared to touch even if it starts perfectly. uncertain about the drivers, the correct graphics settings on windows 8, its my first time using windows 8.

    Thanks for your time

    You are the very welcome.

    Exit the BIOS settings only.

When you run Windows update utility under optional updates, you can see what presents itself.

If you see an Intel HD graphics driver update, right-click on it and select hide.

I doubt that you will ever see a graphics amd update driver, but if you do, you can do the same for that too.

The optional updates will never install unless you check them and add to the list of installation.

Concerning the drivers, you need only to install the drivers for all devices listed in the device with the little Manager! brands next to them (in the category other devices).

If the graphics drivers are not installed, you will see two adapters vga standard listed under the category of display cards or you will see them with! also marks next to them.

If you have an English version of W7 and can read all 25 characters of the product key of W7 on the bottom of your PC, you can make your own plain W7 installation media and use the product key to activate it if you don't want to buy a recovery disc for your model.

Here is the link to the W7 x 64 Home Premium SP1 ISO file.

Make sure you get all the 3. XX GB of the file to download.  Sometimes he says full download, but you do not have the entire file to download.

Either use the ISO file, burn option in your burning software DVD to burn the ISO to a DVD file, then the ISO file, burn option will also make the bootable DVD.

Or you can use the Microsoft tool on the link below to transfer the ISO to a flash USB 4 GB or DVD drive.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4190us: touchpad buttons do not work

Last week, I received two HP Pavilion dv7-4190us laptops from Amazon. Both had the same problem: the buttons on the touchpad do not work. If you hit one of them, the result is the same if you hit the main part of the pad. Affecting the buttons in a particular function does not work. I checked in the Information System, which showed the touchpad as having 0 buttons. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with HP support, but they were unable to resolve the problem. I sent two computers laptops back to Amazon, ask for a refund. It's a shame that these otherwise great computers are rendered by this problem, making them unacceptable for me.

It turns out that the buttons on the touch pad work. The result of this 'problem' is my confusion over the operation of these buttons. On this touchpad (which is not like the others, I've used so far), the buttons are flush with the surface of the touch pad, and they do not respond to touch, but only in the same way as a button on the main part of the pad. The fact to the specific button functions, to firmly press a button. I found this by reading the answer to another user who has reported the same issue. I hope this can help to avoid confusion of someone else in the future.

  • Touchpad problems with Windows Vista, HP Pavilion dv7

For some time now, I had problems using the touchpad on my HP Pavilion dv7-1260 mobile.  When I press the left button of the mouse, I have the menu that is displayed when you press the right button of the mouse.  I changed the settings on a million times and I reinstalled the drivers, but nothing seems to work.  Maybe I need to change touchpad sensitivy or something, but I don't know how to do it on Windows Vista.

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
    on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad from working.

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

  • When I tap on the touchpad on my HP Pavilion dv7 cursor sometimes also jumps on the screen

When I tap on the touchpad on my HP Pavilion dv7 cursor sometimes jumps somewhere else on the screen. I sent 2 times to HP and it has been returned without problem found. They advised me to set the pointer at half speed, but it still happens. I found on the HP web site, a newsletter which confirms that they seem to have a problem: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01471084&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=hr&cc=hr&lang=hr&product=4075797#.

It is apparently related to the thread "Windows UPDATE Caused typing problems (Jumping cursor... )" It only happens when I type' and 'double tap', not when I type. So who is to blame?

To disable the option of tapping helps but it is only circumvented the problem.

And HP article points to its own software system BIOS or touchpad as the culprit, not the operating system.  I've seen a number of updates offered on Windows Update that can potentially manure with a touchpad settings; Quick Launch buttons specific to the virtual devices/interfaces/drivers ACPI BIOS that control things like the programmable buttons or special function keys and updated for HP, TouchPad software and driver updates.

Non-Microsoft software and published on Windows Update for driver updates are put there by the respective hardware or software developers, not by Microsoft.  Many users just automatically install what are updates are available without looking too close description of the update and do not realize that they just installed an update to a third-party product as opposed to an update of the operating system.  Some users don't even know the difference.

I would check the forums to support consumer of HP for a potential solution.  Several times, HP will have a new driver or software provision, but he gets only appearing on the support pages and download for currently marketed models, not on discontinued models.

  • Touchpad on HP Pavilion DV7 problem

Hello.  I have the HP Pavilion DV7 6B57NR. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently, I sent my laptop for repair, and when I got it, HP told me they have reinstalled original software to the machine (reinstalled Windows 7). Before I sent the laptop, the movie 3 finger worked. Now, I notice that I can not use option 3 fingers flick. I checked the Synaptics TouchPad settings, and is selected but his does not work. I tried to download the driver through the Software & Driver Downloads HP Site and it won't let me download it. When I click on "Download", it says:

Sorry, we can't find that page. The page you are looking for is no longer available or has been moved.

I would like to fix this because I love the film 3 fingers and I use it a lot. Thank you

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download the Setup program of the Synaptics driver from the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56909.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once done, restart the laptop.

  • Pavilion dv7-4285dx: cannot BOOT/POST/VGA external and internal LCD is dead (cracked)

I cracked the screen of my HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx so bad that I can't read anything on the subject. I'm trying to start to an external monitor to the VGA port, but never to get a signal.

I tried the key switch monitor, but that does nothing. I tried to unplug the LCD internal of the motherboard - not different. I tried a CMOS reset by removing the laptop battery, remove the CMOS battery, cut the power and hold the power button / stop for > 1 minute, then by restarting with external LCD just attached, but STILL no video on the VGA port.

The video card is OK, because it starts with Windows and then I have the video on the external monitor.

Although it is good that I can use the monitor to post once Windows starts, I need to have the video when the BIOS starts to change.

Does anyone have another suggestion how I can get the BIOS to detect and display external VGA at boot time?
