Pavilion Elite m9428f PC Wireless Connection

I have a Pavilion Elite m9428f desktop PC.  It is connected by cable/wire to a router that is connected to a modem to cable box.  I bought a HP all-in-one computer and want to move my desktop computer in another room in my house, but to be able to continue to access the internet.  My desktop computer can be connected wireless to my router (Linksys), which is compatible with the wireless?  If so can you recommend where I can find instructions on how to set up.

In addition, I read that my office has an antenna wireless inside the tower.  In addition, the original hard disk supplied with the computer crashed a year ago.  I have more files/programs of HP who were on the hard drive.

Any information is appreciated. My knowledge in this process is limited, so if there is a way to do this in an explanation "for Dummies", it would be useful.

Thank you for your time,

Tom

Hi, Tom:

According to the specifications of product for your PC, it should be ready completely wireless.

Look in the Device Manager. You should see 2 NICs listed. One wired and one wireless.

It is of a Pavilion DV7-6195us. It connects wireless to a provided Comcast router/gateway. My connection drops randomly, and my solution was to click on the bottom wireless icon to the right of the taskbar, disconnect my network, wait 5 seconds and reconnect. It is successful in 90% of cases.

I looked in Device Manager > network adapters and see: Intel Centrino Wireless n 1000 #2, Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2, Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapt #3 and Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

This laptop was bought second-hand from a guy who did the free update for Windows 10 without doing all the preparation work. I restarted it in Win 7, 64 bit. The laptop is starting in 2012 and I did the best I could to update the latest drivers, but trying to install the latest WiFi driver gave me the message that says that the driver installed is newer than the one I tried to install. The current version of the driver is 15.11.0.7 as of 1/26/2014(Intel Centrino). I don't know why it is a #2, and I do not know whence the Microsoft Virtual Miniport #2 and #3. Their versions of the drivers are identical and are dated from 2006.

I wonder if they interfere with the Intel N 1000? Should I uninstall them? Is there a driver later for the Centrino N 1000 found somewhere other than to HP support site?

My goal here is to stabilize my connection to my wireless router.

My wife's cell phone is a Dell Inspiron which is located not far from where my laptop is, about the same distance from the router, and she has no problem connecting.

  • How to access the BIOS on a Pavilion Elite e9237c with mouse and keyboard wireless?

I have a desktop computer Pavilion Elite e9237 with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I tried to access the BIOS by pressing F10 at startup with no luck, and I can't access any of the other menus for the start-up eiither. I don't have a PS/2 port on my computer, so I can't get a wired keyboard and mouse. Does anyone know how to access the BIOS with this configuration?

I bought a USB keyboard and he answered in the same way... No bios access. I then studied why it did not work and discovered that it was the way in which he has been connected to the computer. I had initially plugged into a USB hub when he was not working and I moved it directly into a USB port and it works! I plugged my keyboard wireless directly into the USB port and it works too! Thanks for your help... I wouldn't have thought of it if it wasn't for to recommend you the USB keyboard.

  • No connection Ethernet - Pavilion Elite M9280F

    Hello

I got a new Pavilion Elite M9280F (KJ380AAR), but I can't any signal Ethernet no matter, I've tried since I bought it.
I have Verizon DSL. I connected the new PC with Ethernet cable to the modem (Verizon Weastell 6100) directly with any other router.

I called HP and Verizon supports several times, once again the test runned much and yet once again, uninstall/reinstall, system recovery, power cables, switch etc... After hours, they told me that the NIC in the PC does not work. And I had already sent my PC to the HP service center to be fixed to 3 times (same question, without result).

Well, frankly, HP could not find something wrong on it. I even had someone repair center called me and he said that they tested the PC for 2 hours, that everything is fine and also could run DSL via Ethernet in their very good network cable.

Westall 6100 (modem/router) works flawlessly. I tried to reset it.
Driver/network adapter shows fine in Device Manager.
I tried different cables (cat5) Ethernet.

    I don't have a wireless setup.

Ethernet port LED is not lit.
    ipconfig/all shows "Media disconnected."

In the meantime, I always can get online using my old PC WinXP without any problem (same configuration with ethernet cable, plug-and-play).

It's really frustrating, any help would be much appreciated.

I don't think you are going to use the dial-up modem. Just pull out and use this location. Your just try anyway. There is no use keeping the card if it doesn't. You can return it.

I'm just a person like you and offering my time and advice. If you need help from HP, you will need to contact them.

    Hello @adityarai82,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! The forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I read your post about the WiFi problem and wanted to help you!  I understand that you have tried the troubleshooting steps a lot already, without success.

Try to review these steps, offered by community member @Great-Christine-Tree:

First of all, we have a step by step guide to guide you through the process of diagnosis here:
Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access

A second option is to try the following steps:
    Powercycle the network:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Turn off the power to the adapter:
    1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
    2. expand the network adapters.
    3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down list in the upper right of the document.

  • HP wireless keyboard from 2.4 GHz on the HP Pavilion Elite 083 Volume controls does not not in Windows 8

I have a HP 2.4 GHz wireless keyboard on a desktop HP Pavilion Elite 083 UK:

    Model KG-08510 rev 1.1

    Product #ABU KZ256AA number

    Part number 505143-031

.. Since the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Home Premium, I have problems with getting control of Volume +, - and disable keys on the keyboard to work reliably in Windows 8 Pro.

In summary, the symptom is that when I start the PC from a start-up to cold which is a full power down of the State of the volume on the keyboard controls do not work.

However, if I unplug and re - plug the USB wireless receiver that came the keyboard on the PC then on the keyboard volume controls begin to work again.

I tried the following things to try to solve this problem:

-Made a lot of new installation of Windows 8 i.e. reformatting the hard drive (no recovery) and fresh install Windows 8 on a blank hard drive.

-Installation of Microsoft Windows all the updates available for the machine.

-Manually install drivers wireless keyboard on the site of HP driver for my computer HP Pavilion Elite 083uk (this allows the screen display on to CapsLock and numlock which works reliably every time that I start).

-Disable 'fast start up' in Windows 8 power settings

-Using different USB ports on the back of the machine

This question is re-producable each time and the keyboard volume buttons work fine even from boot cold when I was running Windows 7.

I think that I have now found a solution / workaround to solve this case no matter who is interested.

    1. download and install the Microsoft "DevCon" tool that provides an interface to command line for Device Manager.

Download and installation instructions are here:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/182.how-to-obtain-the-current-version-of-device-console-utility-DevCon-exe.aspx

    2. create a Windows scheduled task with "highest privileges" that works on logon that issues the following command:

    DevCon restart 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

This restarts "HID-compliant consumer control device" that is listed in my device manager which is middle for the proper functioning of the volume control and mute buttons on the keyboard (keyboard functionality is via a separate driver which is not affected).

NB. you need to replace ""HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02"with whatever hardware ID is listed in the device for that Manager.»

    3. If the above does not work, then you must create a scheduled task to run a batch file with the following:

    DevCon disable 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

    DevCon enable 'HID\VID_03F0 & PID_0862 & REV_0105 & MI_01 & Col02'

Given that I update to windows 10 my wireless connection is slower.

    Hi @miguelsoare,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook g6 and issues with slow wireless speeds. Here is a link for troubleshooting wireless connection, if you need.

If the problem persists, I would change the channel on the router. Routers are able to communicate to your laptop on several different channels. Sometimes, this fixes the speeds.

Some say that it helps to fix this Microsoft Fix it.

Here is a link to help as well.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

    Tomahawk, welcome to the forum.

This is the page for Specifications of the motherboard of the computer.  You should be able to enlarge the diagram of the motherboard to locate most of the connections.  The only place you may have a problem is with the power button connector.  Some cases are not compatible with HP moterboards.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or not.

  • Problem with laptop Pavilion dv6 wireless connection

I have a problem with a computer laptop dv6-6b50ea Pavilion of customers. He has win7 64 bit installed and an Intel Centrino WirelessN1030 with blutooth wireless card.

The user has used the laptop abroad with a 3G usb dongle with T-Mobile, but now wants to connect to his home wireless router.

Initially only the two switched 3g options are visible in the network for the connection options. Therefore, I uninstalled all T-Mobile software for control of the key usb 3g and removed the dial two profiles, but the laptop wouldn't see any wireless connection.

The orange light was on the f12 key and I couldn't get the wireless to work. Finally I found that even if it has been enabled in the HP connection manager, it has been disabled by Windows Mobility Center. I finally got the light turns white but still saw wireless networks while two other laptops could see the router in the same place.

I took the computer laptop and tried it on my own wireless network, and although he saw them he said that they were very poor and wouldn't connect. I tried all the normal things like turning off the antivirus and windows firewall. I've updated the software of the driver from the HP website, but it still wouldn't connect.

Finally, in desperation I disabled two virtual connections created by the driver. Finally he saw all my access points Wi - Fi including some a long way outside. I have is that it connects and thought that I had a crush, but restarting it would link is no longer. Since I brought the oldes driver I can find on the Intel site, updated twice by HP Support Assistant, who has updated the bios and installed the latest drivers intel, but it now not see any wireless network, or if it does sporadically and does not connect. Ethernet connection works fine.

I've seen lots of messages on mobile phones of series dv6000 with Wi - Fi and an overheating issues etc. What is the same thing with the dv6 6b50ea?

    Any suggestion would be appreciated

I had a very similar problem with Tablet Dell Latitude slate ST of my son.

He has the card brand Dell Atheros wireless bluetooth/wireless combo. He had connection problems in W7, but I was finally able to make it work most of the time.

I saw on the Dell forums, a lot of people complain about this card.

I installed W8 on the Tablet and there is no pilot, so I resorted to an old driver w7 and I can't get the map to work most of the time.

So, I ordered an Intel 6230 without wireless/bluetooth combo card for it and I'll see if it makes a difference.  Intel has W8 drivers for the card.

I did the same thing you did... inserted a map of the network, D - Link DWA-125 USB into the USB port.  W8 recognized, installed the drivers and it connects without any problems at all.

The difference between my situation and your is however that the 1030 Intel has no problems experienced with W7 link I know, that's why I suggested a factory reset to see if you can start from scratch and exclude a hardware malfunction.

If the card still does not work, then of course we should be replaced by a card support listed in the service manual.  Unlike Dell, with all computers laptops HP, you can install one of the maps in the service manual and they must have the part number HP on them or they do not work.

    Kind regards

  • Office Pavilion Elite e9220y: name of the Internet access when you hover over said tskbr network 5. is that HP name or co cable. ?

    Hello

I have a desktop Pavilion Elite e9220y Home Premium; Win 7; 64-bit computer.

I'm wired; but have wireless for other things (Kindle, etc..)

When I open internet access in the bar of tasks and under the "wireless network connection", I see MY connection (and the name I gave my connection) and 5 solid green bars (no problem).

Above this section, there is an article with a picture of a House (provided by HP, I'm sure), and he says:

    ' Currently logged on:

and just below it says: (to the right of the photo of the House) network 5

and just below it says: internet access

That's all it lists the wireless network connection with my name and the names of other connections in the district.

    My question:

    the name "network 5"?

HP says it is my cable provider; my cable provider says it's at HP.

    This can be changed?

    Thank you!

    Hello Denise,.

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I understand that you have a problem with wireless networks.

Windows will think it's in a new network whenever it detects a new router. If you have changed your router or the router configuration. Windows creates a new network. But do not worry.

If you don't want the name of the connection to be listed under active connection, follow the steps.

    (1) open the "Control Panel".

    (2) select and open "network and sharing Center."

    (3) click on the ' icon "(une icône de la maison pour moi) less 'show your active networks'.". " This will open the dialogue "set network properties." Here, you can rename a network connection or a change as the network connection icon.

    4) click on "Merge or delete network locations" to view the list of network connections that are stored. You can merge or remove connections

Let me know if it helps.

    Have a great day!

  • Pavilion elite m9255uk: damaged wiring antenna Office

Main problem is that the PC won't start, thinking that perhaps it would be mobo.  Yes I know it's old but it's my favorite. Thus, three questions

    1ST QUARTER

The PC Pavilion Elite has a built-in wireless antenna for the management of wireless LAN 802.11 b/g. I just ran my fingers on the thread that connects the card/adapter inside the 'roof' and the coating of the wire is cracked near the 'roof' of the pc.  He has obviously been pinched or rubs against something, could that have damaged the mobo if the stripped part had made contact with the case?  If this isn't the case, it would be prudent to cover the part damaged this wiring with insulation tape?

    Q2

Otherwise, could remove the card/adapter and wiring and do not use wireless, what would be the consequences of this?

    Q3

After that the cracked wire issue is sorted, I'll have to do some work of elimination on the problem of no initialization.  What are the sons of "skeleton" that should be left connected to the mobo to start upward? (please let me know if you want this bit of my questions posted elsewhere and I'll re)

With this damaged wiring, I doubt it will be problem except playing havoc with wireless reception.  Stick the broken insulation should be fine, as long as the wire is OK.
