Pavilion g7-1368dx upgrade to A8 - 3500M, does not start

My Pavilion g7-1368dx came with a processor A6 - 3420M.  I have the BIOS f.52 (works very well for months).  I tried to upgrade the processor to an A8 - 3500M (same 35W TDP, socket FS1, and turbo 1.5GHz/2.4GHz) for a boost of graphics (400 vs 320 shader cores).  It is listed in the service manual.

With the A8 - 3500M installed, the laptop does not start.  The screen remains off while the Num and caps lock flashing at regular intervals indefinitely.  There are _no_ beeps, as if an error code has been given.  The fan works.  There is no disk activity.  I repeated attempts with other components disconnected one at a time to eliminate other possible sources of the problem, until it was just the processor on the card (without RAM, HD, DVD, wireless card).  I got the same results.

Then I reinstalled the A6 - 3420M.  Without the other components, the system flashes both the NumLock and caps lock shift and beeps for appropriate error codes.  Other components reinstalled, it works fine.

Is there something special I need to do to get this to work with my laptop processor?  For the moment, I think that the new processor is bad.  But I want to check something to try before I return it.

Thanks for any help.

The service manual for the G7 laptop series and is not exclusive to the g7-1368dx model. Different models within the family of the G7 uses different hardware and supports different hardware upgrade paths. This means that an element in the maintenance manual is not necessarily supported for each model of the family of the G7.

Is the product number of the laptop A7A46UA?

If so, the motherboard with this unit provided is 649948-001 such listed in the service guide. All the parts for this unit are here.

I searched the part number 669690-001, the A8, a HP PartSurfer processor and expanded the note at the bottom of the result page to see what units came with this processors. I looked at three different models, and each of them had the motherboard 649950-001.

Documentation that came with the A8 Processor units had a motherboard different than what the units supplied with the processor A6.

Due to the A8 units having a different motherboard as the units of the A6, I suspect that the motherboard has your device does not actually support the A8 processor. I'm sorry.

  • Failed Windows 7 upgrade - now my computer does not start - what do I do?

I tried to upgrade to Windows Vista 64 for Windows 7 64.  During installation to 75% of the last step, the computer "hung up" for hours.  I abandoned the installation to fail.  Have no idea why it does not have since I ran the compatibility test, deleted all the programs of conficting, anti-virus, etc.

Now, I can't get the computer to boot.  I tried to go the last good start with Vista 64 and the operation failed.  I also tried a variety of corrections that are posted on several forums.  All I can get is a continuous loop of the attempts to start (for example. Windows - Vista - HP diagnoistics of screen - screen black screen prompts - and then he repeats)

Without success, I tried to do a system restore - which also failed.  Any suggestions on how I can recover the system and try the upgrade again?

  • After completing the upgrade Windows 7 laptop does not start

A ran the Windows 7 upgrade on a new laptop Sony Vaio with Windows Vista. After installation is complete laptop ran fine for 2 days.

Necessary to restart after trying to connect a new printer. Stop the laptop normally, but after a reboot would only boot to Windows Boot Manager.

The problem is that the upgrade of Windows CD I have is not start even if the DVD has been the first priority in the boot sequence.

If you are somehow able to boot from the installation DVD:

    1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart your computer
    2 boot from the DVD.
    3. choose your language and click Next.
    4. click on command prompt and try the following commands (they may or may not work):

    Bootrec /fixMBR
    Bootrec /fixBoot
    Bootrec /rebuildBCD
    Bootrec /scanOS

  • Pavilion Slimline s5510f: Desktop turns on but does not start

No problem whatsoever with the computer.  On the indicated start screen Windows updates have been installed.   I noticed that the update "failed" and was "back" to forecast position or something to that effect.

This has happened about 4 days after I tried to leave the HP screen download updates from HP.  The download takes forever and I finished downloading.  Don't know if this has nothing to do with the question or not.

Used the computer all day and then stop it.  Next day morning hitting the power button, fans have started, a yellow light flickered once and nothing happenn-no beeps.  The screen was black and then a box of monitor State said he was not getting a signal and entered into mode 'sleep'.  Key Board not light.

I closed the computer and tried a reboot.  Same thing happened.

I looked at a few HP documentation and videos about the lack of seed.  I did find a simular situation to mine because most people get a cursor on a black screen or an error message.  All my computer is turn on, a flicker of yellow light, fans running and there it is.

I tried to access the BIOS by turning on the computer and press F10, then F1 but nothing happens at all.

I removed the memory cards and reinstalled them.  Same thing.

I removed the memory cards and attempted to start the thing same computer.  No beeps.

I would like to make the backup disks that I made when I bought the computer.   I hesitate to do something with these discs.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.  But, what I read in the documentation, it seems as if with no beep with memory cards removed, it is the motherboard?

If it is the motherboard, does that mean?  Go buy another computer?

You're welcome, @EarlD1.  Novice, perhaps, but you did a great job!  It is one of the most difficult and scary for some, processes of diagnostics on a computer.

I read your first post again.  I think that the next step should be to test memory.  There are several ways to test, but I want to do the most simple.  Remove all the memory when the computer is off and replace them one at a time and start.  If the computer starts, the memory is good.

If memory proves to be good, I suggest that you try to perform a system recovery complete from the recovery media that you made when you purchased the computer.

I put the new Kingston 1 GB in the top slot of spare. When I rebooted the machine, the fan has come and the indicator light on the front came. But it seemed no not no start-up process at all and the screen remains blank. After a while the fan is stopped and the machine went into 'stop' mode I tried once more with the same result.

I then pulled out the new 1 GB Kingston memory, leaving the memory of old as he was, and the reboot of the machine as usual with no message or error. I thought that the machine would automatically pick up the memory of mew and reconfigure itself.

Any ideas on what could be wrong.

Yes, the laptop and the BIOS should automatically pickup the new module of memory installed. Try to enter the BIOS and check if the module has been recognized and safe the BIOS settings.

But perhaps you are using a bad?

I think you should try the recommended Toshiba the memory module. In this case, you can be sure that it will work, and you are on the safe side to 100%.

  • Windows 8 disc locked; It does not start at the home screen, will not auto repair and doesn't give me access to safe mode

Nightmare; perfectly working windows 7 64-bit configuration I upgraded (stupidly) to Windows 8 (it seems installing a 32-bit version for my troubles). I installed a driver for a having previously worked USB WiFi adapter (that is, it was working fine before the upgrade) and now it does not start. It says "irql less than equal", says his collection of information and restarts to a kind of repair mode, none of the options which work because he complains that the hard drive is locked. Any attempt to start in SafeMode (SHIFT + F8) fails, with mnode security options panel shows ever in service options. Really, a very incomplete piece of software - I should know better than to install version #1 what whatsoever.

Suggestions for moving forward? No, I don't have a record of victory 8 because I updated my installation of windows 7 perfectly work in updating online.

Simple repair that has worked for me.

If you have a windows install disc (if you borrow 1 from a friend)

run the disk at startup, press on f9 to choose cd rom as boot, press a key when it asks you,

Let the disc to the refreshment of startup repair section, choose Advanced & go to the command prompt and type.

    Bootrec.exe

    Bootrec/fixmbr

    Bootrec.exe/fixboot

    Bootrec.exe/RebuildBcd

When all this is over, it will show that your o/s and the reader don't worry if it shows as D instead of C, it is because the system resource use C at this point, it will ask you if you want to add this player to your startup type Y and your good to go, your old win 8 will draw upward as it did before spread the word.

  • Pavilion HPE H8-1121: Pavilion HPE H8-1121 - new graphics card + power supply does not start after screen HP (Revisited)

I have the same problem as this post 2013!  Ouch. Pavilion HPE H8-1121 - new map chart + power supply, does not start after HP screen.

I installed a new power supply (Seasonic 620W), which works well.  I also installed a GTX 660Ti last year and it was works fine as well.  I recently bought a ZOTAC GTX 970 and attempted to install it, but it will not go beyond the blue HP screen and I get the same code of beeps (1 long, 3 short), who, seems, suggests that the video is not initialized.

    My BIOS date is 2011.

Where can I find an update for this?

I'm also using Windows 10, which I found on the HP site is not tested on my model and would probably not favourable to good use.  Should I do back up to 7 or 8?  and then update the BIOS?  Y at - it a update for my BIOS and where can I find.

In any case, I hope that this is a solution.  Again, this is not a bad machine to be 5 years old.

    Thanks for any help!

If the video card that you have purchased dose not a legacy vBIOS it will never start. An update of the BIOS doesn't solve that.

It is likely that your new video card has a vBIOS UEFI and that only is for the PC motherboards newer than yours which have a UEFI BIOS. Your motherboard has a legacy BIOS. 2012 is the year of model when the UEFI BIOS more or less became the de facto on motherboards standard.

I return it for a refund. Find the candidate of video cards that support the old BIOS. It can be inherited only or switchable vBIOS (legacy or UEFI) vBIOS.  I suggest looking at the site of Sapphire Technology. ZoTac is not known to provide enough information about their video cards in the way. You upgrade a pre-built desktop PC and it's different and a little more difficult to set up a DIY PC. I looked at the site of Zotac and see that nothing is said about their video vBIOS cards.  I would return to the map.  Carefully read the specifications of the video card. A candidate for your motherboard card must have inherited vBIOS support or simply, it won't work.

ZOTAC (they don't say anything about their product vBIOS)

Because you look at game with 4 GB cards. Take a look at the following map. It has a double vBIOS. legacy and UEFI. http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=640A98CD-0CF0-4191-B75C-CA2800111ADB&lang=eng

  • upgrade CPU i7 in dv6t: Win does not start

In my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6t Quad), I replaced my old processor i7-720QM with an i7-840QM (same TDP, 45W). However, my Win 7 x 64 does not start now. It receives with regard to "start Windows" / pulses Win logo screen, but then it freezes and does nothing. If I power off power, I get "Windows did not start properly. I have to select "repair Windows". I see "Loading Windows files", then briefly green, 'Microsoft Windows' with a bar and then, once again, nothing. I was now in my old i7-720QM (the fact that I was able to go back to my old CPU smoothly tells me that I know how to swap the processors correctly). I checked the BIOS is the latest available for my laptop (F1D 05/10/2010). No idea what I should try? Should win 7 some drivers to recognize the new CPU?

Second time the charm: I managed to upgrade to the 840. Not sure what exactly went wrong the first time around, probably that Win cannot install the drivers for the CPU.

Current version is on my Windows 2000 SP3 my Firefox 3.0.19. I can't update anymore!
    There are two phenomena:
1.) when you use the function "search for updates", it offers a maximum version 3.0.19 upgrade.
2.) when I update manually (for version 15), it unpacks the files correctly but does NOT start the installation program - without ANY error message.

  • Tecra A11 - 11N does not start after upgrading CPU

    Hello

I would like to do an upgrade of the processor for my Tecra A11 i5 - 430 M 11N to a probably much faster i5 processor. I thought that the i5 - 580 M'd, but the laptop does not start when I installed this processor.

I started the 430M, done some research on the internet and discovered that the 580 M has a very high FSB speed, and that is what probably does not work / not compatible with my machine.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/43537/
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49653
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49652

    and also http://ark.intel.com/

Now, I went back to the computer store, returned the 580M and got an i5 - 560 M compared to its specifications as I've seen it would not compatible because it has the same speed of the FSB with the 430 M.

I then later in the day tried to install this cpu as an upgrade, BUT alas!
It STILL does not START ALSO.
I was dumfounded left. The processors in the same line of the family are supposed to be compatible between them provided: lithography, FSB and socket type are similar.

    Or what I'm missing here?
I did upgrades of CPU in many cases for desktop computers and laptops, and this is the first that has left me with no word to say!

    Please offer assistance or advice.

    Simon

+ The message has been modified.

    Hello

Recommend to check this doc from Toshiba:

+ Can I put th CPU, screen, or motherboard in my Toshiba laptop? +
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ35006D000RR01.htm

Upgrading the CPU is not supported (officially).
The point is that, even if the chipset would support the new processor, it would be possible that the laptop wouldn't start because of compatibility problems between the BIOS or other components on the motherboard and the new processor.

I'm trying to upgrade the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB. If I replace two 2 GB of 2 modules of 4 GB modules, the BIOS (which is the most recent) realize the 8 GB, but does not start at startup. There is just the white cursor blinking not.

When I put in the 1 4 GB module and 1 2 GB module the system starts without a problem and has 6 GB. I checked the two 4 GB modules, they work in any combination, but not when both are installed together.

I couldn't find any rider or the settings of the bios for the RAM...

    Any idea?

Thanks in advance for the help

The last plausible explanation is that both modules are ok, but not compatible with each other.
The laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM. This should not be a problem since the unit is supported by the Chipset Mobile Intel HM55 Express.

So I think that you need to replace the modules Kingston modules are great and work without problem.
