  HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer.   I think I might have made some progress with this problem. I had a friend call me and he suffered from these same questions. The partial solution (and probably most) I've discovered is that there is a critical update of the BIOS that had not been done. Because Windows 10 was already installed, it didn't appear on the page to Support HP or HP update software. The way I had the time it was to say the HP website that I had Windows 8.1.
