  Well you can easily remove the hard drive and connect it to a USB to SATA adapter and use it as a big USB stick to copy and paste the files on another computer. You do not give us the exact model, but if it has a processor AMD or nVidia graphics is a cousin of the dv6000 series which has been the subject of a recall over a faulty motherboard, there is many years. The motherboard could be repaired or replaced. We can help with that.   I'm trying to accomplish communication series between two laptops via a Bluetooth connection.

  The two laptops are NOT portable Toshiba, but they work together the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack For Windows. They have both also use the default Bluetooth Manager program supplied by Toshiba and Dell (just rebadged?).

  Basically I can set up a connection no problem, but then I have never send data serially from one computer and watch the receiver serial port on another computer but nothing happens.

  Is there a good tutorials for this? It would be nice to have something for the Toshiba Bluetooth Manager especially windows and buttons have names as explained in the tutorial.

  I tried via a hyperterminal connection for testing purposes and it worked.
  Maybe the description also contains useful information for you.

  After having wasted MUCH time/gene, the response was embarrassing easy (thanks to the support of ASUS) to answer this question for me.

  I suggest to contact the repair center and ask them what they were doing to repair your laptop.

  From what you wrote, it seems to me like they replaced the motherboard with a used 4 envy, which probably uses the same motherboard as the envy of 6.

  The only major difference between the models would be the size of the display screen.

  A used replacement motherboard would have a different serial number than the original one provided with your PC.

  A repair shop would need a special tool of DMI BIOS HP to change the serial number on the motherboard to match that on the bottom of your PC case.

  So, if you are happy with the repair work, they did and the specifications of the system are the same as they were before you sent the PC for repair, I wouldn't be too concerned with matching serial numbers is more.
