PCoIP Performance / Webcam

Hi all

It's really a question of both parties. I am runing a 4.6, using zero clients environment. I'm doing use of webcams in my environment. I noticed in the documentation, webcams are not supported for redirection of USB, but have heard talk of others use them without problem. My webcam works but the video quality is bad. Really bad actually. I wonder if it's because this is not supported, or do I need to make use of some PCoIP policies designed to improve the quality of the group.

At the same time, are there standard PCoIP gpo policies that you all are running just to improve the overall performance? I honestly haven't looked these policies much.

Mike

PCoIP is only USB 1.1 so bandwidth is very limited.

    Hi all

Im hoping somone could give me a little help!

I have 30 igel terminals (M300c) all currently running pcoip each terminal has a 1 GB link.

then a trunk of 2 GB on the server

the server that the VM is a:

    HP ProLiant DL380 G5

    CPU Cores 8cpu x 2,999 Ghz - Xeon x 5450 @ 3 .00GHz

    32 GB RAM

the question I have is that users who need to simultaneously run videos and sound, but the performance is simply not good enough and users begin to moan!

I had attached the newspapers that appear to me that I have with them, but at least that I really know what I'm looking for im a bit stuck.

IM starting to feel it's the terminals that are the issue.

If you need more info let me know

    Thanks in advance

Yes... the compression software is just the software compression...

hardware compression uses the cpu of the server, but if the customer is not one true pcoip zero client it won't perform as such.

example to connect to the vmware customer and make an rdp session in a hedgehog and it will lag like there is no tomorrow

do the same thing in a samsung or an evga (I have just these sorry customers) and they will perform and there will be no lag.

p.s. If this post was helpful please rate as such thanks

  • RDP vs PCOIP. When to use one over the other?

I think we'll run into problems of latency coming on WAN. That being said, I have heard PCOIP performance is not good over the WAN?  Why is better RDP over a WAN link?

The answer to that is a bit tricky...

The quick answer is that PCoIP is a hitter more than RDP, due to improvements in PCoIP to improve multimedia performance (and unfortunately), but takes a little more bandwidth than an equivalent RDP connection.

That being said, PCoIP remains most likely your best choice unless you have a real bandwidth restriction. In addition, some devices will NOT connect via PCoIP and will not allow a RDP connection (the client in order for the iPad comes to mind). However, there are exceptions, even to - Wyse allowing an iDevice to client that will connect to view using RDP if you want - but it's not free.

I've set up several clients with external access using PCoIP and personally, I have not had any problems - PCoIP is good enough, adjusting it according to the available bandwidth, but you will not really know until you try.

The good news is that it is very easy to change the settings of PCoIP/RDP - the console administrator display, you can specify the Protocol by default and even decide if the users can change it or not. Also the clients, you can allow to change between RDP and PCoIP if they experience performance problems.

So my final answer is just give it a try and adjust if necessary.

  • Specifications and API PCOIP

    Hello

We are a VMWare partner who is currently working on the construction of the PCOIP QOS monitoring solution. We are having a very hard time finding any documentation on the API available is to get counters and/or documentation of the software implementation of this Protocol.

Any assistance in finding what is mentioned above will be very appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Eran

There is really no API: s for PCoIP performance counters should be easy to read because they are standard windows performance counters, use WMI or VB-script to access.

  • Beginner: Customer Tera1 for always so slow?

    Hello!

I just started view assessment 6 in a very simple environment in order to make a few first steps VDI. To this end, I installed the view connection server and a VM Win7 on my host ESXi 6.

Then, I checked the installation using the Horizon Client on my workstation, as well as in HTML format on a different computer. That worked without problems and PCoIP performance was as good as using RDP. But then I bought an old thin client Tera1 (integrated in a LG screen) and the results were ridiculous :-(

Yes, I know that these guests of Tera1 came in age but I can't imagine that people have accepted this horrible show in the past. I mean, sometimes the screen redraws only once a second, and even keystrokes seems to be delayed so bad. And I speak only a basic use of Windows as navigate through the folders, rename files...

I double checked that it is not a network or a performance ESXi problem. The performance counters of all devices affected / VMs are absolutely in the range (without packet loss, latency of the network PCoIPs is presented as 0msec, no WAN/routing not involved, the network contains only 8 workstations).

The display resolution is set to 1024 x 768, and I set the amount of VRAM VMs to 128 MB.

So my question is if it's worth to try another zero - / thin client or to abandon this strategy completely and move apart from full clients.

    Hello

No, Tera1 clients are not otherwise slow. We still use many features of Tera1, and they have better performance some Windows computers older than we have. It must be your network or the zero client itself who has a problem. You use the same network termination point as your computer when you test the zero client? Have you updated the firmware on the zero client?

  • View 5.3: video performance worse PCOIP

Hi, we evaluate 5.3 view and we found problems with the user experience. See 5.2 for us seems better, but we can't find the explanation:

1-view direct connection of the Agent (VADC) disturbing Flash video. It's really strange, but when connect us directly to a computer virtual with VADC, Flash video is jerky. More strange, if the mouse cursor is on the video, it's OK, but apart from the video, it's bad. It is easy to test: connect to view VM directly with VADC (no not from VCS server), open the Youtube video and test. This disorder is not happen when Connect Server VCS. We have opened a ticket for Vmware, but we get no help. Instead, they said look at the Administrator's guide (come on Vmware, we don't not children are first using Vmware View, try to reproduce the problem instead of wasting our time).

2 - the overall video performance is worse under PCOIP session. We all try: with or without acceleration pool 3D, with or without Feature Pack, with or without MMR activated, increase the video RAM, VM, etc.. Settings change default PCOIP with view 5.3? We tested using tape to point out 1080 p, 1920 x 1200 movie trailer. It is always best to view 5.2. We do not store FPS but just to watch it's obvious.

All tests were conducted in a new installation in an evaluation environment. Same network and exactly the same configuration of our 5.2 view production environment. Default configuration of Sami PCOIP. For tests, we use new server Dell R620, 96 GB of RAM, ESXi 5.5, vcenter 5.5.0a device, only 5 VM in the not persistent pool, 1, 5 GB of ram by computer virtual, local storage s (15K rpm raid 1 drive).

There is really great news with 5.3, but for now we think that it is not ready to put into production. Does anyone have an explanation or indications of us? Thank you!

We live the same with the direct connection plugin (Desktone). With the mouse on the video is perfect. the mouse out of the flash window, and the performance is bad.

  • in the latest flashplayer webcam does not work, firefox 12 turns off old flash, a beautiful!

I have installed the latest flash, like I always do, but my webcam is not working with it (a known issue at adobe)
Their solution is to install an older version of flash.
It worked well until today firefox decides to turn it off and force me to update flash.
I can decide which version to use thank you very much, please?
It's really annoying, the card has disappeared from the list, so I can't allow it even if I wanted to...

you need to install the file flashplayer11_1r102_63_win_32bit.exe from the link you posted - the ax version is the only IE (ActiveX).

It works for me on firefox 12, nothing is blocklisted or disabled here, the plugin appears in the Manager addon that Shockwave Flash 11.1.102.63.
When I perform a sweep of plugin, flash appears as outdated but not further is pronounced. the message "flash has been disabled" on the mozilla plugin check page was probably just incorrect as it is displayed by default in certain situations (see bug 633285).

If you're still having problems, I would recommend that you delete the file named blocklist.xml in your firefox profile folder and disable the plugin getplusplusadobe16263.

  • Portege A600-13D - webcam stopped working

    Hello

I have a Netbook Toshiba Portege A600-13D old, I am very satisfied with it, but lately the WEBCAM does not work and I have no idea what to do. If I try to activate the camera, I have the answer:

The WEB camera could not been initialized

    Systemcontrol is the message:

The camera could not been started, Code 10

If I look at the driver and try to update, the message is:

The optimal driver is already installed

Maybe someone has an idea of what I can do and how to proceed. Sorry my bad English!

Thanks in advance and best regards
    gh_1929

    Hello

Error code 10 means that the device could not start.
This may be related to driver problem (software), but also hardware problem.

Let's see if its a software issue: check that I recommend you to uninstall the software for a Chicony webcam first.
As far as I know, you should be able to uninstall the software in the control panel? programs & features.
In the case of the Chicony webcam software is not listed here, go to Device Manager and uninstall the webcam driver which you should find in imaging devices.

After the system restart, go to the page of the Toshiba UE driver and download Chicony webcam software to perform the new installation.
You will probably need to restart the laptop once more to make it work properly.

So lets hope that this accelerated procedure would solve your problem of course that if the problem is related to the problem of software.

  • S50-B-12Z - sleep and charge satellite interferes with built-in webcam

    Hello
    I have a Toshiba SATELLITE S50-B-12Z with Windows 8.1.
Recently, when using Skype, the built-in webcam has stopped working.

At first, I thought it broke, until I tried to use the camera application.
This app does blue light and work the webcam, but for a second, then the Toshiba sleep and load the application is passed in and stopped and it starts to alternate between the camera and the blue light and the small window of sleep and the load.

So, with no remedy for this situation, I tried the recovery option to get factory settings, same question once again, alternating between the camera and sleep behavior and load.

I tried a refreshment and uninstall the Toshiba sleep and load the software and alternative behavior stopped, but now the webcam does not work. Update another and the same all over again.

I'm not an expert, but for what I see the webcam is related, in this model, for the USB hardware, so I think that sleep and charge feature interferes with the web cam (even when the software is uninstalled).

    Ideas for this problem?
    Thank you in advance.

    Bujar

    Hi Sonia

To be honest, I don t think that sleep & service or this service would affect the features of webcam.
TOSHIBA sleep utility allows you to charge USB devices such as a cell phone with the computer in standby mode or even stop mode. This is why there should be no link between this function and webcam

I can't say with certainty what's going wrong with your internal webcam but the fact is that in many cases the webcam and sleep function & load could be turned on and off in the BIOS.

In my opinion, you should perform a few checks.
First set the default BIOS settings (load default by pressing F9) and check if the webcam is enabled in the BIOS.

Second if you think that there is still a link between sleep and charge function and the webcam, then disable the sleep and the load in the BIOS, just to check if it will make a difference.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 L 5 PSAE3E-02300JIT problem with audio and integrated webcam

    Hi all!

I recently changed from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

Everything is ok except for the webcam and audio. I can no longer access the webcam and the sound is really low, even if the volume is at its maximum. The caps do not work (no sounds out of their share). I searched drivers (also in the section archive) but I did find what I need.

    What should I do?

    Thank you for your attention.

First I would recommend you to install the two drivers; driver webcam and its pilot.
    Audio driver
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/sound-20091102142037.zip

    driver webcam chicony
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/webcam-20091102142410.zip

Of course, you must also install other drivers as a value-added package.

After installing Realtek sound driver, go to control panel and here, you should see the Realtek HD audio Manager.
In the Realtek HD audio Manager you can change settings to improve the sound performance. You should also find yellow folder icons. The yellow folder allows you to choose how to get sound - headset or speaker.

  • Portege R700 webcam goes dark in low light conditions

    Hello

Since I bought my Toshiba Portege R700 about a year ago I had problems with my webcam. I looked in several forums but couldn't find an answer. My build in webcam has problems of adaptation in the light of the room.

When the room is dimly lit camera turns almost black after a few seconds. It is interesting enough before the camera darkens, he manages to produce a picture is ok for a few seconds, which means that the camera is capable of producing an image ok in low light conditions.

She has just problems adjusting the brightness in the room when it is poorly lit. I propose to toshiba update the software of the camera, since it is clearly a matter of software. And yes I've tried every single possible configuration for the camera! And Yes, I also reinstalled (several times) the camera driver.

I know that the camera performs well in places that have good lighting and so I'm only interested in improving my performance of cameras when not much light is available.

    Thank you very much
    Clem

    Hi dude

I understand that you would expect webcam great performance in poor light environment but I put t do you think it would be possible to get the good quality photo using the laptop is dark rooms.

The material of these small internal cams is limited and you see the same issues with other devices like smartphones cameras that resemble the internal cams s notebook.

In addition, the webcam software that is preinstalled on my laptop Toshiba supports the night mode option that allows you to improve the quality of the obscure image in the Middle but of course you will not get the same image quality if you want to use the cam in the luminous environment

  • 'Lost' on Satellite Pro L870 webcam

I bought a SatellitePro L870-171, with factory pre-installed Win 8 64 bit laptop for Christmas gift from my wife.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to get familiar with the functions and utilities, I found the web camera integrated a few days ago, which produced a self-portrait on the screen! More recently, I tried to find the way to access the camera again as my wife will want to try "Skype".

I can't locate or obtain a new screen image - no doubt I have pressed the wrong button screen at any given time have disconnected?

The camera is a USB device. I checked with + Control Panel/Device Manager/imaging devices + and the camera is shown as working properly with his driver as "TOSHIBA Web Camera - HD" - there is no yellow exclamation of warning icon. By clicking on the device and selecting Properties tab indicates the device is working properly. looking at + system devices in Control Panel under USB Controller all seem OK. Looking at + Panel configuration/devices & Printers + does not show a camers. (For some reason, this laptop doesn't have an applciation of camera like on the Win 7 version (don't know why?) when the Toshiba web site is checked.)

I was looking for Panel start with "camera" and all I get is a list of menu small
    -CameraSettingsUIHost.exe
    -ViewScanners & cameras

By clicking on the file EXE does nothing.
It is located in four files when you perform a search in windows for this.
By clicking on "ViewScanners"... "a dialogue window which should display the devices listed, connected and turned on. -There is nothing showing?

Click the Add button and crossed in the following windows, but only four manufacturers of cameras in the list, Dell, Kyocera, Lexmark, Xerox - neither of which is Toshiba.

Can anyone suggest what steps are needed to 'find' the camera again?

    I found on

a file from Toshiba Web Camera Application < tc30463200a.exe=""> , size 86 MB, for Win 7 32 bit to Win 8 64 bit.

    There are hundreds of laptops listed, but not my specific - the only L870 are «...» L870-ST2N01, L870D-BT2N22, L870-ST2NX1, L870-ST2N02, L870-BT2N22, L870D-ST2NX1... »

Should I install this application, although there is was that nothing installed initially?

Thank you in anticipation of the answers.

    Hello

First of all, you said you have a Satellite Pro L870-171 the link you posted above leads to the Toshiba driver page we your laptop is a European series, so you must use the drivers supplied by Toshiba UE driver page.

Your L870 Pro Satellite belongs to the PSKFPE series and the drivers can be found here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

However, I think that the webcam software is already preinstalled on your laptop, but you have looked in no position to webcam that you should not look in Control Panel, or in the Device Manager in you want to start the webcam program.
You must start windows explore and go to all programs-> Toshiba
There you should find the webcam utility.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - Webcam driver open fail

    Hello

I have toshiba satellite pro L300 model PSLB1E and in theDevice Manager is not no matter what imaging device and the driver for the Toshiba Page is showing "driver open fail. "Restart the computer or cam" gears. I uninstalled the driver 10 times and the updated driver, but not the camera works and is not presenet in Device Manager.

Where is the problem? the pilot? I'm desperate...

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Before performing a recovery facility, you should try to update the driver for the webcam and the BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If it doesn t work you must run an installation recovery and in the worst case, the hardware may be faulty and you will need assistance from an authorized service provider.
If your laptop is still under warranty, the repair should be free.

  • On Satellite A300-1MX webcam does not work properly

After my windows Vista system crashed 16 December 2011, I had made recovery.
After that, I have not found any driver for the webcam on the computer laptop everything. On the Toshiba support page, I finally found the 1.7 version, but this does not at all!

He always appears: driver Webcam open fails, restart the computer or the camera. Since it's built in camera I tried with the restart of the computer, but which did not help at all. So I tried with the option to repair the driver with Install Shield Wizard. The program has done something, but without success.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled and it did not help at all!

    Someone has an idea?

    Hello

Found an article in the knowledge base of Toshiba which describes this error and provides a solution to this problem.
+ Why displays the error message: "Webcam driver open fail. Restart the computer or the camera. » ? +
    + http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/OPT84026F0000R01.htm+

But its related to Portege M600 and Satellite U300 only.
However, you should also try to perform a BIOS update. After that, set the BIOS to default settings and save the changes. Then try to reinstall the software of webcam once more.

You should also check the Device Manager. Here in Device Manager that the webcam should be recognized as a USB device, if this isn't the case, then it means that the webcam was not recognized by the OS and that means there could be a hardware problem

As far as I know, the webcam is connected to the USB controller on the motherboard. If the cable connection is lost, then the webcam is not recognized in Device Manager; or as a USB device or an unknown device.
