PDFs from web disappear (independent of the browser being used)

Under XP with latest updates.

If I download a PDF file or that you try to save a PDF file of the web, the browser (IE8 or Foxfire) sees the file but it does not display a viz Windows Explorer or a search can find it.  I have turned off all firewalls, antivirus etc and behave the same.

Do not have this problem on a Vista machine I have.  I had to use it to save the files and then transfer them to my main machine, the XP machine. in question

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thank you.

Deeppow,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

Can you tell me which program you use to read pdf files? Have you been able to read them before, and if so, the problem just start happening? Did you recently change?

I can't wait to hear back on your part.

There is nothing you can do about it on your end. It is a parameter of the

  • Is there a way to link PDF open in Acrobat instead of the browser?

I want to make a PDF open in Acrobat instead of the browser, so that the user can see its interactive features. Is there a way to do this in Muse? Or is it always pass on the user's browser settings?

It would depend on the plugin installed, if the browser doesn't have a player plugin then pdf does not open in the browser.

Not much can be done through Muse, but you can try some settings of pdf password etc.

  • Is flash really independent of the browser?

Most of us in the developing world as the flash because of this wonderful word in fashion... "independent of the browser." What does this mean? No words, no more fights to make things behave the same on different browsers with things like javascript.

However, I have a huge problem. In developing a widget here at work, I came across a difference of mass synchronization. Here, take a look in IE and Firefox at the following address:

    http://www.calacademy.org/staging/NewSite/events/

Literally, the side of firefox is twice the speed! Help! (please)

My understanding is that Flash gets its timer of the browser and that the minimum under IE is 10 milliseconds. It was in Framerate, but could also be part of this. Perhaps. In any case, here is a link.

    http://www.kaourantin.NET/2006/05/frame-rates-in-Flash-Player.html

You said you tried to increase, then maybe that isn't the question. I never noticed a problem, but I never really use intervals much less than 30 or more.

  • Send as an attachment from web...  The option disappeared.

I recently replaced a machine for one of my users

and updated it to the latest version of Adobe Reader.  The operating system is Windows XP Pro, and it is using Firefox and Internet Explorer (7).

Before replacing his machine, if he opens a PDF from Internet Explorer (a Web site may have a link to a PDF file on their page), the file opens in the web browser and there will be an icon in the toolbar that just above loads the pdf itself, which allowed him to send as an attachment.  When you click the button, it should launch the default email client and attach the pdf file.

Now that the machine has been replaced, this icon on the toolbar has disappeared, and for the life of me, I can't understand how to get it back.

This same lack of send as attachment is so apparent from Adobe Reader.  (Only the icon is missing, but it can go to file > Attach to Email, which does not, but can help me is it someone also to get an icon for it on the toolbar as well?)  I tried to go into the tools 'more' in the toolbar options, and it seems that all others that Attach to Email exists as an icon I can add options.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

In Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3 If you click right while any PDF is open, which is not security-blocked... right click on the empty part of the toolbar which is the folder icon yellow "Open a file" and choose "More tools", and then scroll down to the 'file toolbar"you put a check mark next to the icon that says simply"Email ".  I think that the same procedure would work for Adobe Reader.  Which version of Adobe Reader do you use?

  • create pdf from web page IE 11

bought a new computer with windows installed 10. IE 11 will not let me create a PDF from a web page unless I have disable IE protected mode. When I click Create file its supposed to create pdf it tells me that it does not find you? I tried also to pdf creator and it also gives me the same prompt and only works in non-protected mode as well. However, my other computer which has windows 7 pro with IE 11 acrobat Pro DC worked fine. and when I he classified 10 Windows I have no problem at all. Adobe engineers and Dell tech have tried everything and I mean everything without success. When I contacted Microsoft they asked me if it worked on board... well duh that ended the conversation.

Thank you for reporting the issue. It is a known problem and the engineering team leans on it.

  • a new tab opens whenever I do a search on my home page, how can I stop this from happening? I checked the browser.search.openintab and the value is set to FALSE, any ideas?

  • Cross-references in the output PDF from Framemaker: how to center the Pages?

I think I understand quite well the functioning of cross-references in Framemaker, but one thing that bothers me, it's how, when you generate a PDF from Framemaker file and clicking on a reference, the resulting page view locates the cross at the top of a page reference marker.

It's very annoying and confusing when, say, referring to a figure of legend that appears at the bottom of a page. Page display that results when such a reference in a PDF document after Center the text of the _following_ page, with the text of the legend of the barely visible figure at the top of the page.

My question: is it possible to build cross references that show the page, when you click in a PDF document, is centered on the page that displays the cross-reference material?

    Thank you very much.

    JMW

    Not AFAIK in FrameMaker.

But in Acrobat, set the initial view one Page instead of continuous.

File > properties > Initial View.

Two upward (direction) and two up (cover Page) would also work.

  • Possibility for the PDFS linked to be opened in the browser?

    Hello

I use 9 Captivate and I wonder if it's possible for a PDF linked to open separating it into PDF format, rather than in a new browser window.

For example, the PDF file has automatic update fields that are not updated when opened in the browser, but updates correctly when opened in Adobe Acrobat.

    Thank you

    Hello

To my knowledge, how any linked file opens or that is completely dependent on the end-user device and how it has been configured to process regardless of the file is.

I would be surprised to discover that you can influence exactly what happens when the user clicks on the link.

I don't believe in other words, you can force a specific behavior.

    See you soon... Rick

  • Calling JavaScript from a standalone SWF (outside the browser)?

Can a SWF file, read locally in a folder on my PC, make a call to a function in a JavaScript file?

I am faced with a project where the technical architect prescribed that all the existing content in a JavaScript all-in-one, giant file. With my usual external content experience, use of XML, I've always been able to load in XML format in the SWF file directly (for example, while displaying the SWF in the authoring environment Flash - a very quick way to view your SWF file), as well as when the SWF file is actually seen on the Web site. However, the JavaScript approach, my only experience tells me that the SWF file must be embedded in HTML until it had access to the JS functions.

Does anyone know how it's - or if this - cannot be achieved?

Without knowing any better, I guess the SWF must directly access the *.js file before he could call a function...

    Thanks in advance!

I don't see how it could be done without a container of flash player.
