PE1950 SSD?
We have a server PE1950 Gen 3, we can look to install some SSD on. The SSD is crucial CT512MX100SSD1. This technique of the product:
says he of a 6Gbps and will work with 3 Gbps. My question is, is the work of these SSDS with our server of gen 3 PE1950?
They will likely work, but don't expect levels of performance full of them, and they will probably always show offline (a amber LED on the drive tray and warnings or error in OMSA). There is also the possibility that they do any work.

SAS 6/iR integrated SAS + SATA (SSD) negotiated speed PE1950
Hello
I installed on my PE1950 III two disks in SAS 6/iR integrated (embedded).
The first is SAS 73 GB 15 k that uses 3Gbps and the second is EVO 840 Samsung 250 GB (ssd). I know that these SSD is not supported by Dell, but it works very well, just one problem: I'm having negotiated speed 1.50Gbps, which should be 3 Gbps (Maximum reading rate I'm testing is ~ 150 MB/s, this SSD supports up to 500 MB/s).
I have not installed on a SATA Interposer, mixing with SAS hdd on the controller. Could interposer solve the problem and let me use entire 3Gbps from the channel? I have an unused connection to the House, but by asking if it's worth going to the data center and place one on the SATA.
Thanks in advance!
Hello
Yes, the SSD is not officially supported on the SAS 6/IR.
Sometimes I run a similar setup on my home desktop system. I had not noticed that my EVO 840 had negotiated to 1.5.
I started the BIOS of the SAS 6 controller and indeed the negotiated 840 to 1.5. I'm on my OS on the EVO GB 840 250 and I 2x1To than SATA in RAID 0 for the data drives. The SATA drives are 3.0.
I installed the latest version of the Samsung magician software: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/samsungssd/downloads.html and used it to update the EVO to the latest firmware. I rebooted and started in the BIOS OF THE controller without change. He was still negotiating to 1.5.
Then, I stole an inserter of one of my 2950 servers and attached to the EVO 840. I started in the BIOS OF THE controller, and it is now negotiating to 3.0, so it would seem that an inserter will allow him to negotiate the connection speed correctly.
Thank you

How to change back to SSD HARD drive?
My mcbook pro comes with the original 500 GB of HARD drive. When he ran with a problem, I went to an apple repair shop. Problem was in the charts, and he suggested the HARD drive to be replaced by a 120 GB SDD. So it has been replaced, but the guy on the left HARD drive as a storage device. Moment where DDI is left with small space and when I update to OS X El Capitan of OS Sierra, it had to be installed in the HARD disk drive. Could someone please give instructions to install the new OS to the SDS to lose all my data and the current configuration and it is also possible to install windows XP on the HARD drive and 10. Either by the way, I got Windows 10 and XP shared with the SDS via parallels. Thank you
I think this can be useful for you:
How to use an SSD with your HARD drive
If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.
After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.
Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.
Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

Latest MBPs are not autonomous RAM/SSD upgrade?
Hello
I recently heard that these latest Mbit/s do not allow users to upgrade RAM or SSD.
What is the latest model of MBP which will allow upgrades?
Would that be a model already abandoned?
Thank you very much!

Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro
Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD. For about a month and so far without problem.
Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6). I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive. Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software. And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.
My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)? This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different. At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.
Thank you.
Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

Cloning of SSD HD via active with Filevault disk utility
Hi all
I want to improve my HD to SSD.
I intend on using disk utility for recovery mode to clone my HD to a Virgin SSD I bought.
I must, however, Filevault enabled on my HD.
It will be a problem when it comes to cloning the drive?
Thank you
Adam
No, it shouldn't be a problem. It may be necessary first turn on FileVault and encrypt the SSD. But if there is no problem just turn off FileVault on the HARD drive.

Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro - does not fit into my Mac Pro.
I just bought a Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro Plus (the same, physically, like the Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro)
I can't even came close it enter my Mac Pro end 2012. On the back of the bumps in the fan card, even with the fan cover pulled back. This isn't a case to remove the lower lip, which obviously I do, I can't do it AT all, not even at an angle.
I called Sonnet, but incredibly the tech said that it must adapt.
It seems that I have only 2 choices: unscrew the fan and moving it more far forward of the mac (somehow) to cut about 1/2 "on the back of the Sonnet card. The latter would obviously kill my warranty, and I don't even know if the bloody thing still works.
To my amazement, I find nothing about it online. It's like the Twilight Zone.
Any ideas? Someone knows has a video that shows a successful installation?
Pls confirm what Mac you have.
There is no end of 2012 Mac Pro, only mid 2012.
There is a 2012 end MacBook Pro.
Many retailers who sell SSDS have diagrams or installation videos. An example https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macpro_2010/

Editing a file to remove confidential data from a solid state drive (ssd)?
I understand that El Capitan has removed the option "Secure Empty trash" because of hard drives (ssd) state how strong. So, I try to understand how I can work around it.
Let's say I have a Pages or Word file with a list of names that should be kept confidential, and I want this file to the trash.
What happens if I change the file to remove these names? Removing ssd data? Can I trash then the file as usual without worrying about confidential data remaining on the ssd?
Or what should I do if I replaced the confidential names with something? For example, if I was John Doe on the list, what happens if I change to be John xyz? XYZ crash Doe on the ssd?
No it doesn't, use FileVault to encrypt the contents of the disc.

I have a mac with an SSD, it freezes after almost exactly 60 minutes
I have a Mac with an SSD. It freezes after almost exactly 60 minutes and made for quite awhile - new version of iOS makes no difference
What specific model Mac?
Install a speed temperature and fan monitoring app like the following to see if overheating is the cause of the problem

- Note the time of the next frost. After the reboot, open the Console app in Finder > Applications > utilities and look for entries of the log at the time of freezing. Suspicious message here.
Search before the journal entry that begins with BOOT_TIME since it is the first line of ahttp://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control start

Best way to make my SSD works again with a single partition
There are 2.5 years, I replaced the original on my computer with a SSD hard drive. Months after I installed the beta version of Yosemite, the latest operating system for Mac at the time. To do this, the system created a partition on my drive, in which he has installed the beta version of Yosemite.
I have today on the same partition, I installed Yosemite, Sierra macOS running. In the other, I have all files, so I want to eliminate. However, when I try to do this by using the disk on my Mac utility, it is not possible; I get a message that says I can't delete the first volume of the disc. When I try to increase the size of the partition on which macOS Sierra operates, so reduced the size of the other, the system won't let me.
I would like to know what is the best way to make my SSD works with only one partition.
You cannot delete the last partition that was created, that not 1.
You can clone the content from the 2nd to the 1st, then you can remove the 2nd.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD? or would it be too expensive?
Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD?
or would it be too expensive?
Yes. There are several alternatives. I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook. It works very well. Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)
Re: This win to install a SSD drive in a PowerBook G4?
Re: SSDS (my post is halfway - "this is how I did with my trusty Pismo...) »)
FYI - I have used the adapter is even cheaper now

My goal is to make my data inaccessible to the person who will buy my Macbook opportunity. While I'm fully aware that this is an almost impossible task to delete really an ssd, I read that if you encrypt everything before you wipe the drive and reinstall the OS, at least, the recovered data can be read. However, I read these seemingly wise advice AFTER I had already deleted my Macbook and reinstalled the operating system. So, the question is with my 'deleted' data and the operating system reinstalled, activation of encryption at this point will achieve my goal, or still will remain unencrypted data previously of the ' erased '?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
She will remain unencrypted.
