Peripheral shuffle not recognized-iPod USB - Vista
Hello
I have a laptop HP 6730 s that works perfectly since I bought it a few months ago. I recently bought an iPod shuffle 2nd generation. The device worked properly once. Neither the ipod nor any other usb device works now. There is an exception: my HP printer which is connected by USB, but has its own power supply still works.
I get the error message "USB device not recognized", even if there is no at all connected usb devices.
Thanks in advance for any help
Andrew
Andrew Russell,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.
We need to collect information to this issue.
When you go into the Device Manager, the USB controller is displayed as working properly or does have a yellow exclamation mark on it?
What is the error "USB device not recognized" appear - what happens when the mnessage appears?
You have restarted the computer? (I know, stupid question, but some people don't do that)
The same thing happens if the computer is running on battery or AC power?
Here are a few things to try until we get more information from you:
Rollup cumulative update for USB in Windows Vista Basic components
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/941600
Try uninstalling the iTunes software, reboot, and then try another USB device to see if it works. Sometimes iTunes can be damaged and cause USB problems.
Let us know if any of these things help, and the answers to the questions, then we can also help you.
Thank you

Now, this HARD drive is not recognized on USB 2.0 ports from my laptop (same thing on my desktop computer) but only on the USB 3.0 port.I have try on port USB2.0 computers different (desktop, laptop) but it doesn't work. The LED is the lightning, but the drive does not appear in the file Explorer.

> Now this HARD drive is not recognized on USB 2.0 ports from my laptop (same thing on my desktop computer) but only on the USB 3.0 port
USB 3.0 port 900mA feeds. The USB 2.0 port common provides 500mA.
I think that the HARD drive needs more 500mA power in order to work properly. So if you want to use the HARD drive on USB 2.0 ports, I recommend you to use a USB Y cable which allows to connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports

Device not recognized-to USB using Windows XP (sp3)
The camera is on, I did not USB drive internal or external, the USB cable is a direct connection with the camera and the computer. I am running windows XP; I even tried on another laptop and at the end upward with the same message-USB device not recognized! This could be a software problem on the camera, or a bad set of USB cables? The camera is 2 years old and the cable have used about 6 times to transfer photos from the camera to the computer. When I tried on another laptop I got the following message: not properly installed device driver software! Is there a solution to this problem?Hi RigoSantiago,
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Install the drivers for the camera and associated software. Also, see the manual for more information.

Not recognized/defective USB device
My sister has her ipod touch over at me because she asked me to restore it for her because she has forgotten her password. I tried to plug the ipod into my laptop and a message pops up saying, "USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. "I sat during most of the night trying to figure out what's wrong. I've been to about 50 Web sites and that you have not yet found a solution. The Ipod does not charge when connected to my laptop, but it will be when its connected to my PS3. I have all the updated drivers, update to itunes, etc. Its driving me crazy. All solutions?

Hello
For some reason, my Itunes decided today not to recognize my Ipod (nano, 7th generation). I tried to uninstall and reinstall Itunes, reset the Ipod and deleted the folder, "lockdown". It appears in the file Explorer when I connect, but when the error message appears and I press 'OK' he no longer appears. I connected the Ipod to another pc and it works (the latter has an earlier version of Itunes). Would appreciate any help you could provide. Windows pc
Thank you
Given that you have confirmed that the iPod works with another PC, if you use the same docking cable, the cause must be on your usual PC. The PC and iPod connect, so the problem seems to be with the iPod not recognized by iTunes.
FYI - an iPod nano does not run any version iOS. It has its own software for the iPod.
Normally, you don't need to uninstall iTunes before installing an update, and this can actually cause a problem. If you did it because you had a problem after installation of an update and you just uninstalled iTunes, you may want to completely uninstall iTunes and associated software components. This Apple documents lists the components of the installation of iTunes and the precise order to uninstall

My HP 14 laptop is not recognizing the usb ports and wifi at startup.
During the last few days I been dealing with the issue that my laptop does not recognize the usb ports and wifi. After several reboots, it works fine. My drivers are up to date, so I don't know why, I'll have this terrible problem.
Welcome @hildergarn,
Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I understand that you have a problem with your Wi - Fi and USB ports on your laptop from HP.
My first suggestion would be to use the wireless network troubleshooting and Internet tool. At the bottom it will ask you questions to help you diagnose the problem.
Please take a look at this great Charter called troubleshooting wireless network and Internet. This document will help you to solve the problem of Wi - Fi.
Have you tried to restore the BIOS?
Have you tried to connect directly to the Modem/Router?
You have uninstalled the driver in Device Manager?
Please try to uninstall the driver in Device Manager by using the following steps:
- Go to the Device Manager.
- Expand network adapters.
- Right-click on all NICs individually.
- Click on uninstall.
- Restart the laptop twice.
How many devices you try to connect?
What you are trying to connect via USB?
Are - what you happened to try to use the HP Support Assistant?
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you not him have not yet tried. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updated.
Here are other troubleshooting steps that may help too. If the USB device does not appear in Device Manager, then it might be a question of power requirement. Unplug the machine and perform the following steps until the device is detected:
- Reboot the laptop
Plug in and wait five seconds.
If the device does not appear, try connecting to another USB port.
If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after you connect the cable to a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.
If the device is not recognized in any port, unplug it and go to the next step.
- Open the Device Manager.
Double-click Bus USB controllers,
Double-click on a USB root hub,
Click the Power tab
Click on properties of power supply (if it is displayed).
Devices need that are connected to the hub are shown, as well as the power they have. If the total displayed power is more than 500 mA, remove the devices and use a hub powered.
Continue looking at the properties of the power of each USB hub. If the total power required exceeds the total available power for the hub, then remove a device on this hub to a decrease in the number of consumption.
Plug in and wait five seconds. If the device is not recognized, unplug and go to the next step.
Please note; Remove USB cables at high speed that are more than 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and use cables at high speed that are shorter than 3 m.

Windows XP is not recognizing the USB Ports?
My NetBook of Asus Windows XP does not see any USB device I plug. Everything was fine before I left on vacation. My return (netbook left alone in the House, nobody else uses) I plug in any device is recognized.
It is also not recognize memory cards I plug in the memory card slot. This has all worked very well before.
No removable disks are visible in disk management. Device Manager can't find no error in the sections of the USB. Check for material changes in DM solve either. Drivers seem to be ok from what I can tell.
Of course, I restarted a sound all USB ports and the memory card with multiple devices.

CD/DVD drive not recognized by Windows Vista
I installed a suite of burningb of CD and DVD on my Toshiba (under Vista Home Premium). My CD/DVD drive appeared more in the computer and was no longer functional. I deleted the program I installed and apparently caused the problem, but it did not help. I have read through the help of Microsoft (929461, 314060) documents and used the Fix - It utility. Also unsuccessful. I discovered the response of Martin, the technical support engineer made on May 5, 2009. I followed his instructions with great success. However, my question now is this: I have still some remains of the problem left over. I get an error message at startup saying, 'InstaBurn UDF driver is not installed correctly. Run the InstaBurn installation program. ' InstaBurn is part of the suite of the copy (hotpics by Nova Development Corp.). I also have an error message of my reader DVD Toshiba saying that the DVD player does not work - although it is. I played a DVD as a test on it after that I followed the instructions above. How can I remove these error messages annoying that aren't accurate? Would appreciate any information about this minor - but annoying problem.
Hello
Do a Restore Point then you can go back to where you are if necessary although you should not have to:

---------------------------------------------------------------Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or

USB keyboard not recognized on USB 2.0 Ports
Hello, I have a dell inspiron 3521.
It has:
2 USB 2.0 ports.
2 USB 3.0 ports.
Whenever I connect my USB keyboard to any port 2.0, it is not recognized.
Instead, it is shown in the unknown devices section.
Earlier, when I had problems with the host VMWare keyboard driver, I had disabled, uninstalled, deleted ad form pilot system via the Device Manager.
Then the keyboard worked until you restart.
Now, it is not recognized on all USB 2.0 ports, but works perfectly in a USB 3.0 port.
I tried the following:
Uninstalled the USB drivers and restarted the system.
Tried to update the driver software (all Device Manager).
Tried with another keyboard, but it does not work either.
What should I do next?
Please suggest me some solutions.
I would recommend that you consult article Troubleshooting wired keyboards that do not or evil characters such.
