  Received a call phone last night of "Microsoft" after 23:00, children pick up the phone. The lady called with a number unknown, convinced the children to have access to their computer laptop because otherwise Microsoft will 'plant' (her words) their computer. They came to me only when the lady asked for 20 bucks to pay by phone while she can solve the problem. Of course, I give no information her and she denied that she asked the children for the money. I asked his name, a reference number for the call, someone else talk, a serial number or something to have on hand for future reference. Nothing has been disclosed to me, she said I want to see how Microsoft will crash the laptop then she hangs up. So my question is: who are these people that call in the name of "Microsoft"? For me, it's all a scam that leads to fraud.

  It is a scam, there are several ongoing. Microsoft has nothing to do with it, and they aren't MS authorized resellers. If you let them take control of your computer remotely, you should be ashamed of yourself.

  A few hours earlier, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. TO NUMBER A BLOCKED (no caller ID).  Said that they were receiving messages from my computer it has been infected by a virus.   I get phone calls from a person claiming to be a Microsoft contractor.  He said that my computer has been hacked and wanted me to access my INF file so I could correct and stop piracy.   Everyone has just received a phone call from someone with a foreign accent CLAIMING to be from Microsoft? and they said that I got the virus, ect on my computer and they wanted me to go on the computer and I guess = open a site that would PROBABLY destroy my computer... I told the man twice, that I had no problems and thanked him for the call and HUNG up...

  I heard there is a SCAM where someone from another country wants to go to a certain web site current and there wher you download something that ruins your system. I'm not stupid and I quickly hung up.

  I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. He said that one of my computers was not related to obtaining updates and I had to fix it. He said that does not connect would cause my computer down.
  I did not trust the person at all, it provided no evidence that he was from Microsoft when asked and he kept trying to get me out on my computer for him.

  Actually one of my computers has been freezing / crashing a lot but I just assumed it was because it is now old enough for a laptop. Is everything "that connects only not updates, causing accidents" actually a thing? Or I was right not to trust this person?
