Phone calls randomly on a Windows virus
I got calls saying that my Windows is infected with a virus and they want to guide me through the 'fixing '. I did not do what I'm suspicious of the call random people (who do not speak English) and telling me they KNOW these things. I just bought a new computer with Windows 8 on 31 Oct and have not seen any problems. Should I be concerned about those phone calls?

Ignore them; hang up on them.
It's a scam and with various names and phone numbers, is
become very frequent lately. See

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
If you leave them in your computer, which knows what losses they did are
where confidential information they stole.
So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following
immediately:
1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
financial sites.

I received 3 phone calls informing me that Windows Defender is hurting my computer and they will refund my money. He also wants me to turn on my computer... I put him up until I can get the information... is it a hoax? Thanks for any help...
Hello
Windows Defender is the antivirus integrated in Windows 8/8.1/10 and do NOT harm your computer.
It protects your computer.

Here's the advice I give on this type of phone calls:
It's a scam.
We have all the errors and warnings in our Event Viewer, which is another ploy they use to scare you
Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.
You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.
If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.
If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.
And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.
There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

Phone call of support of Windows said I have a virus
I received a call from an Indian man today telling me that it was Windows Support and that my system had a virus on it, and it was dangerous. I stopped the man and told him that a relative of mine has had the same call and that she had checked that it was not Microsoft and Windows wouldn't contact me by phone unless I had contacted and asked them to call me. He tried telling me that if I didn't do that he asked that the system would get slower and more slowly and eventually fall down, I told him bluntly that I didn't believe that it was Windows and he was trying to sell me something that I really don't need that I have Norton 360 and had not flashed up problems with viruses. He told me that Norton 360 was not very good and it would still leave virus (a lie). I then asked where he got my number as I don't give, if I can help, he said, it is based on a questionnaire (which I had not filled in), I told him that I was a member of the GST with BT and I didn't talk to him more, and he could be sentenced to a fine for call me cold and then put the phone down.
These people don't realize that there are actually certain IT savvy computer owners out there, what really gets me, is that they tell us that they got our information from questionnaires or market research when we have not completed anything, either online or other.

Phone call to technical support Windows
I just got a call from someone who claims to be from the Windows support. The voice has been strongly accentuated so it was difficult to distinguish what he said, but it sounded like my computer has been infected by a virus that can crash at any second. My security system does not display any problem. It of call for real and has made a Windows tech support person really call me?
Thank you

Someone had a phone call from a crook "Windows Care"?
Yesterday, on November 4, @ 5:00 p.m. PDT, I received a phone call from a man with an accent who knew my name saying he called "Windows Care" and there was a problem with my computer. I hung up.
I wonder if others get these calls in North America. I read that it was a wave of them earlier in the year in the United Kingdom. How he got my phone number and name? How can protect yourself you?
JenniferAnne, Victoria BC, CANADA
It's a scam and the calls are received in Europe and North America we know... probably in Asia and South America also. Name and telephone number could come from "the directory" or any public documents. Protect you by doing exactly what you did... you were enough NET determine this was a scam and you have hung up.

I also received a phone call from an Indian man who said I had a virus, I did not open anything but try to connect but could not it says something like unable to connect that someonelse is connected, I tried to log on my girls password and the same thing happened there. When I closed the computer and re entered my password allowed me right there.
