Photoshop and working color spaces

How many color spaces Photoshop can work properly?

Can only work with gamma 1.8 and 2.2 those or even with linear or L * space color gamma?

Isn't it enough that the spaces of work RGB = 0 0 0 mapped to L * = 0 and RGB 255 255 255 mapped to L * = 100?

Thank you

Marco

An infinite number.

If you have a valid profile for your document, Photoshop can use.

If you have a valid profile for your display, Photoshop allows to correct for it.

Color settings show a RGB working space and work like Photoshop CMYK space. In InDesign, I seem to be CMYK all the time. My printer works fine with sRGB. When I send an InDesign page to the printer, I send sRGB or given CMYK? Should I if CMYK must use a specific profile?

    / Jason

InDesign has RGB and CMYK 'concurrent' jobs, any given file will probably be both. He works at the level of the object instead of file level. Any given object can be RGB or CMYK.

Images should be RGB original. Native graphics objects are by default CMYK, but can be defined as RGB in the color Panel.

The normal release of ID is a PDF file for printing, especially if you want to send, you could simply export a PDF Conversion RGB and print that.

If you print from ID (which you can), do the same way you do with the PS: InDesign let manage the color and turn off color management in the printer driver. Then all of these conversions are performed by ID on the fly, CMYK or RGB.

  • What is Pro P YUV (YCbCr) and RGB color spaces?

If I understand correctly, Premiere Pro handles colors and luminance in a variety of ways depending on what you do with the video.

For example, with cuts only edition, P Pro upsamples YUV (Y Cb Cr) video of its sampling frequency native native (4:2:2, 4:1:1, 4:2:0) in 4:4:4. Then converts this on-the-fly to RGB for display on computer monitors but retains the oversampled YUV for the current edition.

That said, when the application not YUV tag video effects or transitions, the YUV video is converted to RGB, the effects or transitions are applied and then it is converted into YUV lose some quality along the way. Fix? When working with YUV tagged effects, there is no intermediate conversion into RGB, which is a good thing.

But beyond that, all the video work in YCbCr color space? What happens when transcoding? Is there an optimal workflow?

Also, what the scope of the YCbCr Parade? The YC waveform, RGB Parade, and the Vectorscope are first intuitive largely because P Pro display and effects are WHAT RGB oriented (despite the many effects with YUV tags). So, what is the best use and approach when working with YCbCr Parade field?

    Thank you

    Jeff Sengstack

    (1) the same treatment of color usually occurs during playback as an export. Where possible, we process and store the data YUV all the way up the screen where we will convert on the fly.

    (2) only the elements of track containing non - YUV effects will be converted to RGB and only for non - RGB effects.

    (3) information may be lost in two ways. First of all some YUV values will map to negative values greater than 255 RGB or RGB and they catch to these limits. Secondly a given value of YUV pixel may map to a fractional pixel RGB value how to round to the nearest. 32 bit floating point RGB is not either of these problems.

    (4) many effects are directly working YUV. If you are looking for an example of chroma appears in the interface user of the effect, video limiter would be an example. How to make controls at an effect is not always directly correlated to how it is made. Use scopes to monitor the YUV values has several objectives. Most of the output formats are still YUV so you will monitor what will be your exit. Also depending on your target, ensuring the values of legal dissemination may be important. Of more if you try to adjust something like the brightness of a scene the luminance channel can be the most important to measure value.

  • How to solve "unsupported color space" to pack a psd

I have a big PSD with dozens of dynamic linked or embedded objects, when I try to package I get

"Couldn't package the document" (aw) .psd "because a color has been specified using a color space not supported."

Because Photoshop gives me no clue as to what and had this "unsupported color space" is, how to solve this?

    (PS CC 2015.5.1 MacOS 10.11)

An easier option would be to sort your smart objects related, then rasterize them for the "packed" version (do not save on the linked original PSD). Which should convert them to your current working color space.

  • Lightroom 3 and CS5 color change when recording to JPEG

Desperately need help on this one...

In a nutshell if I use lightroom 3 only and print the images printed images are exactly the same on the screen - so I guess the calbration of the screen is correct.

If I use lightroom 3 and export to CS5 to continue to make adjustments more when I save the image in jpeg, it seems to have saved well. However if you then maximize the photo in full-screen colors change - radically. Basically, they look aweful. They become quite dull and lose it saturation settings (which were made originally in Lightroom). They print this much too.

It drives me crazy. I don't think that it has nothing to do with the calibration because it is OK when just using LR3.

I played with it quite a bit to try to find a solution and have found that if I export for CS5 and Lightroom makes no changes to the photos but just save - she always changes the colors

Sorry - if it makes a difference... may not, but I have not exported from lightroom for CS5.

Everything I do is select the right click, click on edit in the > Adobe Photoshop CS5.1...

Then in CS5 it opens and appears exactly the same as in LR

From there, I click on file > save under > Jpeg formats and there is an another labeled checked - ICC profile: Prophoto RGB (not really sure what it is and there is no other options to change)

I tried to show a difference in color by joining the photo.

Photo right is edited in Lightroom. These colors are what you see when it is maximized on screen and the colors print correctly too. This photo has been open and then in CS5 (photo left) (with LR adjustments) and saved as jpeg and you can see how to change the colors. But you do not see the change unless the screen is completely optimized - and she that prints a lot too.

I don't know what to do someone had similar problems?

    LR3 and CS5.png

Yes.  Had something similar last night, but with LR 4.1. I suspect that we each have a color profile mismatch, although I had no time to solve my problem yet.

My first thought is that the native LR color space is Prophoto default, but PhotoShop must have its 'working color space' specified by the user.  Unless Prophoto is specified in PS, there will be differences in color on a Prophoto image scale (sensitivity) of color-travel will vary from one image to the opening image.

To change the workspace in PS, pull down the Edit menu and select "color settings".

Don't forget to check the box to inform you and ask how you want to handle the inadequacy of the color profile.

As the previous poster said, prophoto is a bad choice for the use of the web.  probbaly the most commonly used color space sRGB is relatively low

    Good luck.

  • Color space in After Effects by default

    Hello world

Fast and quick question for you:

Is there a way to set a default color space in the aftermath?

Whenever I launch AE I change from 8 to 36bpc and set the 'None' to sRGB and linear color space. I tried to synchronize my account settings, but it does not change a thing, I do whenever I start a new project.

Do you know if there is a way to change this and why do the color space, the none default value?

    I am grateful for!

It's just how AE works. Traditionally, AE had no color management and always assumed a standard sRGB color space, where any advanced options must be set manually. I don't know we talk their ears off the coast backstage at new default values on the beta today still just as they did a decade ago, but alas, things are just as they are. Until the AE unifies these parameters to be included for example in the parameters of the model, I don't think that this will change anytime soon...

  • LR - PS for color space

    Hello

I used PS4 and bridge for years. Now I've finally moved PS and LR CC. So again to know how everything works. I met a few questions on the color space.  I capture in raw and I have existing files in PS4 in the color space sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 8-bit (I realized just now that's worse for printing color space) I understand that Adobe Prophoto is a such color space big monitors will not be able to show all the information which means that there is a gap between the screen and printed. Given that I'm large format prints problably it is better to use Adobe RGB 16 bit depth.

I learned that RAW files will not have a color space so I don't need to choose or worry about them and also that LR works in a color space called Meilssa/Prophoto RGB.

Now, I received the following question:

What will happen with the color space for my existing jpg and psd, tiff girls I have in PS4 in sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 once I then added in LR? Will be it be converted to Prophoto RGB since it's the working color space of LR? If this isn't the case, it will remain in the original color space. I would like to have these files to stay in space orginal color and depth. Because I don't want to run the risk of losing information by conversion of color spaces.

Hope someone can help me with this. And correct me if some of my results are not correct.

    Thanks a lot ,

    Hazel

Your sRGB files will be fine - they will not visually change and will not somehow by LR ProPhoto, workspace.

LR assigns a profile when you export and then choose sRGB on export of these files.

  • Export failed to achieve the required bit rate and colour care space - ProRes 422 in MPEG2

With the help of first Pro CC v7 I exported a ProRes 422 (HQ) MPEG2 file and selected the HD 1080 p 23.976 preset.  I needed the finished file to have a minimum of 50Mbps flow and the color space to be YUV422.  I was under the minimum flow rate and the color space is incorrect. Can someone please instruct me on how to get my desired results. Thank you!

MXF OP1a XDCAM options are hard wired for the correct settings for each preset - in the case of 422 @ 50 mbit, it already uses a preset CBR (constant bit rate).  The main codec Concept always Compress contents, so it is quite possible that your source material will eventually take less space than 50 Mbps, depending on the complexity of the images.  There is nothing to replace it, you can change, it's just the codec do its thing.

I don't see how the color space was incorrect, unless you take what you think that you have chosen.  Make sure you're one of the presets that has 50 in the name, picking, and other (18/35) VBR and space colorimetric 420.   You can check the presets under the video tab - if you have a 50 mbit preset selected, the video codec should list something like "XDCAM HD 50 NTSC (4:2:2)".

Although Adobe indicates that you install the application on the main drive, it is possible to change the destination of the installation of creative cloud app preferences. Please note that there will always be shared resources stored on your primary drive.  In addition, temporary files will be created on your main drive during the installation process. The Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application will remain on the default drive. If you have already installed the application, you must uninstall, change the destination drive, reboot the machine and then install the application.

  • Why my windows work space keep disappearing in Photoshop and Illustrator?

From a few months ago, all the windows of my workspace often disappear when I'm not working in Illustrator or Photoshop.  The only thing that remains on the screen is the actual canvas area, all elements of the Toolbox on the left, and all editing windows went right.

This happens when I switch between the application on my Mac using the command + Tab Windows.  This does not always happen, but it happens quite often. I spend a lot of time every day goes to the window-> workspace and choosing a new workspace setting so that my windows will appear again.

This happens in Photoshop and Illustrator.

I use the latest update of OS X Lion, more recent versions of Illustrator and Photoshop to CS 5.5.

I searched the forum and the web, but find no indication on this... anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you!

"TAB" is the keyboard shortcut to hide all panels where may be when you press the "command-TAB", without knowing you press the TAB key first that hide all the workspace

  • Why are different colors Photoshop and Illustrator kuler?

When I color in kuler, I get the RGB and CMYK numbers for them.

When I enter the RGB in Photoshop, I get different CMYK values.

When I enter the CMYK in Illustrator, I get different values of RBG.

    Which I believe?

I guess it must be something to do with color profiles. Can someone advise please?

    Thank you

P.S. I asked this before in the kuler forum but this forum is very quiet .

The numbers are specific to the color space. If working spaces/document profiles are different, you will get different numbers for the same color.

In addition, a color may be out of gamut in a particular color space and cannot be reproduced here, so it is cut to the closest reproducible color.

  • Lightroom, Nik plugins and color spaces

I'm having a problem and do not know who is holding the smoking gun.  I have the ultimate collection of Nik installed covering Lightroom and Photoshop CS5 extended. I mainly work in Lightroom and apply to most of the corrections in the world, but sometimes I need to make localized settings, the picture gets boarded to Photoshop.  Here's a typical scenario:

    (1) from Lightroom edit in Dfine 2.0 for the noise - like copy with Lightroom adjustments that is copied to the tiff format.

    (2) to Lightroom edit Viveza 2 - under the original name since we are now working with a tiff file and I don't want a copy for each thing I do.

    3) edit in Photoshop

Now there are two questions at this stage:

    (1) the changes appear not in the history of Lightroom - it's as if nothing happened.

    (2) Photoshop will complain that the assigned profile is sRGB.  Really?

#1 is a PITA because if I go back I have to start all over again because there is no history - which is exactly responbsible to set a tool for editing as history?  Lightroom or the plugin?

#2 is by far the most serious because it degrades the work in a manner seriously bad.  I mean, WTH - I'm moving along in the ProPhoto NET space and all of a sudden - * boom *-I'm running moped sRGB mode.

I looked at the edit-> Preferences-> editing external-> additional External Editor and indeed the default for plugins when I select the Nik plugins in combo box preferences is sRGB.  I can change the ProPhoto and leave.  I repeated for each plugin, assuming that somewhere the setting has been selected.  Nope LR silent acts as a rock and watch sRGB as the default values for all except the currently selected plugin.

    So my questions are:

-who's going to own up to the problem - LR or Nik?

-How can I work around it?

-How can I make LR remember the settings?  Not a key of registry or INI file in order to set them - so where and how the plugins are followed?

    Thanks for any help!

    Jon

    Jon,

The User Interface for the evolution of publishers how external are called is about as smart as your average piece of granite.

After you change the color space to the one you want, you must click on the preset box and choose "Save current settings as new preset...". ». Not really intuitive, but you're there.
