  This problem may occur if the Windows startup files are damaged or missing.

  If your computer has integrated system recovery options, you can try to perform the Startup Repair and check if it helps.

  Please help me? !!!  I think I accidentally deleted a driver needed to open downloaded files.  My laptop HP Pavilion 7000 has will not open any file that download.  I click on the hyperlink on the Web page that I want to download and the item is displayed to download and appears ("download completed").  It appears at the top of the download list.  When I click with the left button on the point and click Open or save the file, the mouse animated backgr appears momentarily and then nothing.  Nothing happens.  It won't show me page I want to see!  I tried all possible combinations.  Open the file with the software choice.  Sometimes it will open if I click Open with msworks but in gibberish.  Augh!  I've tried everything.  I closed my firewall thought that might block downloads.   It would be possible that the file is marked as a system folder (which is just a check box in properties such as the hidden check box). So in your folder options, uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files" and see if it will be visible.

  Or another thing to try: remonter back a level, hold down SHIFT while you right-click the complete file and choose "Open command window here", then type DIR to see if the file is listed.

  I see that you have some problems with the display tab in windows Explorer. I'll help you with this problem.

  1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

  2. what security software is installed on the computer?

  3. have you made changes on the computer recently?

  Method 1.

  Start the computer in safe mode and check if that helps.

  Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.
