• Changing Styles of characters in the CC library

  Hello

  My team at work use a shared library to ensure the coherence of our designs. We share colors, graphics and character styles. If our design standards change, we can easily right-click on a color or an image in the library and choose Edit to update this article and it will update automatically all the documents.

  The problem that we run is that it doesn't seem to be a way to change the Styles of characters in the library. We have tried to update the style in a document and pushed to the library with the same filename, hoping he would write the old style too, but it doesn't. We have two Styles of character with just different properties the same name. We must go through each document and manually apply the new character Style we think defeats the purpose of the library.

  Is there something we're doing wrong or is editing function simply not available for Styles of characters in the library? If the Edit option is not available, anyone found a work-around to change a character in the library for our documents Style automatically updated?

  The editing feature is not yet available for paragraph and character Styles. The styles are also unrelated to the styles in the document.

• Problem of Style window Win API WS_EX_NOACTIVATE

  Hello

  I have a requirement for an application that the window is not activated. That means that when you click on the window, it isn't flying goal away from the last window you were active. This normally is not really a problem. I use the window API SetWindowLongA function in User32.dll and pass WS_EX_NOACTIVATE and all other styles that I wish to pay at the same time. First, I tested in a Visual c# .NET form and everything worked fine. I then wore the same function calls through to LabVIEW (please see attached). For some reason, even though the following window styles are applied (if you have Spy ++ or WinID you can see for yourself):

  WS_BORDER
  WS_DLGFRAME
  WS_SYSMENU
  WS_THICKFRAME

  The WS_EX_NOACTIVATE style does not behave as it should when it is applied to a LVDCHILD (VI window).

  My attached VI apply the same styles to a generated form .NET LV. It behaves exactly as expected.

  Clearly, the code is correct, that I must just be missing something because of how LabVIEW creates its windows?

  Please if someone could give advice on how to achieve the desired no window can be activated in LabVIEW there would be greatly appreciated.

  I have trouble getting the paragraph styles feature to work correctly in Photoshop CC 2015. I created a style of paragraph called 'p' and taking into account these values:

  

  Note that 18px is the size of the text.

  When I select a text element and change to this style of 'p' is not is not updated even though it says the paragraph style has so no substitutions. As you can see the text isn't 18px, although the paragraph on the right shows style now overrides

• Photoshop supports unicode characters? (Windows)

  I'm trying to type Tamil text in Photoshop CS3. I typed the Tamil text using Google Transliteration (http://www.google.com/transliterate/indic/Tamil) and then pasted into Photoshop, but it does not work. As Google Transliteration uses Unicode, it must work in photoshop as well (if Photoshop supports Unicode).

  If photoshop does not support Unicode, how can I type the Tamil text in photoshop?

  I don't think that its PS so that the police that you are using. If the police does not have the Tamil characters in it, it can support its representation.

  If you have a Tamil font, I can't enter the Unicode number directly (at the level of the cursor) will work.

  In ASCII, you can enter the ASCII number by pressing and holding the key alt key while tapping the 3 digit (000-255 numbers) code on the numberic keyboard and if the police supports the entered number (not all fonts support the ASCII range) the character appears at the location of the cursor. If you have a Tamil font and a map to ASCII inside try to enter codes as described above.

  How do you type in a Unicode without going through your keyboard mapped to the specific language and fonts to go with it, I don't know.

  If you get the Tamil characters you want Google, then copy the screen to the Clipboard by pressing print open a new document and paste there the Clipboard, then cut and paste to get the message in the format you need.

• How to use styles to characters in find/replace JavaScripts?

  First of all, good luck to Ole. It has been so useful (and a good writer, too). All the best!

  My JavaScripts find/replace run trouble in line 159 of the ExtendScript Toolkit. The script is looking for a particular font, it is expected to then apply a character style. I use the format that I see in the example text 'FindChangeList' to Adobe, but the script is always hit a wall. What I am doing wrong? I wish I had a working method for research, not only for fonts, but also to find a paragraph or character style and apply a new style.

  Simple stuff, but I'm roadblocked.

  Here's the script until now:

  This not is not valid JavaScript, it looks like it was copied from a script AppleScript but not changed properly. Keys property for options must not contain spaces, they must be written:

• Field of style in the character Palette

  Some families of fonts appear when you use the character palette with an arrow that shows the styles in this family. Some families have individually, that is "BOLD", black, light, etc. This tends to make the greater list of time it must be. Can someone explain why this is?

  I think that most well-designed policies have associations of files that the link between the different styles of characters of the same type as those that I show below:

  

  If they don't, it's because the designers of typefaces or fonts foundary did not create these associations. All InDesign can do is display the fonts they have been created.

• Paragraph styles does not work in ID CS6

  I created a newsletter in InDesign CS6. I used the ballot before but now when I try to assign the style for the text is not working.

  For example, I have a normal defined as Calibri, regular, 10pt, but when I paste my text from Word into a text box and select the paragraph style Normal text comes in Adobe Garamond Pro, pt 100. All the styles I try are the default for this setting. I tried to paste history in Notepad first to remove all formatting from Word and then copied in InDesign with the same result.

• Impossible to format document with several paragraph styles and notes

  I'm working on a document where I have several text boxes on the same page. The text boxes reflect implemented different paragraph styles so that they will autopopulate in my table of contents. However, I need to add notes to this document. I find that the notes are at the end of the text box to which they apply to, and if I had to put a note in two different text boxes on the same page, both start at 1.

  Is it possible to manage notes in several text boxes? Or, if not, is it possible that I can attach my table of contents for the styles of characters instead of paragraph styles?

  Looking at your screen shot in post #2, I see no reason to require individual images. You can manage every bit of this formatting in a unique setting using the styles section to control alignment, and dashes.

  MS Word has a cool feature which is the following paragraph Style. I'm looking for an equivalent feature in Indesign CC 2015, but it seems that it does not exist. If someone could confirm this? If so, has anyone at - he found an alternative route to overcome this big miss Adobe?

  It does not exist. and it's in the paragraph style palette.

• Why apply a paragraph style let substitutions sometimes? How to prevent this?

  Sometimes when I apply a paragraph of a text style he chooses replace some attributes, making me have click on the button "ignore substitutions" constantly.   If you want to remove manual replacements you must hold down the ALT key when you apply the style.

  And for the local formatting, you must use character styles.

  Thank you for sending the files. One of the files does not contain any character or paragraph Styles. In the other, I see the character styles named as paragraph styles. All indications from within the file are that they were created as character styles. The file format includes indications of the type of the style as well on everything that they are applied and in the list displayed in the palette. All of these styles are indicated by styles of characters in both places. The attributes that are in the styles are limited to what is allowed in a character style.

  In some places where the styles are applied, they are applied to the blocks of text or widget and replacements parts for paragraph-level attributes (i.e. h1 tag, space before and after, etc.). This leads me to suspect that they have can be created from blocks of text pointer tool selections (or other elements of text in widgets) and it was perhaps accidental that they have created using character Styles where paragraph Styles Panel rather than the Panel?

• Style zoom "encompassing"?

  I noticed that with the Illustrator CC2015 zoom update now works similarly to how it works in Photoshop, that is to say that when you click on, and then zooms focusing on a central anchor point. In CC2014 (and I am sure that everything that precedes it) you used to be able to drag a bounding box that would fill the screen when you have released the mouse. Is there a sort of preference can I put in to get this feature? Zoom in Photoshop style always has me stuck as remarkably imprecise.

  Go to preferences > GPU and uncheck the zoom animation.
