Photosmart 7960 print really really slowly

Win XP Pro

1 page takes about 15-30 minutes to print.  I reinstalled all the HP software and installed XP SP3 without result.  I'm about to wipe the HARD drive and reinstall Windows, but I thought that I would try here first.  Any suggestions?

  • I'm trying to locate an HP Photosmart 7960 printer installation disc. Any ideas how to do?

    Two questions...

I have a HP Photosmart 7960 printer and we have a new computer. We cannot find the installation disc. I called HP and after about 2 hours of 'help' said they cannot support the printer more - it's too old. No download online from HP worked.

I have TONS of ink for this printer...

The ink cartridges are 56, 57, 58 and 59. If I can't find an installation disc, it may be interesting to my buying a printer that uses these cartridges. How would you like to know which printers are available that use these cartridges?

  • driver disk software hp photosmart 7960

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and HP does not have a complete driver for my Photosmart 7960 printer support. I can't find that my driver installation disk of anywhere and I need to get all the features (printing without margins, maintenance, etc.) installed. Anyone know where I can get one? Thank you!

Looking at the pages in the car it appears HP decided to not fully support even Vista on this printer, not to mention Windows 7. They have even a program uninstaller to remove the software if the user upgraded from XP to Vista because the old XP software does not work on Vista. I'm sorry, but you may be out of luck if you want anything else than to the basic print functions.

  • Photosmart 7960 installed via the USB port on the PC under Win XP Pro acting as a print server

I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, which acts as the home network file and print server.   The Photosmart 7960 is connected to this computer via a USB cable and configured to be "shared".   When I go to "Add a printer" on another PC, in Windows 7, which is also part of the same network, I can navigate to the 7960 correct, but the installation wizard is unable to find the driver for Win 7.  I still have what in the HP see basic documents that tells me how to add this shared printer on my Win 7 PC.  Looking at the support page drivers I saw that Windows 7 already has the driver.  True, but the only way, it seems that I can get to it is to connect the printer directly to Win 7 PC via a USB cable.   Any suggestions?

Apparently, the solution is as follows.  First connect the photosmart 7960 directly to the PC running Windows 7 via USB cable network.  It will be auto-install drivers.  Reconnect the printer to the PC under XP pro server.   From the PC running Windows 7 where you have installed the printer via USB, you can go ahead and remove the photosmart 7960 from the list of printers; This will not remove the just downloaded drivers.  Next, select Add a printer, and then select 'Add a local printer' (no network).  Select 'Create New Port' and click Next.  In the next dialog box, type the name of the host server and the name of the printer.  In my case, it's \\mainserver\HP photosmart 7960. Click Next.   In the "Install the printer driver" dialog, click "Hewlett Packard" and find the 7960 in the printer list and click Next.  I was able to successfully install the printer this way.

    Hello

Wep passphrase is the security of your wireless network, so I can't tell you what it is. However check bottum of your router/modem, most of the time people do not know their code they use standard code that is supplied with the router, and the code is on the bottum router ussualt.

  • Wireless laptop cannot connect to Photosmart C5180 printer on network

I recently got a new computer, which is the main connection to our home network.  We have a laptop and a Photosmart C5180 printer.  I can't get the wireless laptop to connect to the printer, even though I have the shared printer on the pc.  I have the printer connected to the pc via a USB cable.

I see the printer shared and available on the laptop, but get the error message when you try to print.

Does anyone know what I'm missing that will allow me to print from wireless laptop?  It worked until I'm the new pc, so I know I'm missing something.  Should the laptop have both installed printer software/drivers?

Yes, the printer directly connected to a router with an Ethernet cable will be the simplest solution.

Yes, all computers will be able to access the printer on the network as long as they are connected to the same router (Ethernet or wireless, regardless).

He shared from the computer and the printer connected to a computer with a USB cable are not a real printer on a network.  This creates what is essentially a print server and the computer with the USB connection manages the interaction of this printer with all the devices on the network.

A USB connected printer sharing can be done, but it's a lot more work that the printer is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.

It's really a lot more work to set up the printer with a printer shared over a network connection USB method true when it comes to do this with Windows 7.

Windows XP made it incredibly simple, but he was not very secure on a network.  With Windows XP, all you had to do was to share the printer, and then install it on another computer.

With Windows 7 on both computers, you must configure a homegroup, enable file sharing and printers (disabled by default), share the printer and install the printer on the computer client / remote.  In addition, this method will require the host to be on anytime for remote printing machines.

The printer is connected to the router with a Ethernet means that the functionality of the printer depends solely on the router being on (most are on 24/7).  Computers will print regardless of the other computer either on or off.  There should be a shorter time in the impression that a computer is responsible for printing rather than two computers.

Again, I will be more than happy to help you set up with the method USB shared with two Windows 7 computers if that's what you want.  You find that it is much easier to use the Ethernet connected method to be simpler and more efficient to print well.

If you want, here's a little more information from Microsoft on sharing a printer between two units of Windows 7.

    Setting up a homegroup

Activate the file & printer sharingand sharing the printer on a Windows 7 computer

As long as the printer & file sharing is enabled and two Windows 7 computers are in the same group of residential, you should be able to use the USB share method.  Without these two two options being Setup, it simply does not work with two Windows 7 systems.

  • HP Photosmart C7180 printer, print too slow

HP Photosmart C7180 prints too slowly

    Hi Buck,

Thank you for the information. I want to clarify a few steps to see if we can rule out some possibilities.

    1. When you use the separate scanner, is also connected USB?

    2. If you disconnect the other scanner, turn off of the other scanner. The same thing happens?

    3. once the C7180 print slowly, what happens if you print the self-test and then make a copy of it? How long does it take?

    4. is the impression that is plugged into a wall outlet or a surge protector?

    5. If you have another USB cable, have you tried plugging in the printer with this cable? If so, do you still feel the same problem?

    6. What is the brand of the other scanner?

    Looking forward to your answers.

  • Photosmart 7960 + Win7 (ultimate 64-bit)

    Hello

I have Photosmart 7960 connectd to a print server in my network. HP has not (yet?) Win7 drivers for it, but the download page of the pilot says "a full set of features of software and the driver for Windows 7 is not available for your product. However, the Windows 7 operating system that is installed on your computer contains a solution to your product base driver. »

I tried to install a network printer, and since the drivers of ofer canoe of print server, I tried to manually select the correct driver. However, I wasn't able to find the driver for photosmart 7960 series.

Where can I find the driver for Photosmart 7960 for Win7 (ultimate 64-bit)? Vista 64-bit driver is available, then, what is the problem, why HP does not have native drivers in Win7?

    -Paavo

Install the driver Vista 64 site Internet HP here.  After that the message the drivers have been installed and say connect you can cancel.  The drivers will then be available in respect of Hewlett-Packard as shown below.

  • Not compatible HP Photosmart C4480 printer ink cartridge

HI - first time here - I have a HP Photosmart C4480 printer and have recently installed a new black ink cartridge - genuine HP 350XL - bought in Tesco and already used a few times.  I printed a page today, and when I went to another printing, the printer says that the cartridge was incompatible.  I had not touched the printer between the prints. I tried out both cartridges and resettlement but still get the same message.  Also tried to turn again printer.

I could understand if there was a problem with the cartridge and it was rejected as soon as I installed, but does not understand why this happens between the printing of pages.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

Here a link to a document that addresses this cartridge error message that you get on the printer. It will give you troubleshooting to try in an effort to solve this problem with the printer. I hope this helps. If you reach the end of the document and have done all the solutions proposed by the document, would seek to substitute.
