physical switch not able to ping VM

Hi all

I am very new to vmware so maybe silly question.

I installed esxi 4.0 on one host that has 2 network cards. In that I have created two vSwitch, one for the service console and the other for the production network. Each vswitch has a connected physical network adapter.

I packed three virtual computers, and it is connected to vswitch1 under the same group of ports with VLAN ID 100. I have set up the physical switch port which is connected to esxi host vswitch1 as a trunk port.

My problem is I'm not able to ping of physical switch to virtual machines, but I can't do a ping of VMS to physical switch. also, I'm not able to ping each other vm.

Thanks in advance.

  • Not able to ping VM1 VM2 to

    Hi team,

I installed VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 baptized as OracleVM1-H (HostName). Later, I cloned it, named as OracleVM2-H (host name).

Using the IP address I can ping each other. (OracleVM1-H OracleVM2-H to OracleVM1H and OracleVM2H)

By using the host name I'm not able to ping it.

Please find the attachment for ifconfig, / etc/hosts O/P.

    Thanks in advance.

    NGO

OK sorry I didn't see it, your/etc/hosts has no host name you're trying to solve.

So in the hosts on OracleVM1-h file, you need to add this:

    192.168.12.3 OracleVM2-h

And the hosts on OracleVM2-h file to add:

    192.168.12.2 OracleVM1-h

    Then, restart your network services.

    Kind regards

    Julien.

  • Not able to ping inside the interface from outside

    Hello

I'm trying to stimulate a new network like the diagram of the topology below:

    Topology

    However, I have a problem:

    ASA:

    I can ping to:

    192.168.200.1 (Site_RTR IP, int fa0/1)

192.168.200.2 (ASA vlan interface IP, outside interface)

    10.133.95.12 (DC_RTR, int fa0/1)

10.133.200.1 (ASA vlan interface IP, inside the interface)

    10.133.200.23 (machine)

The RTR website, I can do a ping to:

    10.133.95.12

    192.168.200.1

    192.168.200.2

    10.133.200.23 (machine)

    but not

10.133.200.1 (ASA vlan interface IP, inside the interface)

    Question 1:

It is possible to access / ping back to this address within the IP Interface from outside?

    Question 2:

As all subnets 10.0.0.0/8 will go through the interface on the outside, however for the internet traffic, out thru interfacera outside 2.

I haven't set up any nat, is correct to nat all out for outside2?

NAT (inside outside2) source Dynamics one interface

    Configuration

    Thanks for the help.

    JJ

    Hi JJ,

If you plan doing a ping within the IP address of the interface, while the traffic is coming from any interface other than inside, you won't able to ping inside the IP address of the interface.

This is by design, and you cannot change it by any ACL or other settings.

    Thank you

  • RVL200 ssl vpn, I'm not able to access resources network or ping of the Home Office

I had installed a Linksys router using port forwarding to allow remote access to the server desktop remotely. I had some problems with it and I've always wanted a vpn connection to the office, but I could not ' operate. So I bought the RVL200 after that I read on it and ssl vpn.

I have the router installed right after the modem cable to the office. I'm able to hit the external ip address of the House. I have the router to access the Server Active directory for connections. The connection works fine, all the different active directory accounts have access to the vpn through this. I am also able to make administration of the router remotely. I am able to connect to the vpn and get connected virtual passage. The icon in the systray says that everything is good. With all this, I'm not able to ping every address on the remote network. I can't reach all the network resources as \\pdrserver\irms or my print server ip address. I can't use network XP Favorites to find anything on the remote network.

Someone has an idea what I am doing wrong? I appreciate the help.

I thought about it. I was using the same IP for the home and office. It was confusing. I changed my IP to another system. Home office and now 12.4.4.X now 11.4.4.X. After that, everything worked as it should. Readers without mapped problem, ping remote computers. I could access the remote print servers. Works well. So make sure that you do not use the same IP addresses on both sides of the VPN.

  • I am not able to change my Ip address in ESX 5.0

    I have the team

I installed esxi5.0 in vmware workstation.

I added 5 nic cards to my esx server, I chose the specific virtual networks custom.

I kept 4 nic in vmnet2 (host only) which is 192.168.1.1. network - used for network management/vmotion/virtual metion

I kept remaining nic in vmnet1 (host only) which is 10.1.0.1 network - used for ISCSI san.

I was practicalls on my Dvswitch.

I created a DVswithc and I tried to migrate my standerd switch to DVswith. all of a sudden my network management down I rebooted the server, once he came themanagment ip address has changed to 10.1.0.0 netwok and uplink also changed network adapter that is connected to the 10.1.0.0 network (vmnet1 - host-only)

I tried manually change Ip address 192.168.1.15 and uplink to (vmnet2) but I'm not able to ping this ip address, and once rebooted the server he is again 10.1.0.0 network.

Could you please help me change the IP again to 192.168.1.1 network

check you just cross the port of the network card that you used when installing ESX.

You can check your port nic "configure management network > network adapters ' location, check this same network adapter that is used when installing ESX.

If you still facing the same issue only connect a single ethernet port and install ESX and set the static IP address.

attached to the VI that I use.

    Megane,

What topology are you using?  Looks like you are using 4 x 128 matrix (1 wire)?

To confirm, it seems that you connect all the reasons on the ground of the anemometer.  Then you connect the cable Signal to switch columns (columns 0 - N) and the Signal of the anemometer to the line (assuming that line 0). If this is the case, then it is logical, the next connect each column (C0) 0 (r0) one line at a time! (ex: c0-> r0 ;))  One thing to note, is that in your program, there is nothing that breaks the connections that have been made before making the next connection, this means that you make the connections and leave them connected.  Therefore, it is very possible that you have more than one column connected to a line.  I suggest that you use the Channel.vi niSwitch disconnect or niSwitchDisconnect all Channels.Vi to break the connections that have been made before making new connection.

Have you tried to make connections in the Soft Front Panel switch.  This is a nice user interface that will allow you to make connections by clicking and seeing a pattern of connections and connection points.  I suggest that if you have not done aleready to check that everything works with the Soft Front Panel switch.  (Start > all programs > National Instruments > NOR-SWITCH > NI - SWITCH SOFT FRONT PANEL).  There is a very useful document for all the switches and the front switch, which can be found here that I think really help you start: (Start > all programs > National Instruments > NOR-SWITCH > Documentatio > help OR-SWITCH)

    I hope this helps!

  • Aggregation of links ESXi requires the configuration of the physical switch?

    Hello

I have two physical servers that I'll put up with ESXi. Each server has eight physical network cards. My plan is on each server to use:
    -2 management - connected to vSwitch0
    -2 for VMotion - connected to vSwitch1
    -2 for iSCSI - connected to vSwitch2 (I'll use a SAN)
-2 to access VM network - connected to vSwitch3

For each pair, a cable should be connected to switch1 and the second would be plugged into switch2.

The switches are HP A5120 which are stacked into a big switch with RFID. for example I have a 'big' switch which, if one of the two physical switches dies or is turned off, would cause the 'great' switch to lose half of its ports. In this way, all four networks are expected to continue to operate even if a switch "dies."

All the information I found online said that ESXi can have two physical cards attached to a unique vSwitch and can then do things smart for redundancy (in which case a physical NETWORK card dies) and load balanacing.

However, while all the guides tell me how to configure it on ESXi, I'm still not sure if I should combine the two cables on the physical switches.

    So, my questions are:

    (1) in order to get the NIC or balancing working in ESXi, redundancy do I have to combine two physical ports that will connect connect two physical ports that connect to the vSwitch?

    (2) with the consolidation of NETWORK cards, I see how to have an active adapter for the management network, and an auxiliary card works fine, but for the iSCSI network, I wouldn't have only two active adapters for double the bandwidth?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    (1) in order to get the NIC or balancing working in ESXi, redundancy do I have to combine two physical ports that will connect connect two physical ports that connect to the vSwitch?

No, there is no need to configure etherchannel/LACP but this will depend on the type of load balancing, you click on the ESXi host - if you use by default, you don't need to configure Etehrchannel/LACP since traffic for each virtual network interface will be only com ove a single physical port, but you will always have the reiciliency to the case where if one of the physical NIC fails traffic then released the remaining port

If you select the hash of the IP load balancing, you must then implement Etherchannel/LACP on your physical switch since traffice can come form any physical port in the team.

    (2) with the consolidation of NETWORK cards, I see how to have an active adapter for the management network, and an auxiliary card works fine, but for the iSCSI network, I wouldn't have only two active adapters for double the bandwidth?

Onece well once again it will depend on the Load Balancing method, you select, but you will never be able to create links physical ports to get all of the 2 GB =

You have only one physical processor that implements revision VT VMCS a 7 and another that implements revision VMCS VT 11.  These processors are not compatible for execution of VT.  One processor is family 6 model 15 stepping 7 and the other family 6 model 15 stepping 11.  Intel has released a firmware fix that resolves this problem for the processors that differ only by deepening.  You should check to see if there is an update of the firmware from Apple that contains this fix firmware.
