  • 10 Windows Update has failed, restored for Windows 7 - cannot open existing files

Oh boy, am I ever stressed.

My update of Windows 10 failed today (error: failure of page in nonpaged area).  I will have that later - my immediate problem is that when the update failed and stopped, it is automatically reduced to Windows 7 and all of a sudden I can't get all my Word or Excel files.

More specifically: I can't open my files in Word or Excel, except those saved on the desktop.  Desktop files open fine, but whatever it is saved in a folder or other location does not open.   Other types of file open: photos, Photoshop, PDF, apparently everything opens without a problem.  For Microsoft Office files, I get the following messages:

    For Excel:

Excel cannot access "File Name.xls". the document may be read-only or encrypted.

    and

"File Name.xls" are not accessible. The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding or read-only.

    For Word:

Cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges

    Possible Note:

    1. I registered normally (as an administrator).

    2. when I right click on the file and look at the properties, everything seems normal (read-only is not checked, and the location of the file looks correct.

    3. I tried to pass a doc to a folder on my desktop.  It says that I have to give permission to the administrator.  I am able to click on the button 'continue' admin, the file is moved to the desktop, but still does not open.

Any advice would be welcome!  I'm not a computer expert, and I desperately need to access my documents.

So I clicked 'Add', typed the username- desktop\user name in the subject box, and then clicked on "Check names", then press the OK"" button.

    And now, the file opens.

I'm sure there's a better difficulty out there, I don't know what it is.  Whatever it is, I can access my files now.

You have made the right choice. It is essential that the specific user or group 'everyone' has full access to the file or folder. The alternative would be to use the console commands. They require a good knowledge of administrative tools.

  • I use Firefox and T bird. Firefox asks for a password at startup. If I cancel the prompt goes and Firefox works normally. Can I stop this?

I recently acquired a new PC. I installed Firefox and T bird as usual and mozill backup to transfer emails etc. from the old PC.
I use a master password in T-Bird, which works very well.
When I launch Firefox, I wonder a password. Masteer password does not work and cancel allows Firefox continue apparently normally. Efforts to define or change the master password in Firefox fail because the password is not recognized and leave the field blank, do not change the password.

    Rafael.

    It has been hacked.

    It is the SYSKEY password.

You should try to restore to an earlier date before you start.

Most of the time, they remove all restore date to prevent you from doing this.

If this is the case, then you will need to do a full system restore.

  • HP Pavilion 17-g053us: g053us hp format for windows 7

I'm debating buying a HP Pavilion g053us 17 loaded with Windows 10.   However, I do like NOT all spyware/privacy on Windows 10 issues, and until Microsoft fixes them I can stay with my laptop Windows 7 older HP's existing.   Microsoft will give me a free upgrade of Windows 10 until July 29, 2016, so I have a lot of time to decide...

My question is since I have a Windows 7 Ultimate installation disk, this PC can be formatted and equipped with Windows 7 Ultimate?  A shop selling the 17-g053us did not understand what I have spoke and could not tell me if there is a drivers/recovery disk included in the box with the new PC!   Another Member of the staff of store insisted it could not be done period.

SO: If I own a Windows 7 installation disc, CAN the HP Pavilion 17 - g053us be restored for Windows 7 Ultimate?   Windows 7 GENERALLY find all need drivers on a REINSTALL... but if not, are Windows 7 compatible drivers available or in the box of the new laptop (including drivers... recovery disks)  or online at HP? Thanks for any help.

For Windows 10 data collection, you can manually, turn off a lot of that through settings.

But, if you want to really turn everything off, then watching in a freeware product called to destroy Windows 10 spying.  I installed it on my system Win10 and this one really turn off all the monitoring and telemetry.  You can find regularly posted on this Web site: MajorGeeks.com - download of Freeware and Shareware computer utilities.

As for questions of Win7, this laptop comes with installed Win7, if HP carries drivers Win7.  See the link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/7771368/model/8429740#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1

Note: IF this link does not display a Win7 for you, then click on EDIT and select Windows 7.

You can certainly to reformat the hard drive and install any Win7 for which you have the DVD installation and license - including Ultimate.  There is no driver or the recovery disk came with the laptop, you can get by contacting HP customer service.

  • After running System Restore my computer asks for a password when connecting and I don't remember the password.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Toshiba Satellite L305.  I ran the system restore due to a problem of "Internet Explorer cannot display the website" (by Microsoft troubleshooting guide for this problem) and selected restore point earlier.  Now the computer asks for a password that I don't remember.  I tried all the possible passwords I can think.   There is only a single user account on this computer.  The administrator account should be disabled, it is not an option when connecting safe mode.  I don't have a system repair disc set.   Is it possible to run the system back restore to select a more recent restore point which does not require a password?  Or y at - it another way to connect to the computer?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/undo-system-restore

If you tried to use the system restore to solve a problem, but the problem remained or other problems were introduced, you can undo the restore operation. After you cancel the system restore, you can try using a different restore point.

  • When you try to restore my iPod nano 7th generation what it asks for a password how to find / get around it?

MY 7th generation nano has his music to wipe and start again.  I tried to restore it in the air several times because it won't let me not in reason to ask for a password to allow this. the password is not my iTunes password. can anyone help? I use an iMac.

Once the iPod appears in iTunes, it shouldn't be a problem with a password for an iPod nano 7th generation.  If you see a window pop up asking for a password, I think that it is a request for authorization from the Mac OS.  It is not directly related to the iPod or iTunes.  He asks your password for the account of the user admin (for Mac), as when you install the new software.

  • Updates for Windows 7 cause PC to hang during the startup or reboot

I had trouble with the latest updates for Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer.  Whenever I have install the PC does not restart.  I had to restore twice.  Updates are KB2284742, KB2388210 and KB2434419.  I had Avast on my computer and now deleted and installed McAfee.  I also tried Lavasoft Ad-aware, but he's also gone now.  Prior to the first installation of this update, he's failed several times.  Finally, I followed someone's suggestion to rename catroot2 to catroot3.  This allowed the installation works.  I scanned for virus and McAfee says that there is not.  Lavasoft had said there was an and it has been deleted, but since I restored it twice, I'm not sure if it's still there.  I'm reluctant to try to load Lavasoft once again, like the elimination of the virus is what started the problem of PC with reset.  I suspect that what they thought was that a "virus" was not.  Now that I am restored to before the update my PC very well is rinning, but of course, I keep getting reminded that I have 3 critical updates to run.  I am not advanced a user so am at a loss, can I ignore updates and try to continue to work without them?

    Hello

You can try to manually install the update one and check what is happening. Download the updates from the link given below using the KB numbers.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

Note: Before installing each of the updates, configure the computer to clean start so that none of the third-party application interferes with the installation process.
