Ping hostname comments resolves to wrong IP

This is the configuration:

Host: Windows XP sp2 (host name: hostWinXP IP: 192.168.195.1 on VMnet8)

Network: Domain (we'll call it "cat.com") (172.x.x.x) Note: I'm not the administrator of the domain cat.com.

VM #1: Windows Server 2003 (host name: vm2003 IP: 192.168.195.128)

VM #2: Windows Server 2008 (host name: vm2008 IP: 192.168.195.130)

The VM network: NAT (gateway: 192.168.195.2)

I use the virtual machine of 2003 for several years; I am newly install the virtual machine of 2008.

If I ping the 2003 VM, I get

Pinging vm2003 192.168.195.128 with ...

However, if I ping the 2008 VM, I get

Pinging vm2008.cat.com 192.168.195.1 with ...

I don't know why I'm the host of the IP address (XXX1), rather than the IP address comments (x.x.x.130), similar to what I get when the rattling of the virtual machine of 2003.

Thank you.

Your results show:

The server DNS on 172 has a record for W2K8 machine. Registered with an IP address off the coast of 192.168.195.1. I can't tell you why, but you must remove this record or if it has changed.

This DNS server has no record for the W2K3 prompt (assume that you used the correct field FULL name).

Scader wrote:

How a machine works virtual of W2K8 who have on a workgroup, domain, know how to tell the field of 172.x.x.x IP address DNS?

Because there is a small switch in the TCP/IP configuration that tells Windows to register with the DNS server or not. Who is not related to a membership of domain or workgroup, which is simply related to the configuration of TCP/IP.

    So what I'm missing here?

Hi Bruno, you can usually solve different subnet host name because the host does not know the subnet that treats it as a security measure.

Disable the firewall feature on your computers and which must fix, otherwise you will probably have to change the lmhost files.

    Thank you!

How you code the - VM on the Invoke-VMScript cmdlet parameter, it seems that Displayname of the guest is the same as the host name.

Can't you just use a loop on guests and then use the displayname property

    $script = "%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c c:\dr\drIPsettings.bat"
    $HostUser = "root"

       Invoke-VMScript -ScriptText $script -VM $_ -HostUser $HostUser -HostPassword $HostPassword -GuestUser $GuestUser -GuestPassword $GuestPassword -ScriptType $ScriptType
    }

You can encode the Get - VM with more specific selection criteria or use a Where-Object after the Get - VM.

  • Host Windows 7 - unable to Ping WinPE comments

I installed VMware Server 2 on 64-bit Windows 7 RC1.  I want to use WinPE to a predefined image to an XP machine on the guest virtual machine but it keeps failing.  It seems that comments from WinPE can contact servers and other physical computers on the network (for example, Ping) but these same servers etc could not contact the return in the same way.

I put the bridged networking and the guest operating system is picking up an IP address for the PXE boot and WinPE.  I uninstalled all the programs Microsoft Virtual PC as has been suggested in a post on this site.

Can anyone help at all?  I have searched through the forum, but could not find something that works so far.

    Thank you

Maybe firewall sounds associated with possibly on the host or the guest since WinPE has the default firewall.

There is a bug with importing Erwin. Comments of the column are not placed in the comments section of RDBMS, they are put in the regular comments section so when exporting to DDL, they do not put in the database. We want comments in the database and Erwin here as a section for comments. Anyone know a way around this? Or can it be fixed in the next version?

There is a transformation that can be used for this - look at "tools > design rules > Transformations"-he is named "copy comments on comments in RDBMS.

  • Has not invited ping

I am a total newbie to VMWare.  I installed VMWare Server 2 on a Windows XP host and configure a virtual machine with a virtual network of NAT.  I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my new virtual machine.  In the Ubuntu prompt, I can nslookup hostname of the host and get ip address.  I can ping the host by its ip address, but not hostname.  (This seems odd.  If nslookup can find the ip address of the host, why can't ping?)

The XP client, nslookup can't find an ip address for the host (raised by host name).  And I cannot ping by hostname prompt.   I don't know what ip address to use to try to ping the virtual computer.  I tried a few ip addresses that I found, especially in the "Virtual Network Editor", but none worked (such as ping destinations).

The first thing to do, I guess, is to make sure if ensure that the host cannot really ping guest - to make sure I have tries the right ip address right.  So where should I look for this?

If I try to the right ip address, then I guess I need some ideas as to why the host cannot see the comments.  I noticed that the /etc/inetd.conf file is 0 bytes long.  That looked like not promising, but I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If nslookup works, it shows that some DNS server (or the file/etc/hosts) could be contacted to get the name of intellectual property. The reason you can't ping name could be that nslookup has used another server which is configured in the TCP/IP settings DNS.

    The XP guest...

For the guest chef resolved name you need a DNS or "/ etc/hosts" or "\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" entry. Suppose you have one, that it will be something like "192.168.x.y", because the customer is using NAT, which means that the customer is part of a virtual network called VMnet8 with his own IP subnet range. The host must be able to ping the guest by this IP address as the host knows this network. Hosts on the physical network will not be able to ping that comments for this reason and because the guest is hidden behind a NAT device provided by VMware.

Have you tried to enter 'ifconfig - a' in the comments, get IP address and ping from the host?

-With the help of Vista SP2 64-bit on laptop faulty.

-Number of computers on the same network have access to the internet.

-Tried several network interfaces on this laptop, but no luck for access to the network, wired or wireless

    Thanks in advance

    Hey easternguy,.

Check if you can test the Web site by name.

    To do this:

    a. Click Start and type cmd.

    b. press ENTER.

    c. type the following command:

    ping hostname

Ping uses name resolution to resolve a computer by IP address name. Therefore, if you successfully ping the IP address but you cannot ping a computer name, there is a problem with host name resolution, and no network connectivity.

Case 1: If you can not ping the Web site using its address, follow these steps.

In this case, try changing your host file.

In the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc Hosts files may be damaged or corrupted.

Review the contents of your HOSTS file and compare it to the screenshot below. There is no need to worry about any line that starts with a # is ignored by Windows. In addition, the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" can be ignored without risk, because it is a standard input.

Everything that appears in your HOSTS file without a # earlier this year, aside from the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line, should be regarded with suspicion when we try to diagnose the cause of the problem. The fastest way to test the involvement of HOSTS file is to just rename the host file. By changing the name of the HOSTS file, prevent us Internet Explorer to use it and so all problems caused by the file.

    Case 2:

If you can ping external websites by IP address and name, but can't browse the web, probably your browser is misconfigured.

Check that you do not have an incorrect Proxy Server affected necessary or not.

For Internet Explorer, follow these steps.

    a. open Internet Explorer.

    b. go to Tools / Internet Options.

    c. click on the Connections tab.

    d. click the LAN Settings button.

"e. uncheck both" "automatically detect settings" and "use a proxy server for your LAN '.

    This should be it.

  • Can browse quote but cannot have their ping, apps can't access the internet

    Hello

I'll do my best to give a full description. I'm sorry if I include irrelevant information, but I don't want to leave anything out.

I tried to connect my Macbook Pro (with El Capitan installed) 2012 raspberry Pi 2 via ethernet and access it through a web browser. He has failed. It was my first time using an ethernet adapter to crush on my Macbook Pro. Since then, any application that accesses to the internet does not (for example, Appstore, steam, Spotify, Google Drive). Again, however, I can access websites through a web browser. Also, when I try to ping from a Web site via the terminal like Google, it says "ping: could not resolve google.com: Unknown host" even if I can access via a browser. I have tried to disable the firewall and have even reinstalled El Capitan. In addition, internet via the browser if possible access is slower then usual. I am at a complete loss and would appreciate greatly any help.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • BBM BBM change group Icon in BBM10.8.5.15

Is there a way to change the Group BBM icon after it's been created?

I'll assume that you are referring to the avatar of group that displays at the top left of the screen to group chat.

Yes.  There are several ways to do it, it's more easy for me.

Open the group or the group chat.  Tap the avatar - this brings you to the info of the group.  Tap the avatar again.  This brings you to a screen where you can select the default icons or click 'Add an image' on the bottom bar. This will bring you to the photos app where you can choose from one of your images as when you add a photo to a contact.

Note that if you are a group administrator, you will change the avatar for everyone in the group.  If you are not an administrator, you can always change the avatar, but the change will be visible only to you.

I found it very convenient when I am in two different groups with avatars that are too similar, and made a comment in the wrong group.  I changed the two (at my end) to be radically different.  No more problems.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

Sorry can't answer you earlier. I have soved the issue of the listener. In fact, there were two issues one of them was the problem of the LISTENER and the other was the following: -.

    SQL > startup

ORA-01078: failure in the treatment of system settings

LRM-00109: could not open the parameter file ' / u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/dbs/initorcl.ora'ORA-01078:

First of all, I solved the ORA-01078: LRM-00109: deliver and then I went to solve the problem of the LISTENER. Here is how I solved the problem LISTNER. It now displays the stable state. It does not change like the one I mentioned above: -.

    [grid@example ~] $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

    [grid@example ~] $ cd /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/network/admin/

    [grid@example admin] $ rm - rf *.ora

    NETCA $ [grid@example admin]

    Configure the listener again

Set up the Configuration of the Local Network Service name

    lsnrctl stop $ [grid@example admin]

    lsnrctl start $ [grid@example admin]

    [grid@example admin] $ lsnrctl reload

    RESTART THE PC

Connect as a user of network and wait a few minutes... And then check the status... Its not working now, and displays the output of status statble: -.
