PIX and ADSL router.

I have, in a site, a PIX 515 connected to a C827H (an ADSL router as PPPoE). This router provides access to the Net. In another site, I have another PIX (a 506) and another router C827H which gave access to the Net. Both sites have access to the net without problems. But when I have what it takes to establish a VPN (Ipsec) tunnel between the two sites, across the Net, I can t make the connection. The ADSL router has their public IP is negotiated with the provider. In my lab, I simulate this two connections put two PIX (a 520 and a 506) back to back with a crossover cable. I used the same configuration. The thing worked. But in my two sites that does not work. Why?

I see, in this case. I suggest that change you the name of the ACL defined in crypto card, try not to use the same ACL you used for nat0, it poses problems sometimes.

Try and see if it works for you.

I looked on the internet and that it points to a routing error when packets are being encrypted and decrypted, but you can't do a ping on the binding. However when I test the connection I did not enter any of the static routes that networks are connected directly on each side of the pix and the router. any help would be a preciated as I think there's maybe something is blocking the ping to reach the internal network at the end of pix with a configured access list.

is ping failure of the only thing between the site to site VPN? and assuming that all other traffic works fine since it decrypts and encrypts the packets.

If it's just ping, then activate pls what follows on the PIX:

If it is version 6.3 and below: fixup protocol icmp

If it is version 7.0 and higher: select "inspect icmp" under your political map of the world.

Config complete hand and on the other could help determine if it's a configuration problem or another problem.

    Hello

The easiest way is with a crossover cable - a special wire to connect the two systems.
You can get one at your local computer store - they are not expensive.

Also check with the site of the manufacturer of your router, because they will have in-depth details on how to
    set up the network.

  • PIX of routing and two router

My scenario is My PIX to 5 five interface. Interface E0 connect "Main router" Interface E1 connect "Partner router" Interface E3 connect 'Server Zone' Interface E4 connect 'Client area '.

My problem is 'Partner of router' care network 172.16.1.0/24 and they have used 10.0.1.0/24 service behind "Main router" and I configure default route of 'Router Partner' for PIX as same as "main router.

I have config road for PIX

    "" main route 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 main router ""

"partner of route 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.0 router partner."

I can do? PIX can route?

What you have listed above should be fine. The PIX you can route packets. However, the usual rules still apply to allow packets pass between 2 interfaces on the PIX. You should always create the xlates and access control so that the packets to pass. I hope this helps.

  • EA4500 + ADSL router: networking noob question

Then... I'm not sure of the right words to use, but this is the case I would appreciate the help. I tried to figure out how to survive myself, but I find it a little confusing - however, if you think I just need a networking 101 do not hesitate to send me to appropriate information sources (I've tried a few, as I say, but I have not yet found a place where my situation fits!).

Quick back story: I have a cheap TalkTalk ADSl router (D-Link 3680) where the Wireless does not properly in the House. So I just got a DSL EA4500 router for better strength/speed/compliance wireless - you'll just have to forgive me for not having an ADSL router, which I realize may have been a simpler solution!

First of all, I put the (D-Link of TalkTalk 3680) ADSL router in Bridge mode and got this and the EA4500 work together which was great as it goes. However, I would be hard...

I have a tower PC and wish to receive wired ethernet network. While I know in the set - up above I can run a cable from the 3680 to the EA4500 and then another cable to the PC because the PC is closer to the telephone (with the ADSL router) Jack, physically it seems wiser, if I take the PC of the 3680 ethernet connection (along with a second cable 3680 to EA4500 connection for the wireless). It may or may not be relevant that the 3680 is a Fast Ethernet output, as is the network PC card (i.e. are not Gigabit).

I don't know (a) whether the above configuration is possible and if yes, how, or (b) the question whether in terms of networking, it is best to cable to the EA4500 computer (even if this will create a longer path to the PC and the wiring more).

Meaning, and if yes maybe someone could give me also a term for what I'm doing?

    Help gratefully received! Garreth

3680 port LAN (bridge) => EA4500 Port WAN (router)-online PC peripherals and wireless

It's the best configuration and nothing should be connected to the 3680 other than the EA4500.

The physical location of the electronics is not important, unless you can not run cable or wireless signal is low.

  • PIX and ASA static, dynamic and RA VPN does not

    Hello

I am facing a very interesting problem between a PIX 515 and an ASA 5510.

The PIX is in HQ and has several dynamic VPN connections (around 130) and IPsec vpn remote works very well. I had to add a PIX to ASA L2L VPN static and it does not work as it is supposed to be. The ASA 5510, at the remote end, connects and rest for a small period of time, however, all other VPN connections stop working.

The most interesting thing is that ASA is associated with the dynamic map and not the static map that I created (check by sh crypto ipsec his counterpart x.x.x.x). However, if I make any changes in the ACL 'ACL-Remote' it affects the tunnel between the PIX and ASA.

    Someone saw something like that?

    Here is more detailed information:

    HQ - IOS 8.0 (3) - PIX 515

    ASA 5510 - IOS 7.2 (3) - remote provider

Several Huawei and Cisco routers dynamically connected via ADSL

    Several users remote access IPsec

A VPN site-to site static between PIX and ASA - does not.

Here is the config on the PIX:

    Marcelo Pinheiro

The problem is that the ASA has a crypto acl defined between host and network, while the remote end has to the network.

Make sure that the acl is reversed.

  • PIX and NAT - T

    Hi all

I have a small question. I have a couple of users who use routers to connect by VPN to our pix that authenticates by a RAY for L2TP connections. I enabled the NAT - T on our PIX and they may not always connect. Is there anything I might have missed. I checked most of the posts in this forum do not see anything else, I should have activated.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Michael

A tunnel of Lan-to-Lan of a router in a PIX does not NAT - T, unless there is NAT devices between two end points. If this is the case, you must ensure that both the software both from the end of rehbeh points devices support this capability. An example of a router to tunnel PIX IPSec configuration is available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a0080094498.shtml

Another example that deals with the same configuration with NAT is available at

  • PIX and non - IP traffic

I need to install a PIX 501 in a network. The internal interface is connected to my local network and that the external interface is connected to e0 interface of the router.

The LAN have LLC,(2) and IP traffic. Is possible to LLC,(2) traffic through the firewall without tunnel? Can I connected another interface on the router in the local network only to traffic ll2?

    Thank you

The PIX only manages the IP traffic, so unless tyou can encapsulate your traffic IP LLC, the PIX won't touch it. I guess you can bypass the PIX and connect a LLC,(2) interface that is only on the router in your home network, depends on how secure you want to be. Make sure that you do not configure an IP address on the router interface, otherwise you will run the risk of someone circumvent security of PIX.

  • I got a new modem and the router and now I can't print wireless.

I have a Photosmart 8450 printer.  My operating system is Windows7.  I tried to follow the Scan doctor, but I guess I'm not tech savy enough to understand.  It worked fine before the new modem and the router.  She is 'offline' and I can't understand how to put line.  Thanks for any help and easy enough for me to follow.

    Hello raedene715.

Thanks for the transcript, it was useful.

Please, check the network cables and connections (side of the printer and router). If possible, try a different network cable.

    See you soon!

  • I am unable to connect to my router wirelessly to parents. I tried to reset the modem and the router and it still does not work.

Presented labtop parents and can connect via ethernet, but still cannot connect to the wireless router. Ive rebooted both the modem and the router and ive also unplugged the power source. Help, please...

original title: unable to connect to the wireless router?

    Hi Brandon,.

What operating system do you use? (Windows 7, Vista, XP?)
You receive any type of error message when you try to connect?
What exactly happens when you try to connect?
You receive an internet connection when you connect with an Ethernet cable?
There are a few good troubleshooting in this thread. I suggest to look to see if it helps at all:
  • Network Magic and Cisco router EA4500 UID and password

I use the 5.5.9150.0 version of the free product. I had my last router, with a WRT400N. Since then, I have installed an EA4500 router to replace the WRT400N. I'm glad that Network Magic works with my new router, but I have a problem: I can't connect to my router via Netowrk Magic.

Protection status/Wireless / Wireless Protection settings brings up a window that asks you the router user name and the password. I went to the page "Setting Up: Basics" guide of the user EA4500 (page 13) and tried all the values that I had copied in when I installed the router.

I tried the SSID of the router and the "Linksys Smart Wi - Fi Username ' in the user ID box.

I tried the "Linksys Smart WIFI password", the network, the Guest network password password and the router password (same as the network password).

Nothing has worked. I've only connected to the EA4500 using the Linksys Smart WiFi, username and password, so I'm stuck trying to figure what values to use.

Please help me understand what I am doing wrong. Thank you!

    I stumbled in the response:

    1. start Network Magic and display the network map.

    2. click on the name of the router (just under the router icon).

    3. click on Set Up or manage the device.

    4. the Linksys WiFi Smart Sign In (to the router) window appears.

5 connect to the router by using the credentials of Smart Wi - Fi that you set up when you have installed the router.

Now, all router commands will work from within Network Magic.

    :+)

  • Problem with access to the camera on the net via dsl modem and linksys router

OK, I read all posts here on what to do in this case and think I have tried everything. I have an Actiontec dsl (verizon) and a v2 wrt110 router. I can see the camera locally, but not on the net. I had it hooked to another place but with cable service broadband with no problems.

I think that the problem of my lie with ip addresses.

    Camera 192.168.0.115

    Router 192.168.0.1

    Modem 192.168.1.1

The port forwards on the modem MUST be set to port forward to the IP Address of the Linksys router. It should be only the modem IP can see, so it's the only place you can move forward from the modem. What exactly is in this drop-down list in the config of the modem port forwarding?

The problem is that there are two distinct here networks once you are inside your modem. There is a network between the modem and the router. Allthat is on it is the modem's ethernet interface and the port of the Internet router (or WAN). There is another network on the side the router as your PC's LAN, camera, etc. are on. All know the modem is how to get to the network to which it is directly connected to. While you could add a route staic on the modem to tell him how to get to this network, the modem must still know I have oprt route traffic to your camera to the router.
