  • changing platform - pc to mac

Hi - I do not know when it would be better posted, but this seems the most likely place.

It's time for a new computer.

I use a PC for years - been happy enough with it, but I really hate the appearance of Windows 8 and don't want to buy a new computer to remove the o/s and downgrade it.

I plan to switch to Mac and you want to get some ideas as to whether it would be useful, is that the learning curve and what problems I might face.

I have been using a PC for about 15 years.

I am Member creative cloud. I use mostly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro but also the occasional Dreamweaver. I use Extensis Suitcase to manage my fonts. I also have the opportunity to prepare a document in Word for PC-based clients. I see mainly in English, but I also need occasional Hebrew and I use the Middle East editions of ID, PS and IT.

As far as I know, licensing wise, I can install my software on any platform - correct?

    My main concerns are:

    (1) will be transitions of file (opening indesign documents, reissue of links etc) be smooth, or I will face couplers?

    (2) I have to grief, from the fonts? (I use mostly open Type fonts and True Type, but some of them are quite old)

    (3) I'll be able to use the Hebrew on a Mac as easily on my PC (just need to change the language of the keyboard, then the correct settings in ID)

    (4) I have problems of migration small sites that I am managing? Dreamweaver seems to refer to the structure of local site and I hope that I can just reset it. As you can see that I do not have a lot of stuff, only tiny under duress!

I also have questions about Word and Excel, but as this is an Adobe Forum I can keep Adobe.

If anyone has comments on the subject if change is worth at all, please share!

    Thank you

    Ruth

    that, I don't know.

you will probably have a few headaches.

  • passage of PC platform to the MAC - no customer service platform

First of all, I would like to Preface that I called customer service twice and have received no help, as well as contradictory answers, both times.

I have the creative suite CS4 Web Premium for my PC. I bought it directly from Adobe, not a reseller - forked so on a large sum of money. The product of love - use almost every day.

I recently turned to a MAC ProBook. I'd love to test my software on my Mac. I call Adobe to see if I can upgrade to CS4 Web Premium creative suite for Mac.

    I get answers:

    You can only spend 5.5.

WHY? I just want to keep my 4.

    You can only spend 5.5.

OK, because you are not let keep me my license 4, then how much it will cost to get a MAC license?

Answer, I got the first time:

    You can upgrade for $399.

I'm NOT paying $400 just so that I can use my existing license on another platform!

Response, I had the second time after calling again just to be sure:

    You can upgrade for $695.

    WHAT? (* @^^ & #9 = !!!

    Hello

Luckistar, you can try the 5.5 for free for 30 days: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=web_premium

Representative of the customer service seems to be good, you can replace only the version that is currently sold: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405819.html

The upgrade to 5.5 is indeed $695 depending on this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/web/buying-guide-upgrades.html

Another solution: boot camp, which allows you to run Windows on a Mac. There are other programs that allow to run windows in a virtual machine.

Then I wait and try to upgrade to the next version of creative suite, when it will be released around April-May, according to what has been said in the past.

There is also a creative cloud option, which could be interesting if you wanted to rent Muse or Edge: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html

  • Change my Windows platform to the mac

Hello I have CS6 on Windows but have just myself treated to an iMac and would like to change my platform, I looked on the help of Adobe and they say that it is posible but. Need to contact Adobe and it will do the necessary. When I followed the link, it of say that Photoshop is not coverled through telephone support, can someone point me in the right direction to get to this sorting?

    Thanks Andrew

You can indeed make a swap of platform for CS6. Details on how to proceed are in this help document: a product of Adobe for another language or version of Exchange platform.

I note, by clicking the link "contact us" in this document that the telephone support option seems to be disabled. Traditionally, a hotline was available for account related issues, even for older software like CS6. By clicking around, it seems that the telephone link is cut across the Board, so maybe there's a problem? In any case, you should be able to work through the Exchange against a representative of the conversation. If you prefer to talk to someone on the phone, you can try the CS6 sales number, which is located on this page. Creative Cloud now includes Creative Suite Master Collection and features of Design Premium.

Let us know how it goes!

You should be able to download it from here: Download CS5.5 products

Please see the instructions to extract the files and install your product.

  • Is excessive heating while playing game macbook air damage it?

I installed Windows 10 on my macbook air (Early 2015). When I started playing big games like GTA on it, it will heat up very fast and fan starts at full speed. So it will be harmful to my macbook play in?

First, there is the thermal shutdown provisions that will stop the MBA before it can commit Hari Kari due to excessive heat.

If you have two sets of Macs, play games all the time one and the other just using 'normal', the Group of Mac game on the average of the tasks will fail sooner than the other.  This is because heat is the enemy of electronics.  How much is an open question.

If you want to play games do but try to do it in a cool and if possible, use a block of cooling or fan. But if the games are a top priority, get a PC designed for games.  Mac is not good gaming platforms.

    Ciao.

  • MacBook pro cannot play all the games.

MacBook pro cannot play any games.when I start the mac game close itself. If mac works perfectly.

  • What is the right way to this cross-platform application?

    Hey y ' All

I am a multimedia application with LV2010 and I am trying to do cross-platform (win and mac os x).

The I need the feature requires the use of system libraries, I have access to enough similar functions in the two operating systems

(winmm.dll in windows, coreMidi.framework in mac OS X)

With the exception of the current system of appeals on the screws will be identical.

I can do the work of VI in a platform by using the call library function node, but I don't want to have two copies of everything.

I tried to do sub wrapper VI that puts the call library function node in a case statement and detects the OS but this VI will not executable due to dependencies (will not find the library referenced in one of the cases depending on the operating system you are running)

Is there any way I can specify what Subvi to load on a project or something to get this issue sorted dependency?

You want to encapsulate the platform-specific code in a conditional structure disable with a condition for each supported platform.  The symbol of the OS is already defined; see Help for the creation of disable Conditional Structures, which lists the predefined symbols and values.

  • How 'old' games, files with the extension *.gam

How 'old' games, files with the extension *.gam?

I am trying to find and run style old text adventure games.  I downloaded "ccr.gam" but it has nothing related to this extension and I can't find what I need.  HELP please.

    Octavmandru

Depending on the platform, so that the game was up, there may be an available emulator that will allow you to run them. Looking for the name of the platform and "emulator" can give results. If they are DOS based games, DOSBox is an emulator like this.

  • Transfer from a Mac to a PC

I have Lr installed on a Mac from the United Kingdom and will move back to the United States where my PC. What procedure to follow so that I can load Lr on my PC without losing all my work or double billed.  Thank you.

It may depend on what version of Lightroom, it is.  If it's a creative cloud subscription then you can install it either on a Mac or Windows computer.

Download/install the desktop application, connect and install applications subscription.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/download-install-app.html

If it's 6 autonomous Lightroom then you will probably need to ask an Exchange platform.   A product of Adobe for another language or version of trading platform

If it's an older version serial number must be valid for Mac and Windows, so you just download/install the correct platform version.
