Please interpret my EtreCheck
Hello lovely people. My computer is very slow and my initial investigator led me to run EtreCheck. The results indicate a below average performance, but I confess that I do not really understand what is wrong, and most importantly, what I have to do! Help, please...

Results EtreCheck - MacBook Pro 13 "mid-2012
My computer has been rather slow (a lot of spinning color wheels) and recently overheated and whirred while closed in my bag back. I lived in the Middle East and North Africa for a while, which seems to add a bit of stress (temperature, electric conversions, etc.). Could someone please help me interpret these EtreCheck results and offer suggestions or solutions. I don't mean to put money in this computer, most seek to know what I can expect from what I have and whether or not it's time to buy a new one.
Thank you!

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is particularly bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Run the Console application in one of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).
☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages
in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select
List of newspapers seen ▹ display
in the menu at the top of the screen bar.
Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Highlight date back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered since then until the end of the episode, or until they begin to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy messages to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.
The journal contains a large amount of information, almost all this is useless to solve any particular problem. When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.
Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the journal excerpt, an error message may appear on the web page: "you include content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.
If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

Hello. First time poster. I use Mac Laptops since 2008 and have been super happy with them. Got my first office in April, but didn't really use it until about 2 months ago (perform a certain work of photoshop and illustrator). I was immediately surprised by the slow the iMac running right from the start. I kept hope he would run faster, but it didn't, and it's so frustrating. Basically, I get the color wheel when I'm trying to do. Almost every command takes much longer it would take on my laptop more old. I can't imagine that this is normal. I have applecare, but I didn't drag my 3 grandsons and the iMac to the store just to have to tell me, it's good. Following the suggestion of another post, I saw, I did etrecheck and he said that the performance was good (I did not understand the rest of the report). Any advice?
Hi tinyhouse, can you please share the EtreCheck report with us?

MacBook pro wakes up from his sleep since uptade
My macbook pro 15 inches from the end of 2010 will not wake up after sleep since I've updated to the latest el capitan 10.11.5 system.
The keyboard doesn't light to the top and rest of this way but the screen remains dark. Stop down and restarting is the only way.
In addition, since upgrading my trackpad get slow sometimes and a click solves it. but its weird!
any ideas? Thank you very much!!
Could you please post an Etrecheck report? It is a perfectly safe way to give an overview of your current system: http://etrecheck.com

MacBook Pro shut down unexpectedly
My Macbook Pro (with the retina, end 2013) stopped unexpectedly. Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. It's never happened before, but did it 3 times today already. Not on again unless I connect it to a power source even if it was 60-80% charged each time that its judgment down. It doesn't give me an error when I turn it back on, the only thing substantially different is that it defines my date and clock in one year. I made diagnostics, but it does not found error!
I would like more information: can put you a list of Etrecheck here please: download from etrecheck.com

Functions are for most of the functions not
I have an imac os x. First my menu bar disappears never to return. And now a lot of functions have simply stopped working. Cannot cut and paste - or drag and drop - and so on. This computer is ready for the junk heap?
It looks like a software problem.
If you start in safe mode, must always behave in this way?
http://support.Apple.com/kb/ht1564>
If it blows away, chances are that you have 3rd party software that interferes with the normal operation of your Mac.
Safe mode is just an experiment, because it also uses more cautious drivers and is not the way you want to run your Mac normally. But it's great to understand some 3rd party software is causing problems or causing a Mac to panic.
Please post the EtreCheck output, so that we can see 3 additions to part, you have installed.
https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-6174>
Of course if you are looking for an excuse to buy a new Mac, so do not let the forum in the way

Should I just get a new computer for repair?

Which does not resemble any panic report I've ever seen
Reports of kernel panic: "/ Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports".
http://support.Apple.com/kb/ht2546>
http://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT200553>
The panic report should have "panic" in the name of the file.
If you encounter a lot of panic, take the 2 or 3 most recent and post them as separate answers.
Have you installed the anti-virus packages. They are the number 1 software of panic cause.
Also, please post the EtreCheck output

Safe to upgrade to El Capitan Yosemite?
It's confusing. I read a lot of discussion. I guess I still need help from you guys.
Attached is my Etrecheck report. No alarming red in there. My question: is it safe to upgrade to El Capitan? I'll make a Time Machine backup first, of course. What is more important to do? Help, please.

First of all, remember that's where people go when they are in trouble. Problems so is all you will see here, even though the update was 99.99% bulletproof, you would see only people with problems here.
That said - anecdotal - it seems that there are a few key questions that keep popping up. Upgrade/validation of the library of e-mail seems to be one of them for a number of people, for example. John Gruber has even mentioned problems with the last update of El Cap for example (associated with mail again), and is not a common thing.
http://DARINGFIREBALL.NET/linked/2015/12/07/low-hanging-fruit
So, if I were to update today, I would like to, as you say, make absolutely sure that I backed up EVERYTHING, including all your .mbox mailboxes mailbox and your e-mail account configuration/login information. This way everything that happens that you have options.
Good luck!

Ask the operation slow with large SGA and fast with little CMS
Hello
We have a situation where one of the insert is running slow and fast QA in PROD. Both are the same versions of database - Oracle 10.2.0.4 on HP Unix 11.31. To avoid the cause of databases running on another server, we copied from our Production database to the same server where the QA database is running and began with init.ora PROD that has 7 GB 6 GB SGA_TARGET and SGA_MAX_SIZE. For the QA database, SGA_MAX_SIZE is 700 MB and SGA_TARGET is 600 MB. Both are running on the same server, and with the same data. We have refreshed QA with data from PROD. If we start with PROD init.ora QA database, QA also behaves the same way PROD.
This problem is only with the specific insert. Here is the result of this specific statement tkprof. Can someone please interpret this for me? I am poor in SQL tuning :-( Why the statement behaves ODD with the size of the SGA PROD? Generally, we would think THAT larger SGA should give better performance.

Enjoy your first answer on this.
Thank you and best regards,

Option 1:
You run with two different ORACLE_HOMEs - that is potentially two different copies of the Oracle executable to the patch different sets?
Option 2:
A change of size of SGA is unlikely to directly affect the execution plan, but it also has change the size of the PGA TOUR at the same time? A change in the pga_aggregate_target could affect the choice of the mechanism of the join optimizer. (But not to change an in a join; but hash semi-join to nested loop is possible).
Possibility 3:
The db_file_multiblock_read_count leaves then the size that oracle defines by default depends on the db_cache_size divided by process; so, if you have reduced the sga_target_size you (implicitly or explicitly, no doubt) reduced the db_cache_size, and if you don't reduce the process in the same way, then the default db_file_multiblock_read_count been reduced. What you did on your system stats, this could change the cost of (for example) full tablescans, which could lead to a change in execution plan.
It would be useful to see the results of a call to explain the plan / dbms_xplan.display in both cases so that we can see the variation in estimates of Oracle.

My system has been Beach balling excessively lately. I recently installed Norton AV, which may be the main issue. I ran EtreCheck, with the following result; someone knows how to interpret it, and I'd do anything other that uninstall Norton? Thank you.

Very slow Macbook Pro (2012), please help with report EtreCheck
Hi all
My Macbook runs very slowly, I tried a number of things suggested online but none worked. I recently went to a repair shop and they suggested it could be to do with the dataflex (not sure if this was exactly, but I remember it sounding similar.) They described as a hard drive to another internal component connection, sorry for the inaccuracy.) I have me am replaced, but this did not help either.
I downloaded the software EtreCheck and I was wondering if someone could help me to make light of the report on possible solutions? I have the feeling that it could be the hard drive needs to be replaced, but have no evidence of that. Verification has been run for the problem of "Beachballing" and got the sub report, please let me know if more info would be helpful. I hope it's telling in a way!
Thank you for the pointers.

Hello mrdivorce,
It looks like of course as evidence of a hard drive failing for me. Hard drives 2.5 "in the MacBook Pro tend to fail after 2-3 years. Judging by the date on your MacBook, I think that your time is up. Maybe try to find a different repair store. Looking for Service Center authorized Apple (https://locate.apple.com/).
I suggest upgrading to an SSD and increasing your RAM too. Then you have the hardware to run the last OS X 10.11.
