POBLEMS DEFAULT PROGRAM WINDOWS 7
I have a problem. My list of default programs starts with the letter F
All programs starting for exa, ple with one are not in the list, so I can't select it as default program.
I tried right click and 'open with' and browsweed in the programs exe file - but it will not record the program that it is not in the list of default programs. Please can you tell me how to solve this
J7... I had this problem too and * literally * just fixed it through the registry.
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell
In order to change folder and open, using their formatting, change the default value to reflect the location of the exe CS4. For example, I entered in the following (including the quotation marks):
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1 '.
When I went to re-associate files, CS4 has appeared in "Other Files". I was able to select without any problem.
I think I saw you post also nothing doesn't so I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Cannot change default program windows 7 64 bit
I have a user who is running windows 7 64 bit which cannot change default programs. This only happens on the computer if it is connect. So I think it has something to do with his profile. I noticed that when I go in the Panel and click default programs on associated with a file type I can choose the new program, but it will not save.
We just migrated to a new domain and transferred all the user profiles with the Microsoft migration tool.
Thank you

Hi Mr. Minister,
Your question is still there while in Safe Mode? If so, you try to run a SFC scan for troubleshooting the corrupted system files on your PC.
To perform a scan of the SFC, follow the steps on the following link: How to use the tool File Checker system to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or Windows 7
Your computer may also be infected and needs to be cleaned in order to work properly. I suggest that you try the steps listed in the related post below with your question:
You can also try a clean boot troubleshooting method to see if it helps you solve your problem.

I'm doing my default Windows Live Mail email program, Windows Mail at the moment is. I went to the start menu, click default programs, and then set the default program - my problem is that when I go in there single window mail is the only listed program, Live Mail is not. How can I make my program by default if it is not listed there?
Thank you!
Is it possible that you have mixed the terms of...
Windows Live Mail... it will appear under set your default programs
Windows Live Hotmail... It will NOT be listed under set your default programs.I had read an article that the user can make Windows Live Hotmail , listed in the set your default programs, but I have not saved article. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

Cutting tool - associated default program
I would use the snipping tool and e-mail the information that I have chosen. When I try to do, I get a message that I don't have an e-mail program associated with. My default e-mail program is Yahoo (sbcglobal.net). I would like to know how to associate my e-mail with the cutting tool program. I looked at the "Default program" windows and can't figure out what to do. I don't know what I want to put this in place. I know that the cutting tool is under Accessories, but that is not always help me. Can anyone help?

Hello
The capture tool can create image files that you can send an email, but you must have an e-mail program installed.
Yahoo is an internet e-mail 'service' that works through your browser. You must install an e-mail program and then set up your Yahoo email account to work through this e-mail program.
I think you need an email Yahoo Plus (paid) account to use it with a local mail program.
Alternatively, you should be able to simply save the image file as a .jpg or .png file capture tool and attach it directly to an email from Yahoo.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Windows 7

Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.
Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.
I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).
Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.
I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.
I managed to solve the problem. I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email. The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.
IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.

The problem is that you can not do that because it is all grayed out. I want to have access. How to gain access?
I do not have many changes in windows 7. My work takes more time to achieve because of these changes. Frustrating

How to determine whether Outlook is the default e-mail program Windows 7
There are a number of postings on Internet in the topic configure Outlook (I use Outlook 2013) as the default e-mail program. I can go into Control Panel, default programs, select Outlook, click on set this program as default and click OK. However, I don't see any indication that I've accomplished anything. How will I know that Outlook is my default mail program?
Windows Explorer to open a folder that contains .jpg files.
Right-click on one of them, then click on 'send '.
Select "E-Mail" as a target. Windows will now open the default mail Manager.

How to set Windows Live Hotmail as my e-mail program by default on Windows 7?
I had Windows Live Hotmail as my email program by default when I had XP but now with 7, I can't for some reason any. I don't want to use Windows Live Mail. I want just to link to Hotmail.
I know what you're saying and I thought for a while also, but one day when I had XP, I went to set a new default and in the drop-down list e-mail client in Internet Explorer 8, it says Windows Live Hotmail. I have no idea how it got because that prior to that time I had never seen Hotmail it. Well, I thought that the situation would be similar to Windows 7 but IE 8 does not provide a drop-down menu here to set default programs, it just sends you to the control panel to actually choose a program. I want that Windows Live Hotmail has a plug-in or whatever you call, like Yahoo, so you can set it as your default email.

Windows 8 question "creating associations in default programs"
When I click with the right button on anything and want to send by email, it tells me there is no e-mail program associated with this function, and to create an association in the default programs control panel. When I'm here, it gives me four choices to click on, making no sense at all to me.
Can I have some details on the creation of an association to my Microsoft"live"account, which is the only email I have.
Windows 7 automatgicly whatever it is attached to my outlook, Hotmail or live email which was all the same anyway, I think that
Unlike Vista and WinXP, Win8 nor Win7 includes a default email Client. [App Mail of Win8 is not a Mail Client.]
If you want to MailTo and send to functions work properly, you will need to install an e-mail Client (for example, Windows Live Mail [free];) MS Outlook [non-free]) and then check that it is registered as the default to e-mail in CUSTOM (<>) the section default computer Configure programs.
[Yes, it's very confusing. [What were thinking?]
