Point of Photos? Use it takes double space?

Have used an iPhone for years, I am relatively new on my MacBook.  From what I can tell, photos app on my iPhone: useful, but the photos on MacBook app running el Capitan: not useful?

I copied all my files in the pictures library, and then when I went to them for download to print them, I couldn't find the files.  I was told that I had to export them, which I did, which solved this issue and all the image files are in the same place (I learned from where to find where files of Photos are stored, but it is not super easy access, or in a concise list).  Now, I have two questions;

1. If I use cloud storage, what is the point of having all my in the Photos app, other than just watching at home (which I don't usually do)?

2 if I have all my photos in pictures and also export them to a folder all files are easy to use, I'm essentially used double my space hard drive to keep in both places?

Yes, you are doubly space.

If you get only familiar with the interface of Photos, you should be able to find and print your photos easily.

  • what takes my space in my computer?

I have defraged and used disk clean but have always no more room! I have 114 g' low s.i. load a lot of movies but I deleted more then half but I have STILL no more space left .i have even deleted the old files... I don't know what could occupy all my space, help please!

If you use this amount of space on a Windows XP computer - it is * your * stuff taking up by.  Windows XP with * sorts * installed applications take about 10 GB of space - usually not much more.  The 'all kinds of applications' would include office suites, graphics suites, video editing suites, etc.  Is more likely, whatever it is above the mark of ~ 10 GB * your * stuff.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

Most of us eventually ends up in a situation where we wonder what takes up space on our hard drives.  If you're like me and you do not have a highly organized environment, this can be particularly challenging.  In the past, I used an application that scans my hard drive and color points of occupation my hard drive codes.

    • Programs and features. Open programs and features in Control Panel, where you can uninstall programs you no longer use. The column size in programs and features shows how much disk space each program uses.

  • Double space - no duplicates

Yesterday, I formatted the C drive (deleted Windows 10) and did a new install of Windows 7.

My C drive has 52.6 GB of space and installed everything content takes up 24.8 (GB 25.0 on disk). However, when you look in my computer, it displays 2, 73 GB available, which means that 50 GB taken, which is double what I actually installed.

In short, my space taken is doubled without actual duplicate.

I did disk cleaning, cleaning of file system, restarts, updates, cleanings, manually checked records to see how they go back, checked hidden files... But it's simply double space taken without actual double data.

I guess the best way to describe it would be that the glass is half full, but weighs as much as a large glass.

I simply open C drive, made all the files visible, marked all and open properties.

-> This method will not show you hidden and protected files.

'pagefile.sys' and 'hiberfil.sys '. swap file takes up to 15.9 concerts and hiberfil uo 11.9 concerts. What are they, how and what can I do with these?

-> Pagefile.sys is the Windows swap file. You can not without you, but you can move it to another partition.

-> Hiberfil.sys is the file used by Windows to put the machine into hibernation. You can't move it. If you never use the "sleep mode" then you could delete the file with a little effort.

  • All of the photos used in the Pavilion projects

I'm looking to free up space on my hard drive to the Mac.  I have created a backup of the library of Photos on an external hard drive. I did a year, to keep things manageable.

Go ahead but I like to keep a few photos of each year in a library consolidated on my Mac. These photos we used in projects such as calendars and books (year in review).  I would like to find all the photos used in these projects (mark) and then delete all the photos of my main library that do not meet this criterion.  I couldn't find a way to create a smart folder to separate photos.  I couldn't find a way when in the project and displaying "placed the photos" to mark them as Favorites.

    Any ideas?

I couldn't find a way to create a smart folder to separate photos.  I couldn't find a way when in the project and displaying "placed the photos" to mark them as Favorites.

This is unfortunately true.  You add a keyword to photos - used-to-project - before adding any phototo project. Then, you can create smart album based on the keyword.

Once the photos are in the book, there is no way to mark them in some way, in the current version of photos.

    Added:

I checked again with ScriptEditor.  Projects in Photos are not scriptable. Also it is not possible to write an AppleScript that will open a project and create an album on the photos used in the project.  Only media items, albums, moments, folder are accessed from scripts and some of the predefined albums.

  • Software to insert text in a photo and then take pictures of Windows to copy on an external USB to print at the pharmacy. Thank you

You know a software product to insert text in the photo and then take pictures of Windows and copy on an external USB to print at the pharmacy. Thank you

To achieve this product is Adobe Photoshop http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/family/.  This not only allows you to do, but allows you to manipulate pictures in almost any way you choose above all.

If you are looking for a less expensive solution (although nowhere near as functional), then Microsoft Photo Editor free http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/microsoft-photo-editor.html will probably do the job for you.  In addition, you can try the free Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2003 to http://www.brothersoft.com/microsoft-office-picture-manager-171868.html.  I suggest that you try the free options to determine if it meets your needs before you spend money on Adobe Photoshop (as good as Photoshop is).

All these programs have the ability to record in a variety of formats - certainly, including that which can be handled by your local drug store (call them to check to determine what types of extensions that they can support and don't forget to use this format when you are working with your photos).

    Good luck and I hope this helps. Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • I would like to know how to double space on the notebook in a paragraph, how to register and send to another computer and number pages? can anyone help? Thank you!

Please someone help I'am new to the computer world and I would like to know if anyone out there can help understand me how to double space on the workpad words and how I can save and send it to another computer for printing. Can also how to number the pages? And also I can use see fate on this workpad vista? Thank you.

    Joseph Monteleone,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Notepad is a very limited text editor, so you can't really do a lot of formatting.  Double-spaced, the only way is to put two 'statements' at the end of each line.  You can format the font, and set the page layout for printing, but apart from turn, wordwrap who speaks all the formatting, you can do it.

To save a file, just go to file, save money, find the folder you want to save it in (don't forget remember where you saved it), name, and click Save.

To send it to another computer on your network, you can choose the drive you want to move on the network and copy and paste, or drag and drop it.  Or you can go to the computer that you want to put on, navigate to the drive on your computer where you saved, and then copy and paste or drag and drop it.

Let us know if you need more information.
