Port of SAN-Television - no operational Member

I'm trying to set up a channel between a UCS and N5k FC port.  The environment is UCS 2.0 (3 c), 6248 s, 5548 s, EMC VNX 5300.  When I get out the uplinks FC left the channel to port, that they work fine, no error and I get successful flogi.  When I configure the port-channel on the UCS and N5k, I get the error code "failure - No. operational members ' F0282.  Here are the summary of the port-channel information and configuring the ports to the UCS and N5k, the fabric and fabric B have the same problem, this is the config only one both are the same.

Hello John

You can check if you have enabled fport-channel-trunk on the N5K switch?

We have a Dell M1000e blade chassis with a number of Server Blade M605 ESXi 5.0 using the Nexus 1000V for networking.  We use 10 G Ethernet fabric B and C, for a total of 4 10 cards per server.  We do not use the NIC 1 G on A fabric.  We currently use a NIC of B and C fabrics for the traffic of the virtual machine and the other card NETWORK in each fabric for traffic management/vMotion/iSCSI VM.  We currently use iSCSI EqualLogic PS6010 arrays and have two configuration of port-groups with iSCSI connections (a physical NIC vmnic3 and a vmnic5 of NIC physical).

We have added a unified EMC VNX 5300 table at our facility and we have configured three VLANs extra on our network - two for iSCSI and other for NFS configuration.  We've added added vEthernet port-profiles for the VLAN of new three, but when we added the new vmk # ports on some of the ESXi servers, they couldn't ping anything.   We got a deal of TAC with Cisco and it was determined that only a single port group with iSCSI connections can be bound to a physical uplink both.

We decided that we would temporarily add the VLAN again to the list of VLANS allowed on the ports of trunk of physical switch currently only used for the traffic of the VM. We need to delete the new VLAN port ethernet-profile current but facing a problem.

The Nexus 1000V current profile port that must be changed is:

We can probably remove the port-channel 2, but assumed that the error message on the port-profile in use is cascading on the other channel ports.  We can delete the other port-channel 4,6,8,10 orphans and 12 as they are associated with the orphan VEM, but we expect wil then also get errors on the channels of port 13,15,17,19,21 and 23 who are associated with the MEC assets.

We are looking to see if there is an easy way to fix this on the MSM, or if we need to break one of the rising physical on each server, connect to a vSS or vDS and migrate all off us so the Nexus 1000V vmkernel ports can clean number VLAN.

You will not be able to remove the VLAN from the system until nothing by using this port-profile. We are very protective of any vlan that is designated on the system command line vlan.

You must clean the canals of old port and the old MEC. You can safely do 'no port-channel int' and "no vem" on devices which are no longer used.

What you can do is to create a new port to link rising profile with the settings you want. Then invert the interfaces in the new port-profile. It is generally easier to create a new one then to attempt to clean and the old port-profile with control panel vlan.

I would like to make the following steps.

Create a new port-profile with the settings you want to

Put the host in if possible maintenance mode

Pick a network of former N1Kv eth port-profile card

Add the network adapter in the new N1Kv eth port-profile

Pull on the second NIC on the old port-profile of eth

Add the second network card in the new port-profile

You will get some duplicated packages, error messages, but it should work.

The other option is to remove the N1Kv host and add it by using the new profile port eth.

Another option is to leave it. Unless it's really bother you no VMs will be able to use these ports-profile unless you create a port veth profile on this VLAN.

  • UCS - san-port-channel on vpc

    Hello

I hope someone can help with this,

I have a Setup with 2 Nexus of 5548 connected via a link of vpc peers and a keepalive, these two nexus switch have a link of standard VPC to a 6500 upstream. It works fine,

Then, there are several native FC connections of the 5548 to of 6248. I know that there is the possibility to configure the channel port of CF on the UCS 2.0 but it is possible to link 5548 CF interfaces in a port channel san through a vpc between the nexus of 5548.

so, for example, I can port-channel which follows through a vpc or is a channel of port san, limited to the same nexus only switch ports.

    Hi all

I have a problem with the Port Uplink channel between fabric interconnect with N7K using vPC

It's my network for the UCS deployment topology

N7K I configured vPC for red link and green linkto the fabric Interconnect A I has configured the Port-Channel with Member is Port 1 and Port 2, uplink is red link. Interconnection fabric B, I have configured the Port-Channel with Member's Port 1 and Port 2, uplink's green link.

The interface port-channel on N7K show is good, each port-channel upwards and have all members. But the fabric Interconnnect, when I see in the UCS Manager, the status of the Port-Channel on Fabic A and fabric B dysfunction not more info: no operational Member. Although all the link is a link to the top and I've got the status of the Port Channel is enabled in the UCS Manager. When I see the properties Port 1, Port to Port-Channel 2, I see the number of members status is: individual. This means channel port is not up and no member in this configuration. I want to using the port-channel load balance and more bandwidth for the uplink of 20Gig. I don't understand why?

Please help me solve this problem, I have to send the screenshot of UCS Manager when I show the status of the Port-Channel and Port-member in port-channel to reach items.

Can someone help me solve this problem, thanks a lot. References, please include elements for more details on the fault.

  • Effect of loss of link IOM UCS on CF in Port-channel mode

    Hello

We recently discovered that when UCS Server Ports are port-channel mode, loss of a member link causes CF traffic disruption in a VMware environment.  Host VMware never sees a path down and his guest enter a time-out period of IO wait.  Once expired the time-out of comments, a SCSI reset restores connectivity of storage.  We responded to several customers and said that this is the expected behavior.  This is of concern to us and how it affects the design decisions.

    Any contribution is appreciated.

    Thank you.

It is true, that you expect the SCSI timeout, and then the operating system must redo a flogi. Of course, I guess that you have CF multipathing installation and work; Therefore, no disruption to traffic.

Without port-channel, the vhba on the failing tissue will go down; and the management of multi-channel FC is the only solution.

  • UCS Manager of port feeder error

    Hey members,.

I use in this critical error on my UCS Manager. Member of San 1/12 of the Port - Channel on interconnect fabric A is down, subscription to the bottom.

It worked before. After an upgrade if this message began to appear. Someone has an idea?

    Hi Mark,

Is your switch upstream a SDM or N5K? (Fabric interconnects UCS--> MDS / N5K?).

    If so you are more likely to fall on a known bug that I've linked below;

    https://Tools.Cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCty04686/?reffering_site=dumpcr

    To help me to check if it is the bug on your fabric to interconnect and switch upstream could you run the following command;

    Setting wwn Show

    If your output is then as says the bug you will be running in it;

    XX:xx:00:2 has: 6a: XX:XX:XX

    OR

    XX:xx:8 c: 60:4f:xx:xx:xx

Work around this is to update your MDS or N5K switch. This bug is due to the fact that upstream switch does not recognize codes MAC YES fabric interconnects. Since the Port of SAN-channels is a Cisco proprietary technology must be able to recognize it so that it works correctly. Once that you upgrade your switch upstream port-channel should continue to function normally.

  • Satellite L20 PSL2ZE: Identified as 1.1 instead of 2.0 USB Ports

    Model: L20 - 264 (PSL2ZE)

For some reason, 2 of the 3 USB ports are identified by the operating system as USB 1.1 devices (Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller) instead of USB 2.0 (Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller). Is this as expected?

User reported this behavior after installing a few webcam drivers (summary details, apparently a Logitech QuickCam Pro).

Also, I am unable to find a suitable chipset driver package, since for this model, the driver page offers only a package Intel while device ID numbers point to ATI IXP SB400 chipset.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

The same appears in my device manager!
I have a Standard Enhanced PCI controller USB host and two inputs OpenHCD USB Host Controller Standard.
But I put t have problems with the speed of the USB or something like that

If you wish, you can remove the USB controllers in Device Manager and then restart the laptop again!

  • Port Replicator III + very high CPU when you move the usb mouse only in W2k

Tecra M2 with a port replicator III +.

It is set to dual boot XP and Windows 2000 (yes I know it is well a bit but I have a bunch of stuff installed in win2k it is difficult to find these days).

XP is very good at 100%, but with win 2000 if I use my * USB mouse * on the * ports port replicator and waggle the mouse around - the * CPU * jumps from 0 to * 70 + % * use (System process that seems indicatates like IRQ problem). If I plug the mouse into the ports of the laptop (when the laptop is connected) - it's fine, no more than 5% cpu usage. It's a microsoft basic mouse. I really believe that this is a problem of usb any, because the cpu jumps a little if I type quickly on my usb keyboard (only a few %). It comes with the usb ports on all the Replicator.

Any ideas? I don't really want to plug my mouse in the morning because it beats a little interest to have a docking station in the first place! I have installed mobile extensions. All other aspects of the replicator are fine

    Martin

Huh it will not be easy to find the right explanation for this.
At the moment when Tecra M2 has been offered on the market as Replicator port compatible Toshiba offered Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III (no +) and at that time both supported in operating system has been tested with it.

Toshiba later designed Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III + and confirmed the compatibility with Tecra M2, but obviously with more recent WXP (at this time).
So now, you've been following situation: you use most recent Replicator port, but with much older operating system so I assume that there may be a compatibility issue with W2K.

I can't imagine use you so often with W2K and if so, may not be so problematic to connect the mouse directly on the cell s USB port.

Sorry, but I don't think that there is nothing you can do about it.

  • Model a block synchronous dual-port RAM with LabVIEW FPGA

This question caught my attention recently.

I am trying to model a particular design element called "RAMB4_S8_S8" with the LabVIEW FPGA module. This element is a block synchronous dual-port RAM allowing simultaneous access to two ports independently from each other. That being said, a port can perform read/write operation to this RAM while at the same time, the other port might be able to do the same thing. There are two opportunities of possible port conflict, however. The first is when both ports are trying to write to the same memory cell. The other scenario is when a port writes in a cell memory while at the same time the other port reads from it. Other than that, everything should be a legitimate operation.

In order to reproduce this I select memory block that is integrated into my FPGA target. An interface is configured to be the playback mode, and the other is set to write fashion. For the option of arbitration, I let the two interfaces to be "arbitrate if several applicants only. Then I got a compiler error when I tried to run my FPGA code for this model in a SCTL. The error message is something like "several objects to request access to a resource through a resource configured with option interface" arbitrate if several applicants only ", which is supported only in the single-cycle Timed loop if there is only a single applicant by interface.

This error goes away if I replace the SCTL with a simple while loop, but not what I would like to implement. So I wonder if there is a better solution to this problem, or is it just the limitation of the LabVIEW FPGA module.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use a form of conduct to perform the operations you want in the generations clock cycles, but all the code is inside a single SCTL. Basically, read the first address and storing in a register in a single cycle and then read the second address in the second clock cycle. This would allow you to two readings of valid memory every clock cycle 2. I have included a crude extract to illustrate the concept. The case selectors are identical with address A being connected to the memory in the true case, B in the case of fake address. Your biggest model memory dual port will be intact, but it will operate at 1/2 rate.

Take a look at the white paper that provides more details on the construction of memory:

Data on a target FPGAS (FPGA Module)

The ball on the memory block indicates that memory block double port cannot be applied in a configuration of reading, which is a double ROM. access read/write port must be imitated with custom code.

  • ESXi 4.1 or ESXi 5.0 with iSCSI SAN

    Hello

I'm trying to establishing an environment that is / will be an iSCSI SAN backend entirely.  I know of a lot of reading that the best practice is to config the ESXi host with:

VMKernel > vmnic > physical network adapter > switch ports > port on SAN (config 1:1 - no grouping of vmnic)

    Environment:

    ESXi 4.1 & 5.0

    Force10 switches

    EqualLogic iSCSI SAN (PS4000 & 6000)

Here's my real question (playing the Devil's advocate):

Why I shouldn't team 3-4 vnmics on a vswitch with multiple vmkernel ports?

Given my environment.  Can someone point me to a technical document that explains what will / could happen if I set up the environment ESXi in this way?

    Thank you

So, basically, we want the SAN to take full responsibility for the failover instead of the network and/or the SAN for who should resolve the failure (which could lead to the time of restitutio in integrum longer session).   I understand that correctly?

Yes, that's right, we want to stack storage for vSphere manage with path selection and tipping - and by connecting each vmknic directly to the physical vmnic map we sort of "simulate" how to CF cards and also ignores the network failover mechanisms. As you probably know you also need to "bind" the iSCSI Software to the two vmnic (GUI now in 5.0, esxcli in 4.x)

Release notes for the patch 4 version 7

    https://wikis.Oracle.com/display/CommSuite7U4/new+features#newfeatures-MMPandIMAPPerformanceImprovedonSolarisbyUseofSolarisEventPorts

event ports are now used by default instead of the poll() system call.

Is it possible to use the poll() system call but not the port event?

The operating system is Solaris 10 sparc.

    Thank you, monk.

The name of the option is 'base.preferpoll' (in the unified config) or "local.preferpoll" (legacy config). If you want to use these options with default settings in production, please contact support. With the approach of the election, there are a nanosleep() call in the main loop to work around the problems of scalability with the poll system call. This causes the system seem to use less CPU, but that he did at the expense of latency over high. With port event approach, there is no artificial nanosleep appeal so events are dispatched immediately and the system can turn more quickly through the main loop under a moderate load.
