Portege M400 - WLan issues connection Orange Livebox

Hello

My landlord has recently upgraded our WLan by introducing an Orange Livebox. I tried to do everything to connect wirelessly to the router, but nothing helped.

All the other machines were connected with little or no problem/s. I have installed new Configfree, tried connecting via Windows system according to the instruction to the Orange site, re-typed the code several times WEP. Refined network connections, installed new Intel drivers and installed the software Orange Livebox. I'm running out of options fast.

Wireless connection is found, it tries to connect but will not give me a network address, even with the lights flashing (according to the instructions of Orange), even when it is connected through the Ethernet cable, there is no problem what so ever.

I've had a look through the forum and found nothing that exactly matches my problem and I tried to implement suggestions that seems familiar, but nothing has worked. Absence of any Advisor, I'll just phone Toshiba or Orange for the tips, however, I want to be spared from long conversations with people in technical support.

I have a Portege M400 with an Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG built into the adapter.

Suggestions anyone?

Thank you very much

David

Hello

In this case, it is not easy to say why it happens.
One of my notebooks is not able to connect to the WLan router because the router supports Wlan 802.11 BG and my Wlan card support has and B mode.

But you should first check if the Windows Firewall has been disabled. Disable encryption on the router, then try to connect to the laptop without encryption.

Sometimes the MAC address filtering has been on WLan routers. In such cases, only registered WLan cards can connect to the WLan router.
I recommend to disable all filters, encryption and then try to connect to the wireless LAN. If you will be able to connect the router you can enable encryption again.

  • Cannot install Vista Business on Portege M400 - IDE issues

Hi guys... I am looking for your help.

I downloaded all the new Vista drivers avaiable from Toshiba in support of the new installation of Vista business on my old Portege M400, that came preloaded with a version of XP Tablet and kept their loan on a CD.

I also upgraded the version of the ACPI BIOS to the latest available 3.80.

I insert the first CD of Vista professional and do a boot. (I also have a n upgrade Vista Business CD but I want to do a clean install).
I go past the first steps and choose Install.
I am faced with an error message "no disk has been found. "Click on load a driver to provide a device for installing mass storage.

Looks like Vista is not able to see the IDE drive to the edge and it's a driver problem.

I touched the "Rescan" button available on the windows installation and another message appears: "no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct driver, and then click OK. »

Hard drives shown are: Toshiba RAID SCSI Disk Device LD0

Pls tell, what new drivers since available downloads of drivers Vista for my model 400 ML PPM40E, should I choose here for my Vista installation recognizes the disk available?

    Hello

It is very easy to solve this problem.
If you would look on the page of the European driver Toshiba (Portege M400 section), then you will notice that a RAID driver is available for this model of laptop.

Impossible to install Vista because it cannot find the HARD drive due to lack of RAID driver!

You must install the RAID driver first and then you can proceed with the installation of Vista.
As far as I know the Vista installation accepting the USB flash key you can use this key to include the RAID driver.

Hope I could give some useful advice.

    Cheers mate

    Hello Mick

It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. For each issue described by Word sometimes is not possible to give an accurate diagnosis.

  • Portege M400 - cannot install OS or restore an old image

I have a portege M400 and im hardly set any operating system of windows on them. When it gets to the stage where he asks what hard drive to put in place the windows files to, it does not detect the drives.

I also have an image on a hard drive that I use a universal driver restore program to restore to any laptop regardless of the make and model and which also blue screens after the logo of windows xp when it starts up. The toshiba is the first laptop that I fell on this issue.

The BIOS is currently 1.8 I think, I can't even put the hard drive in compatibility mode or AHCI.

im a little confused about restrictions of this laptop.

Can someone guide me on what I need to do to install windows on this machine please?

Timox is right: the RAID driver must be added during the installation of Windows XP.
During installation, you will be asked to add 3rd third-party drivers. As I m not wrong not you must press F6 to add the RAID driver.

Very important note: do not format the HARD drive once the RAID driver has been added because this would remove the RAID driver from the HARD drive and installing Windows XP will fail again.

  • Portege M400 and Vista - load PSD ends with crash

I am an owner of a Portege M400 (PPM40E) and recently upgraded my Vista operating system. All new drivers work very well except for the * TPM *. Here's what's happening.

There's nothing wrong with the installation of security platform. I can create a disc to ensure personal (PSD), load and unload until the first time I got disabling my computer.
After each attempt to load the PSD is answered by an accident. Two seconds after the sending of password, I get a blue screen that informs me the source of the problem: * PFN_LIST_CORRUPT *, a memory dump file is created and the system restarts.

Anyone facing this problem? Does anyone know how to restore data from a backup manually the PSD created? The Restore dialog box does not accept the * .fsb file.

It would be great if someone could help me with this as I have not 'clear' backup files that I had stored on the DSP.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

    Hello

I googled a little and found details of error PFN_LIST_CORRUPT.
NFP: Page frame number and describes the sharing of individual images of main memory where the driver running or orders of this application.
If an application or driver is beyond this scope, then a BSOD will appear.

Here are a few tips and proposals to solve this problem I found on an external Web page:
-updated the BIOS and set the default settings
-reinstall and update the display driver, audio driver, LAN driver, etc.
    -Reinstall the security help,
    -update the Windows operating system

In the worst cases, this problem could be caused by a malfunction of the RAM, and in this case, the RAM modules should be replaced.

Sorry, but I didn't find more info on this issue.

  • Portege M400 - does not start after a BIOS update

    IHH

Please help me with my portege M400, I installed a new localized version of Windows XP, then I started to download the drivers from the Toshiba Web site, and the first thing I did was to install the new BIOS update. I don't know what version it was. Then he asked me to restart, after I did the reboot of the device unbootable and I see only an orange flashing :(

Please how can I reset my old BIOS? Is this the end of my Toshiba?
I am now in a forign country and there are noToshiba service center near me

Please is there any similarly to help me

    Hello!

I think that in this case you must go to an ASP. I put t see another solution for this problem because I think the ROM module has to be reflashed or the card mother completely must be replaced.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

And if you don t find an ASP in your country please contact an ASP in another country. I'm sure they will try to help you.

    Good bye

  • Portege M400 little startup

I have been actively using my Portege M400 for almost 2 years. A few months
There he began to become less easier to start the
laptop. When I turn it on, the following occurs:
    * The screen remains black and does not display anything
    * The power LED flashes either yellow or light green
    * The HDD LED flashes once for a 1/10 of a second and remains off, or is not light up at all
    * Sometimes the fan started working very actively and very strong
The only thing I can do with it is to stop the laptop and try
Once again. Sometimes it starts after the first attempt, but sometimes I
you have to try up to 10 times.
Here's a video showing the behavior described above:

Any ideas that is this all? Maybe I should cleap laptop computer inside, especially the fan?

It is not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here, but please try to follow:
Disconnect any external devices connected to your laptop, remove the battery and try to turn it on with power current only.

    Please post the result.

  • BIOS update solved the Portege M400 fan noise

The new version of BIOS (1.8) for Portege M400 solves the problem of fan noise. The Readme.txt explains that the temperature will rise only in three degrees. Very important, very recommended patch for users of M400.

Now I can use my tablet in my business meetings without having to give explanations to customers of the fan noise.

    Greetings.

    Hello Jose

It is very nice to hear that you are happy now. I read your previous assignments and I can understand you this annoying issue with cooling fan, but now you can see this laptop manufacturer is trying to make the product better, even if the product is on the market.

I am also certain that customer s comments can help identify the problem if persist und after this systematic search for the solution or change for the better.

  • Portege M400: no widescreen resolution external (1360 x 768)

I'm trying to get an external LCD TV with a native resolution 1360 x 768 connected to the external VGA port of my Toshiba Portege M400. This only works with the external to a resolution of 1024 x 768. Wide screen resolutions are simply not available in the graphics options. I tried also with Powerstrip, but I did not get to 1360 x 768. With another laptop I did.

According to the specifications of the Intel 945 GM chipset, it should support the wide screen resolutions. It seems to be just a gap of the Toshiba drivers. Is there a solution to this problem?
    Marijn

    Hi Marijn

I saw the other ad where you have posted on the same theme and unfortunately; There is nothing to see!
It seems that the driver doesn't support this resolution. Not every screen resolution is listed in the graphics drivers.
If the graphics driver doesn t supports your favorite resolution if you have some many possibilities. You have to choose and use an available screen resolution.

  • Portege M400: Is it possible to use the resolution 1400 x 1050 on external monitor?

The Portege M400 SXVGA (i.e. 1400 x 1050) can support 1400 x 1050 via analog / external monitor? I ask this question because I can't do! Most importantly, he is happy to provide, even if the monitor is a TFT 1400 x 1050 screen is 1280 x 1024.

I downloaded the latest Intel drivers and screen drivers, and although the o/s reports screen as being happy to show 1400 x 1024, it is not an option when selecting the resolutions.

    Is this a known issue?
    It is corrected using digital?
    Am I stupid?

    Hello

I'm not 100% sure but I think that that it will not support a higher resolution. In my opinion, it is according to the performance of the graphics card and the resolutions supported and not according to the used port.

  • Portege M400 problem with virtualization

I have problem with VT in BIOS VT is enabled, but Windows 7 do not. I instaled XPmode, but when I try to start I get connect this virtualization is disable. I don't know what I do mus.

    Hello

What CPU you have in your Portege M400?

Virtualization is a function of the motherboard (BIOS) * and * processor type. The fact is that not all processors are dematerialising and then you should check the specification on the first Intel page.

    Check this box!

  • Portege M400 - virtualization not available in BIOS

    Hello

I have 2 Portege M400 (different models), as well with the BIOS version 3.8, but strangely in one of them, I have the virtualization option to turn on or off.
But the other not, and it seems that I'm not able to do something to make this option available on this laptop.

Is this a known issue? I could I solve it?

    Thanks in advance,
    VICTOR

That these two books have been said jokingly with the same processor?

You should know that not all Intel processors supports the Intel VT (virtualization technology)

Therefore, sometimes VT option is not available in the BIOS!

    See you soon
