Portege M800 - cannot recover Vista

HY guys!

Here's my problem, or even one of my friends...

Today, my friend bought a Toshiba Portege M800-116 - model No.: PPM81E
She turned on and I forgot to plug it in, so it closed during the installation of Vista and because she is a total noob on computer, she took her recovery disk and install XP. If the recovery image that should be put on the HARD drive disappeared...

Now, I tried to install a Vista Ultimate x 64 but I had a lot of problems with the drivers and I could not slove it yet. For example, the display driver will not work and others too. But I don't want him to use XP because it can only use 3 GB of RAM and it has 4 GB...

So maybe you guys can help me? I don't know what to do. I'm trying to find solutions for my driver problems, but a recovery for Vista file would also be nice... His great Vista, which should be installed. :)

I'm of the Austria if it's important. ;)

Hello and thanks for your help.

Look at [www.isd.toshiba.com.au] and you will find 64-bit drivers.

On the website, go to Support-Online Download Center, enter your model and you will find all the drivers for your laptop

Hi, I have a portege M800 PPM81C-07602D. It came with windows vista but I reinstalled Windows 7, and now I can't get the bluetooth drivers to install. I tried the old drivers and the new drivers windows vista 7, but when I run the installation I get the message "Please plug in the bluetooth device and click OK."... If I click ok it appears again. I don't know why it wouldn't find the bluetooth internal... I don't think that there is a physical switch to BT anywhere, and I tried to find out if it had been disabled in the bios but nothing in there on this subject... so... I'm out of ideas.

Anyone has any ideas I can try?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Toshiba Bluetooth stack can be installed if the BT module is activated correctly use FN + F8 key combination to activate the BT module.
After making that BT should be recognized and installed correctly (you will have to entered BT in Device Manager).

  • Portege R500: Cannot restore Vista using Toshiba recovery disks

I downgraded Vista to XP loaded factory.
However, I would now like to restore back to Vista.

    I have disc 1 & 2 ' product Recovery DVD-Rom; Portege R500 disks.
They are also marked "Windows Vista Business (SSD/PATA)" has been provided by Toshiba.

I don't know how to use these discs to restore my operating system to Windows Vista. When I insert disc 1 and after loading some files, a message "cannot read the file source or disk - Preinst2.SWM" and I can not go any further.

An instruction step by step would be greatly appreciated

I wonder why you receive two recovery disks. As far as I know Toshiba Vista Recovery image is stored on a DVD.
Perhaps you have received two CD

In any case, have you tried to boot from the second disk? I mean the second recovery CD?

Usually, recovery is not very sensitive. You must boot from the disc and should follow the instructions on the screen.

The error cannot read from the source file or disk - Preinst2.SWM looks like a little to the Conference on disarmament would not readable or the CD/DVD drive would not read the disc properly.

  • Portege M800: The fan is almost always on

    Hello!

I have a Portege M800 M105 with Vista 64 bit. The fan is almost always on despite the fact that the temperature of the CPU is about 43 to 46 Grad Celsius and the CPU has nothing to do. I used the program Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) to display the temperature. I find that the noise of the fan is very noisy.
Is there a possibility to control the fan, so that it will be only noisy when the temperature is high?

    Best regards

    Hello

You are right. The Toshiba Power Saver for Win XP looks completely different as the Vista energy saver.
But you can also change many settings in Vista energy saver that contribute to the use of the battery power decreases.

The power settings are a bit hidden in the Vista energy saver but check this thread posted by Jayjay:

  • Portege M800-108 - LAN does not

    Hello all :)

First of all, I'll post my information system
Portege' M800-108 Windows Vista 32-bit Service Pack 1, with all the latest updates
Router DLink DSL G624T no DHCP

I got my laptop connected to my router this morning with LAN cable, and everything worked great. When I returned home, I connected the laptop to the router and the LAN was not working. The LED on the router would be clear ON and then turn off and then ON and OFF again, as if the PC is looking for a connection.
I used all of the 4 ports on the router, I've used different cables and the problem is still there.
The LAN driver is the most recent available.
WLAN works very well on the contrary.

Any suggestion? Is this a HW problem?

    TNX a lot.

You said that the s light will light up and then move offshore, on and outside.
This happens on all 4 ports?

Normally, when this happens on a router or a switch which means that the router is defective.
    But you can try this:
Unplug the router AC adapter. Wait at least 1-2 minutes and plug it back on again once.
Maybe the router is working properly, and if not, you should change.

    Hello

    I'm french and I bought a laptop PORTEGE M800 - 11G with Vista Premium

I want to uninstall a lot of features of applications, programs, & windows.

I post on this forum of toshiba because I hope that we can explain to me what are these applications; TRDCReminder & TRORDLauncher, published by TOSHIBA.

I prefer known before uninstalling these applications.

    Thanks for your help

Sorry for my very bad English,

    Greetings from sorts

    Hello

I think that the TRDCReminder remains for Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator reminder and it reminds you to create the own recovery disk.
The TRORDLauncher is related to the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator too.

However, the two processes are developed by Toshiba and are necessary or a part of the Toshiba Recovery disc creator.

  • No driver Vista Portege M800-105 (PPM81E) available

    Hello world

I bought an M800-105 and as with all laptops, I bought I did a clean reinstall of the operating system (in this case vista Home premium)... to my surprise there is only one driver listed when I search model fo PPM81E vista driver (the driver Bluetooth stack)

I downloaded the necessary driver as displays and pilot Wi - Fi intel.com but all the features of Toshiba as keys FN, webcam, touchpad buttons next to the... power button not etc don t market.

The driver for the device will be published, or is there a mirror/alternate for pilots bond?

    Thank you

    Hello

Portege M800 is, in my opinion, the most recent model Portege and will certainly offer the drivers. I think it's just a matter of time. Vista drivers are available for all preinstalled Vista notebooks and will be the same with the Portege M800.

But one thing confuses me: why you installed your version of Vista if Portege M800 is already available with Vista Home Premium? You created the recovery DVDs?

  • Portege M800-103 - Bluetooth not working not not Linux

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Portege M800-103 (PPM81A) and a system to dual-boot with Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.1 x86_64 (recently installed).
Almost everything works well under Ubuntu except bluetooth, which is not yet recognized.

I also tried the omnibook and the toshset (with unbearable = 12) drivers. I have had no success at all.

Little help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

Have you checked OS support for this model of laptop computer?
As much as I know this Portege is not Linux supported and Toshiba doesn't offer BT stack for Linux.

Have you checked some Ubuntu forum? Maybe you can find some useful information there. I imagine that a lot of people have the same problem with the different laptop models.

Before uninstalling the package, the first button next to the power button had to function to turn off the backlight of the Logo, the touchkeys senitive one of my touchpad. NOW he cut the sound! Hello guys

This is really strange. I put t really know what happen on your laptops. The fact is that these buttons are controlled by the software. If I remember well he called support Button or a button control and she is part of the package of added value.

VAP contains several different tools and utilities. When you remove the VAP, it will be removed the responsible application of the functionality of FN (Flashcards), and this is the reason why the FN doesn't work anymore.

So, theoretically everything should be OK when you install PPV again. Again theoretically. Why you still have this problem I put t know and I don t believe that no one can say for sure. Maybe some registry entries are corrupted now? Who knows?

I presume that you don t want to use a more radical solution and do clean install of the new OS, but it can certainly help. With own OS pre-installed (factory settings) everything works well again.

In the end, I must say that I use Satellite U400 (similar to your Portege) almost 6 months now and all the buttons work correctly. I always use the Vista version and I n t made no changes. It works well.

  • Portege M800 - at startup "Please wait" message remains more than a minute.

    Hello

I'm French and I bought a laptop Toshiba Portege M800-10v!

Currently, this pc is great! However, I noticed something disturbing.

In fact: when you start Windows Vista, I get the message "Please wait", which remains for more than a minute! I found that I was not alone! But I can't find any information on it.

    You know more?

    Thank you.

    Hello

If you have any new laptop and if it is connected to the internet for laptop will automatically download new updates and each of them will be installed after restart. If you should not be worried about it.

Yesterday I installed some stuff on Satellite P300 friends and I waited about 3 minutes after the first and the second restart. It bothers me, but there is nothing to do. To avoid this problem, I changed the update settings and used the check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

    Hello

I m not a Portege M800 owner but normally I would say that you should try to update the BIOS and install all Windows updates, but you already have it not.

What can you do now? If you have installed your own version Windows try again with the factory settings. Maybe it has something to do with software or then I don't know m.

If it doesn t work I think you'll need professional help to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your parts defective laptop hardware and trade if it of necessary.

Is there someone who could help me with this issue?

    Hello!

That you say with the WiFi does not work?
Can you connect to the router?
The WLAN card is recognized in Device Manager?

To solve this problem make sure that you have the latest version of the BIOS. Check on the Toshiba site.

Also disable features of security as a hidden SSID, MAC address filtering and so far away.
Check if an update of the firmware on your router available.
