Portege R500 - Touchpad does not scroll after Windows 7 upgrade

Hello!! Happy new year!!

I got a great Christmas present, an upgrade to windows 7, so I upgraded the operating system of my Portege R500 of Bussiness from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. Up here, the performance of the laptop has improved BUT the touchpad is not working properly and with correctly I mean that scrolling is not working more. I checked toshiba Web page downloads and there is no driver for the touchpad for windows 7. Is that what I can do to back the scroll function to work or is it just a matter of patience

Thanks in advance for the help
See you soon

If you are certain that there is no driver Toshiba and is your Synaptics touchpad then try their drivers for Windows 7 [http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers/]

    Hello

Have you tested an external mouse on the laptop? It work?
The touchpad is listed in Device Manager?

Normally, you can enable or disable the touchpad through FN + F9. Did you check that?
You may need to install the package of value added for this.

  • Portege R500 - Vista does not SP1 using windows update

    I just got a new Portege R500.

Do not specify the information of Windows Vista Service Pack 1, so I guess that's not?
But the automatic windows update does not offer to install SP1.

What I have to do it manually? How?

The other question is: is it OK to do, or are there many problems with drivers after that.

    Please help out me.

    Hello

First update of Windows is always desirable and SP1 is really necessary, because it fixes many bugs in Vista.

One of the reasons why Windows Vista doesn't automatically update the SP1 version, is that SP1 can be installed.
Check if SP1 has been installed. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click computer and then click Properties.
    2. Windows Vista SP1 is installed, you will see a reference to Windows Vista SP1 is displayed at the bottom of the Windows edition section

However, I found a useful document of Microsoft Knowledge that could help you to update SP1

After installing Windows 7 my 'FN' key doesn't work anymore. The big problem is the upgrade to Windows 7, I turned off my touchpad using "FN + F9". Now that my FN key work and I cannot turn my touchpad.

Is there a way to reverse without using the "fn"? And is there a way I can fix my FN key? Accessible from start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > accessibility does not work. Is somehow connected? What can I do?

Hi, I've just updated my Pavilionx2 N005TU for windows 10 yesterday. After update, tochpad is not working and keep turn off every time, even I allow him - he'll be disenabled after closing. And I have to activate whenever I turn on my laptop. You have a permanent solution for this? Thank you.

PS. I already checked for the new update of device - but no update to touchpad so far.

Hi Amm_S04, as you know windows 10 has just come out, so it will take time for all drivers (including touchpad drivers) to get the new updated version supporting this new windows. For now you can also check here http://support.hp.com/us-en drivers

Although I would advice you to wait and update the driver through windows update as soon as it is available.

    HI Jorge,.

If you have reinstalled your system using the Toshiba recovery disks the touchpad should have the right drivers and be fully functional. I seem to remember that it is possible to disable the touch pad using one of the "keyboard shortcuts" (F9 on my SA30) in order to check that it has not been inadvertently pressed.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode with Networking" and press ENTER.  When it has loaded, download driver Synaptics following, and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp49501-50000/sp49601.exe

Once finished, click on the Start Menu, open windows control panel, open programs and features, the Synaptics Pointing Device driver right click and choose uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the computer and let Windows load normally, then open your Downlads folder and run the installer downloaded Synaptics previously - when it is finished, restart the laptop.
