So here as I sit in my garden in the Sun thinking ooo wouldn't be great sit here hooked up to my music on my NAS and use my jambox... but no! Apparently, my laptop £1,200 does not connect to ANY of my bluetooth speakers despite the Web of Toshiba site, saying that it supports the profile...

I n t have this device, but use of BT connection with Toshiba laptops should not be problematic. To prepare the Jambox for matching is very simply.

  • Portege R830 - error 3.9 update BIOS

    Hi all

    Portege R830 - 138 current BIOS 3.7

I can't update the BIOS to 3.8 or the latest version of 3.9. Error: This computer is not supported.

VAP is installed and modules work. A previous post on the forum suggested that it could be linked to the Intel firmware update recent Management Interface which I had asked and I am unable to uninstall or rollback.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

One of my friends has updated the BIOS from 3.7 to 3.9 without major problems.
It might be possible that you cannot update the BIOS because of missing or disabled TVALZ services.

Go to control panel of control-> the Administrative Tools icon, and then click services.

Here, you can check if the TVALZ service is available, if it is available, turn it on and then try to update the BIOS.

If this does not work, you will need to retrieve the laptop using recovery disk or recovery disk that the BIOS update should functions using factory reset Toshiba

  • Portege R830 cannot connect iPhone4S to USB port

    Hello world

I have 5 Portege R830-138 with Win7x64 nine completely updated with the latest drivers and patches.
Yesterday I connected my iPhone4S to the USB port on the right side and everything worked well (iTunes, tie, etc.).

Unfortunately, this (the one on the right side) USB port no longer works for today: iPhone, mouse usb pendrives... nothing, it seems to be dead. The USB port on the left side still works with mouse usb and memories but not with the iPhone.

I thought it was a problem of HW laptop on the right side USB port so I tried with a second Portege.
Same problem: plug the iPhone on the right side, USB port, the USB port is not working.

The same iPhone connected to my MacBook Air works fine.
I wouldn't try with a third Portege, do you have any ideas?

    Thank you
    Valerio

    Hello

The left USB port supports the standard USB 2.0 USB port on the right standard supports USB 3.0.

I don't know if the Apple software supports USB 3.0 m.
According to some information in the internet, USB 3.0 is not supported by Apple

  • Portege R830 - Win 8.1 Value Added Package (Flash cards)

    Hello.

First of all I would like to say that I used my Toshiba Portege R830 with all the operating systems since Windows 7 and I have never installed fresh OS.
That said, I could not use Intel WiDi on Win10 and had to return to Win8 (DVD which I happily bought as well as the upgrade).

I installed all the software Toshiba using Upgrade Wizard and for the first time since the 2011', there was no Flash cards available (drop-down menu shown with use of the Fn keys). I used to like 2.5 years on Win 8/8.1 and now his party and is not available to the installation...

WTF? After a week, I discovered that cards Flash is not present in VAP 1.6 (only in 1.5.X.X or earlier).
Unfortunately I can't install only stand-alone Flash cards (or can I?).

And here my question: if I install VAP 1.5 (with Flash cards), can I (ANYHOW) strengthen certain elements (such as system driver) without uninstalling the previous version of VAP?

From my experience when I run VAP 1.6 installer first thing it does is an uninstall complete previous versions.

Please help me! I can't imagine who thought that removing the 1.6 flash cards would be a good idea...

Driver Toshiba UE page provides the Key Utility for Windows 8 Upgrade feature Toshiba v1.00.6626.03.

So, if you have installed Value Added Package 1.6.0130. You must also install the key function Toshiba utility

  • Wireless card not found - Portege M100

I hope someone can help me, I'm pulling out my hair!

I bought a used Portege M100 (model number PPM10E) and is in serious trouble to install the mini-pci wireless adapter that comes with it.

When I turn on the wireless switch on the front, light on the cover comes in orange.

Windows XP (Pro, SP1, and SP2 update) does not see the device. Device Manager acknowledges 2 devices with problems: 'Network controller' and 'other devices '.

I downloaded the drivers all listed for this model and installed (or tried!) in the order specified in the Installation Instructions file (from the same page of drivers Toshiba download for this model).

I also installed Everest Home Edition, and he sees the wireless adapter and tells me that it is an Intel 2200 BG.

I tried to get drivers updated Intel and driverguide.com, but none of them will have, either - not even on a clean install, substituting them the driver provided by Toshiba.

The wireless card works perfectly in other non-Toshiba notebook, also running Win XP Pro - so I guess that there is a conflict of software/hardware with this Toshiba laptop!

I tried to 'update driver' on 1 2 problem devices) by pointing their (via Device Manager / driver update) each downloaded game (uncompressed) file. No joy.
    (2) to connect to my router via an ethernet cable and allowing Windows to search online for drivers. No joy here no more.

When I try to run the Atheros Client Utility or Config Free, they can't find any wireless adapter on the system.

Can someone give me advice on what to do next? Specifically, I bought this machine because I need to use wireless.

    Thanks in advance (and hope!)

    Teddy

    A few questions:
    1. you said that the wireless network card works in the Toshiba laptop not. Did you change the card WiFi of your Toshiba to the other laptop?
    2. you are not sure if it's an Intel or Atheros Wlan card (otherwise it makes no sense to install a client with an Intel Wlan card atheros). Could you please send the PnP ID of the device (DeviceManager-> properties-> details-> Hardware ID)?

  • Portege R830 had dead blue when the screen connects to wifi or shared internet

It seemed began as soon as the automatic update from Microsoft on Qualcomm, Atheros, every time when connect to any WIFi, share internet, my portege R830 shows blue screen and the following error message:
    unhandled system_thread_exception (athwb.sys)

I found that I am not the isolated on the Web site. I tried to remove and stop updates. However, once I connect to the internet, the blue screen comes back.

Is the problem because of the network adapter? The model is Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB
Can solve the problem if I download the new driver of Qualcomm-Atheros site? Or if I replace a new adapter?

The athwb.sys file belongs to the Atheros wireless driver. Usually placed in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\athwb.sys
It seems that in your case this file causing the BSOD.

I found a very interesting detail about this problem and why it seems.

  • Portege R830-10 q - need good WLAN Driver for Win7

  • Portege R830 - forcing mobile broadband using 3 G/HSDPA with Win 8

    Hi all

Updated my Portege R830 to Windows 8 without problem.

Given that most of the Wireless Manager functionality has been moved in the Windows, I can not find where I can "force" the connection to 3 G/HSDPA.

I live in an area where the signal is insufficient and if I let the network default settings, it frequently goes to the strongest EDGE connection. I connected with Wireless Manager, using only 3 G/HSDPA where 2 bars were sufficient for everyday tasks.

Moments of light bulb? (Travel is unfortunately not an option... ;))

Hmm, I think that this parameter isn't available in 8 Win.

Microsoft provides a nice article on configuring broadband to help to win 8 and mentioned configuration isn't it:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/mobile-broadband-from-start-to-finish

From my understanding the best signal to broadband will be selected and used if it is available.,.

  • Portege R830 - problems of 3G connection after installing Win 7 32 bit

    Hello

I went down a Portege R830 Windows 7 64 bit for Windows 7 32 bit with drivers of Toshiba. I put a SIM from my provider.
In the windows Network Manager, 7 and in the Toshiba Wireless Manager I can see the right provider and HSPA network but when I start the connection, it does not (I don't have a PIN code).

It is failed with Windows 7 Network Manager and Manager Toshiba wireless (I don't have this problem with the Portege R700 windows 7 32bits)

But I found a small solution (but I think that's not enough):
    I have created a dial-up connection, with a number * 99 #,.
I started the connection, it does not happen, but after that, when I raise my first connection is good.

I don't know why, it's as if the modem is in sleep and the dial-up connection wake-up the modem, because after all is good (win7 Network Manager, Manager wireless Toshiba) so if I reboot the Portege.

I want to avoid the dial-up connection on my r700 portege with 32-bit windows 7

Thanks for your help and sorry for my English.
support for the toshiba told me to reinstall windows 7 64 bit to solve the problem :)

  • Portege R830 - need to value added for Win8 64 bit package

    Hello

I have a Portege R830-1 and I am very disappointed with Toshiba.

I have the function keys working on the first month of windows 8. whenever a windows update broke that for me and after that the kys function no longer works.

I reformatted the pc, I have tryied all what I found on the web, but the only thing I found is the added value of the package or the memory card controller is missing. I tried to install and reinstall all the versions, but it seems to be 32 bit and no 64-bit version. So I have to wait for the next release of PVAT

Windows 8 was released many months and I think that the problem is not difficult to solve.

Is it possible to return the function keys to live?

  • Some function keys do not work on my Portege R830

Like others, I have a new Portege R830 and experience the sudden and unexplained feature of keys loss 13 function. My os is 64-bit native windows 7 with office 2010 installed subsequently. I have the SSD model.

I followed the instructions, withdrawal PVAT and re-setup, and I have two VAP and operational flashcards. I used the drivers of the USA site for the last series (Australian and European pilot sets are old and different versions).

In most, but not all, function keys are working again. What does work are the following:
    -Functionkey F12 does not
-volume up and down keys not working not - what I'm more interested - suggestions on how to make functional again please?

also, on re - install VAP, I lost the feature on ecobutton. Suggestions on how make it work again?

    Thank you in anticipation

    Hello

You are on the guy to the right way of the VAP and utility Card Support Flash controls the FN keys. If you have a European model for laptop, I advise to use the drivers of Toshiba page of European pilot, but generally avoid a difference in software

However, in my case restart the cards Flash allows you to recover the functionality of buttons FN. Can be found in all programs-> Toshiba-> Flash, Flash cards cards.
In order to verify if restart help.

Regarding the key Eco: ECO Utility controls this button too then recommend installation/reinstallation of the software next to the VAP

  • Intel 82579LM NIC on the Portege R830 does "Promiscuous" mode?

    Hello

I have a laptop (Portege R830) work, who does not want to sniff the packets. I connected to a hub Netgear DS104-, as well as an older laptop and then uplink to ADSL.

Run a continuous ping the default gateway and Wireshark on the devices and the other computer can see the pings from Toshiba, but not vice versa.

The Toshiba runs under an administrator account has disabled Windows Firewall and my disabled Symantec endpoint encryption. I don't have any other AV to my knowledge.

Does anyone have ideas of services I should turn on or off, or the knowledge of the characteristics of this NETWORK adapter?

According to the Intel site "Yes, all cards Intel® PRO/100 Intel® PRO/1000, Intel® Gigabit, Intel® PRO/10 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit from Intel® currently on the market support"Promiscuous"mode." But Intel® 82579 Gigabit Ethernet Controller is not in the list that follows http://www.Intel.com/support/Network/SB/CS-004185.htm?wapkw=%28promiscuous%29

    Thanks for your time.

Usually the firewall or security software Internet blocks pings so maybe try to uninstall Symantec completely. Disable it just cannot turn off everything.

Another thing to try, is to use a static IP instead of DHCP. Disable IPv6 or install a new LAN driver from the Intel Web site may also help.

  • Portege R830 - ConfigFree bug at startup

    Good afternoon

I use a Toshiba Portege R830 (PT321E), our operating system is Windows 7 x 64. We found ConfigFree to create network profile.

We have created a profile to altern Wired/Wireless connection when plug/unplug the wire.

We note that at the start, after connection, we have an error message:

    ConfigFree «»

The following may be responsible for the failure.
Wireless LAN Utility is active (Please close the utility).
Netwok property window is open (Please close the window).
Internet windows option is open (Please close the options window).

In cases where there is always a problem, please close all other applications and then run ConfigFree"

So we are starting and no one should be started except Wireless LAN Utility can be started (I don't know how to check).

    You have an idea?

    Hello

Try to configure the profile once more.
If this does not work, uninstall the ConfigFree.
Download the new version of the page of the Toshiba UE driver and install.
Then try to set it up again.
