• What are the ports used by the Cisco VPN Client?

Hello

I need to open my outgoing traffic on my firewall to allow two interns (LAN) Cisco VPN Client to connect to their Internet virtual private network.

I already opened the port 500/UDP, but they are not able to connect. If I open all outgoing ports, they can connect.

What are the ports used by the Cisco VPN Client?

Thank you

You need to open:

UDP 500

ESP protocol

You must also open the UDP 4500 port (if using NAT - T).

In addition, if the clients are connecting to a VPN 3000 Concentrator series and it is configured for all other options of NAT-transparency, corresponding ports must be open. By default:

1. If using IPSec over TCP 10000, then open TCP 10000.

2. If using IPSec over UDP 10000, open UDP 1000.

• What are TCP/UDP ports must be open for version 4.8 of the VPN Client?

What are TCP/UDP ports must be open for Cisco VPN Client version 4.8 working?

Thank you

Normally, you need the following ports and Protocol:

UDP 500

UDP 4500

ESP

In this case, you are using IPSec over TCP, you must open the port TCP 10000 or any other port that you want to use for (its configurable) IPSec connections.

As far as I know, it will be UDP port 500 and TCP port 10000 (or all that will be configured on the client). The network will look like this:

Customer - etc - PIX - Server

Hello

they would be:

UDP 500

no need for the tcp port, pix 6.3.1 manages not ipsec/tcp, its only ipsec/udp.

port-forward "port forwarding".

description of the 23 local-port remote port 5000 remote control-server "10.18.20.9" 'switch '.

We should connect this device via the command in this way, telnet 127.0.0.1 prompt 5000

He managed the switch to Telnet, but is it possible to connect via ip to the real device?

or we should as a vpn client config all connect (tunnel mode) in order to telnet as the hardware directly?

There are different ways to solve this. But it depends on the device and the version you are using. As you show an IOS-config, you are quite limited in features. The SAA is mouch more powerful with VPN without client.

The choices you have are:

1. Keep this behavior
2. Use DNS names for the connection. Here the local 'hosting' - the table is changed, so administrator rights are needed.
3. use a VPN client AnyConnect or EzVPN-based
4. use the Smart Tunnels:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/iOS-XML/iOS/sec_conn_sslvpn/configuration/15-Mt/sec-Conn-sslvpn-smart-tunnels-support.html

If you don't want to use a full-tunnel-client, you must first review in Smart-Tunnels.

• Linksys Cisco VPN Client connection drops

I have a Linksys BEFVP41 V2. I have a PC running Windows XP SP2 with customer VPN Cisco 5.0.00.0340. I have a problem when I log in the VPN client with my employer network. It seems to be ok. No problem to do the job, hit their proxy server, etc.. All of a sudden, the connection drops. It seems to 'freeze' the network. No surfing, without PuTTY. Sometimes 5 minutes after the connection or 3 hours later. I have to disconnect the VPN connection, and then reconnect. What could be the problem? My MTU is set to 1432. The Windows Firewall has exceptions for ports 10000, 4500 and 62515. I have a network in place at 172.20.x.x... not the default or typical 10.x.x.x network. Firmware is 1.01.04 on the router.

• Problems to connect via the Cisco VPN client IPSec of for RV180W small business router

Hello

I tried to configure my router Cisco of RV180W as a customer VPN IPSec, but have encountered a problem that I hope someone can help me with. "" I managed to do the work of configuration so that the Cisco's VPN IPSec client authenticates successfully with the XAUTH user, I put on the router, but during the negotiation, the client ends with the following, which appears several times on the router error message: ' Mar 20 Oct 19:41:53 2015 (GMT + 0000): [r1] [IKE] ERROR: local configuration for > [34360] has no config mode.

I've read around the internet and a number of people seem to say that the Cisco VPN Client is not compatible with the router, but the same thing happens to my iPhone VPN client.

Is it possible that this can be implemented? Below, I have attached the full configuration files and the log files. Thank you much in advance.

Correct, the RV180 is not compatible with the Cisco VPN Client. The Iphone uses the Cisco VPN Client.

You can use the PPTP on the RV180 server to connect a PPTP Client.

In addition, it RV180 will allow an IPsec connection to third-party customers 3. Greenbow and Shrew Soft are 2 commonly used clients.

• The CBAC & VPN Client

I use soft Cisco VPN client behind a Cisco CCCB router running. What are the ports must be opened to allow the client VPN working properly?

I am currently using:

allow an esp

allow udp any any eq isakmp

These are necessary, but you may also need to open UDP 10000 to support NAT - T if IPSec must cross a NAT border along its way.

You'll also need allow beach access VPN client address to the IP address ranges whatever they are to be used in common. This is because packages through the ACL twice, once encrypted using ESP and ISAKMP, there not yet encrypted.

So, if the VPN client has a range of pool to say 10.1.1.0/24 and his contact only the acl 10.2.0.0/16 subnet would look like:

IP access-group extended VPNACCESS

allow an esp

allow udp any any eq isakmp

permit IP 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 10.2.0.0 0.0.255.255

• The VPN client VPN connection behind other PIX PIX

I have the following problem:

I wanted to establish the VPN connection the client VPN to PIX on GPRS / 3G, but I didn t have a bit of luck with PIX IOS version 6.2 (2).

So I upgraded PIX to 6.3 (4) to use NAT - T and VPN client to version 4.0.5

I have configured PIX with NAT-T(isakmp nat-traversal 20), but I still had a chance, he would not go through the 1st phase. As soon as I took nat-traversal isakmp off he started working, and we can connect to our servers.

Now, I want to connect to the VPN client behind PIX to our customer PIX network. VPN connection implements without problem, but we can not access the servers. If I configure NAT - T on the two PIX, or only on the customer PIX or only on our PIX, no VPN connection at all.

If I have to connect VPN client behind PIX to the customer's network and you try to PING DNS server for example, on our PIX, I have following error:

305006: failed to create of portmap for domestic 50 CBC protocol translation: dst outside:194.x.x.x 10.10.1.x

194.x.x.x is our customer s address IP PIX

I understand that somewhere access list is missing, but I can not understand.

Of course, I can configure VPN site to site, but we have few customers and take us over their servers, so it'd just connect behind PIX VPN and client connection s server, instead of the first dial-in and then establish a VPN connection.

Can you please help me?

Thank you in advan

The following is extracted from ASK THE DISCUSSION FORUM of EXPERTS with Glenn Fullage of Cisco.

I've cut and pasted here for you to read, I think that the problem mentioned below:

Question:

Hi Glenn,.

Following is possible?

I have the vpn client on my PC, my LAN is protected by a pix. I can launch the vpn client to connect to remote pix. Authenticates the vpn client and the remote pix makes my PC with the assigned ip appropriate to its pool of ip address.

The problem that I am facing is that I can not anything across the pix remote ping from my PC which is behind my pix. Can you please guide me what I have to do to make this work, if it is possible?

My PC has a static ip address assigned with the default gateway appropriate pointing to my s pix inside interface.

Thank you very much for any help provided in advance.

Response from Glenn:

First of all, make sure that the VPN connection works correctly when the remote PC is NOT behind a PIX. If that works fine, but then breaks when put behind a PIX, it is probably that the PIX is PAT, which usually breaks IPSec. Add the following command on your PIX VPN client is behind:

fixup protocol esp-ike

See http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/v_63/cmdref/df.htm#wp1067379 for more details.

If it still has issues, you can turn on NAT - T on the remote PIX that ends the VPN, the client and the remote PIX must encapsulate then all IPSec in UDP packets that your PIX will be able to PA correctly. Add the following command on the remote PIX:

ISAKMP nat-traversal

See http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/v_63/cmdref/gl.htm#wp1027312 for more details.

NAT - T is a standard for the encapsulation of the UDP packets inot IETF IPSec packets.

ESP IPSec (Protocol that use your encrypted data packets) is an IP Protocol, it is located just above IP, rather than being a TCP or UDP protocol. For this reason, it has no TCP/UDP port number.

A lot of features that make the translation of address of Port (PAT) rely on a single to PAT TCP/UDP source port number ' ing. Because all traffic is PAT would be at the same source address, must be certain uniqueness to each of its sessions, and most devices use the port number TCP/UDP source for this. Because IPSec doesn't have one, many features PAT fail to PAT it properly or at all, and the data transfer fails.

NAT - T is enabled on both devices of the range, they will determine during the construction of the tunnel there is a PAT/NAT device between them, and if they detect that there is, they automatically encapsulate every IPSec packets in UDP packets with a port number of 4500. Because there is now a port number, PAT devices are able to PAT it correctly and the traffic goes normally.

Hope that helps.

• Number of VPN client

Hello

Im trying to set up my friends firewall to accept connections vpn client software to remote sites. I applied a configuration to a previous case, I did, but this time, when the client tries to connect, it comes to the point of "Securing communications channel" and goes no further. Ive attached the configuration of the pix and some debug and show the result of the command.

Also, if I wanted to limit the remote client using only the port to a single server, how I would approach this? In my case, I don't want to give the customer access to a single server on the DMZ with the port 25.

Thank you.

To limit access to only specific server and client vpn port, follow these steps:

1 allow customer traffic ipsec should be handled by an acl applied to the external interface by running this command in global configuration mode:

No ipsec sysopt connection permit

2. add these statements to acl 2, which is applied to the external interface:

access-list 2 permit tcp 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.0 host x eq 25

Notes:

ACL 2 has an explicit deny ip everything no matter which line which should be removed and added back after all the acl changes are made, otherwise he would block want you want to allow.

You may need to enable vpn clients to connect to your dns or wins servers too, unless they will respond to your e-mail address in server ip instead of the host name.

Which version of the client vpn do you use and what OS it runs? You may need to add an isakmp policy which has a duration of less than 86400 seconds to get the client to connect.

Let me know what you find.

• Windows - Internet access, no split Tunnel L2TP VPN Clients does not

Greetings!

I have four ASA 5505 that I configured with 4 site to site VPN tunnels (works perfectly) to connect to our company facilities 4. The ASA is also configured with remote access L2TP/IPsec so that a specific group of users of portable computers can connect to and access to all facilities. It also works very well except for one important exception - my split tunnel setting doesn't seem to work, because I can't connect to the Internet outside the VPN resources.

I accept the inherent risk of allowing tunnels to split from a security point of view since I take the necessary steps to secure the systems used for remote access. I would appreciate any feedback on how to get the job of split tunnel.

I should also mention that my test clients are a combination of Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows Mobile. Other that in specifying the preshared key and forcing L2TP/IPsec on the client side, the VPN settings on clients are the default settings with the help of MS-CHAP/MS-CHAPv2.

You must configure * intercept-dhcp enable * in your group strategy:

attributes of Group Policy DefaultRAGroup

attributes of Group Policy DefaultRAGroup

Server DNS 192.168.10.4 value
Protocol-tunnel-VPN l2tp ipsec
Split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
value of Split-tunnel-network-list DefaultRAGroup_splitTunnelAcl
value by default-domain somewhere.com

Intercept-dhcp enable

-Latptop VPN clients (which I assume are on windows computers) is also the * use on remote network default gateway * box unchecked. It is located on the Advanced tab of VPN client TCP/IP properties. Select Client VPN > properties > Networking > TCP/IP Internet Protocol > properties > advanced and uncheck the box.

Alex

• The VPN Clients cannot access any internal address

Without a doubt need help from an expert on this one...

Attempting to define a client access on an ASA 5520 VPN that was used only as a

Firewall so far. The ASA has been recently updated to Version 7.2 (4).

Problem: Once connected, VPN client cannot access anything whatsoever. Client VPN cannot

ping any address on internal networks, or even the inside interface of the ASA.

(I hope) Relevant details:

(1) the tunnel seems to be upward. Customers are the authenticated by the SAA and

are able to connect.

(2) by many other related posts, I ran a ' sh crypto ipsec her "to see the output: it

appears that the packets are décapsulés and decrypted, but NOT encapsulated or

encrypted (see the output of "sh crypto ipsec his ' home).

(3) by the other related posts, we've added commands associated with inversion of NAT (crypto

ISAKMP nat-traversal 20

crypto ISAKMP ipsec-over-port tcp 10000). These were in fact absent from our

Configuration.

(4) we tried encapsulation TCP and UDP encapsulation with experimental client

profiles: same result in both cases.

(5) if I (attempt) ping to an internal IP address of the connected customer, the

real-time log entries ASA show the installation and dismantling of the ICMP requests to the

the inner target customer.

(6) the capture of packets to the internal address (one that we try to do a ping of the)

VPN client) shows that the ICMP request has been received and answered. (See attachment

shooting).

(7) our goal is to create about 10 VPN client of different profiles, each with

different combinations of access to the internal VLAN or DMZ VLAN. We do not have

preferences for the type of encryption or method, as long as it is safe and it works: that

said, do not hesitate to recommend a different approach altogether.

We have tried everything we can think of, so any help or advice would be greatly

Sanitized the ASA configuration is also attached.

appreciated!

Thank you!

It should be the last step :)
