Ports SG300 & AutoSmart for VLAN

I have a few questions about the use of the ports VLAN & autosmart voice. I was running into a few problems getting it working 100% in my environment. Here in a few words, my network

Switch to simple port SG300 52, 1-47 ports are configured unmarked VLAN110 (my PC LAN) and tag VLAN 140 permits (my voice VLAN) is 1 / the default VLAN on the switch and I have no assigned IP address and closed it.

Made various reading I found this on the Forum:

"The macro just get in the way most of the time. A default state on the switch a user will set the id of the vlan voice with orders

(config) #voice vlan id 100

* This will create the vlan 100

VLAN, VoIP? * You can use to change your defaults for dscp and cos a long with all the other settings.

State of vlan (config) enabled automatic #voice

(config) #interface rank fa1-24

(config-if-range) #switchport trunk vlan 101 native

trunk (config-if-range) #switchport allowed vlan add 100

* This function will define the vlan native on the trunk to 101 for the data port and vlan tagged will be 101 for the voice.

CDP is enabled automatically and must learn the features of the phone and get on the phone to the vlan 101 on this port. »

It worked well for my except in the case where I would have a phone plugged into the switch and a desktop computer hooked up to the back of the phone. I have to define the macro for IP + Desktop phone, then set it to VLAN for the 110 Office. If I don't he would stay to the VLAN ID of 1.  It's my only option? Can I change the default VLAN to 110 and just delete 1 VLAN? I was also running a random question with my laptop only where certain ports that I would link to (even if 1-47 are that all configured the same) would put just my laptop on VLAN 1, I'd watch the port autosmart and just, he would say "Default". I also disabled all the macro options IP Phone & IP Phone+ office. I really want to use this phone, I have no need of the autosmart ports do something else. Any suggestions or advice for this?

Yes, by default the 'phone - PC' macro will set the default value of the Vlan untagged on the port to the Vlan 1.  You must simply change this macro and change the setting native_vlan to 110.  So when this macro runs Vlan untagged will be 110.

No, do not change the default Vlan

Good uncheck all types expect the phone phone & IP IP + Office

  • Problem with DNS SG300 for VLAN

    Hi all

This week, I tried to implement a new SG300-52 L3 switch for switching and Vlan. The problem is that VLAN on the switch can't them get their DNS resolved. Probably a stupid thing that I can't see, but I think it's a given simple solution easy is not my expertise.

    So my configuration:

-Router Wan ISP: LAN ip 10.0.0.1, DMZ: 10.0.0.2-> I use this router for support of the ISP. But it suckes, that's why we use own firewall router, forwarding port etc.

-Nice router: WAN: 10.0.0.2, LAN: 192.168.1.1

    -Dip-switch SG300 L3:

VLAN 1 (the default) ip 192.168.1.10/24

    IP VLAN 5 (for back-end servers) 10.1.1.1 / 24

    Added static routes:

0000 / 0000-> 192.168.1.1 (so just send it to the router of Nice)

This method works. I can ping switch, nice router, router ISP and ip of google to VLAN 5.

But I can't ping google by using the host name.

Leave in SG300 I can. So he has something to do with SG300 does not do DNS.

My Client on VLAN 5 has 10.1.1.5 ip / 24, default gateway and dns pointing to switch: 10.1.1.1.

I put an entry in the DNS of SG300 servers: 192.168.1.1 active (pointing to Nice router). Does not help.

    Work around:

The default authorization pointing gateway to move customer. But put DNS server: 192.168.1.1 == Nice router.

Now I can ping google.com. But this isn't what I want. Just a nasty workaround solution.

    Any help appreciated,

    Thank you

    Atam

    .

I understand that you do not want to use the switch as your primary DNS, however the switch does not all DNS features which can manage DNS queries.

DNS traffic must be addressed to a DNS server or a DNS proxy. The switch is unable to answer DNS queries. Simply thanks to the switch as your gateway by default, you route already traffic from the computer to the switch and then to the router.

To give an example. If you send traffic telnet to the switch, you would get a telnet connection. If you send DNS traffic to the switch, you will not get a response that the switch does not know what to do with the request.

    I hope this information helps.

  • Impossible to assign the IP address for VLAN 1 (6248)

    Nice day

I bought two layer 3 PC 6248 switches. When I try to assign an IP address by default VLAN 1, it displays an error 'failed to remove management VLAN - ID ".  These predisposees are already preconfigured with the IP address 192.168.0.1 for VLAN 1. I would like to delete this IP address and assign one in the range 10.10.1.x for VLAN 1. But this is NOT possible.

Can someone please help me to remove this preconfigured IP, so that I can attribute my interest?

  • Serial Port is configured for a virtual machine...

    Dear team,

I found the serial port is configured on one of the virtual machine, which follows is the blink of an eye the same.

    1.JPG

Just want, serial port is required for the devices on which?

Usually, you see the serial port after a P2V and not detached from the VM.

Why is it necessary?  Nowadays it probably isn't, but there are days where we still used modems on (among other things) serial ports.  Introducing a serial port to the virtual machine, you can go through the device that was attached to the serial port of the server host directly on the virtual computer.

Today it is not really useful and you can probably just close the virtual machine and remove it.

  • Spanning tree Distribution Switch Port is root for all the VLANS

    Hello world.

It will cause slow for users who are connected to the network on the Distribution switch?

    Thank you

    Hello

a root is a designated port (if shipping port) on a non-root bridgewhich a path root the lowest cost to the root bridge. So there is nothing unusual here, and your kernel needs to be done to root bridge if you run STP between distribution and kernel as you apparently.

  • Configuration of Vlan SG300-20 for the desktop and server ESXi

    Hello

I'm fairly new to network so please, be gentle.  I'm setting up a number of VLANs for my lab at home.

I recently moved jobs and took an Oracle Apps of the Middleware & role has therefore need to start picking up the Apache, e-Business Suite, etc. of the load balancers so need to segragate my network to allow different configurations, I want to install in my lab ESXi.

    My setup is detailed below:-

I have a router of dryatek 2860n which is my entry for the installation of the internet on IP 192.168.1.1

My Cisco switch has been set to 192.168.1.2 and the installer to use the 3 layer.

I have a number of PCs connected to my switch I want to use to administer my ESXi server and have access to the different VLANS.

VIRTUAL LANs, I need are the following

VLAN 1 192.168.1.x/24 By default / Internet Uplink
    VLAN 12 10.0.12.x/24 Workstations
VLAN 13 10.0.13.x/24 Server management interface
VLAN 14 10.0.14.x/24 Public Interface Server
VLAN 15 10.0.15.x/24 Private server interface
    VLAN 20 10.0.20.x/24 Storage

My esxi server has two network interfaces that will have traffic MGMT, Public and private configured as virtual interfaces in ESXi and one that runs my traffic of storage/nfs mounts on a QNAP NAS, I want to make it work on my network

Here is how I have the ports

    A Port VLAN membership
    G1 VLAN1
    G13 - 20 VLAN 12

    Need to access the VLAN 1, 13, 14, 15, 20

    G9

    VLAN 13, 14, 15

    G10 VLAN 20
G7 - 8 VLAN 20 LAG configured to QNAP NAS

G13-20 are my workstations that need to be on VLAN 12, but must also be able to connect to 13, 14, 15, 20, SSH, RDP, NFS

G9 is the Interface of MGMT of ESXi who need to have traffic on VLAN 13, 14, 15

G10 is ESXi storage Interface that needs to access the VLAN 20 only

G7/g8 are connect to QNAP that ideally I want to configure as a LAG.   When I get more interfaces in my ESXi Server I'll finally the team to match.

I set up an ip interface in my CISCO switch to 10.0.12.1 as gateway to my workstations and created a static route in my router to allow traffic to the switch.  This does not quite yet.

I also installed a default route to 0.0.0.0

I followed a number of guides, but struggling to get my head around concepts and how to achieve the above configuration.

Ideally, I want to configure this through the CLI as Ive had no end of problems with the web interface of the Cisco switch.

I believe need g9 of trunk, and other ACCESS is it exact.

How the workstatations to access the other VLAN?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Paul

Hi Paul, to break it down a little.

Host A connects to port 13.

    config t

    int gi0/13

    switchport mode access

    switchport access vlan 12

    ESXI connects to port 9

    config t

    int gi0/9

    switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 13-15 (keep in mind this vlan 1 is unmarked here and is the IP of your server interface)

    This translates

    ESXI = 192.168.1.x 24 gateway 192.168.1.2

    interface vlan 1

    IP 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0

    no ip address dhcp

    Host A = 10.0.12.x 24 10.0.12.1

    interface vlan 12

    name of the workstations

    10.0.12.1 IP address 255.255.255.0

With this basic host configuration at shall communicate to ESXI (no other config on the switch)

If please try to get the connectivity of base first, then can work on the roads and DHCP.

  • Group of port and the naming convention for vLAN

What is the naming convention better for groups of ports on vSwitches?  This naming convention should match how we name them VLAN on the physical switches and how important is that?

    Hi VMinator,

To answer your question, he has not agreed to 'standard' for names of portgroup.  That's all what you're comfortable with the support and what works for you and your organization.  A bit like server names; Some companies are going hardcore with the naming conventions and others their name after the characters in science fiction or world of warcraft bosses

Forensic science more you pack in a naming of the control standard more you have (i.e. for scripts, health check, etc. see below).  Also, if the name itself answers questions on his own and allows you to save a phone call that is priceless.  For example - the guys says unix... "Uh which network to choose for my new virtual machine.  My IP is blah blah blah. "Well, with right portgroup name, this question would have answered itself... and maybe even recorded some interruptions of service in other cases by the simple fact of being clear and effective in the communication of how this virtual device should work: purely expressed through an appropriate naming convention.

Here's another one.  My last concert, we had thousands of virtual machines that had to move data centers and when they landed, they needed to change the IPs and start using 3 vNIC (instead of 1) on each virtual machine.  Each vNIC with a different subnet mask.  All support should be conducted by a team of outsourced with minimum experience of VMware.  The only way to support something like this and be effective is PowerCLI.  With just invited the naming convention only, you can perform various tasks such as query the virtual computer and check its settings of portgroup compared to its actual IP information in the operating system, initiate a ping from .NET to the virtual machine, if there is any questions Act automatically.  Some actions that will have to be performed include, for example, change the portgroup or mask on a set of clients;  Or questioning guests and glean information network (CDP, vSwitch, portgroup of information etc.) and compare observed network vs network expected enumerated in the PG naming convention. etc etc.  The list of actions that you can take are limited only by your creativity.  The naming standards give you effective power both in manual and automatic efforts.

Still, notice of one man, but every site I care and feeding generally ends with a PG standard similar to what I first described above in my previous post.  Don't forget my example naming convention is Basic.  There are many other attributes that you can add (i.e. in vCloud deployments, in addition to the info network, you can choose to identify various features specific to vCloud org-networks, etc.).

TBH just most of the companies have appointed VM-network exchanges (ok not bad) or some random shortname which doesn't help troubleshooting.  They are fairly easy to fix and also change over time, if necessary.  You can easily drag and drop a set of virtual machines (although I don't personally do this way) in the new port group (via the page of networking to CTRL + SHIFT + N) or PowerCLI it (Yes!  way to go).  Of course, always the ping tests before and after the change.  There are a lot of scripts out there (or ask master lucd post in PowerCLI VMTN forums).  If this is net-news, then you are ahead of the game and will have a standard to follow, whatever it is.

Best of luck and have fun!

  • How configure sg300-10 and VLAN ID can be seen in the wireshark

    Hello, everyone,

I have a question to ask. I brought a new switch sg300-10. I want to use to send ethernet packets. I plugged it with my laptop via port1. On the side of the laptop, I used wireshark to capture. But I have not found that the VLAN ID has been shown in the wireshark (I changed the registry of my laptop, so VLAN IDS must be displayed if it is contained in the frame). So I think the switch was not to configure and the id vlan does not appear in the framework that has been sent by swith. Does anyone know how to understand?

    Thank you

Hi Jiang, if your administrative computer is connected to port 1, may not understand the tag VLAN. That's why it has the appearance of the GUI hangs.

  • Planning for VLANs on IBM BladeCenter S fo ESX

I'm planning an implementation of VLAN logic using a BladeCenter S chassis. Since in a blade environment have you don't have several NICs (4 for each blade in my case) I thought what would be the best thing to do in my case. Here are the requirements:

    (1) I don't want to lose any NIC for standby use

    (2) I need to run virtual machines that require access to one or more of these networks: LAN, DMZ, network management (for SC), backup network, vmotion

    (3) performance of vmotion

    (4) network paths must be fully redundant and load balanced

The configuration that I thought was to make a single vSwitch with 5 groups of ports: LAN, DMZ, vMotion, backup and management port and assign each group to a VLAN different.

The problem with this configuration is that most of the connections will not have a real separation LAN, vMotion, backup and management because everything will work on the same NIC 4 so for vMotion traffic will not be separated and the backup traffic will share the same cards as well, so having an impact on the overall performance of the network If I run backups in hours of work; vview performance point is the same things that share the port LAN backup, vmotion, lan group and management.

I'm not much concearned on the DMZ network performance, because we publish just our own internal portal that does not generate a lot of traffic.

If some of the things I brought are incorrect or based on designs wrong please correct me. hope you will help me clear my mind on this configuration.

    Thank you in advance.

Since then, she looks like my suggestion! I am more than happy with it, no more comment if you like it & deal closed. hahahaha just kidding...

  • Multi-port USB adapter for the MacBook USB - C Port?

    Hello

I'm in pain, trying to find a USB adapter multi-port for my MacBook 2016, which only has a single port USB - C which is also like a power port.

I already done is connect the WD My Passport drive external HARD to the MacBook via an adapter HooToo, that to see any HARD drive mounted in OS X.

OS X makes a sound when it is connected, but apparently the adapter provides insufficient power for the HARD drive needs to be loaded.

I got Belkin USB multi-port here:

    http://www.Apple.com/us/search/USB-ports?SEL=accessories & src = SERP

But it is not certain if one of them provides enough power, so I would try rather than a person has used successfully with a MacBook and an external HARD drive,

If not, opt for a multi-port adapter USB brand Apple.

Please let me know about your experience or an Apple adapter.

    Thanks in advance

My Apple 3 port works as advertised. The USB port has a perfect compatibility with the old and readers USB 3, my adapter Ethernet USB Apple and Trendnet USB adapter that I use in series. This includes the perfect function with a 10 VM Windows via VMware Fusion.

A non - Apple C to an adapter that I bought works fine too. I don't see the brand on this subject but he chose via Amazon ratings. There were some with higher ratings, so that's how I made the choice.

  • Portege R500 - USB ports no longer for 35 to 60 seconds after standby

When my R500 (running Vista Business) wakes in sleep mode, Vista is ready to be used within 7 seconds approximately. It would be great, except that the USB ports and the function Bluetooth wake for another 25 to 50 seconds.

I use a USB or Bluetooth mouse and I find that this long delay start spoiling the otherwise excellent user experience.

Has anyone noticed the same problem, or did someone knows a solution?

You use a USB or Bluetooth mouse?

Try updating the chipset drivers. You can find it on the Toshiba site:

  • Hi speed USB via a Port Replicator advanced for a Tecra 9100?

I have the same problem with a Tecra 9100 and upgrade to hi speed USB as a previous post where the proposed solution was to use a PCMCIA card.

    (see link: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=24103)

I had an idea, but I don't know if it will work and need some advice?

Can you buy an Advanced Port Replicator that has Hi Speed USB 2.0 ports on it (like the PA3082U APR II that works with the Tecra 9100) instead of the PCMCIA card.

If the docks of Port Replicator in the motherboard will it give you Hi Speed USB 2.0, or is the Tecra 9100 forced to USB 1.1 via hardware in the laptop itself and the Replicator will not help?

Also if I go down the road of Port Replicator I need drivers for speed ports Hi of the Replicator to work on the Tecra 9100?

Or to ask the question – what is the PCMIA USB 2.0 card in that advanced with HI Port Replicator speeed USB is not?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

the Tecra 9100 has NO usb 2.0 and it's a fact. Given that the Replicator has these USB ports 2.0 does not mean that your machine when it is docked to the Portrep, is able to manage USB 2.0 devices. The portrep, it's like a usb hub and behaves like. So if your machine doesn´t have it then that's it.

And the explanation on the PCMCIA/Cardbus solution:
The pcmcia card USB 2.0 Chipset, this is the reason why it IS a USB 2.0 device (roothub).

I hope this was clear to you :)

Just buy this card and you will have USB 2.0
