  • Pavilion m6 - stop suddenly and mystery of the power cord

    Hi people,

I got a very strange problem with my laptop from m6-1035dx Pavilion the past two days. This is a reconditioned unit and have had some problems with it in the past (both hardware and software-related) that I managed to fix me, but this one left me speechless.

It started yesterday when the computer was placed on a bed (with a CoolerMaster pad below, which I almost never separate the portable device) and immediately turn off the power. In the past, I had problems with heat stops, that I solved with a bit of air in canned and CoolerMaster pad said, so I don't think much. But the same thing happened today, and I noticed that when it has restarted, it does not recognize the fact that the computer is plugged in. Unplugged the cord/AC converter to three points (computer, converter, wall) and tried again, still nothing. Tried another outlet, blew the vents, power off and removed/re-inserted battery, still no recognition of the power. I reinstalled HP CoolSense (which I had removed several months before) and hope that would take care of things. Meanwhile, I shut the computer off again, and the LED power indicator lit on its own.

Several hours later, the computer was reactivated and placed on a flat surface. Someone tripping over the cord, and the computer turns off again. The LED power indicator is out once more, so I unplugged the power cord and left for a few minutes. Blocked again, and the power was back.

I am reasonably confident that I should replace the power cord at this point, but I want expert advice before I commit the money that him. It may also be interesting to note that while the power cord did not work, the battery (92%) had about two hours and six minutes of use remaining, which is well below the advertised battery capacity (to be noted that only Chrome was running at the time) and what I saw of the battery in the past. I think that the cable or converter can be shorted, then is it safe to use the computer at all? Wouldn't be a good idea to replace the battery as well? I will provide any other details if necessary and thank you in advance for any help or advice.

    Hi maestro35,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having feeding problems with your Pavilion m6. I'll be happy to help you with this. If it is running with the battery, I wouldn't worry about the replacement of the battery quite yet. As for the fact that it gives you less time announced that it could be the mere fact that the battery life decreases over time. You don't mention your operating system, this is why I have included two links below which will allow you to test and calibrate the battery. This will confirm that the battery is working properly.

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 7)

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 8)

I agree that it appears as if the power cord is the question. If you have a similar cord, you might give it a try to see, but there's a chance it might be the prospects of power supply for laptop. If something is shorted, then you shouldn't really use the laptop but without testing actually physically we will not be able to determine if something is put in short circuit.

    Thank you

  • Power cord IPS L: Hp monitor 23 inch HP Pavilion 23xw does not take to the office?

Good so I recently bought a new desktop computer HP and monitor, but does not have the cord that connects the monitor to the computer (I think that's what we call a vga?) or I guess that is not compatible.

The office, I ordered is a P5Q80AV of HP ENVY 750 #ABA_1 desktop PC
This is what looks like the back of it, and I guess the part surrounded by a circle is where I would plug the power cord of the monitor to the computer?

The monitor is a HP Pavilion 23xw 23 inch IPS LED backlit monitor J7Y75AA #ABA
    It's the rope

Am I missing something here, or do I have to return this and buy another monitor? Where can I get something else that will connect the monitor to the computer?

I apologize if this sounds stupid, I'm just not tech savy.

Your graphics card HDMI, it seems that your monitor is also.

So, you can use an HDMI cable to connect your PC to your monitor.

Or you will need a VGA adapter DVI [masculine] [man].

The top connector is DVI - D [Dual Link] and only supports digital displays.

The lower connector is DVI - I [double link] and support a display either analog or digital.

  • All-in-one DELL power cord

I have a Dell all in one that is about 4 years old.  The other day I started up and used for a bit.  I left to go eat and when I came back the computer was off.  I tried to push the power supply, check the power strip and made sure everything is properly connected.  No change.  I noticed that the ring of blue light around the power supply is turned off, so I unplugged the computer and the power strip.  Plugged in the power band and the light is on.  Fantastic, until what I plugged it into the computer where it was released.  I tried some other power cords (same size, etc.) and that they would also have slight shift when connected to the computer.  What can I do to fix this?

Best to remove your serial number.  You have an Inspiron One 2020

The motherboard can be stop due to internal failure.

Card converter or another motherboard problem.

If the culprit could be your power supply internal or internal 3V CR2032 lithium cell battery. To remove and replace the coin cell battery is fairly intensive.

  • Alienware 15 - R2, brand new, AGA, after power cord

    Hi all

I just got last Friday my brand new Alienware 15 - R2 with AGA (Alienware graphics amplifier) and GTX 1070. All the work perfect, except the food. For some reason any after brick power play is connected after a few hours just unplug its self. Plug is still connected to the computer laptop but is jump light blue on the cord and laptop said to use more performance please plug power adapter when the adapter is connected.

For now the only solution is to unplug and plug it in again and the light and laptop power is back, could someone help? BIOS has been updated twice and is more recent, I swapped the power cable from the amplifier and did not help.

    UPDATE:

I found that I can play so long and everything seems to be ok until what I stopped game, power cord loses all power (the blue led turns off) and to get the power back to my power brick, I need to plug out and plug it into the wall.

OK, so the problem was solved when I replaced power :-) run all day on the new power brick and no problem.

  • power cord and power cuts

Hello.  I have a Pavilion dv7-3171nr, Windows 7.  It's a laptop.  In the last few days, I noticed some strange things that I've finally pinned down for my power cord.  I've been hear a sound like a bug zapper.  Not as loud, very weak, that's why it took me so long to locate where the devil noise came from.  When I hear the noise, it caused small power outages in the lamp which is located in the room in which I work.  Then, of course, at first I think it is the lamp, or the light bulb, our electric system... Anyway yesterday I finally put the finger on it at the exit of that my power cord is plugged.  When I unplugged it, all of these symptoms have disappeared.  At that moment, I realized that it was plugged in all the other times also in all other rooms, I was in when all this was going on.  Everyone knows about this problem with a power cord?  I had a lot of laptops over the years and this is a first for me!

    Good decision.

  • dv7-1270us accidental power cord Bump

So, the other night, I was using my laptop with the power cord plugged in. I had completely forgotten and picked up my laptop in another room. It pulled out the power cord from my computer.

I now have trouble to take the power cord to the power jack on the side of the laptop. I don't have to wave around, but it takes a few tries before it connects and starts to charge the battery. When he does not want to take the charger, the little LED next to the power supply blinks instead of stay on constantly. When the computer accepts the cord, the light stays on.

He isn't physically feel that something is wrong, but if I have to fix it, no one knows how I would look at? Or should I just watched in get a new computer?

    Thank you

    James

Decision-making is modular, which means that it can be replaced without welding. Decision-making is at little cost; well under $ 20. Assuming that no other damage has been done other than the Jack, you look at maybe $100 to replace the Jack in a local store. The work is also achievable by a well-organized and modestly qualified amateur. This is the plug for $4 on eBay:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/DC-Jack-power-for-HP-Pavilion-dv7-1000-series-DC301004S00-with-cable-/170859771057?PT=Laptop_Adapters_Chargers&hash=item27c80934b1

    Your manual:

    Manual

Page 102. My only reservation is that the dv7-1000 is one of the hardest working models on... a lot of things going on in there. lots of screws and subsets. However, if you follow the manual, keep track of screws and usually attention it can be done.
