Power with Equium L10 problems

Hello world

When I insert the power cord into the laptop it does not load upward or indicator will quickly change from battery power provided by the plug.

I bought another adapter and I still have the same problem. I wonder if it's something internally in the computer, because it also sometimes makes a high-pitched sound (like the sound of a boiling kettle of whistle!).

Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you.

The problem must be bound to the hardware failure. But nothing to do with the AC adapter. It s perhaps something wrong with the electronic power supply on the motherboard.

Have you checked the battery? How old is your battery?
Usually after about 500 times charge and discharge the battery loses performance and sometimes it of necessary to replace this part.

But that is only my suggestion and to be sure, on malfunction, verification of the material is required.
You should definitely ask a technician and a service provider.

  • Equium L10: Problem with the main battery and battery RTC

    Hello

I have the Toshiba Equium L10 and it is about 14 months old and I have problems with the battery and how much time it takes after a full charge. I also have problems with the RTC battery and an ERROR 0271: check date and time settings message when I turn on the laptop.

Regarding the battery, I can fully charge it upward in about 3 hours, but when I start to use it, apparently in the last few hours around one and a half or so and then it needs to be recharged. I can have down for about 40 minutes and then turn it off and come back later or in a day or two. How long should I expect from a fully charged battery?

About the batttery RTC, it really becomes a pain and I only started to get the message of the ERROR 0271 start-up, in recent weeks. I can charge the battery pack and then leave for a few days, but when I turn it on, I get the message ERROR 0271 on the date and time incorrect. Surely after a full charge, the RTC battery should last longer than a few days?

The manual says that if the RTC battery is exhausted or becomes weak, you must charge the battery of the CCF for 24 hours, in a different part of this manual indicates between 24 and 48 hours, but how can load you for long when the sections concerning the charging battery pack status after charging the battery you unplug the power adapter because leaving connected will shorten the life expectancy of the Battery Pack. So, how we can charge the battery of the CCF for 24 to 48 hours if we shouldn't leave the AC adapter plugged in once the battery is charged - which is nearly three hours. Suggestions about these problems would be appreciated.

Besides we all know that it is easy to change the CMOS/RTC battery in your desktop base unit, but is it easy to change in a Toshiba Equium L10?

    Concerning

    Brave0

    Hi Brave0,

The normal recommendation for the CMOS (RTC) battery is to leave the laptop connected to the power supply at least 12 hours when the main battery is fully charged. The charging circuit is going to hijack the current to the load automatically RTC battery and no current will be forwarded to your main battery.

Recommendation do not leave the power adapter is plugged in the main battery is fully charged is really only applicable to older laptops that used no batteries Li - ion and therefore they had to be completely discharged before recharging to avoid any effect 'memory' of the battery.

With modern Li-ion batteries, it is quite safe to leave the battery when fully charged and still power the laptop from the AC adapter. The charging circuit will pass all the battery charge if it is fully charged.

  • Securing internet connection Wi - Fi with Equium L10 and Belkin router

    Hello

I installed a wireless belkin router on my laptop L10 and have an excellent connection to the internet - everything works fine. However, I would like to secure the connection to prevent indiscreet listening - I tried to do this under the encryption and authentication of the menus, but I'm not sure about the different acronyms used - eg Shared, WEP and WPA for example.

I tried different combinations of these, but the laptop disconnects just from the router until I return to the connection 'open' standard with encryption disabled. Can someone point me in the right direction... ??

    Hello Dan

Your router is unknown to me, but encryption is still working on the same path. Check the security settings of your router, then select security options. Set the encryption you want to use (WEP) and the password.
Your device must be configured as described on this page
    http://LSS.wisc.edu/~Sara/wireless/pcwepconfig.htm

If everything is done on the right track to avoid any problems. I also use WIFI at home with 64-bit encryption, and I spent 10 minutes for any configuration.

  • Equium L10 - supply problem, loose taken

I have a laptop Equium L10, which works very well, however, the sock on the phone (in rear) where the power cord goes in is loose, so I can no longer connect my laptop to AC or even load the dough.

Is a small metallic square box, with a core for the power cord, and I think he has detached from the Platinum. I don't know how to disassemble the laptop to be able to fix it up, if that's even possible.

I have all my documents/family photos and saved there and I desperately need to have access to them to save them. Is there anyway around this problem?

Can I get a charger that will charge my existing AC equium battery, without having to connect it to the computer. This way I can charge the battery to the top of the wall and then stick the battery in the laptop to recover my documents.

    > Can I get a charger that wants to charger my battery existing Equium of CA, without having to connect it to the computer? This way I can charge the battery to the top of the wall and then stick the battery in the laptop to recover my documents.
I put t I think that this magazine exists! It of not known to me and I didn't find one compatible for a battery of L10.
You can recharge the battery only if a laptop was connected to the power adapter.

But the question is what you want if you want to retrieve only the docs and other files from the HARD drive internal then the easiest way is to remove the laptop HARD drive and connect it to another computer using an external USB IDE controller.
These USB HDD case can be purchased from many computer dealers

But if you want to use the laptop in the long term, then it s advisable to fix the socket. In this case, you should ask a technician the cell because the cell phone disassemble the procedure is very delicate!

  • Equium L10-273 kept switching between battery and power

    Hello

I saw a similar post here and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have had this problem sorted? My Equium L10-273 kept switching between battery and power all others second, which made it impossible to type, it's got worse and worse. I thought it was a problem with the power supply, but when I removed the battery from the laptop is ok running of the adapter.

He kept also make a noise of hissing/crackling growing fan region, which stopped when I removed the AC adapter. The adapter was unusually hot, and the fan area became too hot to the touch. This stopped now, I removed the battery, so I want to know is what someone has solved this problem by replacing the battery or it should be returned?

This laptop is less than 2 years old, but apart from his one year warranty.

    Hello

According to the description of your problem, I think there is a problem of electronic power supply. Sorry but there is not a universal solution, and I recommend you contact the service authorized in your country. Explain the situation and see what they say.

  • TV LCD W2607C with the same problem of power W2600

My Dell W2607C LCD TV has even no power problem. I had less than 3 years and have had very good care of it. I stop it after watching some tv to go with dinner. Two hours later I tried to turn it on and I have nothing. Not even a blink on the LCD. Power LED turned blue, then blinked orange.

A week ago, I finally called Dell customer service. Of course, I've been waiting for about 20 minutes. After giving all pertinent information about my Dell 26 '' LCD/TV, the operator (in English very hilly, I might add) guided me through all the troubleshooting steps I had done. None worked troubleshooting.

She tried pulling the line 'contact your cable operator' old, but I told her that the cable is fine cause it is also plugged into a second TV. She then tried to explain since it was out of warranty he could not replace. I did not stay in there and started to explain how Dell sold me a defective product and that I have LCD screens and televisions last more than 2 years and how it was unfair for a loyal customer to treat them that way. She then tried to send me to another service of technical support, but the only difference is they were going to charge me. I said 'No' and then asked his supervisor.

He tried to give the same line on 'out of warranty' and I told him that this is not an uncommon problem and if you google "Dell 26 '' TV does not turn on", he would see that there are a large number of consumers out there with the same problem as me.

He then said, "Oh but the problem you have raised is the 2600 series model not yours, yours is the 2607C.» I answered, without hesitation, "but it is still part of the same series, is - not? And it seems that the same problem was overlooked when they made the one I bought. »

I was told someone to a "higher authority" would contact me, but their calls have been rather erratic and I can't return their calls only leave voicemails. I get emails telling me how they just tried to call and when they say they would call between some time next, I end up wasting time to wait for a call that never comes.

As a last resort, I post here in the hope that I get response and are not facing customers by service script.

I ordered from Dell recently, his good faith. If I'm stuck with a very expensive paperweight, I might as well made my recent purchases and cut all ties with Dell completely.

  • Equium L10-142 - battery won't load

I've had my Equium L10-142 for about four years now, and I know that it is long enough for a laptop. Last year I had problems with the battery that refuses to load at all and more in the past months, the cable ca now seems to be worse and worse.

Now my laptop only stay on for a few minutes at a time when it is connected, the "low battery" WARNING continues to appear and keeps yellow light "plugged in" turn off, signaling that in a few seconds the machine turns off. Sometimes stirring done cable the light back on and the computer continues to run for a little while, so I thought that maybe there was a problem with the connectors for the power cable.

To be honest I know very little about computers, but I need trying to get my phone working again and I don't want to have to pay someone a lot of money just to tell me that my computer is too old and that it is just packaging.

Any ideas if there is a solution? Is there something I can do? A spare battery or a spare cable would make the case or is there no hope?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

First of all, you should know that after a long period of use (charge/discharge) battery will discharge the own performance and only a battery replacement would help to operate the laptop with battery.

But it should be able to run Notepad by using the adapter usually it should be a problem!

The battery in my old notebook lasts for about 2 min even it s full of 7 years :D
I removed the battery and use the laptop as a desktop PC. He always says on my table, connected to a power adapter.

I think that your laptop must always run on the sector, even if the battery is dead.

  • Equium L10 will not start

Please help - my Equium L10 will not start.

Power supply is OK. When the power is connected the orange battery light comes on. I press the power button the green power light turns on momentarily (literally a Flash), then both the Green and orange lights out with orange alone returning it on about 2 seconds later.

Else does nothing - no fan activity, no hard disk, no activity of the screen activity, no other light - you get the picture!

    I tried the following:
Removed battery and tried to start with AC power not only - no joy
Removed AC power and I tried booting with battery only - no joy
Barrette of RAM removed and reinstall - no joy

Does anyone have ideas before considering a tech? Suggestions (with the exception where to paste!) would be welcome.

    Kind regards

    Gary C

Hmm .He doesn't sound good. For me, it looks like a motherboard problem. It is maybe something wrong with electronic power to the Board of Directors of s. But not for sure.

What you can do is to remove the battery and unplug the power adapter for a while.
Wait about 20 minutes and connect the battery and adapter for the laptop. Then try turning on the laptop computer.
If this does not help I recommend contact the ASP technician, because I don t think you will be able to know what's exactly wrong.

So I hope that the technician can find the fault quickly and can solve this problem.

    Good luck

  • Equium L10-300 - battery failure

    Hello

Can someone tell me if the battery isn't on the laptop Equium L10-300 it will not feed with the lead/charger pluged?

    Hello

First of al you will get a few suggestions here in the forum if you want to be 100% sure which part is defective or malfunctions, you must contact a technician for laptop and it could check the hardware.

Now my opinion; If the laptop lights even if the AC adapter is plugged in, then it has nothing to do with s battery but with the internal parts like for example electronic power supply on the motherboard.

If the battery is faulty, you should always be able to use the laptop connected to the power adapter. Right?

So I think that your problem is not related to the battery I m not sure what could be wrong, but first the adapter sector and RAM check if both parties would be ok then there must be another serious problem that I suggested above maybe motherboard is affected

Equium L10-300. Just when turn it on, nothing happens and nothing appears. Before power indicators are on but not the green power on light.

I thought that the LCD screen was broken, but it turned itself off recently on a couple of opportunity (I guess overheating) I think maybe that's the problem.

  • Equium L10: Windows Vista Beta2 - peripheral unknown

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium L10 with Windows XP loaded as default but I installed VISTA Beta2 "public dissemination" on this issue and because it is only 1.5 GHz Celeron CPU with 512 MB of RAM, it worked fine, but I have a problem that I hope I can get help with users in this forum, and especially those who have the same or similar Equium model as I have?

Okay, after VISTA installation, I checked in the Device Manager and noticed "unknown device". After checking the info given in its properties, I've detailed below:

Geographical area: ACPI Microsoft compatible controller built-in
    Value: ACPI\ACPI 0001 * ACPI0002

When I reinstalled XP again, I went to the Manager of devices/batteries/Microsoft SMART Battery, the entry for Microsoft SMART Battery subsystem 'ACPI\ACPI0002\6 & 28CA 2229 & 0'.

Notice the "ACPI0002" info given for the "unknown device" in VISTA is the same info given for "Microsoft SMART Battery subsystem" in Windows XP. So I'm left wondering if the unknown device Vista is Microsoft SMART battery subsystem and if yes, why VISTA installed the driver for it?

Can someone help to find a driver for the "unknown device" in VISTA?

    Concerning
    Brave

    Hello

The unknown device appears because the driver is missing.
Unfortunately, at this time you will not find any what Toshiba supported drivers for Beta 2 of Windows. It is a beta and not official version on the market.
I think that if this OS will be official, supported so you will also find the necessary drivers.

  • Equium L10-300 - Question about BIOS password

Hey all hope you can help a new user please.

Had a customer to put in a notebook Equium L10-300. Somehow has been a password on the BIOS and start-up, so I can't do anything with it. I can't boot from a CD and I tried a USB floppy drive, it seems to the flexible time and then just operates in the password box. I was going to try a BIOS flash, you see.

I'm guessing maybe remove battery from the bios might help? But do not know where it is or how to get to it. All links to the manuals etc. would be nice. I ve read some new Toshibas have special security chips now hold passwords etc.

Any help would be thank you very much, really need to solve this problem.

    Mark

    Hello Mark

If you have clients, I assume that you work for an authorized service. The fact is that each service description how to remove the BIOS password on each laptop model.
So if you try to delete the BIOS password I can't imagine work you for some Baker. So many things on your work.

Another important thing is that the BIOS removal procedure is kind of top secret information and may not be the subject of public debate. This information cannot be displayed here. This will be a valuable aid for all who attempt to enter stolen laptops. Do you agree with me?

If your customer needs professional help to send him to the authorized Toshiba service provider nearest. They know how to remove BIOS password.

  • Equium L10 does not recognize any PCMCIA wireless card I install

    Hello

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Equium L10 and I can't get any wireless card to install. I tried different models of Belkin, Netgear and MSI, which works perfectly well on other laptops, but not on this one.

The L10 is a clean build of Windows XP SP2 directly from the retailer and I am using the following steps to install the wireless network card:

    1. start Windows XP SP2 and log in as administrator
    2. run the software for the wireless card
    3. Insert the wireless card

At this point, windows only recognizes the card as an ethernet adapter wireless and will not install the drivers. Even if I manually install and specifically point to the correct directory, it fails to pick up the pilots still and says that there is nothing in the directory for the material that I install.

I have the latest version of the BIOS for the L10 and have tried all the following features without result:

    1. disable the legacy USB support in the BIOS
    2 disable built in ethernet
    3. run the Diagnostics of PC from Toshiba (reports that everything works just fine including PCMCIA)
4 rebuild provided using DVD from Toshiba laptop

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? It drives me crazy and I've never had this kind of problem with any other laptop. Is this a defect known with Toshiba laptops and what is the solution?
Is this a problem with Win XP SP2? Is my laptop defective?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    [Edited by: admin April 6 06 06:51]

You can post the details of this card?
Have you contacted the manufacturing of PCMCIA card for support? Maybe there is a new version of driver for this card.

I've noticed some problems with Vodafone on a Satellite P10 PCMICA card. This card caused a blue screen on the unit. Well, the deactivation of the hyper-threading technology in BIOS has solved this problem. On other maps, the new version of driver also solved some strange problems.

However, what I would say it is there are a lot of things that could be a bad influence.

First of all I recommend you ask the card to support manufacturing.
