Equium L10: Windows Vista Beta2 - peripheral unknown

Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium L10 with Windows XP loaded as default but I installed VISTA Beta2 "public dissemination" on this issue and because it is only 1.5 GHz Celeron CPU with 512 MB of RAM, it worked fine, but I have a problem that I hope I can get help with users in this forum, and especially those who have the same or similar Equium model as I have?

Okay, after VISTA installation, I checked in the Device Manager and noticed "unknown device". After checking the info given in its properties, I've detailed below:

Geographical area: ACPI Microsoft compatible controller built-in
Value: ACPI\ACPI 0001 * ACPI0002

When I reinstalled XP again, I went to the Manager of devices/batteries/Microsoft SMART Battery, the entry for Microsoft SMART Battery subsystem 'ACPI\ACPI0002\6 & 28CA 2229 & 0'.

Notice the "ACPI0002" info given for the "unknown device" in VISTA is the same info given for "Microsoft SMART Battery subsystem" in Windows XP. So I'm left wondering if the unknown device Vista is Microsoft SMART battery subsystem and if yes, why VISTA installed the driver for it?

Can someone help to find a driver for the "unknown device" in VISTA?

Concerning
Brave

Hello

The unknown device appears because the driver is missing.
Unfortunately, at this time you will not find any what Toshiba supported drivers for Beta 2 of Windows. It is a beta and not official version on the market.
I think that if this OS will be official, supported so you will also find the necessary drivers.

    Regarding the WLan card driver;
You should check what the WiFi card in your laptop.
Have a look in Device Manager and open the properties of the Wlan card.
You should see the Vendor ID and the device ID.

For example, like this: PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_2A03

    Thanks in advance.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. (No, Symantec Support never say this.) See if the following solves your problems:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of the 2010 version of your Norton application, using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8 test cycle.

NB: Your Norton application can disable Windows Defender by default.

  • Windows Vista / Aero on my Equium M70

Hello. I just downloaded Windows Vista RC1 for my M70 that only, I bought a couple of months it is from Curry. It has Vista capable sticker on it and the seller has confirmed that Vista will work properly with 3D enhancements.

Of course, I want to have a full experience of Windows Vista. Yet, Windows Aero does not work on my machine because of the graphics card: Mobile Intel (r) 82915 GM/GMS/910GML. I didn't bother installing the basic version again. I did some research for the past hours. The equipment meets the requirements of Vista but it's the Intel driver that needs to be updated and Intel have yet to put the pilot. I sent them an email about this, and they said that it is not their policy to disclose information about software that may or may not be current. They also stressed that Vista is not officially released yet.

What I want to know is, Intel released a driver for my machine/chipset compatible with Windows Aero, even after that Vista has been officially released? He has seriously upset that my laptop, that I spent so much may not be at the height.

    Help, please!

  • Windows Vista - Error Code: Windows Update encountered an unknown error

When you use Windows Update on my computer the program informs me that there is an important update for my computer.  After clicking on the "install updates" button
    After that, he says:
    Update 1 of 1
Microsoft. NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 update for Windows.

Then he informed me that the updates were not installed and comes up with:

Update code 643 Windows has encountered an unknown error.

I tried to manually install Service Pack 2 on the microsoft site as suggested in a convenience store for the errors that occur during updates, but this does not appear to have solved the problem.

You can provide any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Step #1 => foremost, note what version of .NET Framework is installed:

How to determine what version of the .NET Framework is installed and determine whether the service packs have been applied
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/kb00318785.aspx

Step #2-online now see resolution method 2 in this related KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

After running the cleaning of .NET Framework (not the Windows Installer Cleanup utility) tool, reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework (but the ones you noted in #1 above) manually using the download links on the page, and then run Windows Update manually install security updates for same.

NB: If you remove the .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1) by using the tool, reinstall .NET Framework 3.5 will also install .net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2. Then, Windows Update will offer .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

IMPORTANT! =>, If you remove the .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1), reinstall your version of .NET Framework in the following order:

    1. the .net framework 3.5, then...
    2 .net framework 1.1, then...
    3 .net framework 1.1 SP1

Step #3 => Check-in at Windows Update and install the critical updates of security offered.
