PowerConnect 2708-Reset switch

I have a PowerConnect 2708 I want to reset back to factory settings.

It shows, it is in managed mode, but I can't go to the web interface.

I don't know what the IP address of the switch. I think I connect a laptop that is set to DHCP and I do an ipconfig, I come back with an IP on the laptop of 169.254.8.x and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, but it does not show a footbridge.

I tried to get out of managed mode, then put again, but that doesn't seem to work.

What should I try next?

Thank you

Rob

To completely reset to the default values, use a paperclip to press the button "mode managed".  Hold the button for 30 seconds.  wait about 3 minutes for the reset switch and find in unmanaged mode.  Press and hold the button mode managed again for 30 seconds.  wait about 3 minutes for the switch to managed mode.  Now, try again.

Default IP address is 192.168.2.1.   Try ping this address before you access it via the web.   Make sure that the PC is connected directly and 192.168.2.x network.

Another thing to note is the duplex of your connection.  I saw on this switch management problems if there is a half duplex connection to pc for management.   A half duplex connection may result in not having management PC don't not defined auto-trading.

  • Reset switch automatically

    Hello

I have the switch in my façade and its type is switch when pressed.

I want to reset this option false if a condition is true, as if out of a door is true.

After that the user can be driven normally.

You can use what is called a node property to set the value of a control or the indicator in a program.

To create a property for your button node, right-click in the Terminal for the button in the diagram and choose Create > property node > value. Then you will have your property node and can place anywhere on the block diagram. He probably default to 'Read', but just click the property node and choose 'Change to write', and now, you'll be able to write a value to it. Use a case to decide whether or not to write the value based on some other condition.

I can't reset my switch and realized that the reset button is missing/broken.  Is there another method to reset the switch to factory settings?  If this is not the case, how to find the IP address of the web interface, it is not the default.

    Hi Mark,

You can try a free tool like Angry IP Scanner to scan the subnet and search for all devices or install the toolbar FindIT in your browser that will locate the switch.

  • Switch reset buttons, the closure of VI

How do you reset switch buttons when you close the VI.  The problem I encounter is that the two buttons I want to get back to false control the output of the other loops and essentially the programme.  I tried to use the structures of sequence and it resets the value of the switch, but he's not leaving the program then because the two buttons I need to be reset not allow me to leave the program because now they are false.  I used local variables with these buttons, so I can't use latch which is unfortunate.  Does anyone have an suggestions?

You must include the 'writing to local variables' on the right inside the flat sequence and the wire loop stop boolean structure (in doing so, you force the flat sequence is run WHEN you exit the loop).

Anyway, Miss me something: according to the image that you posted, your controls must be initialized to false, you launch the program...

  • Dell PowerConnect 2724 managed Mode reference works do not?

I recently acquired a dell powerconnect 2724 from a friend, and I can't find the web interface. I tried the default IP addresses and I looked on an application to register all IP addresses on the network, and the thing only dell was my PowerEdge R710. I made sure it was in managed mode and I tried to reset it. Suggestions?

From the factory, the PowerConnect 2708/2716/2724 units have a default IP 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0 assigned. This IP address is assigned to the management VLAN 1. Be sure not to delete the VLAN 1 management or you will not be able to manage the switch. If the switch is unmanageable, and then change the transition to unmanaged and return to managed mode to reset the default settings.

Remember that the client attempts to access the switch is also in the 192.168.2.0 subnet. If the customer is not in the same subnet, it will be able to access the 192.168.2.1 IP address. Check and make sure that nothing else on the network also has 192.168.2.1 assigned.

    Keep us informed.

  • Error PowerConnect 3448.

    Hello,

I'm having problems with a Dell PowerConnect 3448.The switch was restarting, logging in I saw several posts that appeared as the type:

ADDMCPORTSFATAL: SW2G_mcmac_add_port: TAPI error in mc add egress port, port e9 vidx 4098 status Operation failed

    FATAL ERROR ***** *****Reporting Task: BRMN.Software Version: 2.0.0.34 (date 25-Jul-2010 14:24:24 team)0xb51280x3dcf4c0x2917100x291bcc0x295ab00x4b73b80x498a040x4b4f30

I reseted the switch, but the problem persisted.Every time I'd put an ip address on vlan 1, the above error happened and the switch rebooted.

I managed to solve the problem, when I took the vlan 1 ports 9-16.If any of these ports have vlan 1 as the default on these ports, the above error happens when I try to put an ip in vlan 1.

    What can this be?

I don't know immediately what that would entail, but let's look at a couple things.

All devices are plugged into those ports? If so which devices?

This work and then this question comes from start? Or were recent amendments of the made network, or new devices connected to the switch?

I would suggest that re-flashing the firmware of the switch and then give it a try again.

    www.Dell.com/.../PowerConnect-3448

If we still see the issue after the firmware flash, then I suggest pulling the running of the switch configuration. We can look over and see if we can identify any suggested changes/cause.

    Thank you.

  • Trouble getting vMotion to work on dedicated/isolated switch

    Hello!

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

    Ask each of you:

Please let me know what I've not set up right. I'm obviously oblivious to what I have right!

    Statement of the issue:

If vMotion is enabled on the interfaces connected to a dedicated switch or isolated, vMotion fails to move to a guest between the host operating system.

    Error message:

VMotion migration failed because the ESX hosts were not able to connect to the network for vMotion. Check network vMotion and physical network configuration settings.

vMotion migration [-1062731773:1352746564898648] could not create a connection with the remote host < 192.168.0.1 >: host ESX The failed to connect on the VMotion network
    Migration [-1062731773:1352746564898648] unable to connect to the remote host < 192.168.0.1 > < 192.168.0.3 > host: Timeout
The vMotion failed because the destination host has not received the data from the source on the vMotion network host. Please check your network vMotion settings and physical network configuration and ensure that they are correct.

    Details:

-It works perfectly fine if I connect interfaces vMotion enabled shared departmental switch (the same as one who shares the guest OS traffic).

    -vSphere 5.1.0 838462

    - The switch is a Dell PowerConnect 2816 in managed mode.

-The pressure switch is physically isolated from the rest of my network. The only connected devices are four cables (two each going to the port ethernet on two hosts) and a test for thin ping computer.

-J' followed the VMWare KB article 2007467.

-J' have currently a cable between the switch of vMotion and the company, so that I can connect to the switch and make diagnoses. So if you see the 'Networks' column below showing the 172.20.11.0 network, which is the network of the company, whereas I have assigned each vMotion VMKernel an IP 192.168.0.0.

-J' have a computer connected to the switch (192.168.0.200) and from there I peut ping 192.168.0.1,.2,.3 et.4, which are all addresses IP assigned to each VMKernel port (see screenshots below).

-The Dell PowerConnect switch, I can ping 192.168.0.200 (my test computer), but I can't do all the VMKernal IPs ping port... Strange!

    What I tried:

-Delete, then add the vSwitch on each ESXi host, thinking I did something wrong.

-The Dell PowerConnect 2816 resetting to default values, then put up. All I did to the switch is give it an IP 192.168.0.2. I put anything else, such as VLANs, jumbopackets or something else of that nature. He is literally parameters by default only managing what IP added.

-Connect each port ethernet (for vMotion) assigned VMKernal to the corporate switch and vMotion works perfectly.

-Are you able to get to one of Vmotion of host addresses himself, through CLI (ssh into the host)?

For example, your host is 192.168.0.20 and you ping the vMotion configured on this host which is IP 192.168.0.2 even...

    -What the vmkernel gateway?

-you have 2 cables connected to the natachasery that is connected to the vSwitch vMotion, and these 2 cables are on the same pSwitch where 2 the other host cables are connected (which are also connected to the natachasery connected with the vSwitch vMotion on this host)...

    Hello

Here the instruction how to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version.

1 extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    2. Insert a 1.44 MB diskette formatted in the floppy drive.
3 run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen. A BIOS update diskette will be generated.

    6. place the floppy disk containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy drive.
    7. turn on the laptop with the key (to the left of the space) which, depending on the keyboard layout, is located to the left of the space bar or to the right between Alt Gr and the INS from the keys. Press and hold until a short beep can be heard.
    8. If the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward"remains on the screen, check if the correct BIOS upgrade diskette is in the floppy drive and press a key any.
    9. FDD access will begin.
    10. If you are prompted with the message: "Please push the RESET switch (or turn the AC OFF power off / WE) to restart", remove the disk and turn off the system and turn it on again to restart the laptop. If the laptop turns off automatically, remove the diskette and reboot the laptop.

  • 10 GB switches for network SAN Eql

    Hello

    We'll buy a new PS4210X 10 GB storage.

We currently have a PS5000, a PS4000E and a PS6100X with 1Gbit Interfaces in the same network. All have their own group. A new will be in its own group.

The network is a ring (a single trunk is open through the Protocol spanning tree) 4 Dell Powerconnect 52XX GBit switch (2 x 24, 2 x 48). 2 switches with 2 tables and 2 servers in a room, 2 1 and 2 in another room.

The switches still have 1-2 years maintenance...

I know the new storage can always run on GBit until we go to 10 GB on the network.

    1. what switches Dell or HP 10 GB would you consider for the new network?

    2. is it possible to buy 10 GB switches and use 1gbit and 10 Gbit customers stand on this switches at the same time?

    3. you would mix the traffic on the physical network with VLAN for your production traffic, or you would still dedicate the entire network for SAN traffic?

    Any other consideration?

    Thank you.

For those customers who are in some longer period of transition from 1 to 10 GbE, we choose BaseT rather than SFP +.  Thus, the following switch model comes in my mind

Force10 s4820 or N4032/64.  Don't forget that you still have 2 switches with good band stacking bandwidth.

    The Force10 comes with 48x10GbE + 4x40GbE. The N4032 have 24 x 10 + 2 x 40 and the N4064 48 x 10 + 4 x 40. Then do the math how many ports you need from the beginning. Stacking is a little less complicated with N40xx the thing (i) VLT on the Force10.

The three models are certified for EqualLogic and we work in a few areas and a customer more have "legacy" servers/devices connected to the new switch gear.

Yes, you should always use VLAN and whenever it's possible traffic stored separately from the rest.

    Kind regards

    Joerg

  • Stack different PowerConnect models?

    Hello! everyone,

I would be very grateful if someone can let me know if it is possible to stack a PowerConnect 5524 with a 3548, (the 3548 did not have a HDMI port, only for stacking gigabit ports) If Yes please how I do, I already tried to use a converter RJ45 HDMI to connect two switches, but every time I turn on the 5524 , others (g4) on the 3548 breaks down and there is no link between the two switches.

    Thanking you in advance.

No, the PowerConnect 35xx/35xxP switch stack only with another PowerConnect 35xx/35xxP switch.  According to me, that is the same for the 55xx.
