PowerDesk

I have problems with powerdesk.  Is there a microsoft product that will do the same thing?

Hello

Read this information on Wikipedia for an alternative:

http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerDesk

The main competitors of PowerDesk are Total Commander, XYplorer, ZTreeWin among commercial and Midnight Commander software and Explorer ++ between free and/or software copyleft; a complete picture is in Wikipedia under article "comparison of file managers. PowerDesk had a 5 to CNet side 2.5 starting July 15, 2014. [5]

_______________________________________________________________________

Free Version 4 is on the program disk in Windows NT 4.0 Technical Resource Kits. [6] this version and other documentation emphasizes PowerDesk as a compression tool while noting that it is a complete alternative to Windows Explorer and the desktop icon. [7]

See you soon.

None of these suggestions to the Microsoft support technician will help you, but they will consume large amounts of your time.

Please post a link to this Marilyn Microsoft engineer answer Support responses involving some registry maybe going to I can see that too.

Older versions of PowerDesk Pro 7.x are known to cause explore crash, so that the sounds on the right.

The current version of PowerDesk Pro is 8.5.

You might be able to get the old version to behave by disabling PowerDesk one shell extensions at a time until when you right-click Explorer no longer crashes.  This will leave you with limited functionality of PowerDesk since those afflicted extensions will be disabled, but you should not have these extensions to do anything, you need to make sheets.

I would start with the PowerDesk ZIP shell extension (I already know about this one).

It is a version shortened and changed my notes on the use of ShellExView (since you already think sheets):

Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.

After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.

Click on the column header for Microsoft sort display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) then all the non Microsoft extensions are on top and easy to see.

Non-Microsoft extensions would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.

You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there is any success on the mistakes of the DEP and what other people have done about it.

For example, you could Google something like:

Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.)

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

Right click and disable Microsoft no suspicious extensions one at a time take a list so you can enable them again later if you wish.

The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know which extension is the culprit, then you can start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.

Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.  You can then start to reactivate other extensions to zero on the extensions that are causing your accident

If the cause of the accident is a third party application or program, their may be a later version of the program available that solves the problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

  • Memory contents internal clip + more not viewable in Powerdesk

    Hello

I fully charged my internal memory 8 GB with music a couple of months.  Today when I joined the Clip you want to add a song to my external card, I couldn't view the contents of my internal card at all.  Indeed, Windows XP does not find my card at all until I put USB Meteorological Service of the Canada, as it is said in my getting started guide.  I was able to view the content of the external card but not the content of the internal card.  I tried to copy something in the internal memory and Windows said the card was full, but I don't see anything.

Anyone has any ideas, what happens?  When I look in the folders on the Clip mode, I can see the elements are still there on the internal memory and play the songs.

    Thank you.

This mode was the player when the songs on internal memory have been added? Your computer can only see files added when logged into the same USB mode the way in which they have been transferred to the unit in the 1st place.

  • Problems with the update of IE8: "WindowsUpdate_0000000E" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

I had problems with Internet Explorer for a few months after an automatic update has been applied, and we lost power during the process.  I am now unable to use IE, just process dies immediately.  An update of the system is applied by the process of automatic update every time it tells me that it cannot update / day i.e., because a more recent version is already installed, as well as the error codes:

    "WindowsUpdate_0000000E" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

I was trying to roll back the PATCH or SP which was originally updated, but the Windows updates are not labeled as IE updates to Vista so have no idea which one it was (as I said it was a while ago).  I'm an avid user of FF but not having only not IE is annoying and constant updating errors are a pain.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi MDRaven0223,

    a. do you get this error message during the download or installation of updates?
    b. what service pack is installed on our computer?
    c. give any KB number in particular?

You need to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Vista using the cleaning tool.

    1. remove Internet Explorer using windows Cleanup utility.
After the installation of the Windows Cleanup utility, open Windows Clean Up Utility:
    1. Select Powerdesk that was installed by the Windows Installer in the Windows Installer CleanUp dialog box.
    2. to do this, select the programs you want in the list of products installed in the Windows Installer CleanUp dialog box.
    3. After you make this selection, the utility removes only Windows Installer configuration information related to these programs.
Follow the link below to download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:

  • Networking - how to make an access program to the closure of the internet itself?

I have several programs that seem to be access to the network all the time.  These programs have nothing to do with the internet except for possibly updated or another service.

Is it possible to redirect the address that these programs continue to go to, to a loopback address that does not access internet?  (for example, 127.0.0.1)?

For example, power guard verification Bureau ' 72.25.195.217.in - addr.arpa "every minute or two, and network traffic stops whenever he does.

    1 consider uninstalling these applications.

    2. look in options/preferences of these applications and records their Guides the user and/or messages to determine if there is a way to configure the behavior you don't like.

3 ask the authors of the aid applications.  For example, if you mean by "Power Desk" PowerDesk Pro by Avanquest Software, free support is here--> http://www.softcity.com/support/software?softwareId=power-desk

4 buy a 3rd party firewall that controls the outgoing Internet traffic.  In general, it is not necessary to have a such montor, but in your case, it might help prevent applications "phone home".

    5. do a little research on the hosts file.  This is as good a place to start as any--> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/hosts-files-explained/ unfortunately, your Hosts file will not help if the IP 'home' is hard-coded in the software (as seems to be in your example).

    6. If you have XP Pro, read this thread--> http://www.ntcompatible.com/How_to_block_IP_address_NOT_URL_or_UNC_name_t23927.html (particularly after #118510) (to start IPSEC in XP Pro--> http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ipsec_start_snap-in.mspx

Sometimes I would be considered sober...  I'll try to work in some chatter as soon as POSSIBLE.

Here's my standard order to determine the DEP from the Explorer errors:

Note that as I collect things that people tell me cause their DEP problems (I add them at the bottom), it seems that you can get one of these... :)  You can consider ditching McAfee - at least temporarily, to use their tool and uninstall instructions official:

    http://service.McAfee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?ID=TS100507

Don't forget to restart later and test.

You can always reinstall McAfee later if you feel compelled to do it, right?

When the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) is wrong (especially when right click), begin to suspect third-party add-ons explore extension.

Those who would be the Explorer extensions that do not belong to Microsoft.  This means that extensions that you have added.  Solution Explorer extensions are generally well and installation of certain applications will install extensions from Explorer solutions for you, give you a choice and sometimes they can be added without your knowledge when you install the new software.

Solution Explorer extensions are sometimes added as a new right-click option, you see on folders and files (like the scan of this file, open that file, play this song...).

If there is something in particular that you do during exploration that you know will be the cause of the problem, which will help focus on the problem and the help that you suddenly know, when you have found and corrected.  If you can get there when you want it, make an adjustment and then there is no message the next time you don't do anything, you do, you have found and corrected.

First of all you need a way to see what modules explore you have installed now and a way to turn them off (not uninstall them) so you can understand that we are at the origin of the problem.  You can have a lot of extensions not installed Microsoft don't even know you about.

    You can Google something like:

Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.)

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

I'm not a defender of trial and error, but I can't think of another way to do...

Right click and disable the non Microsoft extensions one at a time (or maybe in groups of 3-5 at a time), keep a list, so you can enable them again later if you wish. The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know that an extension of this group of 3-5 is the culprit in order to start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.

If you recognize all the extensions that have been added or recently downloaded, start with these first.

Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.

You can also just disable all non-Microsoft extensions, restart and allow them one at a time until you find the one that generates the condition.

If you have a large number of extensions, you can disable them is small groups, 3-5 at a time instead of 1 at a time until your system starts to behave.  When it does not, you will know that the problem is one of the extensions of this small group and you can enable members of the Group at a time until the problem returns, then the problem is with the last extension that you enabled.

The hope is that you will find an extension that caused the error, and then you can figure out what on this subject - either uninstall it or see if you can get an update of the author of the extension of their web page.

I have not your problem, but I can when you toggle extensions, the extension is immediately disabled, so disable an extension does not seem to require a restart, but if you think that you have found the problem, I reboot and repeat the test in any case to be sure the problem disappeared.

If you post your non-Microsoft extensions list, maybe someone will recognize it as a potential problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

Some I know not: menu popup "CtxMenu Class" in the context of McAfee VirusScan menu.

PowerDesk ZIP Extension was a culprit
    PowerDesk v7.x was a culprit

PowerDesk 6 and 7 will crash Explorer if certain versions of Norton installed.

  • Make a right click on the desktop icon generates the error

Besides, right-clicking on any icon in Windows Explorer, open the same window "Microsoft... has encountered a problem and needs to close." Looks like the registry, or something, is corrupt.

ShellExView has been amazing! It took less than 5 minutes to locate and correct the problem. I had on package extensions (40) - found the culpret in the second group of (10). Turns out I've been using Powerdesk (a Dead Ringer for Windows Explorer for maybe 10 years). Disabling the Extension "Powerdesk ZIP" solved the problem. Windows Explorer and PowerDesk (which wasn't too) will work perfectly.

I know not what affects the tell-abling "Powerdesk ZIP Extension" will have, but I can try to install the software - it is possibly corrupt.

    Thank you very much.

  • Explorer has caused an error in Kernel32.dll

OK... I had recently installed Vista Ultimate Upgrade on an existing installation of the factory of Home Premium.  I don't know if this problem has occurred before the upgrade or not, as I have dual boot Vista and XP.  Understably, I tend to use XP ninety percent of the time.  Anyway, if I explore folders using Windows or Powerdesk File Explorer I get "Explorer has caused an error in Kernel32.dll" when the right click on ALL files.  Also, I get an error when you choose the "Device Manager" shortcut in the system window.  But I can open the Device Manager in the control panel list.  I did research to my heart's content.  For the life of me, I can't solve this question everything.  Help!  Please, I beg you. If need more info I adhere to me.  Thank you.

  • compare external drives.

I have a 1 TB and a 2 TB external drive.  2 TB disk contains 86 points and 1 to 88 points disc after copying since the 1 TB disk 2 TB drive.  Is there a quick way to find out what has been copied on the larger drive?  I use Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hello

There are some file managers that allows to synchronize drives, folders or files.

  • Network access slow - 289 KB/s on the network of Gig

I have problems with network file functions in Windows 7.  It takes about 25 seconds to copy 100 files and 12 folders which has a total area of 3.88 MB.  The system reports only a speed about 289 kb - although I don't know it's exact.

I did the "clean boot" and still have the same results.  However, when I boot mode safe mode with networking, file transfer is almost instantaneous (as it should).

Any help how to solve this problem is appreciated.

I determined the problem to be with a third party application called PowerDesk Pro type Explorer.  Uninstall this application solves the problem.

  • First CS5 - system reading HDV freezes/crashes!

    Hi all

Despite the immense anger and frustration that accumulates in these moments there, I will try as hard as possible to stick to the facts here:

First CS5 is completely unusable since I bought it 6 weeks ago.  It runs on a new Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system.   He can't handle the HDV playback and blocks the machine at random intervals during play, normally within a few seconds.  Sometimes the 'crash' means that the video freezes for and audio continues to play.  Sometimes, the accident blocks the whole machine or even forces an immediate re-boot.  First seems to behave as if it is running on an old and slow system that cannot follow.  I cannot perform a single Edition on my calendar because of the crash problem.

I support box to open with Adobe, but they seem to have no idea how fix the problem and continue round in circles (they tried to dismiss the case 3 times more!).  I called Sunny, Sundeep, Riaz, Deepak and the supervisor, Avinash.  I have also contacted technical sales engineer Steve Burnard (to the BVE, Earls Court), but have so far been ignored, despite its promises to help.  I have been working through a comprehensive list of maintenance, but made no progress.  It goes without saying really, but my business suffers bigtime.

My system spec is as follows: Asus P7P7P55-M, Intel Core i7 870, Coolermaster Hyper TX3, 8 gb Corsair DDR3 1600 mhz CL9 DHX (4 x 2 GB modules), NVidia GeForce GTX 460 1 GB, 700w EZCool Tornado PSU, Western Digital FW800 Raid Array, Matrox Triplehead2go (now disconnected from paternalism).  The machine is NOT overclockee, and I have no antivirus software or other programs on the system: it is a dedicated video editing system.

I'm under first CS5 version 5.0.3 (all updates installed).  My NVidia drivers are up-to-date (266.58 version). My images are HDV 1080i for a Canon XLH1a (PAL).

Here is a summary of the main things I've tried.  None of these steps has made a clear difference:

    • Changed "rendering optimizes memory/performance."
    • Tinkered with memory allocation settings
    • Cache cleared
    • Lowered playback quality
    • Captured or imported new film HDV (same camera)
    • Re-capture the images of 'problem' (same camera)
    • Film imported from another machine (work). These images editing / playing perfectly in CS3 on the old machine and was captured on the same device
    • Footage moved to another (fast) drive hard internal
    • Other drivers and BIOS updated
    • Entry memory timings/tension manually instead of using the parameters of the BIOS 'Auto '.
    • TH2go disconnected and uninstalled Matrox Powerdesk
    • Updated day/re-installed video card drivers (clean install)
    • First uninstalled and then reinstalled updates one at a time (the last 5.0.3)
    • Run memtest86 with only a WHAT DIMM installed in time - no error reported
    • Run Prime95 Torture test for 4.5 hours with no error reported
    • Tried to import Quicktime HD DVD 'Company of images' files (won't import)

    Main findings:

Images that hangs at first CS5 plays back fine in Windows Media Player on the same machine at full resolution.

The images which blocks the first time and publishes fine on an old machine running Premiere CS3.

Capture the scene does not work properly - it cuts off after a few minutes. Bands must therefore be captured in their entirety, meaning file sizes are large.

AVI files seem to play back fine so far (could it be related to higher compression formats?)

My apologies for the length of this post.  It is a complex problem and long term, and so far no 'professionals' from Adobe showed a real willingness to help.  Adobe support have suggested so far only the basics.  They are extremely reluctant to you allow to talk to their support higher level officers and seem to basically just script-readers.  If a suggestion does not work, they seem to have no idea of what to try next (until they ' talking to their superiors'!).

They recorded a session with me and are apparently still discuss the results: honestly, I'm not sure I believe them.  Four weeks have passed now.   According to me, that I really need someone to try to resolve the conflict of machine/first on hardware software.  I could be wrong, but given all of my testing so far this seems to be caused by a conflict between the first and something on my machine... .but what?  I don't see any sign of a faulty hardware.

All the advice in the wake of any listed above would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Power supplies - what!

I would like to say to NewEggs on sides of the user as a good starting point to help with your selection. I like also jonnyGuru.com be able to provide comments. they looked at a lot of different p / s

About power, do not put too much weight in this alone. I have an old Thermaltake Toughpower 675 watts p/s which is so solid, but there are sellers of 1000 and 1200 models of watt that I wouldn't trust in my system for a second. I think you should at least 650 watt rated p/w with a renowned manufacturer.

    Things that I find important:

-more large power units tend to be much quieter with excess capacity and more fans (I got the AX1200 gold Corsair and LOVE)

-models of modular cables may provide much cleaner cases

    -variable speed fans

  • Photoshop, Win 7 64 bit, Matrox M-series: no OpenGL?

Hello. You have an idea if this combination is able to use OpenGL with Photoshop?

    -Photoshop CS5 and CS4 64 or 32-bit

    -Win 7 64 bit

    -Matrox M9148 graphics card (M-series)

-3 monitors, 16 GB of RAM

On this machine (Win 7 64 Bit etc.) I just bought for the pleasure of Photoshopping, Photoshop CS4 and CS5 with 32 or 64-bit recognize NO OpenGL on the computer, the OpenGL option has been grayed-off and not accessible in preferences.

But: Matrox M-Series (whose my M9148) officially supported OpenGL 2.0 (even if not OpenGL 2.1). By Photoshop must also Shader Model 3 and I see no Matrox comments if this is planned.

As a first step, the machine does not even start with the Matrox card. I managed to talk to a technician of Matrox. He said that the card had a problem on computers with more than 4 GB of RAM. He gave me a beta driver and then the overall performance was nice, but Photoshop does not have OpenGL. You are prompted by the technician, I made the following tests:

-Disable monitors 2 and 3, restart Photoshop on a unique control system. Still no OpenGL.

-Test my machine with the free viewer of Extension OpenGL Real-RV. He confirmed that the Open GL 2.0 is ok on my machine, but 2.1 is not. It says it supports Shading language version 1.1 Matrox GLSL compiler.

On the internet, I also read that Matrox-M-cards of another supports Shader Model 3 (also mandatory). I read that OpenGL is supported only with Matrox SE driver - U, not with the WDDM driver (but do not understand the difference). The problem seems not to be mentioned in the text "GPU" you can open it via the menu "Help" of Photoshop. The Matrox PowerDesk software helps with things of OpenGL.

    Thanks for all the tips!

I wonder if this 'Shader Model' problem could be solved in any software of Adobe or Matrox?

    Not with reasonable performance.

It must be implemented in the GPU hardware.

And I don't see anything in the current range of Matrox, that would meet the requirements of the OpenGL for Photoshop.

They seem to have fallen off the GPU card...

  • Flash CS3 crash initially upwards on Win XP SP2

I have a terrible problem. Had my Premium design CS3 a few months ago. I started with no activation and use all software without damaging - as flash. I need to reinstall the system anyway (for other reasons). After reinstallation of the system Flash suddenly stopped to start. It crashes when the red screen red welcome is shown on stage "initialization of fonts" or just after her... so for a very short overview the main frame appears and all disappear leaving no error in newspapers win. I was searched by internet to try to find a solution. I found those such as QuickTime and Flash Video Encoder, uninstallling verified fonts corrupted... I was installing and then uninstalling endlesslly... nothing helps. of course, I had my work time, so finally, desperately, I decided to reinstall the system again and install all of the software on any system clean. So I didn't.
After been installed, I tried the Flash and that made me very happy, flash has started up with no harm... my happiness lasted very short until windows has downloaded and installed the updates. After downloading Flash began to behave like before (crashing at first upward).

Adobe support does not seem to support anyone... I called them again and they could only give me stupid as tips install and reinstall following new. If anyone has the idea, what is the reason and knows the fix, please help... I'll be very grateful that my work is totally blocked now.

OK... After months of terrible struggle, I found the culprit... It is the UTILITY of MATROX POWERDESK-HF, which conflicts with the Flash CS3 - I don't know why he had no conflict before, I was ALREADY WORKING ON FLASH using the same machine and its configuration if.

Anyway even when I've updated utilities matrox drivers he same problem, so have just got rid of this utility as it had no impact on work on my machine... all the features works well (including double head)
